Back in the day, creep really meant a weirdo, someone who didn’t fit in, but it wasn’t so nefarious or scary like it is now. Great reaction. My kids were huge into Radiohead so that’s how I found out about them. Karma Police and Fake Plastic Trees are great songs, and my daughter would tell you Paranoid Android is one of the greatest songs ever.
you nailed it it with the analysis. it's about social anxiety and not feeling good enough but you have to understand the context of the time. in the 90s social anxiety wasn't a term. i was a teenager in the 90s and this really resonated with me because if you dont feel like the top dude you feel like a creep or weirdo or someone who just doesn't belong. Love this song, awesome react
When I hear the word "creep", the first word that comes to mind is radiohead. Lol. This song got banned in the UK because it was deemed too depressing... apparently.
This is the song of my people lol an anthem of my generation. You could say we were kinda quirky back then, and a lot of us felt like creeps. Today, "creep" = stalker but back then "creep" = loser. Weirdo. Outcast. Awkward. We've held that song close to our hearts for the rest of our lives. It wasn't just a song to us creeps. You really should do the live version. He wouldn't even have to sing, the audience would've done it for him. But my lord, I'm glad he did.
Hello out there, to all my fellow CREEPS & WEIRDOS, we make the world a more interesting place to live!!! Bands like Radiohead, take you on an emotional journey, so you feel the music, & that's what makes them exceptional, & seriously successful! 😎 Great reaction 😎
I have social anxiety disorder. I so identified with this song back then until I was finally diagnosed in my early 30's, and to this day. They rock and they touched me. Love your reactions ❤.
This song has been played in so many movies and has been covered by everyone and their mother's uncle! A lot of great covers, but nothing compares the to this - the original!
Some other songs to check out by them: High & Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Just, Iron Lung (all are from their album The Bends). Radiohead is difficult to put in a categorical box because they evolve with each album. Enjoy your journey.
This song makes me very sad. To me, it's the voice of the " bullied" kids. Those screams, " the release of emotion." To this day, bullying continues, and all it requires is for parents to raise nice kids.
Love the reaction! Radiohead's Creep is just about feeling you are not worthy to be around someone you are attracted to/ love! The fact that you went from being wary to being all in is how almost all of us were at one time with them! They are not everyone's cup of tea but you can find a few songs that will always stay with you!
Thom Yorke has one of the most beautiful voices in alternative rock. Listen to Radiohead's other music and you'll see. Fake Plastic Trees is softer and shows the beauty of his voice even more.
Social anxiety is a good way to put it. Very common when it comes to trying to approach a beautiful girl. But back then, social anxiety wasn't really a thing people recognized. It was more "man up and go talk to her". Btw- enjoy your reactions very much. If you do Nine Inch Nails again, I'd like to hear you analyze Terrible Lie.
He is describing how he see/feels about himself. English people are very reserved and "stiff upper lip" emotions are reserved for footie (soccer). Every Radiohead album brings different sounds. The thing I always found interesting about this song was that it had almost universal appeal. As a former "outcast" I had no question about how/why I related so much to this song, but I was shocked as hell when I saw jocks and princesses and other "top tier" "special" people belting out this same song as if they got it on a personal level. Weird. I think it just hits most people on a deep level, which is amazing. "I want you to notice...when I'm not around..." I think everyone understands this, even allegedly "special" people. Damn, who is cutting onions?!
I think Thom Yorke of Radiohead wrote 'Creep' about himself being infatuated w/ a girl he admired from afar but couldn't approach due to his awkwardness (he felt like she thought he was a 'creep')... It became a huge single in 1993 from the debut album 'Pablo honey'... (Ironically, Stone Temple Pilots also released a single 'Creep' from their 1992 debut album 'Core') Radiohead became like the British version of Nirvana - 90's grunge rock... but that wasn't what they wanted. Other singles - 'Stop whispering'... 'Anyone can play guitar' ... did not do as well. Radiohead released their 2nd album 'The Bends' in 1995, but it sold less because fans expected 'Creep part 2'... and it didn't have a song like that. Singles were - 'High and dry'... 'Fake plastic trees'... In 1997, Radiohead opted to reinvent their sound w/ beats and electronics... That resulted in their 3rd album 'OK Computer'... and it was a surreal record w/ very odd tracks... but by 1998, fans bought the record as it outsold 'Pablo honey'... and the single 'Karma police' was a huge hit... along w/ the singles - 'Paranoid android'... 'No surprises'... Their 2000 album 'Kid A' went to #1 on the US charts as Radiohead ventured into full-on surreal electronic music.

when I think of what a 'creep' is I think of a person that is socially awkward and inappropriate. When I was younger these 'creeps' would make unwarranted sexual advances. THAT IS NOT how I feel about this song. The song feels more like a person that's insecure and nervous about approaching someone they find fascinating believing perhaps they arent worthy.
Sometimes you feel like a creep when the other person is so beautiful. You feel like you don't measure up.
I've never met anyone that beautiful on this earth. Never.

He's in love with with a women but feels he isn't enough for her
when I think of what a 'creep' is I think of a person that is socially awkward and inappropriate. When I was younger these 'creeps' would make unwarranted sexual advances. THAT IS NOT how I feel about this song. The song feels more like a person that's insecure and nervous about approaching someone they find fascinating believing perhaps they arent worthy.
He's saying that his lyrics (lyracist) arent arrogant, but hexwas trying to be heartfelt without sounding like a girl (effeminate).

Have you considered the English make use creep differently to an American?
