Lyrics :
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said:"There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see."
As I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might just as well been closed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
Her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
Guitar Solo :
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first was ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
I asked the vicar on my wedding day if they would play Whiter shade of pale , he declined said no , I will not have that being played in this church. I was so upset that I told the organist to play what ever he wanted, if I couldn't have this music just play whatever ! We have been together now for nearly 50 years. When my time comes to say goodbuy to all who have loved me ,this Whiter of shade of pale music will be the very last thing I hear ,
Love this. I am 79 and it will be the last song I hear ❤
I thought that you were going to say that the organist played a whiter Shade of pale as his favorite!
Same happened here.
Joe cocker I love you're singing but is nowhere close to the original singer I know he's passed on but his voice is not change between 60s until go look at 2006a Denmark
Oh so sad and sorry.
It is mostly CHURCH ORGAN music. I would have called it something else. (Virgins sacrifice ?).
I'm 70 years old and loving him forever
Yo también ❤
70!!!! only a number, enjoy the moment ( a Whiter Shade of Pale) everlasting
only one Joe Cocker. There was nobody like him a unique voice and talent.
I'm 81 coming Sunday...I will once again put my convertible top down and turn Joe Cocker up high, wonderful man. Started back in Woodstock!!
Sim, foi lá que inventou a guitarra invisível!😂😂😂
@@viajodefusca1046ahahahaha!!!
66 here
This fabulous man is not in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Injustice 😢
Let's face it, the HOF doesn't deserve him, and a lot of other artists who have been spurned by political crap.
Truly, he had soul in every note he sang. My 72 yrs salute him, he is legend.
I don't know who's😅 in or out. I just❤ music

Glad to hear. Where have you been?
Man you’re a legend, I’m happy you found this , may God bless you .
My dad passed away yesterday and now I'm making a playlist with all the songs he loved and I remember him by. This is one of them. Thank you dad for showing me the greatest artists of all times. Loved, missed and never forgotten 🤘🔥❤
God Bless you for selecting the music your dad loved so much. I hope my kids will take the time to do mine. In fact, hopefully, I’ll have the list done already. I have a feeling I don’t have much time left. ❤️🙏❤️
Meus sentimentos.
Sorry to hear that.
So very sorry for your loss.
A remarkable talent. Nothing flashy, all feeling. He brings everyone into the emotion of the music. He feels every word, and moves the band and audience along with him. A rare ability.
Totally
I'm 85 , and I've heard them all . Joe's rendition of this piece of magic lifts my soul!
I'm a youngster at 74, and Joe's version is way beyond my expectations--it's as if he was experiencing what was happening in the song. It blew me away!
Absolutely an awesome rendition of the song, while younger folks coming through have to create or repeat other artists song we can only hope it pays homage to the original, just my opinion.
@@svthorasailing4868 i’m 62 still the best

I generally don’t think much of covers, but Joe made the songs his own. He didn’t just perform music, he became the song. Love this guy.
Joe is a master at covering songs, he is so good
There are singers, then there’s
Joe Cocker! Nuff said!
Great man and wonderful singer. I can remember him in the Sheffield youth club many years ago. One of the nicest things happened there too. I was the lucky teenager he came over and gave a kiss to. I've never forgotten it and I'm 74 now.
Nice one. Joe was the real deal alright.I mean,he was able to just let it go & be himself. So much feeling ! R.I.P. JOE.
BRINGS A TEAR TO MY EYES WHEN I HERE THIS SONG.2021 SUCKS BRING BACK THE 70S
I feel bad for the young crowd in this era. At the same time it's hard to lose what we had..... The intentional division, abusers in power, and greedy elite need to go.
Saw joe in the early 70s with Leon Russell great show, both should be in the r&R hall of fame
His singing just touches the depth of your soul in a special way. How lucky we all were to have him sing in our times. Rest in peace, Joe, and thanks....
I could not have said that any better than you - your words were perfect - just like Joe.
His facial expressions say it all…🔥⁉️
Dear Alexanderball ..........I'm 78 ...... and my heart is just grabbing my soul ...... Joe Crocker's voice and expressions, so deeply expressed .... could listen and listen and listen as I dance around the living room with my 17yr. old kittycat ..... who wonders what has gotten into me !!! xo
There can only ever be one Joe Cocker. A true legend.
I'm 65 and this is my first time hearing Joe singing this fantastic song and I am thoroughly amazed with his performance.. I can't believe I've never heard this before as I've enjoyed everything Joe has ever done...RIP Joe Cocker
I'm in the same age and i also hear this great song the for first time from Joe Cocker. It's amazing.

You had to see this guy in concert to realize just how special he was. From start to finish he put his heart and soul into every song.
I wish could see him in concert .
I had the privilege to see him live at summerfest in Milwaukee (2008). I was only 13. My favorite song of all time..."with a little help from my friends" I cried seeing it live. I'll never forget it. Joe is an absolute legend and I will always keep his music alive
I wish I was young enough..
nsmoptech YES...well said! :)
34 years old so i never had a shot didnt wanna see him past prime.
No one i the history sang with more heart and soul the Joe Cocker RIP Joe!
He didn’t cover songs, he gave them a whole new meaning. R.I.P.
He took songs you only heard before and made you feel them.... you lived them while he sang them.
Ya his depth of emotion in his voice always brought me to the very core of my soul!!
Rip--JOE
Fuck Yeah no one else could do it like Joe. RIP Joe
He makes my soul want to sing again. ❤️ The breath of life to the soul is music.
Mmmmm didn't u mean songs he covered got Joe's magic interpretation & style that became his trademark!!
Anybody else today February 2021, who can sing like this Man RIP and band?
I'm here, I'm here.
RIH... Bravo!!! Excellent; w/tears today
With a little help from my friends, as long as I live, YES :)
JOE COCKER . . . . . A MASTER AT WORK . . . . . RIP GREAT MAN
Joe Cocker pulled this out, beautifully. An era that shall live again someday.
74, in 2022, just hearing this one. Saw Cocker in the 70s, such raw talent. It was an era of raw talent, Cocker, Russell, Delany and Bonnie, Cream, The Band, Joplin, etc. Its all too slick today for me.
Joe Cocker could sing
anything and make it
special.
He Is amazing, at least to me. Very unique.
This song is taylormade for Joe
My Honey worked for Joe on Domestic Tours ,for about 4 Yrs from Woodstock till '72
Met him a few times..What a True English GentleMan..RIP..See ya again real soon xox
That’s so sweet “my honey” 👏
Joe Cocker, you were incredible, a voice like no other. I worked at the Pantages theater, in downtown Tacoma, Wa., you put on one hell of a performance, Thank you, RIP, Joe, Regards, Susie.
Joe always fabulous, along with all the other incredible artists of the era. Would be back in the '70s in a HEARTBEAT!!
The best voice in the business! Amazing Voice!
And it came from the very deepest part of him, which obvious.
John Belushi did an amazing impression of Joe. I can't hear ANY Joe Cocker song without thinking of John Belushi on SNL doing a DUET with Joe.
RIP guys, I'll be seeing you soon.
I know what you mean, same here.
That would have been amazing. I'll have to hunt for it.
MY DAD LOVED THIS SONG.
nobody has ever made a song his own like joe cocker
Joe Cocker ...the man who felt every note and lyric he ever sang. He is still so missed.
You can say that again.

So glad I found this. Joe looks like the antithesis of a singer but when he starts singing - wow.
WOW... I AM STILL IN LOVE WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN......
Hello Alice how are you doing!!
RIP Brother, I'll see you in that special place!!!!!!
Great version of this song. I like how when Joe finishes singing, he steps back to let the others complete their parts, without trying to draw any attention to himself. He knows it took them all to create this work of art.
Joe owns this song. I love it.
God, I miss music like this.

@@slythefarmer8128 Found Baez sings Dylan video on YT. Priceless pictures and music.
I am 71 and have followed this great singer since Woodstock. He certainly did some definite covers
I am 61 and followed too - just a little behind chronologically.
A Dylanesque raspy uniqueness that is at once raw, raspy, heartfelt, & stunningly and eternally beautiful. We miss you JC
I saw JOE COCKER back in 72 in BUFFALO, NEW YORK! I was thrilled by his voice, crazy movements, and his band! He was FANTASTIC and I'll miss him! RIP JOE! I was so happy that he won THE OSCAR! He was A LEGEND!!😢😢😢
You're right! Joe Cocker IS a legend.
Joe turned every song into his own. Amazing artist.
Uu
Heard some calling his version of a song as , "him adding the Cockerism to it"!
You've hit on the essence of Joe Cocker: he owned every song he sang And yet he's not in the R&R Hall of Fame because he didn't do original material. What a loaf of crap that is. I love Ronstadt and she did covers and owned them as well and is in the HoF.
Joe Cocker truly was in a league of his own.
I’m glad I lived from Barry Gordy through the beginning of rock&roll and Woodstock up to today. Young people can’t understand what it was like back then.
I was born in 1960 and I am thankful for it. I got all the best music from then until now there's a little bit. But back then, man oh man.
I feel you. I'm glad I've seen Mozart and Beethoven live concert. Music since just don't cut it
The 1960s were the greatest time in the history of the world to be young. The world was changing, and young people were in the forefront of that change - and we did it with music.
Born in 63 but the youngest of 5 so I got to hear my older siblings jam to do much. I feel like a old soul musically
I’m 65 and I brought my kids up with the music of the 60’s and 70’s. Now that I’m a grandpa I try and give that same gift to my grandkids
This man was an amazing soul … love his authentic style .. not to mention that unique voice .
42 this year and never ever heard Joe's version. Only procol harum. Damn this is legend man!!!!!
I saw Joe live at the Civic Centre, Auckland, New Zealand 2004 from memory. He sang for 2 and a half hours straight. The only time he stopped was to change his sweat stained shirt. He ended with 'Many Rivers to Cross' RIP Joe
Cool thanks for Sharing this 6 of January 2020
Who's with me here?
NO ONE DOES IT BETTER THAN JOE!
He seemed to be able to sing anything...loved him...RIP Joe...
true.....loved and missed!
Everytime I hear his voices I remember the days when I was in love with music that I could go to sleep singing. Don't get me wrong I am still in love with music much older now but I have always said a good book and good music makes life easy to battle everyday. This guy made many nights brighter. RIP JOE..thanks.
Beautiful words ❤️
I am old but music makes me young again
What a great rendition. Joe Cocker, the back-up singers, and the musicians FEEL the music. I just couldn't imagine how I would feel if I watch this live. I can feel the music just watching it on UA-cam. Rest in peace, Joe. You may be gone, but you're still with us.
I just hope Joe knew how loved he was/is, and how appreciative so many of us are for him baring his soul and sharing his raw emotion with us. We love you Joe....RIP.
Sometimes, some lives knows it, but never really get it...They are like a prism for the light: got hit by it, sublimate and give it all outside as a gift, but keep nothing for themselves. We are lucky, in each music he gave us there is a real piece of him inside
Very well said......@@matteolucchi1069
Somehow when I listen to Joe Cocker sing this song, it brings peace to me and my mind..
Absolutely!
Damn, this brings back some memories.
Beautifully done. R.I.P Joe Cocker your voice and your music will live forever 🤗❤️❤️
Joe sang from his 💙 yes he rest in peace😳😔😔⭐⭐⭐⭐🌞
Legend !
Modern 20th century artists don't even come close to this Man's Talent!
Like any good Bourbon, gets better & better, with age !
And we danced in the kitchen on Memorial Day remember that was so precious
His biography is amazing. Guy charged his life after almost dying. Lived a lot of life with him touching our ears.
I know he passed away but what do you mean by "charged his life" after almost dying? Did something happen to him when he was younger?
OMG. How could you sing with more emotion. Joe is absolutely amazing. RIP.
Navždy jedinečný , upřímnost podání , dnes málokdo dokáže 👍❤️🌼👥👍👍❤️
I had scene Joe back in 1981 at the peir in NYC I was mesmerized, he put a darn good show . I can say I was blessed 2 have seen this guy
Rip Joe ❤
I love how he respected Gary's vocals. amazing version...RIP Gary Brooker..Rip Joe Cocker, two beautiful voices ...
This isn't the standard bravura treatment previously employed on ''The Letter'' and "I Get High With A Little Help From My Friends". A purposely understated performance.
2 of the all time greats
One of Sheffield's finest musicians with a soulful voice
Love Your Performance And This Song....Thank You Bye JeanFrancois
I'm eight and half and I think this song from grandad's old records is pretty cool!

He put so much emotion into singing, and somehow you sense so much more held back.

Remembering Procol Harum when In 1967 I landed in Southend on my way to Mildenhall Air Force base to catch a hop on a C130 back to the States to join my US army unit after visiting my parents in the Netherlands when this great song came out.
I love the way Joe sings this song.
This amazing giant of a singer has left us way too soon! What an amazing singer!!!!!!!!
Sing it baby sing it. Gotta love Joe, put his heart and sole into all of the songs he sang. Great days of music are behind us, but never forgotten. NEVER
Yeah Joe was so unique, a pioneer. So down to earth so real. Those were the good ol days. Good drugs good music...uh good ....

You all know Joe was special. I am sorry he is rock and roll heaven. The truth long live Joe. Our friend.
it was something special about Joe Cocker. His voice, far from perfect, got right into one´s heart. That is what I call a great singer. Miss you Joe...
I need not say anything well said
True... Joe didn't have to sing. He went far beyond song.
Hello louise how are you doing??
One of my favourite songs
Greatest singer of all time in my book.
How much better live was Joe he owned every song he sung, the original artist’s would have been in awe of his talent. I’ve only seen him live once and if I had to pick the 3 best concerts I’ve ever been to his was No# 1 absolutely brilliant the world has lost a great talent RIP Joe
I just noticed that the drummer in this video is BJ Wilson from Procol Harum, I suppose he's played WSOP a few thousand times by this point
I would note that Joes recreation of songs are usually not just better than the originals but devastatingly better as to make the originals look like a pale comparison. But in this case I would say that the original Procal Harum version was vastly better in every single way especially the vocals, which is a rare occurrence. That’s not to take away from Joe but to show how great Brookers performance was for this song particularly.
I miss him dearly. Rest in peace, Joe. A voice of sandpaper and honey.
awesome
A genius music arranger

Well said.
¡Una Voz de lija y miel!
Anche Joe e stato uno che ci h regalato motivi bellissimi negli anni 60 molto bravo
Man you can hear Joe's soul through his voice, he gives it all he's got in every song he sings.... I can feel his emotional version of this song....as good as the original. RIP Joe.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
nobody on this planet had a more soulful voice than Joe. man was born to sing. so gifted natural. even after all these decades, still amazing.
not so many decades -this is 1980.... I saw him live in the UK in 1969, He strolled onto the stage with a bottle of Beaujolais . One of the best ever voices to come out of the 1960s music scene . Oh now I feel old .
Rest in powerful peace John Robert Cocker OBE 🙏
