the song is from the perspective of someone why has passed way and speaking to the one who is still living. In the video, the guy is alive and she has passed away, shown symbolically in her never touching the ground.
There's two parts of this song, the verses and buildup and then the coarse. In the video, Amy has her feet and hands bound, and also her feet never touch the ground, and nobody notices her. This is because shes a spirit and cannot interact with the physical would. In the verses you see flashes of Ben Moody, walking the streets alone, this is because shes singing both sides. Its based on the death of Moody's grandfather, so the part, wiped away you tears, chased away all of your fears,... this is what his grandfather did for him likely as a child. The verses are him trying to cope with the loss of someone that was very important to him.

I'm glad you had the lyrics on hand for this. It is a beautiful song and Amy Lee's voice is wonderful. In my opinion, it is a song based around a relationship, but that's just my take on it. "Bring Me To Life" is another of their popular and excellent songs you might like to check out.

Evan-Essence.. they are a rock/hard rock group and Amy Lee is the lead singer... she has one of the best voices ever, when she sang the song “Broken” with the hard rock group “Seether” she melted my heart... this song is about her breakup with Shaun Morgan “Seether lead singer” and how devastated she was
