- Green Algae in saltwater tank - How to remove green algae in the aquarium. Green Algae in saltwater tank - What I'm doing to remove green algae in my saltwater aquarium. I usually do a 10 gallon water change on the 125 gallon saltwater aquarium each weekend but with the higher nitrates I will be doing 20% weekly, totally 20 gallons for the water change, each weekend for the next month or more. I may stick with the 20 gallons each week moving forward for water changes. saltwater aquarium care and maintenance videos by rotter tube reef.

Thanks for sharing even the negative side of things, shows honesty in my book. I've seen your tank on here in the past so I know you can turn it around 👌
I've moved several times. Completely drained and refilled. No problems ever. Large tanks also.
Keep the tank covered in complete darkness 10 days adding hydrogen peroxide 12%.take out the rocks and bath 🚿 them in peroxide.this is what I do when green algae began to show up and works..I got an external squimmer bubble QQ3 that absorb all the green algae.only thing I have to do is clean the skimmer everyday, clean the glass and manually keep removing the sand.hope it helps😊
Emptying the tank won’t affect the seal, it’s designed to flex some for being full and even hold up during ongoing earthquakes
I would only get scared if the four corners aren’t touching something
I used to have that problem. My tank are 4 years old. I guess the problem solver is after i used microbacter7 and put uv in the sump.
Bang pakai domin8 power bang.. po4 dengan no3 sy sampai zero sebab dosing domin8 lebih dari sukatan.. sekarang ni tengah nk combat cyanobacteria pulak ni.. memang plan nk install uv dekat sump..oke ke pakai uv ? Hair algae berkurang tak ? Cyano hilang tak ?
Perhaps you can set up a refugium. Everything you put in stays in and the phosphates build up unless you do water changes or other methods. Cut your lights for a few days. Put in some phosban or phosguard. If you move your tank, I never heard of the issue you mentioned, perhaps if it had a chance to dry out. But you could just move everything quickly and keep it in cycle. Good luck 👍🏼
Hey there! Always loved your tank and it’s my guess that you are getting too much light from the window which is causing your algae. I think adding bacteria and more clean up crew will help with your biodiversity. Also in my humble opinion I remember back in the day you put quite a bit of copper in your tank. That stuff stays in your tank and you won’t be able to keep your corals alive or happy for long. Anyway, just my thoughts on the current state of your tank. I’m pulling for you now get to work
I did have a bunch of corals after that copper and they thrived really crazy. I sold them all. Shouldn't have but I did. Then, about 2 years later, I got corals again. I think it's a combo of the lighting, and algae and I found an aphasia outbreak as well.
Maybe some saltwater plants in the tank could help cut back on some of the weekly maintenance. Emptying the tank should not impact the seals. Good luck.
I don't feel your pain anymore. Went glass bottom about the same time you did before you went to a deep sand bed and zero problems.
That's great!
Maybe add sand sifting goby they really work the sand and you wont need to syphon it.
Used to have one. Love those guys.
I was going to try saltwater with my Fx6, not sure if I’m going to do it now.
Why not? My tank is much cleaner and easier and more fun to maintain with my FX6's. No more sump means no more splashing and salt creep in the stand.
@@ROTTERtube do you run bio media in one and filter’s in the other?
@@itszach6808 I don't run any bio media at all in the canisters. I only use the canisters to capture waste via all the foam. My live rock and sand has the bio in it.
@@ROTTERtube ok, what else do you run in the canister? Carbon or anything else?
Tank is crashing. . Where is skimmer?
he thought he didnt need it and switched to 2 canisters but failed to realize that without it he needs to do more maintenance but hes not. shyte happens
You don't need a sump and there is less maintenance now. This has nothing to do with the canister filters. I neglected my tank long before the canisters.
it's not crashing. green algae. too many nitrates. sump and skimmer is gone. got tired of the salt creep everywhere under the tank.
