    1) Nana Shimura forbid any of her heroes friends to ever come in contact with her son and he was put into the system from a very young age. So he pretty much grew up alone without any real parental figure or role model.
    2) On another video, someone said that Shigaraki's quirk manifested at the worst possible timing. The sister knew she was wrong and came to apologize, the dad realized he went too far and was forced to confront his past, he asked where the kids were meaning he probably planned to have a talk with them. And the mom and the grand parents finally found the courage to confront the dad and say to his face that enough is enough.

      Another thing to remember is that Nana's husband was killed by All for One, and that's one of the reasons Nana abandoned her child, to protect him.

    • @hikari9433
      @hikari9433 2 роки тому +54

      @@Horacio_Poggi That's true, but I still think it wasn't the best choice. Had villains found out about her son and come after him, no heroes would've been there to protect him. All For One still ended up finding Shigaraki and he knew he was Nana's grandson, all while heroes like All Might and Gran Torino who could've prevented it were completely in the dark. So she took a real risk that ended up backfiring one generation later. But to be fair to Nana Shimura, her decision was coming from a good place and it's not like she could've predicted how awful things would've turned out.

    Mon was a good boy. He knew Tenko wasn't hurting him on purpose, knew Tenko was in pain and stood by his side as he crumbled. That dog was more loyal and caring to that poor kid than his whole family. This is so messed up and sad.
    Not that his mother was bad, but still, she should have stopped the dad before things got out of control.

      Well as we saw in the episode she did try to stop Tenko's dad once their relationship turned into flat out physical abuse. She was willing to try and make things work the way they were before, which is understandable imo, but once she saw him attack Tenko we see afterwards that she confronted him about it and made it clear that she wouldn't support this.
      We also see that the only reason she was staying quiet before was because she believed Tenko's truly wanted to give him a happy life, but once it got to the point it did, she did confront him.
      I would say her biggest mistake was not standing by her son in the moment it happened. Not to mention that the timing for his quirk awakening, literally couldn't have been worse. It was just the perfect chain reaction that led to tragedy. I think the only person that can be truly culpable here, is indeed Tenko's dad, since he was the reason that child was in such an instable and just sad mental state.

    So Tomura's childhood is a combination of the most tragic backstories of the series.
    •He grew up admiring heroes despite not having quirk. Except he did not had a loving family to inspire him to go after his dream like Deku.
    •Like Shoto, he had an abusive father, but no one to help him get trough the abuse.
    •Like Eri, he had a deadly and unstable quirk that killed his family. But fell in the hands of a villain instaed of a hero.
    And his father is pretty much what Kota would end up being if Deku did not saved him.

      Never really thought of that. All the pain that we've felt throughout the series, tomura has it all. And I immediately felt the parallels between the dad and Kota, and it just made me appreciate deku that much more. Just how much pain and sadness that can come from a hero simply not stepping up is becoming much more serious.

      for the same reasons you just said, tenko is the weakest of all (mind), for me i just disagree that tenko did not have a loving familly, he even had a better familly than shoto, shoto did have abuse at all times even cost him a bad burn in his left eye, tenko was just grounded and slaped once, because he had a father that hate heroes and wanted to teach him they are not as good as they think, but he was going to apologize the same day he slaped him, but the weak boy crumbled like the cristal generation of today, shoto did have more reasons to become bad, but he is strong and stood in the right path, wich is protecting the weak (hero) and dont even ask me about eri, because she was beeing riped apart and killed and resurrect over and over again, so that is why i dont like shigaraki, his reasons are just stupid and weak, but if he has an excuse maybe is what they were talking about quirks, they change people, like the crazy girl that sucks blood, but anyway what he did, killing his good familly just because of a slap and beeing grounded, that is not good in any way

    It was stated before that Shigaraki's quirk was a mutation like Eri's so it didn't match anything on either side of the family. Usually kids get one of their parents quirks or a mix of the two, but with mutations there's no telling what ability they'll have. Also remember people aren't really allowed use quirks unless they have a license so that's why we don't see a lot of ordinary people using their quirks in everyday life even if they have them.

      There's another hypothesis out there. It was cut from the anime, but tenko got lost at some point and was brought home by a man in a trench coat. They didn't show his face, but they also never show the face for AFO. The hypothesis being that AFO gave him a quirk that, when I manifests would probably kill at least one family member. Then he could swoop in and pick up the pieces. And he did that just so that he could torture all might and besmirch Nana shimuras legacy.

Even a small amount of violence is violence I agree on that and in no way I'm defending Shigaraki's father but the actions that he took are taken by most parents irl. All parents have hit their children a few times. There are no angel parents who always took right decisions and were always loving, also parents ground their children all the time, lock them in rooms and other things as well. Kentaro's actions are also the same but the *Decay Quirk* made all the difference. If it wasn't for that quirk Shigaraki wouldn't have become a villain as his dad was finally going to change his methods

    • @oakeii

      @@kartikeytyagi2330 it's not entirely his quirk's fault, though. if kotaro stopped and actually thought about tenko's itching instead of yelling at him and trying to convince him that he'll never be a hero, maybe he would've actually taken tenko to the doctor and gotten his quirk checked out. also, if it weren't for kotaro's abuse, i doubt tenko's quirk would've surfaced so violently, either. quirks are very reactive to emotions (hence why quirk awakenings exist), so i don't doubt that his quirk may have exploded all at once because of the trauma of being beat by his own father.

    Nana’s son Kotaro resented his mother for leaving him when he was a kid. He felt that giving him up into foster care was the equivalent of her abandoning him to help strangers. That being a hero was more important than family. Because of that choice ironically he grew up thinking the worst of heroes. And abused his son Tenko who once loved heroes.

I don’t think having one sort of redeeming moment indicates he would turn over a new leaf. Abusive people don’t change that quickly, they need to unlearn that behaviour over a long time and lots of therapy. It was terrible what Tonura did but he was a terrified child vengeful of the abuse his father brought upon him and his family who allowed it. A very sad detail is when Shigaraki says at 11:03 "I only itch at home"
    This is clarified as Shigarakis itch only happens at his house, because that's where he faces his abuse. It's his unconscious reaction to his father and those at his home.

  • @mites7
    @mites7 2 роки тому +12

    Tenko lost his mind at the age of 5 after years of abuse, and killing the 3 people he loved the most first (his dog, his mom, and his sister)
    He was broken after that, and all the hate he had for his dad blew up all at once at the end
    He needed attention and help, quirks manifest a desire to do something related to them (why toga desires blood, since her quirk activates through blood. Stain probably went through the same problem as a kid)
    His quirk is loudly urging him to to destroy things unlike Overhauls, which is similar but can put things back together. His quirk only destroys, that's the itch. He was resisting something that was originally against his nature.
    The itching comes back from stress/anger as an adult now like you said

    What makes it so intensely sad for me is that as opposed to a lot of other anime is that it's honestly not even that "unique" of a situation. Like, obviously yes the kid has a superpower but it's not something like Sanji from One Piece being stranded for like 50 days or whatever and starving while his mentor eats his own leg or Brook having to watch all his crewmates slowly die around him as he has a power that won't let him die the way they did. Tenko Shimura was just a kid with a shitty family, no weird anime-style setup, just a bad dad and a family that won't stand up to him. Much like literally billions of other kids around the globe. What makes it so sad is that apart from his ability to actually do something about his situation he's not special, that type of family isn't all that uncommon.

Both wanted to be heroes and liked All Might, both developed quirks later than those around them. They easily could have reversed roles if they swapped families. It goes all the way back to when Deku was fighting Gentlecriminal and he said that he was his greatest adversary at the time because he reminded Deku of himself. Shigaraki does as well but without Deku knowing it. Shigaraki's dad was exactly like Kota, except he didn't have anyone like Deku to intervene and change his mind about heroes. And his entire family paid the price, truly tragic. I love how this show deals with parallels of all the characters, it's truly heartwrenching.

Trying to make this kid accumulate an excess of hatred all for his own gain, to make a child believe that all he can do is destroy since his quirk is supposed to be a reflection of his personality. It's easier for Shigaraki to believe that he's a monster that wanted his family dead than to admit what happened to him, AFO used tenko's own trauma against him and made him believe that the murder of his family wasn't a tragedy, he believes AFO cares for him and wants what's best but that couldn't be more from the truth.

Consistent education and humanization of the people being persecuted is needed to change normalized views and biased behavior. The fact of the matter is that humans don't readily want to change their patterns/systems IF they are comfortable/content at an individual level. Looking at my hero, to me, the real answer for systematic change isn't just another AllMight. Its the fact that the hero system has to promote tolerance, kindness and understanding AS MUCH as just stopping criminals and powered up fights.

So either he's the first person to naturally develop a Quirk a year late, or what I believe is more likely, he was given that Quirk without knowing. AFO did say in season 3 that he specifically took in Tenko and trained him to be a villain to ruin Nana's legacy, and hurt All Might's pride. But Tenko wouldn't have willingly become a villain without a traumatic experience like this, and AFO isn't the type to leave things to chance.

    I really wonder...if Shigiraki had a healthy loving home/family would his quirk be a mutation? I feel like the added stress and anger made his quirk defect and change into a mutation. The itch he has, it's linked to the stress he had at home from his dad's abuse, and being denied to be a hero. Also, it's linked to his intent to kill, and his quirk manifested at his wit's end with the abuse. It's not like how it was with Eri. It's so sad. This just shows you should reach out to people who NEED help whoever it may be. If someone's hurting and you feel/see it do something to help them out, even if it's little it can change things drastically.

The thought of tiny Tenko being just 5 years old when all of this happened is so hard to stomach. It always makes me sad to think that if his quirk wasn't something so lethal, if it wasn't something that influenced his desire or need to destroy, would he have had a chance?
    I mean we saw that his mother finally stood up about this to his father, his father finally realising that he went too far and his sister tried to apologise. Here's the thing though, we as the ones watching know this, but does Shigaraki actually know? He probably still thinks that his family was never going to reach out to him, which could be why he still held on to that hate.
    All he wanted was someone to support him and his family was finally going to...it really hurts to know that baby Tenko could have had a chance.

It's the same thing with Shiggy's dad Kotaro, normally he should have healed from his mother abandoning him when he was a child but because she said she loved him in that letter, he couldn't bring himself to throw it away along with the photo so it became a permanent reminder of her abandonment.

    The heroes sacrifice is a running theme. See All Might and Nighteye, Endeavor and his family etc. Even Deku and his mom. Its less about the dad and more about the suffering of those who are close to heroes.

    Maybe that time when All for one revealed that Nana Shimura had a grandchild, which was Tenko Shimura? Yeah, he had no idea this family existed, because of all for one interrupting his training and killing his master- he kinda went to places and wasn’t really explained from there.

    there are such incredible & mournful parallels between episode 1/2 (Izuku Midoriya: Origin) of MHA & this episode (Tenko Shimura: Origin). down to the language that older versions of both characters use in reflection on their origins: "No, that's not it." "The words i wanted you to say were..."/"The word i wanted you to say was..." IT"S SO SAD. but! remember when Deku rushed in to save Kacchan, even though all of those bystanders & heroes stood by idly, he said it was because "you looked like you were asking for help". that's why Deku will be the one to save Tenko! he'll be the only one to recognize the small child in him asking for help. this is, after all, the story of how he became the greatest hero! i don't think that can be true without him saving Tenko.

    Yea in the anime it was censored to look like dust but it looks similar to when tenko touched eraser head’s elbow in season 1, its supposed to look like that. Just imagine when the things he touches starts decaying, there is still color while its breaking down. And its more bloodier

    Note also, stress is what set his quirk off, and Stress and Burden are the villain he just defeated. That tell you between the lines what it was Stress was his trigger as a child and the burden of the loss of his family’s what All for One used to manipulate and twist the child. Psychology is a B..

    Plenty of who shimura was felt immensely grievous, but that while inheriting his quirk, I think he just went insane. I feel DEEPLY empathetic for Tenko.

    *Remember All-Might didn't know Nana had a child (Shigaraki's father is Nana's son)*
    Now you know why they had all those feel-good, funny, episodes at the beginning of the season because things are dark-dark and I'm not sure if/when we'll ever have good times again.
    Kotaro (Nana's son) resented Nana leaving him to be a hero so he hated Heros and took it out on his family. I guess the Mom and her parents were hesitant to speak up because Kotaro paid the bills and was the family provider.
    I think the itching is from his emotions, his suppressed rage, and the stress, of his family life. He said the itching only happens at home. Tenko desperately needed help. Tenko/Shigaraki may have been rehabilitated emotionally but Sadly, All-For-One got his hooks in him.
    The suffering Child-Shigaraki went through, the stress, the physical abuse, the confusion, is what hurt so much.
    You're right Abi, it caused that child to lose his mind. That kid was let down on so many levels, his father's abuse and the other adults in his family who, didn't speak out against the father's behavior nor did they come to the aid of the children.

    Nana hid the fact she had any type of family because AFO would use that against her. All Might recently found out so he didn't know.

    • @giantWario
      @giantWario 2 роки тому +1

      The thing is, AFO quite obviously kept tabs on her family all that time, there is no other way he could have rescued Shiggy right after it happened unless he already knew perfectly well where Kotaro lived. It's just really silly to think that a man with the resources he had back then couldn't find her kid in the system if he wanted to. While Nana had a fairly normal reaction since her husband had just been killed, the fact is that she then had no problem bringing another kid (All Might) into this dangerous world of heroes simply because that's what he wanted and Kotaro quite obviously wanted to stay with her.

    i'm not completely sure, but i think the implication is that part at the end is the first time the dad actually hits him after he goes into the office, the other stuff was definitely abuse, but i think that last time where he actually hit him was where the family finally decided to draw the line
