Oh you're right! The Sc6 footage I used was recorded awhile ago, while I played 2 alot for this video. So I got Inferno's playstyles between the two games confused. Thank you for the correction!
6:45 Point of focus to unlocking Gon in T3... the Tekken Ball game was one way to unlock. The other way is inputting "GON" on a record, when you get one (Time Attack, Survival).
Loved this vid! I had no idea Goro was playable in the GC port of MK. Hell, I didn’t think you’d even bring up ports to the topic lol. I understand there’s this huge debate in the FGC between releasing games tournament-ready or going back to roots with the whole unlocking of characters and secret characters. Personally I vouch for secret characters making a comeback. Like you said, it gives us more reasons to keep playing. MK Deception and Smash 64/Melee have by far been my favorite in that aspect, and not knowing everything about a game before release and just jumping in blindly was always an experience on its own!
It's always a nice surprise when you don't know who the next playable character is! But with leaks and stuff it would be hard to keep things secret now.
Good point! MK1’s entire roster leaked before the game was even officially announced lol. There’s even heavy story and roster leaks dating back like 2 years ago from a riddler on Reddit that all turned out to be true.
People probably have mentioned it, but SFA3 has unlockable characters on console. You can unlock Evil Ryu, Shin Gouki(Akuma) and Guile(?) in those games by playing the World Tour Mode. Akuma is a hidden character in Street Fighter 3 Second Impact. You can play Akuma in Street Fighter 2 Turbo with a code iirc. I believe Capcom vs SNK 2 also has unlocks for Shin Gouki and God Rugal and a few others. (Wow akuma is always a hidden character lol)
Yeah, I was a little limited with this vid to games that I own and what information I could find online. I've never played SFA3 and I only have SF3 New Generation. At this point, I might make a follow up video for corrections lol. Thank you for the correction and the comment
Unlockable characters in competitive games are one of those mixed bag "inconvenience features", like limited lives, that I feel like you kinda have to be in a PARTICULAR mood to enjoy. It's all a bit nostalgic and brings a certain quality to a game, but I can't exactly say I was HAPPY to boot up Smash Bros Ultimate and realize I'd need to play singleplayer for 5+ hours just to access all my mains and counterpicks from the last game. I specify "competitive games" because I do like secrets and unlockables in general, but when the characters are almost the ENTIRE game I'd rather start with most of them available.
Like I said in the video, the character unlocks were the main thing I didn't enjoy about Ultimate. A majority of characters should always be available from the start
I know this would probably piss of the Competitive community but would it really be that hard to have like an unlocking scheme such as beating the game or whatever while also having like a cheat that just lets you unlock everything if you know to use it. That way it's there if you wanna struggle for it but it's also not a hassle if all you wanna do is go to online immediately. Also, Reptile being the first hidden character is weird and my mind rejected it when I first heard someone say it, but Goro being the first hidden character on a gameboy port feels insane.
No mention of SNK????? What the hell, you even go on talking about how crazy it is that akuma showing up in xmen spawned mvc when kof was born from ryo showing up in a fatal fury game? brief implies comprehensive and quick, 17 minutes long and comprehensive my ass!
I'm sorry for not mentioning SNK. My own experiences with the company is limited to Art of Fighting 3. However, I did know about Ryo in Fatal Fury. This video is about unlockable characters: as in playable characters. Ryo was not playable while Akuma was, so there was no need for me to mention Ryo. However, I still should have mentioned SNK in the video.
Inferno has modified nightmare style in sc6

Thank you for the correction!
Tekken 5 also had one of the most unique and interesting ways to unlocking a character. If you wanted to play as devil jin you beat devil within
You can now play as Luigi!
I can always be Luigi in my heart 💚
OK THAT'S IT YOU CAN NO LONGER PLAY AS LUIGI

I didn't know that! Also, cool G cosplay on the pfp
@@Phils_Horrible_World Why thank you! It took a bit to get it right, tbh.
Criminally underrated video and UA-camr. Keep it up
Thanks for the kind words
Never before have I seen John Cena next to Sonic the Hedgehog in a youtube thumbnail.

@Zoroark98 Leaks can still be cool if only a little bit of information is put out there. But if the entire thing is leaked then there's no fun!

A good and simple video about fighting game history. Love it, hope to see more similar content from you.
Thank you, the original draft was 6 mins longer lmao
This video is honestly exactly what I was looking for , good stuff 👍🏻
Thanks dude!
I wish Akuma was an assist trophy in Smash ultimate, where he uses his raging demon. Instead we got Guile using sonic booms & flash kicks
Would have been funny to see him pull out a Satsui no Hado mid-match lol

Cool video, man!
Glad you enjoyed it
Top tier video! ❤
I miss unlocking characters in fighting games I played a lot back in the day to unlocking characters in Tekken soul calibre and mortal Kombat games
Super Cena had me fucking crying
I cried for hours when I first laid eyes on such a beautiful creature
I miss grinding the story just to get a character , tekken 4 , and street fighter 4 original version
The spartan in DOA4 is more categorized as guest characters in fighting games
But was still unlockable
@@Phils_Horrible_World really?! I never knew that 😯
Algorithm brought me here, it was a really good watch ❤️❤️

I actually uploaded a gameplay clip of Wcw/nwo Thunder's cow character yesterday lol
Fire video
Is that a Gamecube mic? Nice!
Finally someone noticed!
Actually Ryo Sakazaki from Fatal Fury Special did it first.
He wasn't playable, this video focuses on unlockable characters
I disagree, Dr. B in Tekken 3 was tbe most difficut character to unlock in that game
F*** Akuma. all I have to do is put a Lego on the floor.
That can take out anyone
