Mother Father live in Houston is a must listen. Steve says it is the hardest song for him to sing live. And he recorded the song in one take for the album. Unbelievable! 🎶
Mother Father is one of my favorite songs by them. And I never heard it until about 1999. In my defense, I think the album it was on came out before I was born, or at least when I was very, very little!
The Voice never disappoints. Yes Amber that is Randy Jackson playing bass. He played bass for Journey on this tour. He also produced the album for Journey.
Live or in the studio...their songs are amazing. No auto tune, no lip syncing, no prerecorded backup vocals or music. You can't fake talent. Journey was just true talent.
Please do listen to the studio version also. The harmonies at the end are insane. Not sure if you’ve reacted to these, but: Faithfully Send her my love Still they ride The party’s over (hopelessly in love) Open arms The hit list is endless
Their 80s stuff pretty much rockd, they had found their groove (the album Departure, 1980). "Anyway you Want It" off that album was one of my favorites.
With Randy Jackson (yes the American Idol judge) tearing up the bass! Check out "Ill Be Alright Without You" off of the same album. Its got one of Neal Schons best, most soulful solos at the end. A mind blower.
Perry is renowned for his countertenor vocal range, which spans from F♯2 to A5. Perry's voice has been described as a "high 'tenor altino' [with] a tone somewhere between Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin." He has been dubbed "The Voice", a moniker originally coined by fellow singer Jon Bon Jovi.
This “Raised on Radio” Tour was the first concert I ever went to back in 1986. I was 15. Seeing Journey with Steve Perry as my first concert is an awesome memory I’ll never forget!
This song Soars, and Harmonizes. And then it Soars and Harmonizes Some More. And then it Soars and Harmonizes Even More!!! It's Just Stellar, and is their BEST, IMO, especially in the Official Studio Version. Great Choice & Reaction!
No bad song from journey imo. Saw them many times with Steve Perry and it was never a bad show!,, Steve’s voice was the best imo! ❤ love y’all Pls pls do mother father!!!
I've been a Journey fan from way back. I never saw them in concert. I really like these videos of them live. In this video you can tell that they are really having a good time performing.
What you just watched basically sounded just like the studio version minus the crowd. That's how amazing they are. Please react to Still They Ride live video. His vocals will blow your mind, and he had the flu while performing it in Japan.
The most beautiful man in music history will be 75 tomorrow, January 22, 2024! He still has the pipes!!! Of all of the reactions you two do, I appreciate your reactions to Journey, most specifically, Steve Perry! This particular tune is primarily sung in Perry’s alto voice vs his typical upper register! Regardless, he’s the love I’ve longed for!
I went to this tour in Hartford Connecticut, and used to go to an average of 12 or 13 shows a year in those days (mid 80’s through late 90’s). Since that time I have been working at 2 of our Country’s most famous music venues in Tennessee and have witnessed many many concerts. This show still ranks in the top 3 greatest my whole life!
Such a great time to grow up with music. I've had the privilege of seeing them live numerous times, such great memories. The list of great songs goes on forever.
I saw Journey perform this song live in Dallas at Reunion Arena, December 2, 1986 on their Raised on Radio tour. To this day, it's still the best concert I've ever been to. Steve Perry is and always has been on a different level. The man's voice is perfection ❤
I was at the Hawaii leg of this Raised on Radio concert tour. First time I was able to see Randy Jackson live. He's Monster bass player. I loved his work with some Jazz artists like Jean Luc Ponty.. As usual Journey killed it live, even with the new lineup of musicians...
Always loved the coattails. And Randy Jackson (American Idol) was their bassist on this tour. He was a studio musician and is also in a Richard Marx video. Children of the night.
I love this song from Journey with lead singer Steve Perry! One of the Greatest Lead Singers of all time! I like it when he sang it live on this video! Aloha!!
Nothing like the voice of Steve Perry live. So special! A great song. Miss this era of music. Ross Valory was Journey's bassist and split with the band suddenly in 1985/86. Journey brought in Randy Jackson to play bass on the record RAISED ON RADIO and tour with them. Randy had played bass for Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead) and Carlos Santana earlier and was known to be an exceptional bass player in the music industry. He has some street cred even through he is mostly known for American Idol. He has played music for Bob Dylan, Elton John, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richards and countless others. Keep the Journey going!
"Raised on Radio" is an amazing album. my favorites from it are "Suzanne" and 'Why Can't This Night Go On Forever", a rocking one and another amazing power ballad. sadly I think this was the last tour Journey did with Steve Perry. in 97 they were going to do a tour for the new reunion album "Trial By Fire" (another amazing one) but Perry hurt his back (ironically getting in shape for the tour) and the tour never happened. Steve Perry never sang again with the rest of Journey
Fun JOURNEY fact: The lead guitarist, Neal Schon, played the original Woodstock festival when he was only 16 years old! I believe he was invited to play with SANTANA. Also, Steve Smith, the drummer, I later found out, was a high level studio player that was really under the radar with this band. I’ve heard Neil Peart of RUSH talk about him! Neil was impressed! Holy crap! I screwed up big time never seeing them.
I am 64 lol, saw Journey 3 times with Perry and for you 2 I wish I could take one of those times back, and send both of you to 1 Journey concert in my place with Perry. You 2 have earned it.
They're so good! Check out Journey's "Stone In Love" Live 1981: Escape Tour. Incredible vocal as always by Steve Perry, but Neal Schon's guitar solo...WOW!!! Long Live the 80's! 💯🔥🤘
Guys I love your channel. Journey was the best band from the 80's! It may be too late to request, but I truly wish you and your lovely wife would put " Mother Father Sister Brother" from Journey's 1981 Houston concert live on your next Journey reaction list. You will not regret it. It's one of their best ever. You will be amazed! Again, love love love you guys! ❤❤
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Journey, my number one fave Rock band of all time. You guys gotta check out kthese songs of theirs as i think you'll love these too. Positive Touch, Walks like a lady (live version), After The Fall, Sweet and Simple, Dixie Highway, I'm Cryin, Lay It Down, Suzanne, Mother Father, Edge Of The Blade. All awesome songs out of many many great songs in their catalogue. 😎🎸👌❤️
Have you guys still not heard 'Don't Stop Believing'?! It's, like, one of their biggest songs! I remember being in a bar in Illinois, Fast Eddies Bon Aire. And that song came on and EVERYBODY stopped and started singing it! And the place was crowded with all ages, races, etc. Everyone knew it and loved it. You gotta listen if you haven't heard it yet!
He played bass for others too. I think they are like a session players for anyone needing a certain instrument player. Randy did play on another song of theirs on the frontier album 🤔 He did tour with them on this tour
I jumped aboard the whole reaction video train going on 4 years now. I have followed just a few channels here and There and as it has happened to you two like the others I used to follow people start recommending bottom of the barrel fodder songs. These songs are not popular for a reason. Even the bands know there all not hits just filler music to fill up an album. So it has been a couple of weeks now since I have checked out the tunes and man the request have been horrible. We need to pick up our game people and find some good music to keep this channel going. I enjoy this channel alot it's my go to. Love how they really enjoy the music and get excited over new songs and bands . Pure joy the same way I did when I discovered most of these songs in my younger days. So guys keep rockin and keep the faith. 🤘🏻💯🔥
Randy Jackson also played on the studio version of 'After the Fall' from Journey's previous album Frontiers (1983 this album is '86). Drummer Steve Smith (who isn't on this album/tour) had met him while doing studio musician stuff on the side (I think) and introduced him to the band. Randy is still friends with Perry, and wanna say with Smith too.
Nice catch, Amber. From 1986 to 1987, Randy Jackson joined Journey, initially as a session musician for their 1986 album Raised on Radio before joining the band for the subsequent tour.
They were amazing in concert…with Steve Perry 🎶! I saw them at Tarrant County Convention Center in Ft. Worth Texas back in the ‘80’s. One of the best concerts I’ve been to. Steve Perry’s voice sounds so good live.
Saw Journey in my hometown in California and my ears were ringing by the time I left there. I didn't mind but was glad when it dissipated the next day! Check out one of Steve's solo songs on his latest album: "Traces", like: "So Easy to Love", written for his girlfriend, Kellie Nash, who died of cancer.
Yup. Their harmonies are insane. They are just that good. You can find them singing a cappella on UA-cam during sound check. They nail 4 part harmonies like it is nothing.
I remember toward the spring of my Senior year in HS (1987), this was released as a single. It came on the radio when I was driving home from school and I had to pull the car over!!! The harmonies!!!!!!! The Lyrics!!!! The vocals!!!! ❤❤❤ Blew my mind!
For my best cousin. Ran off for 2 weeks with my wife. I play journeys. I'll be all right without you. Over and over and over again and all day i'm not out there yet
I'm gonna ask you one guy's eyes. Or why do I set off? How high? At a time INYT? IMA what's got the other guy. Showing a lot of stapes doing some backing bogels?
And it’s The Dawg himself on bass- American Idol’s Randy Jackson- he played bass for them for a couple of years. ❤❤
I didn't know that until Amber said it. Now I havve to watch the video again...I know him from A Idol
Wooof wooof wooof
Steve wanted Randy Jackson on bass and booted out Ross Vallory for a second. Good for Amber spotting him because he was a lot heavier back then
I love Randy! So cool he was with them…I loved him on American Idol. His jacket is so dope🤘
Wow, how cool.
Steve had one of the most iconic, powerful, beautiful, effortless voices in history.
No, not "one of the most", His voice is the greatest ever.
@@Robsan40 I would include in that list: Karen Carpenter, Freddie Mercury, and Ann Wilson.
You said it one of the most effortless voices ever.
@@lindamcnamara7803 Correct. It comes comes out of him, seemingly without effort.
@@oldnerdreviews that's hall of fame right there.
No lip syncing there! Pure talent
🤗😎👌🤘
Absolutely right Steve Perry has an amazing voice
-definetly- ! 🔥
none of that goddamn autotune that has ruined music for over 30 years.....
Just magic! Greatness personified!
Steve Perry is one of my favorite voices in the history of music.
" I'll Be Alright Without You " - by JOURNEY 1986 this is another one of their greatest hits 🎸 from Raised on Radio. Amazing tune what a classic
Great suggestion!
I saw them in Philly back in '86. It's still the best concert I've ever seen live. And I've seen a lot of great artists along the way.
I liked "Suzzane" off that album (Raised on Radio)
Mother Father live in Houston is a must listen. Steve says it is the hardest song for him to sing live. And he recorded the song in one take for the album. Unbelievable! 🎶
Mother Father is one of my favorite songs by them. And I never heard it until about 1999. In my defense, I think the album it was on came out before I was born, or at least when I was very, very little!
-ikr- !
Love that song
THAT is one of the BEST live Vocals EVER!!
Send her my love is another great journey song. There’s live versions on UA-cam that are really good and showcase how great they were live.
I think they’ve already reacted to that one!
@@cjkent88They did, but it was the studio version not live.
I love that song... and also "ONLY THE YOUNG" ❤
That was the next song they were going to play at the concert in the video. It is starting at the end as their next song.
Don't care who they have Steven Perry is and always will be Journey 🎉❤
The Voice never disappoints. Yes Amber that is Randy Jackson playing bass. He played bass for Journey on this tour. He also produced the album for Journey.
Yes, and Randy loved to name drop his time with Journey as often as he could on American Idol.
Live or in the studio...their songs are amazing. No auto tune, no lip syncing, no prerecorded backup vocals or music. You can't fake talent. Journey was just true talent.
This is better than the studio version , Neal’s guitar solos are better than studio
Perfect performance in every way ( actually a verse from a song of theirs) AND IT IS!!!😮
No this version is better than than the album version
Fact.
A Journey reaction? You made my night! Steve is awesome! BTW -Steve and Randy Jackson are still friends ❤️🙂❤️
Please do listen to the studio version also. The harmonies at the end are insane.
Not sure if you’ve reacted to these, but:
Faithfully
Send her my love
Still they ride
The party’s over (hopelessly in love)
Open arms
The hit list is endless
They've done Faithfully and Open Arms.
They've done Faithfully for sure...
Agreed. This is good. But the studio version is even better.
Hard to beat the feel-good vibes of a Journey song. Great riff.
Can't go wrong with Journey! ❤
I'm so proud of you Amber for knowing Randy on bass. This is a banger to play bass and guitar. ❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘
Why? He mentions it every chance he gets lol!!!
-xD- !

Their 80s stuff pretty much rockd, they had found their groove (the album Departure, 1980). "Anyway you Want It" off that album was one of my favorites.
One of my favorite songs by journey will always be " whose crying now" absolutely amazing.
The man can sing the phone book and it would be a hit!!
With Randy Jackson (yes the American Idol judge) tearing up the bass! Check out "Ill Be Alright Without You" off of the same album. Its got one of Neal Schons best, most soulful solos at the end. A mind blower.
This earned a double watch. Journey at its best. Great song...Steve Perry killing it. Kudos to Amber for recognizing Randy Jackson
You have to do Journey "Mother, Father". Live from Houston, 1981. Arguably one of the best live performances ever in any genre!! (In my opinion) 🤘😃
Yes! You guys have got to watch this performance! So powerful and will give you chills at the end!
100% agree. You Have to watch that live performance from Houston
This “Raised on Radio” Tour was the first concert I ever went to back in 1986. I was 15. Seeing Journey with Steve Perry as my first concert is an awesome memory I’ll never forget!
That must have been awesome! My first show was Kansas on their comeback "Power" tour in 1986, and I loved it. That was a good year!
Its great when you watch them live in concert. Thats how you know a real great band from others
This song Soars, and Harmonizes. And then it Soars and Harmonizes Some More. And then it Soars and Harmonizes Even More!!! It's Just Stellar, and is their BEST, IMO, especially in the Official Studio Version. Great Choice & Reaction!

Yes, that's Randy. He and Bob Glaub shared duties on the album, but Randy toured with them.
I've been a Journey fan from way back. I never saw them in concert. I really like these videos of them live. In this video you can tell that they are really having a good time performing.
You two never fail to put a smile on my face! Thank you,
Glad you got back to the man with the voice, Journey is such a great band. His voice makes my heart melt 🫠
Great reaction to Journey at their absolute peak, this was their time, their moment in time and we were all grateful to be along for the ride. ✌️
J & Amber, their "Don't Stop Believin' " is next for you!! Steve 'The Voice' Perry.
No better group ever!!! In concert a lifelong dream to see!!!
Patiently and Winds of March have AMAZING Steve Perry vocals ❤❤❤
What you just watched basically sounded just like the studio version minus the crowd. That's how amazing they are.
Please react to Still They Ride live video. His vocals will blow your mind, and he had the flu while performing it in Japan.
Not many groups can pull off such tight harmonies live. Definitely listen to the studio version. All vocals are Perry. My 2nd favorite Journey song.
Journey "ONLY THE YOUNG" is my favvvvorite of all their songs. You will both LOVE it!!!!

Any Way You Want It , its one of their most famous singles ❤
Greatest voice of the 80s
Greatest all time Perry ❤❤❤❤
ABSOLUTELY LOVE JOURNEY❤❤❤ gotta give "loving you is easy" or "party's over" trust me
What a band! Steve Perry! The Harmonies! The musicianship! The Songs! What can you say! AWESOME!!
Another one of my favourite bands from the 80s. The lead singer had such a distinctive voice. It was almost haunting. Brilliant. Made my day.

I love this song from Journey with lead singer Steve Perry! One of the Greatest Lead Singers of all time! I like it when he sang it live on this video! Aloha!!
Steve Perry is an emotional experience, his solo song Missing you and I Stand alone are both sooo worth a listen
They were big in the mid 80’s ! I wore out my Escape cassette in the Monte Carlo in 86-87 ! 😎
Had the pleasure to see Journey a few times live. Just a great band.

NOW you must do "I'll Be Alright Without You", filmed at the same concert in Calaveras County in 1981. Best song on the album!
Love this song! Love journey
Amber would LOVE "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" from this same album (a similar vibe to "Faithfully").
