According to a former member of the band: Well, it's really about a guy and a girl who are best friends and were secretly in love with each other but didn't act on it. One of them suddenly died, and the other was left with this incredible feeling of loneliness and regret because she never told him how much she loved him. Then, she feels that her friend's ghost is haunting her and she wants him to just leave her alone. . .but she doesn;t want to let him go at the same time
Possibly, but, I've read the song is referring to the death of Amy's little sister. They were both quite young when she passed away. I believe quite a few Evanescence songs are in memoriam of her sister.

@@reemelias8414 Yes, this was song was based on a story Ben wrote for his grandfather. "Hello" was written about the death of her little sister.

I've seen former convicts and gritty biker dudes tear up from this song (and the official video.) This was my late girlfriend's favorite song by her favorite band, and was one of the songs she performed for women in shelters and people at soup kitchens. It will always remind me of her, but with a tearful smile not regret. I always take it that it's about a relationship that ended not necessarily a death as that person's memory remains even though they don't, but it works either way. Thank you for giving this a listen. when Amy was 6 her 3 year old sister died, they came and told her at school.. that had to be devastating.. so think about a girl losing her little sister and the bond two sisters have then listen to this song and u understand the lyrics better, that is what this song was for
One of the guys in the band (Ben Moody) lost his grandfather, and his death inspired Moody to write this song. Although it was inspired by that passing, the song is actually about a guy who's girl has died. In the official video, Moody plays the role of the bereaved guy, and Amy Lee (the singer) plays the ghost of the dead girl. She sings what is going on in his head as he struggles to deal with the death of the woman he loved (so, it's the dead girl singing his thoughts...hopefully that makes sense.) The song is called, "My Immortal," because she is forever frozen in his mind the way that she was when she died...she can never age, so she's immortal. Hope that helps.
There is actually a "Strings Version" of this song, with no drums or guitar. It's nice but I much prefer this version because of the energy rollercoaster ride it takes you on.

Actuality it is about her sister who died when she was 3 years old and Amy Lee was 6. She also wrote other songs about her sister...one of which is "Hello".

she was going thru a breakup with Shaun Morgan “the lead singer of the group Seether”.. he had a drug problem and she loved him so much.. she sang several songs about it including the monster hit Seether sang called “Broken” when she sang with them
I love this band and this song. I can relate to this song. I sing it often and have been told i sound alot like amy lee when i sing but noone i mean noone is as good as she is. It is about her taking her own life, that is why there are the bandages on her wrist, she is singing to the love she left behind, she is a ghost so to speak!

We need some more! :) What I find incredible is that this sing, and Bring Me to Life came off their first album, and they were not really ready for the fame and fortune that was suddenly thrust upon them. Although the co-founder Ben Moody left the band shortly thereafter, they still have three more albums since the first, with the last one being 2021. They are really good. Have I ever lied to you before? :)
If I'm not mistaken her sister passed away when she was young. I think this song as well as hello are dedicated to her.
Ben Moody actually wrote the lyrics and aren't about anyone in particular.
Both Amy and Ben wrote it and Ben drew inspiration from his grandfather passing if I can recall
@@rx7dude2006 I remember an interview with Ben and Amy saying Ben wrote the song about Amy. Apparently he was in love with her. And he left the group because he saw it was really becoming Amy's band. He wanted to take the band into a different direction but he loved her. So he let her live her dream.

They reworked the story and turned into the song it is today.
There are 2 versions of the song "Bliss" Version from the CD Fallen and the "Band" version which they released as a free download later.
This is one of Amy's least liked songs and rarely plays it live anymore although in recent interviews she says she has come to like the song a little more now.
@@Sam-xr8ne All wrong. Ben wrote this about a grand parent, yes Ben and Amy "briefly" dated it was short lived. Ben was bipolar and a heavy drinker. While on tour for the Fallen Cd Seether was the back up band and Amy started taking a liking to Sean Morgan, Seether's lead singer. Ben Moody said to hell with this quit the band and went back home the next day.
I believe this song was written after Amy Lee (Lead Singer) lost her sister.
