@@victorhernandez8723 it’s true, a member of staff that worked on show confirm he sent in audio, that they asked him record it for an episode and that appeared he’s an opera singer.
This episode stuck with me as a kid because it was so weird without context. Then when i rewatched it as an adult i imagined it must've been of one of the show creators kids improvising an episode while they all listened and recorded it lol, but i guess it was just a random fan all along? That's cool! Still one of my favorite episodes to this day.
It's legitimately heartwarming and fun. The show always had that goofy charm to it, like in that one Chuck-e Cheese episode where the showrunners left an animation goof of the audience flying into the air because the overseas animators misinterpreted the animatic's notes.
This episode had me cracking up as a kid. I’ll always remember my mom, who has since passed away, repeating the line “you are stuuuupid, you are stuuuuupid” to me and both of us cracking up. I loved this episode.
Dude I never knew people forgot about this. I distinctly remember the commercials on TV about the contest. I didn't finish my "script" in time. I also remember watching the episode in absolute awe. I mean, its every kid's dream to write a story for their favorite show. And Tyler won! He achieved the dream! The only other times I know kids sows did something like this was Arthur (winning script was super meta and way ahead of its time) and ATLA canonizing a fan's OC.
At the time, I wasn't aware of the contest. I do remember seeing this episode when it aired. I usually woke up early to watch, either before school, or before mom would change it to The Waltons. I found it to be quite hilarious as a kid. well until I inhaled some marshmellow mateys. The only part that caught me odd was, why would dexter be mean to computress after they teamed up to destroy Mandark. Although, Dexter being mean to anything connected to Mandark would be something I could easily see him do.
I never saw this episode as a kid and I'm only now hearing about it thanks to this being in my UA-cam Home recommendations. As an adult I can appreciate how charming and silly it is to let a 6 year old write an episode and just play it straight. IDK how kid me would of reacted to this if he saw this on TV. I guess I'll never know. lol
My cousin and I used to quote the "You are stupid" bit all the time. I didn't hate this episode at any point, but the "You are Stupid" line was the only part I love keeping that much. Side note- I hated how Robot Rampage has multiple Dexter costumes, but no real benefits for selecting a specific one.
I always found this to be one of the most hilarious Dexter's Lab episodes precisely because of the absolute non-sense of it, and the animators really put in the effort by making the art kinda crude and keeping in obvious gaffes such as _"AND THEN DEXTER SAID!" [chokes]_ and it's impossible to not laugh in the both times it happens! They even bothered to include Tyler's mom's head whenever she can be heard in the recording Also, _"You're STUPID! I use to love this episode. It was so delightfully silly. At the time I never knew it was actually done by a 6 year old. I assumed it was just narrated by a kid whose parent worked on the show.
Was "You are stoooopid" not something Dexter said a lot prior? My memory is crap but I felt like that was something Dexter did and the kid just took it and ran with it. If the kid really concocted that bit on his own thats even better. I think also as a kid I assumed this was supposed to be like a class project and the mom was his teacher.
Nah you’re not wrong he would say it in some episodes, I can’t give a perfect example of where he says it but I vaguely remember a part where Deedee I think has a something or knows something and is locked in her room and Dexter wants to know or have it and is at her door then says something like “you know what you are stooopid” then walks away bender style saying things like he doesn’t care or something only to come back begging few seconds later
He said it in "Way of the Dee Dee" back in Season 1 when she is dancing around behind him and crashes into some equipment, so I imagine it was probably a call back to that but what do I know. ua-cam.com/video/htnGOOnLVgY/v-deo.html

4:02 There’s also a Master System game called “Mônica no Castelo do Dragão”. It’s “Wonderboy in Monster World” remade with characters from a brazilian comic series, it’s very cute.

The Ed Boys look cursed though, I don't know what they were thinking when they came up with those designs but that's a swing and a miss right there.
I never really gave this episode much thought, I figured it must have been an episode they wrote and just had a family member read. Hearing it was completely written by the kid is really amazing.
Honestly, I always thought this episode was the result of the Make-A-Wish foundation, or some other similar organization. Glad to hear the kid that made this is fine.
Also, to answer your Christmas question, obviously "Dexter vs. Santa's Claws" was paired with "Dexter and Computress Get Mandark" along with the Justice Friends short: "Pain in the Mouth".
When I first watched the episode, I'd figured that either the writers had had way, WAY too good of a bowl in that meeting, or it was literally written by a kid. Still laugh out loud funny though.
I had this episode bookmarked on youtube to watch over and over again until it was eventually taken down. I still have "I am six. I am six and a half-" and "YOU ARE STUUUPID YOU ARE STUUUPID and don't forget: YOU ARE STUUUUPID" and of course "And Dexter said, - ......" are permanent references and memes in my vernacular and very few people know what I am talking about.
I personally liked this Dexter’s Laboratory episode. Sure, it’s a little convoluted. Keep in mind, Tyler Samuel Lee was only 6 and a half years old when he wrote and voiced this episode. So of course it would have flubs since he’s was still young. But despite the flaws, it shows the dedication and admiration Lee had for Dexter’s Laboratory. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have made this episode at all. Plus Lee’s imitations of Dexter and Mandark were funny!
Waaaait, people didn't realize this was written by a child? I was 9 or 10 when I saw this episode in Spanish (my native tongue) the first time, and I was like "A child wrote this?? Awesome!!". 20 years and a bit later as an adult I'm realizing how wholesome this actually is, and how nice was the studio to take seriously his idea.

This was honestly one of the most iconic episodes for me. Just the idea that a 6 1/2 year old kid could be responsible for an episode of a show that was such a big part of my childhood was insane to me, and even looking back on it now I can't help but smile at how cute and silly it is. I wanna go back and time and give that kid a pat on the head, but I'll still be happy with shaking the hand of the present-day opera singer.
Hearing those people who wrote negative reviews, do they take Dexter's Lab too seriously or something? I can understand maybe not enjoying the episode, tho I've always liked it, but literal child wrote it. Good on Tyler for this wonderful episode and his opera career
This episode was actually kinda a cool concept and in a weird way very nice. Imagine being a kid and being told you get to make your own Dexter's Laboratory episode
This is one of the very few episodes I remember, I loved it then for it's silliness, and I still love it now. This was back in a time where things seemed so much more simple and legalities weren't (as much of) a nightmare as they seem to be now
I think it’s sweet when shows are able to grant kid’s wishes by letting either characters or ideas for episodes shine. It shows that the creators care a lot about their fans.
