I really wanna see some MK characters looking at Blanka confused and then ask him "which part of the Outerworld do you come from?" And he just looks at them and answers "Brazil" and they all just look at him scared and take a step back.
Intro ideas: Ryu vs Liu Kang Liu Kang: “Your style is based around assassination?” Ryu: “My master’s style is more peaceful than its original intentions.” Liu Kang: “Show me what you can do.” Ryu: “You’re a Shaolin monk, right?” Liu Kang: “I assume you wish for kombat?” Ryu: “I would be honored to spar with you.” Liu Kang: “I can sense the murderous intent swelling within you.” Ryu: “Can the Shaolin help me suppress the Satsui no Hado?” Liu Kang: “The Shaolin offer help to all who’ve lost their way.” Ryu: “My Ansatsuken.” Liu Kang: “Against my Shaolin Wushu.” Ryu: “May the best warrior win.”
I love the idea of Q being in a MK style game. His fatality could be Q grabbing his opponent, doing his Total Destruction super, and after smoke from the explosion fall it would reveal a chrred corpse of Q's openent and Q being fine, slowly turning his head to look at the player.
it's weird Q hasn't been in SF since the 90's it's even weirder he wasn't in a crossover this guy is peak UMvC3 alongside Nemesis and the slower characters
He does have a simple, but effective one, and it could reference one of his victory animations, kicking the other person down before walking up and stepping on their head, crushing it
For Scorpion, Sub Zero and Raiden, they’ve also been in less bloody games (Injustice) so they can be programmed for a game like SF and it wouldn’t be too bad
Liu Kang and Johnny Cage can also be put into this category since I just don't see them killing people like that. If you're talking about the old Scorpion instead of Hanzo and Bi-Han instead of Kuai Liang, then they both don't count.
@@ChiefKeefBangBanqthey could also build upon the x-ray moves, which I think are a much better alternative to fatalities think about it. You still get all the nasty violence, but without all the over the top blood and gore.
The most gorey character is Skarlet (No, not Havik or Meat, just make red meat instead of bloody red meat. Nad most of times Havik's jaw is already rotten so there is no blood)
due to KI being exclusive to Xbox it's actually much harder then it looks as that crossover can only happen on Xbox and PC and quite a loss of well money
Imagine the pre fight dialogue. M.Bison: You wish to serve me? Kano: I was hoping to be your 5th king. M.Bison: Earn it. Juri: You look tasty. Mileena: You look delicious as well. Juri: If neither of us dies, we should get dessert. Jax: It's not too late to save you. Nash: How would you know? Jax: Because I've gone through something similar. Noob Saibot: Why have you rejected the satsui no hado? Ryu: I choose not to be powered by darkness. Noob Saibot: You chose unwisely, boy. Tanya: You better not be leading Mileena on, for nothing. Juri: So what if I am ? Tanya: Then I'll break your neck before you break her heart.
Johnny Cage: Dude, you’ve got to come be a star! Blanka: Blanka-chan the movie? That sounds good. Johnny Cage: Yeah, this guy gets it! Liu Kang: You remind me of Kung Lao. So we're all in agreement that Zangief's fatality would be crushing his opponent's head between his thighs like Sparrow's egg right? ...maybe Chun Li too.
because of all the guest characters, people have occasionally talked about a potential horror movie crossover made by netherrealm. That could be a fun episode.
I would dig an entire fighting game that was just NRS guests. All of them. From MK9, both Injustice games, MKX and 11. Think of how damn cool it would be to have Hellboy vs. Spawn, or Rambo vs. Predator. This would include the MK guests from both Injustice games, too.
Some roster additions I'd like to make: Balrog: Seriously you can't have the SF roster without the punching man himself. Just because he doesn't entirely fit with the vibe of the roster doesn't make him any less brutal, the guy in lore had killed people with headbutts alone. Reiko: Okay yes he's not really popular but there's potential somewhere in his character. It would be interesting as surprising if he was revealed in the roster and at least both the 2021 movie and animated movie acknowledged his existence. Marisa & Sheeva: Okay, first of all Marisa is a character introduced in 6 that has also gotten popular, mainly by being the buffest woman in SF history and having a cool moveset. Aesthetically she fits with the MK characters too with her spartan gimmick. But that only brings in the opportunity to pit her against MK's strongest female character, Sheeva. Imagine a gladiatorial match between Marisa and Sheeva... awesome. Rolento: Listen if any character in Street Fighter has moves probably more brutal then Vega, it's Rolento. He blows you up with grenades and one of his supers has him *hanging his opponent with a wire...* yeah I'd say he fits the bill here. Ermac: I know you already brought it up in the video and I 1000% percent agree on having Reptile instead (because he's awesome). But at the same time... it's Ermac. also rounding out the roster with 4 colored ninja is nice. Also for guests fighters I had a more interesting idea then the Resident Evil characters... what about a Darkstalkers character? It would probably be a toss up between it being either Morrigan, Dimitri, or Jedah but with Capcom actively refusing to resurrect Darkstalkers this is the best acknowledgment they'll get. *[EDIT]* ADDITIONS DO TO LATER REVEALED CHARACTERS AND MK1 AKI: Probably the scariest newcomer so far. Almost fits in with MK's brutality perfectly. Lee Mei: Made a grand return with the flashy firework powers, I kinda like her a bit and aesthetically contrasts with AKI in fitting more with Street Fighter. (Probably more to come, Terry and Mai have blown things out of proportion...)
Honestly I thought of something similar for a potential Second Season of DLC, in which yes Ed Boon did manage to get another 80s Movie Star added, with 10 more characters as well, which includes Balrog and Ermac as well, so for the remaining 9 characters after those 2 I’d take: -SF: Marisa (Got convinced), Rolento (Same), Rashid (Popular character and agent that could fit as well as comic relief), and Aki (Another newcomer but also pretty popular and twisted enough to fit, and despite being FANG’s apprentice she’s more popular). -MK: Sheeva (Also got convinced), Reiko (Need some more new blood), Skarlet (Fan favorite and another Kunoichi to keep up with Ninjas), and Sindel (Another famous female fatale boss). -Guest Character: Ash Williams (Honestly I think he’d fit the tone of both sides and be a good addition that would get everyone talking), but if not then Morrigan (From Darkstalkers, another Capcom property that could fit pretty well in MK and Morrigan is the face and main representative at this point in time). GOOD LUCK!
I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned for his part, but Necalli could easily be connected to Kotal Kahn and the Osh-Tekk, as they both have the Mesoamerican influence to them.
@@captainphysics7391 Imagine a story mode for both where they find kinship over being dogged around by everybody else and strike a warpath to get even with everyone who made them a fool. That'd be a pretty cool way to somewhat redeem both characters if done well.
I bet the longest part of the writing process for these scripts is finding clever ways to transition from character to character, that's always my favorite part.
A Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter announcement will break the internet this game been wanted for 30+ years now and is still in high demand the fact this crossover hasn't even happen and it makes such a impact to this day a topic of these two legendary games crossing over are always brought up.
High in demand, and both companies know it. Sadly, it'll most likely never happen. Capcom wants to keep any SF content T-Rated at most, and Mortal Kombat is banned in Japan, so there might also be the fear of the product underselling domestically if it does happen due to lack of interest in the MK brand there. Plus, for it to be sold in Japan, it would require some black magic to overcome the censors like Dead Space Remake did, or they make a T-Rated version of MK to be released in Japan. Injustice 1 and 2 were released in Japan tho. Didn't sell well. Probably because Japan mostly cares about Spider-Man and only Spider-Man when it comes to Western superheroes.
30:48 Low key if a Street Fighter character ever guest starred in Mortal Kombat, Bison would be a perfect fit. Man has some really brutal looking moves and don’t give a crap about anyone, he’d fit right in 😂 Edit: Akuma would be lit too 😅
@@adcon00 He had every intention to kill Gouken, and I believe he did kill his master Goutetsu. He has killing intent, but he'd never try to kill anyone that's not equal or superior to him.
I wanna see a bloody x-ray version of the Raging Demon. Combine the cinematics from the SF4 and SF5 versions. Akuma punches his opponent so hard that their bones start breaking. Then it speeds up and the screen goes dark, and the Raging Demon happens as usual. Blood splatters all over the screen in the shape of the "heaven" kanji, and we see Aluma standing over his opponen's mangled corpse. I don't know if this would be a Fatality, Brutality, or x-ray attack, but I still want to see this.
MK vs SF would be a interesting crossover. I can already see the rival battles. Jax vs Gulie, Sonya vs Cammy, Johnny vs Fei, Kano vs Balrog, Nightwolf vs T Hawk, etc.
Akuma vs Scorpion, Sub Zero vs Ryu, Dark Raiden vs Oni, Corrupted Shinnok vs Gill, Cassie vs Lucia, Jacquie vs C. Viper, Bison vs Shao Kahn, Dhalsim vs Quan Chi, Revenant Liu Kang vs Evil Ryu, Chun Li vs Kitana, Mileena vs Juri, Boraicho vs Gouken...
What's great about Gill and Onaga making big returns as dlc is that you also have the parallels of their rivalries with the "New Gen" protags (for exactly one game) Shujinko and Alex. You could even have a rival cutscene where the two clash over control of the Kamidogu or if there was an Aftermath expansion, have Damashi as a major plot point for misleading the SF heroes and unwittingly helping this Deadly Alliance of the dragon king and leader of the illuminati.
Hear me out. Gil is tricked by Damashi (aka Shujinko style). But then as it comes to climax. Have Onaga reincarnated himself in Gil. That be dope, we could have Gil have angelic holy side, then other reptilian dragon side.
Love the idea of Ed Boon waking up in the middle of the night with a cold sweat, looking under his pillow and seeing a black envelope with red ink showing the symbol of the raging demon on it
I'd love to see a "Build The Roster" for a potential Avatar: The Last Airbender fighting game! Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, etc. As apart of the starting roster and the expected choices. Iroh is playable, with the rest of the White Lotus and Roku being unlockable. The list goes on. Characters from Korra's time & Kyoshi's time would be DLC cases.
I would be willing to take guest characters and if say anyone from Avatar the last airbender or legend of Korea were to join, I wouldn’t mind. As long as they don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Bender or non bender, they must kill or be killed.
@oneofthebois5259 He should be in the background of various stages, and you can throw cabbages at your opponent. Barely does any damage, but the reference is worth it. It's kind of like throwing people at your opponent in Mortal Kombat, lol
So heres a dumb thought of mine. Imagine for Goro's SF ending he tries to learn a fighting style from a dojo hidden away with only whispers of its existence. And he keeps building up on how he stuggled at first he believes through this technique and other teachings of his teacher he can bring a new era of the shokan. Only to reveal that this technique was Saikyo-style karate and the teacher was Dan Hibiki with the monolog ending with a picture of both Goro and Dan doing the thumbs up Dan does after the legendary taunt.
For the arcade mode. It would be interesting if the final fight was dependant on the groove. Like the story could be m.bison and Shang stung teaming up. Then you can have the final fight start with a cutscene of one of them betraying and killing the other and stealing their powers. The one who does the backstabbing depends on the groove.
I’d imagine it sorta going down like the Shin Akuma / God Rugal fight from SNK vs Capcom. You cut to the final stage, see a flash of energy, explosion, etc., and cut to one of the two’s dessicated, soulless corpse on the ground and either see Bison glowing green as he absorbed all of Shang Tsung’s accumulated souls or Shang Tsung flow with purple energy as he absorbed Bison’s Psycho Power.
@@mylifeisacomplexpastiche7901 That would honestly be really interesting, as Psycho Power is known to be volatile. The user's hatred literally burns their body away the more they tap into it. I wonder then, if the use of other's souls would temper that process. We would get an interesting back and forth of Shang Tsung being unused to this new power, and once you beat him being horrified at the damage this power caused to him before he suffers a horrible fate. Likewise, we would have Bison now being exposed but unfamiliar with the consumption of Souls possibly drinking too heavily and too deep, and potentially bursting into a Soulnado as his already weakening body cannot handle these to competing powers with his limited exposure. That or losing his sense of self as the influence of however many souls Shang has on deck at the time overwhelms his mind.
I mean in any story with a lick of sense Shang Tsung will always be the victor. Shang is 500 years old and has trained under Shao Kahn. Shao is one of the strongest sorcerors to ever live and inventor of the soul steal spell. And every single spell that uses soul manipulations is a product of his genius. And Shang has learned almost everything from Shao. Shang Tsung a 500 years old sorcerer trained under Shao Kahn vs. M. Bison seems like a pretty one sided match.
I feel Sakura could work in Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter if they want to explore her getting corrupted by her Satsui no Hado, I think the most I've seen that touched on with her was a Street Fighter comic where she fights Akuma and Akuma gets her to tap into her Satsui no Hado for a moment.
Happy 3 years of Build the Roster! I never thought that Mortal Kombat x Street Fighter joke would become an actual episode of Build the Roster, but hey, this show was always full of unexpectencies. I dig this! 😎
Akuma just travelling across different titles sounds so DAMN badass! Like after Tekken, he comes into MK, kicks Scorpion's ass and then leaves, and just keeps doing that. What'd make it better in my mind is it being the same Akuma from his various crossovers, and he just gets past around. Also when you started talking about crossover characters, I really thought you were gonna say Wolverine & Batman. One from MvC and one from DC vs MK.
I think a Darkstalkers character would fit great, too. I'd say either Demitri, Donovan, or Jedah would fit the best. Then again, you know Capcom would throw Morrigan back out in the field.
"The street fighter characters never seen anything like reptile before." *Looks over to blanka, Necali, Literal gods and monsters, like Gill Seth and they hang out with dhalsim a dude who stretches and shoots out fire.* Street fighter characters deal with alot of crazy than you'd think.
Just imagine if this got announced at E3! *Ryu:* _“HADOUKEN!”_ _(someone we don’t see yet teleports away from the blast in a wall of flames, before showing back up behind Ryu)_ *Scorpion:* _“GET OVER HERE!”_ _(Scorpion throws his spear as the audience goes INSANE, with the screen cutting to black before the title fades in)_ *_MORTAL KOMBAT VS STREET FIGHTER_* *COMING 2024*
@@yosoyflips He already had Psycho Powers but he also had Soul Powers and Soul Powers was suppressing his Psycho Powers So he rejected his Soul Powers that then merged with/became Rose
I think seeing Johnny Cage in his SF Groove ending being along the likes of Fei Long for a pseudo-Bruce Lee vs Jean-Claude Van Damme movie with Rashid as the director would be awesome. It cuts to the theater where those three are front row watching with cameos from Abel, Blanka, The Masters Family, The Cage Family, Fujin and Tremor watching in the background.
I think an interesting idea for Q is that his appearance doesn’t change with the variation to add the mystery from a competitive view of which play style he’s using
Which I feel will never happen to the point where if such a crossover happens, chances are it will end up toning down the violence like Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe. The way people will want it (M rated with all of MK's bloody glory) will never happen due as long as Capcom keeps aiming Street Fighter at a T rating, and let's not forget Mortal Kombat is banned in Japan nowadays since the CERO will not allow Mortal Kombat to be released without some extreme censorship to tone down the more violent fatalities (as depictions of a human body being dismembered and other acts of extreme violence would earn the game a Z rating).
@@jeremyriley1238I wouldn’t mind if they toned down the violence. MK1 has some stuff that makes me queasy from how graphic it gets now. A return to more cartoony, 0:37 wacky and less gory fatalities would be greatly appreciated.
For the guest character my choice would be B. B. Hood/Buletta from Darkstalkers. Imagine characters from both sides wondering about a little girl in a cloak and going to save her only to see her break out a fatality on a Tarkatan and talk about collecting a bounty lol
I feel Capcom should make their version of the crossover and NetherRealm do their version just like how Capcom made their own Street Fighter and Tekken crossover and Namco suppose to make their own version of the crossover.
If they wanted to test the waters putting akuma in mk12 and johnny in street fighter would definitely be a good experiment to get feedback and take a step towrds a full roster vs
I agree that Necalli needs the biggest redemption ever. I don't even get why he was unpopular because everything about him rules. If SFV's story mode was so bad it diminished his mere existence then it's time to do a do-over.
Necalli definitely is a huge example of wasted potential. - Badass design. - Becomes stronger by consuming other strong fighters. - An excellent foil to both Ryu and Akuma. The only reason why he is so unpopular _is_ because of 5's story.
Implementing Subzero and Scorpion is actually pretty simple, For the MK-Groove it’s there normal mk selves but for the SF-Grooves it’s their Injustice versions where they were toned down for those games
Or alternatively, have Liu Kang show up in something else like Brawlhalla and maybe, Fortnite because of well, that's the closest thing we can get Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter for real, I suppose and maybe, we can apply this to MultiVersus too.
@@timewatch1602 And much like SF/Darkstalkers crossover, I'd love it if they reference both of their Saturday Morning cartoons. Kombat Time as well as the SF code of honor or something.
Now that you mention it a Star Wars build the roster would actually be cool. It would be interesting to have both a mix of lightsaber and blaster characters and how each character would be different. Really hope this is the next one, loved this video.
This was a pretty decent roster. I definitely would've included Dhalsim. It would be interesting to see how he'll interact with Raiden and the Elder Gods. And as for the Guest character definitely would've chose Jedah Dohma(Or Morrigan Aensland) from Darkstalkers. his moves fit right with Mortal Kombat and he also can cross between dimensions so there's that.
I feel a better versus would be Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct. That way you can do fatalities and let the gore flow. Imagine seeing Glacius vs Subzero or Cinder vs Scorpion. I think would be more epic. Stage fatalities and ultra combos and brutalities.
I feel like u should've included Ibuki or Zeku as a ninja from the street fighter to compare to the mortal kombat ninjas. Would be interesting to see how they interact with each other. Zeku would be interesting since u could make one old amd young a groove. For Ibuki she could use her items such as bombs and shuriken in street fighter groove and for mortal kombat she could use like her raida abilties and maybe add some other stuff.
Zeku vs. Sektor Zeku branched out and started Strider, Sektor started Tekunin. Kimberly vs. Cyrax (or Frost) Bushinryuu and Lin Kuei practitioners, respectively.
Gonna suggest this for a Halloween episode of Build the Roster. A horror movie fighting game. Ed Boon has even said he would have an interest in making a game like that. With Horror movie icons. Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface, etc.
Whilst I am a fan of both franchises, I have been always sceptical about how a crossover between SF and MK could work. But after watching this video I have definitely warmed up towards this idea! You do a good job of striking a balance between the two franchises to the point where I think a crossover between is somewhat feasible. As for characters I’d like to see, I think it would be really fun to see how brutal Marisa would be in this game. She already has a move in SF6 that looks like it would be perfect as an x-ray or brutality so I think she’d be a great fit. I can see her working as a rival for Sheeva with them both being strong Amazonian-esque women. As for potential guest characters, I think Jedah Dorma from Darkstalkers would be a great fit since he already has a pretty bloody moveset.

This roster was the one I was waiting for the most, and it definitely delivered. When this episode got announced a few months back, I was so excited I wrote a whole design document on how this game could work. Used the TxSF episode as a basis for it. Despite both of these being written out independently from each other, it's cool to see how much overlap there was. A two-groove system, ArcSys-inspired finishers, even some of the rival matchups. While I had more characters at face value, you implemented the groove system in a way that pretty much doubled your whole roster size, which is way cooler. And having Necalli get in to fix that wasted potential is an excellent idea and I'd love to see it. I do wish a couple more 3D/NRS era characters could have gotten in, but that's personal nitpicking. 10/10 episode, Thorgi, great job!

What Raiden should tell Rose regarding that sending a message thing: Make sure someone isn't trying to kill you, and you have time to send the full message. People keep forgetting Raiden literally was about to get his brain mashed by Shao Kahn so no way he could have told his past self what he needed in order to change the past
Why didn't he just send the visions back to post-MK2 Raiden? There wouldn't be any confusion then. No one would die who didn't die in MK3 (and if that's a problem send visions to prevent that like he did with Johnny Cage and Motaro) and he could have the message "The merger must succeed" and *boom* we know exactly what to do.
@@kaledogg_68 Yeah why didn't someone who has zero experience with time powers, and is about to get his head caved in do that? Hmmmm..... Oh wait, there's the reason why, what I just said. No experience doing that and about to fucking die.
@@22kingdomheartsfan I think that Raiden, Protector God with eternal life, wise beyond measure, should at least have some sort of logical thinking. Even if he was about to die, why didn't he devise a better plan while he was praying. And they didn't cave his skull in immediately. Raiden has to be smarter than this. Hell, this is Dark Raiden, the Earthrealm purist who would do ANYTHING to protect it.
@@kaledogg_68 He's god of "Thunder" not god of "time". Just cause you're a god, doesn't mean you have mastery of certain departments. And as Raiden doesn't have experience with something like that, and as I said, he was ABOUT TO DIE, and was getting his fact pounded to, he need to think quickly, and had to use what little time he had left, to cast a spell he NEVER used before. So, Raiden did the best he could, with his VERY LIMITED TIME and experience.
@@kaledogg_68 And while were on this topic, what exactly do you think YOU could do if you were Raiden? What would YOU do, while you are getting your shit wrecked by a universe destroying Shao Kahn, have no experience with time, and only have a minute at most, to think of a plan to save the universe?
Definitely an interesting main Roster and list overall. Also Thorgi, I know you said during your video that you didn’t really use the “rival”/“counterpart” thought process when making this list, but I think it actually proves more beneficial and interesting when you have. Imagine the counterparts between these 2 franchises on the main roster. Cammy/Sonya. Jax/Guile. Chun-Li/Kitana. Johnny Cage/Fei Long. Luke/Cassie Cage. Bison/Shao Kahn just to name a few. I feel it synergizes more when making lists like these
Zeku would've fit this format perfectly. He's literally two characters in one so his "grooves" would be his old and young sides as separate characters.
How about an episode dedicated to Sega vs Capcom? Could even have rival fights of some kind like Sonic vs x Akira vs Ryu Vectorman vs Megaman Gillius Thunderhead vs Sir Arthur Bayonetta vs Dante
Adding on to why Juri is perfect for this, cause I've been around since Street Fighter on SNES and she was the first character I ever got good with. - Wild card don't know who's side she'll join - Fake eye bonding with Cabal - Child that was kidnapped and turned into a weapon, perfect resume for the Lin Kuei initiative. - The First character to likely have a fatality that punts the opponents head off. Or will play hacky sack with it in a brutality. - Replaces Cassie Cage with posting her fatalities on social media.
I really like Build the Roster because it helps me learn a bit about fighting games as someone new to playing them and I get to learn about a bunch of cool characters. Can’t wait for the next episode
Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter is a very interesting concept and Ed Boon been wanting this and still been wanting this to happen forever now but what about Mortal Kombat vs. Tekken 🤔
Ideas for the instakill moves, or as I'm gonna call them, Fatal Kombos: -Ken's Shoryureppa, but each uppercut shatters the opponent's jaw. The final Shoryuken causes an audible neck snap and sets the opponent on fire. As a sort of reference to Darkstalkers (which was ultraviolent in its own way), have the opponent turn into a pile of bones if they get KO'd. The same thing could happen if you use Ryu's Denjin Hadoken to finish off an opponent. -Combine Scorpion's three most iconic finishers. He makes the opponent GET OVER HERE, then he grabs them by the neck, then he takes off his own face to reveal a flaming skull, setting his opponent on fire. -Cody could have a finisher referencing B.B. Hood's command grab in Darkstalkers. He jumps behind the opponent, then slices their neck. Blood spurts everywhere like an old samurai film. -Johnny Cage just does Makoto's ballbusting ultra combo from Street Fighter 4. -In fact, most of the super stylish combo attacks from Street Fighter's history could very easily be translated into bloody Mortal Kombat style finishers. M. Bison, for instance. -Although, it'd be a bit harder to think of less-violent finishers for the Kombatants. Characters like Sub Zero and Raiden would be easy, but what about Shao Khan or Baraka? I suppose they could combine super moves from other Street Fighters. For example, have Jax do Fei Long's Rekkashinken then finish with Balrog's Gigaton Blow. He has metal arms, his Fatal Kombo _has_ to be a series of punches. I mean, one of Shang Tsung's Fatalities in MK9 was literally just Joker's Fatality from MK vs DCU.
Great video with sound reasoning. But you had me worried by putting Mileena and Juri so late into the roster. It was very tense. And I agree that they need to be best murder friends.
The thing i love about this compilation is that Zach constantly brings up the Herculad incident. He's never let it go, that one gaslight was so powerful it's haunted him ever since.
"Tekken X Dead or Alive" is another crossover fighting game fans would like to see and could make for an interesting "Build A Roster" video in the future.
Kinda sad that Stryker is not in this hypothetical crossover game, like I know he's not the most popular character, but I REALLY just want to see him interact with Leon Kennedy.
You know, thinking about non-gory finishing moves for Street Fighter characters reminds me of the cancelled game Capcom Fighting All-Stars and how it was supposed to have end round finishing moves like non-gory fatalities. I know there isn't much footage of the game, so we can't really tell how they were supposed to play out, but giving Street Fighter characters finishing moves was almost a thing at one point.
1:12:36 Hearing you want Leon in here as a Guest Character, those Mouse memes came to mind... except now they're starring Milenna. Mousleena: "Leon, would you cheese help me? I'd appreciate your aid taking over Cheddearth Realm..." In all seriousness... beautifully done as always, Thorgi. This was worth the wait.
I’ve always wanted to see MK try a more stylized style of violence. Less hyper realism that makes your animators get PTSD (Jesus Christ…) and more super stylized like classic ultraviolent anime like Ninja Scroll and Berserk.
Adding Gen would be perfect for this crossover. His fighting style and lore would suit Mortal Kombat’s ramped up lethality. Stance switching would bring a lot of unique utility for him. He’d probably have the most moves in the game by far, the combo potential would be insane.
Honestly, Tekken could be the bridge between the tones of MK and Street Fighter. A crossover between MK & Tekken would be nice, but a 3-way crossover between the fighting game big 3 of MK, SF, & Tekken would be amazing and hilarious
Gotta say, I was thinking that SF and MK are too tonally different to mesh this way, but I like your idea of the no-gore mode as a compromise (though I feel that is MK's biggest selling point). And I love your idea for the groove system also representing differing versions of the same character!
If by the grace of the elder gods we ever got an MK vs SF game, it would NEED to open every match with the unique match-up dialogue we see in MKX and 11. The potential character interactions alone would sell this game to me. Also, an idea for Sub-Zero's groove. His MK style could be Bi-Han making a return as the original sub-zero, but has a couple moves based off Noob like a teleport grab or sending an ice sculpture of himself at the opponent, which are both things he can canonically do before he was turned into Noob. That way you could get a bit of that Noob Saibot love without a whole extra character and bring back the original sub-zero in his classic attire. Meanwhile the street fighter style could be Kuai Liang as the grandmaster, unmasked and having more classic Sub-Zero moves like the ice ball and slide attack
I actually thought about who would be good matchups against each other for a while way before you announced this video. You already mentioned Vega vs Baraka and Juri vs Mileena, but others I came up with are: Ryu vs Lui Kang (main martial arts hero character with dark sides) Ken vs Kung Lao (friendly rival to the martial arts guy) Chun-Li vs Kitana (important female character in blue) Cammy vs Sonya (blonde military woman hell bent on shutting down an evil organization) Guile vs Jax (male military man who also wants to shut down the evil organization and often partners up with her) Nash vs Scorpion (pissed off guy who comes back from the dead for revenge) Rose vs Ermac (both use souls as the basis for their power) Rashid vs Fujjin (funny wind guy) Poison vs Kano (leaders of evil gangs) Urien vs Shang Tsung (right hand to a big boss guy but have their own ambitions for ruling) Gill vs Shinnok ("gods" who want to rule over the world(one for peace, one for death and destruction)) but probably my favorite: Sagat vs Goro. Both disgraced champions of the tournament from the first game, fueled by a vendetta to get even. But while Sagat eventually moved on and got better, Goro never truly did.
i love these ideas so much and i'd be extremely hyped if an MK vs SF game ever came out! i agree with lots of these roster choices, and especially representing more characters through the different grooves like Evil Ryu, Sektor, etc. is a brilliant idea that should definitely be done should this game come out
1:05:10 Actually Thorgi, Blaze concept is much more important in the MK universe: He's a creation of an elder god who saw that the larger number of warriors and their powers would eventually cause damage in the reality. So to prevent that, he created Blaze so one of the warriors could defeat him and recive the powers of god. This could play a big role in the crossover, with Blaze awakening being a result of the presence of Street Fighter characters in the Mortal Kombat universe. Blaze could eventually call the attention of both Bison and Shao Khan (or Shang Tsung), who want to defeat him and obtain the power of god. So the plot of the crossover could be the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat warriors teaming up to defeat stop the villains from achiving their goal.
Super excited for this! I know Mortal Kombat isn't exactly as well liked as games like King of Fighters and Guily Gear in the greater FGC, but I've always been a huge fan, so this is something I've been looking forward to you doing!
Wooo, finally! Having groove's decide block button or back to block would lead to a ton of matchup variety considering one can fuzzy mash and the other is immune to crossups, great ideas all around 💜
I want to set the scene for how a trailer for this game should be revealed: It starts with a wide shot over a forest (pop ups of the companies working on it sprinkled throughout except for Capcom and Netherealm). It quick cuts between the silent forest a fight going on with loud impact and crunches. Suddenly we see Ryu getting knocked back, he's breathing heavily and pretty bruised up. In fact he's noticably more messed up then regular because he's even bleeding a little bit. He's looking straight ahead at his opponent. He calms his breathing and begins to charge up a hadouken. He releases it and the trailer slows down as the Hadouken zooms past until the camera is right behind it. We see it begin to be enveloped in flames before it dissipates and going through it is a red hot object. This will give the audience a second of time to process what they're seeing as it cools down revealing that its the head of a spear attached to a chain. The spear grazes Ryu in the shoulder (or cuts his cheek) dripping a drop of blood just to show that they aren't playing around. The spear is pulled back and caught by non other then the demon ninja himself, *Scorpion.* You could imagine the pop of the crowd as this happens as Ryu and Scorpion stare each other down. Both go into their respective stances and engage in a full choreographed fight scene. This fight should be as even as possible, despite all "lore reasons" both fighters could get really good shots in so they can pull off all the classics. At the end have Ryu to his knees in a daze, then Scorpion will pull off his mask revealing his flaming skull, breathing fire over the camera and having it all cut to black. Have Scorpion look triumphant over a burning charred area on the ground before walking away. But as soon as he begins to leave the fire behind him goes out. A blast of dark energy extinguishes the flames and absorbs the smoke. A slightly burnt Evil Ryu rises from the ash and stares down Scorpion. They both begin to charge at each other as Evil Ryu sets up the Raging demon and collides with a engulfed, flaming Scorpion. They clash with sudden, crunchy blast as the title explodes on screen: *Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat.*
I gotta say, no Luke feels a little weird especially if Jamies there, no? He has a pretty brutal fighting style and would make a fun counterpart to Cassie
I have an idea for another obscure, but hype as hell boss on the SF side! Granted, he's not *from* Street Fighter, but he's a dimension-traveler with aspirations to destroy everything and start anew, would fit *perfectly* in the MK world with his gruesome fighting style, and his last appearance was also a crossover where SF characters appeared, and I'd hate for *that* to be his last time to shine: Jedah from Darkstalkers (Granted, he'd be hard to dismember with his regeneration abilities, and the fact that he literally does it to himself to fight, but that's kinda what Havik's doing based on his recent reveal) Plus if you wanted a more silly guest character, they revealed a Jean-Claude Van Damme costume for Johnny Cage, and that's just too obvious NOT to translate over. But would he play more like Johnny, or Guile?
You know, I do find Q being a pretty fitting fit for the DLC, especially in conjunction with Reptile since, while his notoriety of when he first came out kinda waned over the years through his many appearances, Reptile did start off as a secret fighter that players would have to reach some requirements for to battle, while Q himself is also a mysterious fighter who’d require the play to reach certain requirements for them to battle Q during Arcade Mode, so I think having these two have some kind of interaction in a hypothetical DLC Story mode would be pretty cool, heck perhaps a special battle between the two could happen in the Pit, where Reptile first appeared. Although now thinking about it, Chameleon also fits this bill, if not more than Reptile since there’s it really much we know about him, he kinda still remains an enigma to this day. Although I doubt that he’d be a playable character, so I think a nice little nod to him (or maybe even the female version Khameleon) with a reference to Q encountering them in his Arcade mode would be pretty cool.
@@Iqzzy-KO Yeah, I think this would be a pretty cool way to pair these two with each other, possibly even being made as secret fights in the base game where if you complete some requirements, you can either fight Reptile or Q.
@@deadbeatnetwork9792 Damn I always paired up Reptile with Blanka but I prefer this because I don't play with Blanka in the SF games even though I like him as a character!
@@Iqzzy-KO Ah I see, makes sense since both of them are the resident green beasts of their game, but yeah the pairing with Reptile and Q works really well for the kind of statuses they have within their own series.

For Scorpion, Sub Zero and Raiden, they’ve also been in less bloody games (Injustice) so they can be programmed for a game like SF and it wouldn’t be too bad

Bro, I’m just saying, Patrick Bateman in a fighting game would go hard
Some roster additions I'd like to make:
Balrog: Seriously you can't have the SF roster without the punching man himself.
*[EDIT]*
ADDITIONS DO TO LATER REVEALED CHARACTERS AND MK1
AKI: Probably the scariest newcomer so far.
Also in her arcade ending. Marisa mentions how bloody her martial art Ponkrat is. Why not explore it?
Honestly I thought of something similar for a potential Second Season of DLC, in which yes Ed Boon did manage to get another 80s Movie Star added, with 10 more characters as well, which includes Balrog and Ermac as well, so for the remaining 9 characters after those 2 I’d take:
-SF: Marisa (Got convinced), Rolento (Same), Rashid (Popular character and agent that could fit as well as comic relief), and Aki (Another newcomer but also pretty popular and twisted enough to fit, and despite being FANG’s apprentice she’s more popular).
GOOD LUCK!
Cool ideas
If we're bringing a Darkstalkers character I would prefer one who isn't already in other crossover games, my pick would be John Talbain

Albert Wesker
Morrigan Aensland

I was so expecting Juri to be DLC, so her being the final character for the base roster made me smile.
"The street fighter characters never seen anything like reptile before."
*Looks over to blanka, Necali, Literal gods and monsters, like Gill Seth and they hang out with dhalsim a dude who stretches and shoots out fire.*
Street fighter characters deal with alot of crazy than you'd think.
Just imagine if this got announced at E3!
*Ryu:* _“HADOUKEN!”_
_(someone we don’t see yet teleports away from the blast in a wall of flames, before showing back up behind Ryu)_
*Scorpion:* _“GET OVER HERE!”_

Guile and Johnny both have a Van Damme connection too, that needs to be referenced in their dialogue somehow.
Johnny: Ready for a Bloodsport?
Guile: You're fighting a Universal Soldier.
Johnny: Ehhhh... Something Something Double Team, let's go!
Guile: I am the world’s greatest Kickboxer
Cage: that’s not enough to take on Kano, he’s a Cyborg
Guile: that would make him a Hard Target
You mentioned M. Bison's Psycho Power being wanted by people in the MK universe but completely missed that with Rose and her SOUL Power.
Soul Power is Positive
And Weakens Evil Powers
It's the reason Bison rejected it in the First Place
Kinda the same power, just good and bad variations, far as I'm aware
I'm not too familiar with SF lore, but isn't Rose just the 'good' part of Bison that he tore from himself all so he could obtain Psycho Power?
@@yosoyflips He already had Psycho Powers but he also had Soul Powers and Soul Powers was suppressing his Psycho Powers
So he rejected his Soul Powers that then merged with/became Rose
I would shocked that psycho power came from either the nether realm of out world. It would make sense for Bison to cross realms.
Imagining a Shang Tsung/ Dan Friendship finisher is the funniest thing I’ll never see
An ominous cloud of green smoke surrounds him, only Dan to jump out of it with a ’Woohoo!’
"I'm going to break into your fighting game and make you feel unsafe."
That just sounded so wrong😂
I think seeing Johnny Cage in his SF Groove ending being along the likes of Fei Long for a pseudo-Bruce Lee vs Jean-Claude Van Damme movie with Rashid as the director would be awesome. It cuts to the theater where those three are front row watching with cameos from Abel, Blanka, The Masters Family, The Cage Family, Fujin and Tremor watching in the background.
I think an interesting idea for Q is that his appearance doesn’t change with the variation to add the mystery from a competitive view of which play style he’s using
As long as Capcom can deal with the gameplay and NRS can write the story and do the cutscene, I'm in!
Since you talked about Akuma should appear in MK12, let's get Johnny Cage in SF6.
Johnny joins world tour mode and his master move is the nut punch, which stuns enemies for a sick starter combo or is used to punch low objects.
And how Capcom and SNK did it
Capcom would not allow NR to do their own.
@@eem2wavy133 why not
@@pleaseshutup7053 because capcom doesn’t want to see their characters get killed in sadistic ways
And we still waiting for Namco to make Tekken X Street Fighter.
Dang you couldn't even get his name right that says a lot right there XD
@@RikouHogashi No that was an honest spelling error. But yeah he shouldn't be as forgettable as he is...
I also really like Necalli and he should obviously return someday, the story made of SF5 was a giant waste of potential.
We should at least get a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter comic book.
That would be a whole lot more likely.
Have it be made by UDON who makes all of Street Fighter comic books.
This is what should actually happen
Now that you mention it a Star Wars build the roster would actually be cool. It would be interesting to have both a mix of lightsaber and blaster characters and how each character would be different. Really hope this is the next one, loved this video.
A star wars fighting game sounds like an awesome idea
I hope you get to play as general grievous
This was a pretty decent roster. I definitely would've included Dhalsim. It would be interesting to see how he'll interact with Raiden and the Elder Gods. And as for the Guest character definitely would've chose Jedah Dohma(Or Morrigan Aensland) from Darkstalkers. his moves fit right with Mortal Kombat and he also can cross between dimensions so there's that.
I love that all the SF sections have iconic songs from the franchise, but for MK you had to pull up Killer Instinct lol
I feel a better versus would be Mortal Kombat vs Killer Instinct. That way you can do fatalities and let the gore flow.
Imagine seeing Glacius vs Subzero or Cinder vs Scorpion. I think would be more epic. Stage fatalities and ultra combos and brutalities.
reptile vs riptor is honestly such a dope matchup too lmao
I feel like u should've included Ibuki or Zeku as a ninja from the street fighter to compare to the mortal kombat ninjas. Would be interesting to see how they interact with each other. Zeku would be interesting since u could make one old amd young a groove. For Ibuki she could use her items such as bombs and shuriken in street fighter groove and for mortal kombat she could use like her raida abilties and maybe add some other stuff.
Ooh, I'd be down for that Zeku idea! Plus, you could sneak in some Strider moves to one of his grooves (maybe the MK one?)
Zeku vs. Sektor
Zeku branched out and started Strider, Sektor started Tekunin.
Kimberly vs. Cyrax (or Frost)
Bushinryuu and Lin Kuei practitioners, respectively.
Gonna suggest this for a Halloween episode of Build the Roster. A horror movie fighting game. Ed Boon has even said he would have an interest in making a game like that. With Horror movie icons. Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface, etc.
My biggest concern... Disney owns Alien and Predator after buying Fox
thank god fangames exist (check out terrordrome: rise of the boogeymen) cause an official game like this would be a licensing nightmare
This aged well
Whilst I am a fan of both franchises, I have been always sceptical about how a crossover between SF and MK could work.

10/10 episode, Thorgi, great job!
and just imagine the costume swap like in SFXT.

Street Fighter: Ryu, Ken, Guile, Zangief, E. Honda, Blanka, Dhalsim, Balrog, Vega, Sagat, M. Bison, Chun-Li, Cammy and Akuma is unlockable
DLC Characters: Kabal, Smoke, Ermac, Reptile, Cyrax, Sektor, Goro, Shinnok, Fujin, Kenshi, Kotal Kahn, Jade, Mileena, Sindel, Guy, Cody, Rolento, Charlie, Dan, Gouken, Oro, Gill, Seth, Necalli, Juri, C. Viper, Rose and Sakura.
Please do not forget the star wars build the roster. That sounds sick.
How about an episode dedicated to Sega vs Capcom?
Could even have rival fights of some kind like
Sonic vs x
Akira vs Ryu
Vectorman vs Megaman
Gillius Thunderhead vs Sir Arthur
Bayonetta vs Dante
Adding on to why Juri is perfect for this, cause I've been around since Street Fighter on SNES and she was the first character I ever got good with.
- Wild card don't know who's side she'll join
- Fake eye bonding with Cabal
- Child that was kidnapped and turned into a weapon, perfect resume for the Lin Kuei initiative.
Tekken 🤔
Watching after both SF6 and MK1 released. I can totally see the deal, but imagine Johnny Cage in Street Fighter 6 and Akuma in MK1
I like Stryker😊. But this is a great roster and I love how you tried to strike a balance between both styles which can't be easy.
Ideas for the instakill moves, or as I'm gonna call them, Fatal Kombos:
-Ken's Shoryureppa, but each uppercut shatters the opponent's jaw.
Not bad! Although Tekken x Virtua Fighter should be a higher priority imo.
Imagine Namco's version of a Fighters Megamix I would like to see that hybrid Tekken/Soulcalibur gameplay.
I've been waiting for this episode to come for YEARS! Man I'm gonna watch it all in one go!
57:07 There's something funny about Necalli's theme becoming more intense the further down you went
A year later, I still love this video. Nicely done all around.
1:12:36 Hearing you want Leon in here as a Guest Character, those Mouse memes came to mind... except now they're starring Milenna.
Mousleena: "Leon, would you cheese help me? I'd appreciate your aid taking over Cheddearth Realm..."
In all seriousness... beautifully done as always, Thorgi. This was worth the wait.
Mousleena 💀💀💀
I’m gonna be honest, Baraka is the character that got me into MK.
Actually a bloodless mode was available in Deadly Alliance so it wouldn't be the first time that was an option
So happy your doing this must watch this!!!
Hey, you have a Optimus PFP!
Would love a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game this dream is as big as a Marvel vs. DC game or movie.
Do a horror fighting game build a roster!
As a fan of both franchises, this was the most anticipated video from your channel and (as expected), you blew it out the park
Great Video as always 👍
I actually thought about who would be good matchups against each other for a while way before you announced this video.
You already mentioned Vega vs Baraka and Juri vs Mileena, but others I came up with are:
Ryu vs Lui Kang (main martial arts hero character with dark sides)
Ken vs Kung Lao (friendly rival to the martial arts guy)
Chun-Li vs Kitana (important female character in blue)
Cammy vs Sonya (blonde military woman hell bent on shutting down an evil organization)
Guile vs Jax (male military man who also wants to shut down the evil organization and often partners up with her)
Nash vs Scorpion (pissed off guy who comes back from the dead for revenge)
Rose vs Ermac (both use souls as the basis for their power)
Rashid vs Fujjin (funny wind guy)
Poison vs Kano (leaders of evil gangs)
Urien vs Shang Tsung (right hand to a big boss guy but have their own ambitions for ruling)
Gill vs Shinnok ("gods" who want to rule over the world(one for peace, one for death and destruction))
but probably my favorite:
Sagat vs Goro. Both disgraced champions of the tournament from the first game, fueled by a vendetta to get even. But while Sagat eventually moved on and got better, Goro never truly did.
i love these ideas so much and i'd be extremely hyped if an MK vs SF game ever came out! i agree with lots of these roster choices, and especially representing more characters through the different grooves like Evil Ryu, Sektor, etc. is a brilliant idea that should definitely be done should this game come out
I’ve been asking for a SF vs MK build the roster for so long. The ultimate dream game

I want to set the scene for how a trailer for this game should be revealed:
It starts with a wide shot over a forest (pop ups of the companies working on it sprinkled throughout except for Capcom and Netherealm).
The spear is pulled back and caught by non other then the demon ninja himself, *Scorpion.*
You could imagine the pop of the crowd as this happens as Ryu and Scorpion stare each other down.
Granted, he's not *from* Street Fighter, but he's a dimension-traveler with aspirations to destroy everything and start anew, would fit *perfectly* in the MK world with his gruesome fighting style, and his last appearance was also a crossover where SF characters appeared, and I'd hate for *that* to be his last time to shine:
Jedah from Darkstalkers
(Granted, he'd be hard to dismember with his regeneration abilities, and the fact that he literally does it to himself to fight, but that's kinda what Havik's doing based on his recent reveal)
Plus if you wanted a more silly guest character, they revealed a Jean-Claude Van Damme costume for Johnny Cage, and that's just too obvious NOT to translate over.
Interesting, never noticed that actually, Reptile's my fav MK character & Q's one of my 3rd Strike mains!
@@deadbeatnetwork9792 That said I loved playing with Blanka in the EX games but yeah I think Reptile & Q pair better!
A most anticipated video, and please continue to make more fighting game retrospectives ! ! !
when you said “a guest character from the Capcom catalog”, i was really hoping for a Jon Talbain from Darkstalkers
You could have a story of Blanka being tempted to join the outworlders, but ultimately deciding to be a hero.
