This episode always hits me hard. Recently I’ve been rewatching the first season, and it’s crazy to realize that Class 1-A were the first kids his age who showed Deku true kindness and friendship. Growing up quirkless, bullied by Bakugo, looked down on by his middle school classmates and teacher, even most of the students taking the test to get into UA openly mocked him. But these kids were inspired by how driven and passionate he was, and welcomed him with open arms. To see them come to his aid, whether he wanted it or not, shows that this class is a Family
This was a very emotional episode, seeing a good portion of Deku’s friends give him heartfelt advice and Bakugo’s apology. Was one of the top moments of the series as whole for me. Great character work by a lot of them.
Love, LOVE, LOVE this episode. Let's discuss the parallels. First, we have Iida thinking back to when he thought he absolutely had to face the villain before him to the point of even throwing away his own safety. Izuku is playing right into AFO's hands by tiring himself out but he feels like he can't just sit and rest when Shigaraki always knows where he is. Izuku helped Iida with his problem. Now Iida steps up to help him with his. Next up, the Bakugo rescue that happened. Back then, Shoto made the ice ramp as Iida flew through the sky. Izuku had so many bottled up feelings for Bakugo. So many things he wanted to say to him. But he knew Bakugo would see it as a sign of weakness if he reached out to grab his hand. So he took a step back and allowed Kirishima to do it. Now, Shoto makes another ice ramp and Bakugo is the one who has the bottled up feelings inside him. He has so many things he wants to say. So many things he NEEDS to say. But he puts his feelings aside and lets Iida grab Izuku's hand because he's designed for speed. We see Tenya get to reaffirm that helping a child in need is what he does. Meddling in affairs where people might reject your help is what being a hero is all about. But more importantly, Deku needs to take a bath. Kaminari was right.
All jokes aside, let's talk about Bakugo's speech. These two have such a complex relationship. From childhood best friends to a strained relationship due to Bakugo feeling inferior, to Bakugo and Izuku reluctantly working together, to Bakugo telling Izuku to stay back when he was captured to his meltdown in their second fight to them being proper rivals and Bakugo helping Deku with his quirks and then jumping in the way to save him without thinking like Izuku did for him in the past. They have such a complex relationship filled with a whirlwind of feelings. But Bakugo was willing to be vulnerable not just in front of Deku, but everything in their class. He swallowed his pride and admitted his weakness. He told Deku that it was okay to rest. That it's okay to have shortcomings because they'll have his back. And he ran up to catch Izuku when he fell. Iida caught Izuku, Bakugo made him feel comfortable enough to finally rest on his shoulder, and now the public has to be convinced that he can stay at the school. Deku thinks he's useless if he can't save people. But now it's time to address an important question. Who saves the heroes when they're in trouble?
Side note, I almost forgot the Mineta line. Fun fact, in the manga, people were freaking out because of Mineta saying he fell for Deku. The fandom nearly having a meltdown at bi Mineta was peak chaos.

Fun Fact: When this first aired in Japan, all of Class 1-A was voted MVP for this episode lol
The parallelism:
During Bakugo's rescue in s3, it was Kirishima (Not Deku) who called him out and grabbed Bakugo's hand
While here they used Iida (Not Bakugo) to save Deku as he's more close to him
Bruh, when I tell y’all this episode is impactful, it jus is. Deku’s classmates rescuing him from himself and Bakugo’s development is just so…. 😭💯
*Class 1-A really showed off their teamwork here. Together, they were able to keep up with One for All, and go toe to toe with it. Granted the goal was never really to fight back, just to escape, but still...* *If I’m being honest though, part of me is still kind of scared for 1-A in the long run. Like, yeah, against One for All they put up a great fight, but against All for One, I hope they make it out of this unscathed.*
they were barely able to keep up with a completely exhausted deku who still can't use true 100%, he still uses the other quirks to mimic 100%
@@666FallenShadow Seriously. All they did is prove that what he said is correct. The rest of them CAN'T keep up, and it's not even close. This is just like the uraraka vs bakugo fight at the sports festivals (perhaps the single stupidest thing in the entire series), where the entire fight he pretends like she's some kind of threat only to show us at the end that he could have obliterated her whenever he wanted and that the entire fight was pointless and not even remotely a challenge for him. Deku was right. He's literally better than all of them combined, and they just proved it.

It's very easy to see that, even while injured, had Izuku actually wanted to fight them, it would be a sinch for him to do.
The only reasons this mission they did succeeded was only do to special circumstances.
He was heavily injured, dehydrated, Malnourished, hadn't got any sleep, and didn't want to hurt his friends.
This fight only proves him right. Even with all these special circumstances, Class 1a STILL couldn't keep up. It was merely due to waning strength that they were able to actually stop him, even for just a moment. Not to mention, they already got their asses handed to them by Tenko. What saved them in the end was Izuku constantly getting in Tenko's face and keeping his attention solely on him.
If they can't even keep up with that, than they'll get slaughtered by All For One. Deku has the right idea in trying to keep them away from the fight that will inevitably happen.
He's not wrong in thinking that the battle should stay between AFO and OFA. Especially now that Izuku is the pinnacle of the quirk and its wielders. All their quirks, with all the last users there to provide needed information and experience during crucial moments, with power, speed and a mind greater than that if All Might.
Batman had right ideas.

@@moxxiiscarlett7141Then again all of you guys didn't understand the meaning of this episode. We all know he is the mean character, the most powerful peron on the world. But thats not the point of this episode. The point is that it doesn't matter how powerful you are, you are always gonna lose if you do things alone. Yeah Class 1A wouldn't be ablte to defaeat All for One, but again thats not the point, you can't win a war by yourself.
@@TheDarkOne1920 Not at all? I mean, Deku's shown to be mopping the floor with groups of villains just last episode. The point is he's way past his limit, fighting non-stop for weeks, if not months. Powerful Deku is right here, he would never acknowledge this, only singlemindedly thinking of his original goal. The original plan was clever, sure, but it simply isn't working. He had to have the flexibility to change course to one where he won't get slaughtered by AFO the second they met. If what you take from this is _that_ then I'd like to ask what is it that you're even watching for 6 seasons. There have been several cases where individuals mopped the floor with groups, like, what I said, the previous episode .
Good observation by Samantha. Perhaps breaking the pattern of past One For All users by gaining assistance from others, could be a key factor in beating All For One. Going at it alone might be the thing that did them end. Deku has a chance to cut that tradition off.
Or, you know, maybe what did them in is the fact that Deku is literally the FIRST wielder of One for all to ever have access to all of the quirks at once? Seems like that's a pretty significant difference between the others who tried and him. I feel like that has a lot more to do with things than teamwork does (especially considering Deku literally just proved that even in his weakest state it took the entire class working together to come anywhere close to keeping up.)
Until you start to realize All Might is one of the past wielders of OFA, someone who went at AFO alone and messed him up.
@@urdad2035true but it wasn't enough was it? Here we are all this time later and Japan is in the worst state it's been in years, with AFO still going strong.
Bakugo's character development is so pleasing, up there with Vegeta and Zuko for me even though they were villains at first
This episode was just beautiful. Probably one of my favorite episodes of the series. Literally no one gets through it without tears haha.
This was a very big episode, Lida’s callback to when deku saved him was what got me the most honestly I was such a mess..Then Baku go saying his name and apologizing kept me crying lmao, but it was just so great to have this episode..All of them changed a lot for the best but it’s incredible to see how izuku and bakugou changed since the very first episode you know..
After how many people were hurt during the war, and among the top pro-Heroes at that, it's understandable that Izuku doesn't want to involve his friends in the fights against AfO/Shigaraki.
And with AfO's ability to steal Quirks, he's not even wrong that they might end up as liabilities.
Ofc Izuku needed the emotional support and rest, but I'm worried about the actual fight.
sam is me, i cried from Koda throughout the whole episode. by the time i got to bakugo's apology i was inconsolable 🤣🤣 horikoshi really cooked with this one. i love that all of deku's interactions, ideas, everything all came together for this pivotal moment. and the animation team made sure it paid off in the show. i think it's easily the best episode of the series 💕💕
I've always been super critical about Bakugo. This was the episode that I wanted for so long and it did not disappoint!

Good episode but I laughed that the Invisible Girl had nothing to do as usual. I’m not sure she’s had a single conversation with Deku the entire series or even in the Team-up manga. There are minor characters like Tail-man, Ani-voice, Shoji and then there’s her. I’m starting to think there’s a story reason for this that’s going to be revealed. Anyway, Can’t-Stop-Twinkling should have been able to have his say though; those two bonded over cheese! Yeah, where the heck is Shinzo?

that said, one of the main things I liked about this ep is the return of You Say Run. They literally shelf that soundtrack for important battles and I'm just so glad that even though Deku vs 1A is not really a grand fight, You say run is the best ost for it
Midoriyas fear of his friends and loved ones getting killed or hurt drove him to this point. Seeing how terridied he is for them is just gut wrenching. Also Dankis plea was honestly pretty hard hitting. Even though what he said was initially funny, you could hear the desperation in his voice. Wanting nothing more than to spend time with his friend and bring him back from their own pain and stress
lol funny i think bakugo just squired what deku did when deku saved him from that slime monster in the beginning of the series
You have no idea how happy i am that they didnt make Urarakas love for Deku make her stagnant. She took a little while to realize her feelings, then she decided that her feelings shouldn't get in the way of what they want to achieve, and she proceeded to improve herself. Constantly inspired by Deku and respecting theri drive. UGH! Its so perfect.
Craziest part about this fight is…they’re *lucky* Deku was tired bc he could’ve mopped the floor with all of them.

That's not the point there friends and it's not always about strength even if that is true Deku is tired out and exhausted and almost lost and was taken

Im so excited for the next episode. I remember reading it in the manga before the episode came out and i cried. I had to wait for my eyes to clear up so i could finish reading. I dont remember if the manga or anime did it best. But i just reread it just for the next reaction. Holy crap.... I think Uraraka is my favorite character. thats a first for me since i usually like the main or coolest looking. but damn.

if deku wouldve started fighting them some of his classmates might just literally die
Why is the volume of the episode so low? It's basically muted.
The thing with this episode is, all they did is prove that Deku was right. They could BARELY keep up with a severely exhausted Deku (who is actively taking it easy on them so they won't get hurt) when ALL of them worked together. When Iida caught up to him he wasn't even moving at half his maximum speed and it ripped iida's armor apart. They CAN'T keep up with Deku even going all out all at the same time. If he were actually rested and in good condition He could literally beat them all in a fight at the same time easily. Their point is entirely invalid.
Keep in mind, in order to catch up to someone, you need to go faster than them until you reach them. All the other points are pretty valid, but the teamwork was to surpass Deku, not just match him.

My ass. Deku didn't lift a finger and still folded all of them. Dude could stomp the ground and the shockwave would kill all of them and destroy half of the city.
Shigaraki won't hold back, he isn't Deku. They gonna die.
Let Endeavor handle AFO, he is the only person who realistically can and let Deku handle Shigaraki. Just have Bakugo and Shoto jump and blitz Dabi then move to AFO asap.
