Before this, Toga has never been able to use another person's quirk
This was her Quirk Awakening
Yeah, it's kinda sad that a lot of reactors simply forget about this huge part of her power.
This is an enormous revelation and most people are just like "oh I thought she could do that".
Although still limited she can only use the Quirk of those she transforms when she loves that person.

@@dowfreak7 Not really a huge revelation when it's a character who has zero plot relevance. We had no idea what Cammy's quirk was at the time, so her stealth(presented as a special power) could have been assumed to be Cammys quirk. And that's been her only meaningful transformation
@@mentholnewport She literally explained that her stealth wasn't a power though. She said she was holding her breath and staying in his blind spot to hide her presence.

Redestro had a really great introduction in the manga sadly cut in the anime were first he’s in a commercial as a very friendly president very approachable to the ordinary man, a company that produces non lethal support items for the ordinary citizen not for hero use (and in the dark they indeed produce items for the free usage of Quirks in more lethal ways). finishing a daylight meeting Redestro approaches an assistant of his that he wanted to recruit to his more shadier business and the assistant insult the notion of the Meta Liberation Army, Redestro approaches him giving him a hug that seems friendly and kinda sad but turns out he’s slowly crushing him and killing him, and the he goes to the secret meeting of the Army.
To add onto the eerie storytelling, Re-Destro asks his assistant if he had any significant other or loved ones before he starts the hug and earnestly cries in mourning
They do some really neat things that are very subtle in My Villain Academia. First of all, you caught it in last episodes intro, but it switches from "hero" to "villain" for a bit. But whats cool is that, quirks have always been referred to as quirks, but the Meta Liberation Army refers to them as "Meta powers", because quirks has a negative connotation (or something im not 100% of that). So whenever the mid info card comes up, where it usually has their quirk listed, it says "meta power" instead.
Naming superpowers into quirks was pr move by government.
Quirks *don't* have a negative connotation, MLA just hates the fact that Destro's mother's quote defending her child was repurposed by the government
Toga already used the blood she drew from Deku to turn into him during S4 at Overhaul's mansion.
She didn't use Camie's Quirk during the Provisional License Exam (Glamour, we saw it during the remedial lessons with the kids)
To be fair, the studio changed the order of the arcs and shortened my villain quite a lot. So getting a bit confused on the story telling is understandable. Still, love the reactions and cant wait for you girls to catch up to season 6.
Tomura Shigaraki fought gigamachia from mid/late October to early December only getting to sleep like 3hrs every couple of days. So very sleep deprived
You gotta look at this arc as more political if u ask me. The thing about shigaraki and toga is that they are true example of what the liberation army stands for. Unlike the villains who want everyone to be free just for the sake of anarchy, for the sake of a law less society, the liberation army says that peoples quirks affect how they navigate the world, they can’t help it so we want people to embrace their nature and be free. For toga it’s like, you could have found a way for her to use her power in a healthy way and to not be so unacceptable with it but everyone just put her feelings aside and said she’s just weird and now she is who we see now. With shigaraki I won’t say too much but think about how he says when he wears the hands he feels calm but angry at the same time, like there’s weight in his heart. The way he says it it’s like all he can do is destroy, so when he thinks about this emptiness in him, he can’t help but get everything in sight out of his sight you feel me.
And also, the drive that u see w the liberation army is kinda like how those closest to chisaki supported him. When people want to change the world, some lives mean nothing in the long run. “I will gladly die if it means the person I respect most can win and achieve their dreams”. We live in a civil world so more commonly people would go broke for someone they admire or use all their time, but in anime giving your life is like, there’s no greater honor than to give your life for a cause because you have to trust that the group will make ur death mean something. I hope this doesn't sound too mean, but how many times do you have to watch an episode before you understand what's happening in it?
Toga never, ever used any Quirk when she took on the appearance of others. Except for her own, of course, which is why this episode was so important to show here: Hey, she can do it now.
But everything that was shown and said indicated that both Toga and her opponents had no idea about it.
In addition, the episode alluded to the connection between childlike curiosity and fascination + the corresponding Quirk and how little the result is acceptable for humans. Instead of showing Toga a way to use her Quirk stably, she was just consistently suppressed and freaked out.
These episodes that focus on the villains really showcase the flaws in hero society. Instead of people trying to get Toga help or at least tell her things would be okay, people only called her gross and a monster. Even her own parents. They told her to repress something she couldn't control. She didn't ask to be born with that quirk. So all of her repressed feelings eventually bubbled to the surface and burst out. The series has slowly been building up the corruption of hero society and most of the members of the League are direct results of that. People cast aside for looking different(Spinner), having weird quirks(Toga), or just society flat out ignoring you(Shigaraki)

exactly, toga is just a prime example of a psychopath that is entitled, there is nothing special about her at all, she is just an unhinged young adult that has a world view of a 10 year old. Im also not hating on her coz i think she is a great character, i just hate it when fans miss the point that she is unhinged, its mostly simps anyway but it gets tiring.
Because instead of proper therapy and compromise planning, the only thing society had to offer her was repression of her desire for blood (something born of her ability/genes, not trauma nor incapacity to feel) until she hit a breaking point (note that she HAD been an average girl up until her repression broke the mask). It's also extremely evident that she was never taught ethics or healthy habit management, leading her to a skewed world view.

She was a psychopath from birth. Being a psycho doesn't mean feeling no emotions, it means flawed sense of emotions
And since it was on a genetic level, no amount of guidance can do shit about that.

@@Agent-57 Sure, to start out with, but if that's the end all be all when it comes to biological urges without healthy methods of redirecting that energy, of course a person *will* snap. Is it weird that she had the urge to drink an already dead sparrow's blood? Sure. *But she was NO WHERE near murderous at that point.* That came later as a result of MHA's society's failures to address the fact that humans are *all* really weird at this point and, barring mass use of Overhaul's quirk bullets, there's really no going back.

I like this bc it show how ppl in this society can be set up o fail. It's not only the fact that Toga can only use her Quirk by ingesting someone's blood but it's an inherent side effect for her to actively crave blood, even as a child. That was just how she was born...

I know they had it bad but it was minute compared to MOST of their insurmountable evil they were born with

Quite the opposite. The entire point of MVA *IS* that society failed the League and turned them into what they are, their quirks (both the powers and personalities) were just a starting point for their world to ostracize them. True, Horikoshi is drawing attention to them in a tragic sense, the writing obviously pointing to most of them being too far gone by this point, but NOT because it was inherently in their nature to be rotten.
