Nobody was in a hurry for this game to come out, so why did the developers rush it? They could’ve taken another year or two and made it much longer and complete.
@Tamer Ciftci yeah but the thing is as much as I like Re2 remake It's not perfect No marshaling yard No furnace But overall still a solid Addition to RE series What happened with Re3 remake 😣😣😱😱😱
There still is love behind the making of this entry, however it is evident there is not as much love as there was for RE 2 Remake. Which is really unfortunate considering these games are mainly for the fans, and people who played the originals and or the franchise for a long time. Make a good game and bring back the fear the players all experienced once before. That is what this game didn’t bring forth a strong as RE 2 remake did.
Don't buy it don't rent Simple answer Trust me It's so painful it's not even funny even tho they are some hilarious scenes Like nemisis doesn't mind being engolfed in flames But in a later scene he's desperatly trying to stop drop and roll 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rushed? Re2 remake began development in 2015 and re3 remake began in 2016. 3 to 4 years of development, to me, isn't rushed. Unless the same team was working on both, then yea ok.
I’m pretty sure they knew the game wasn’t long enough to justify charging 60$ for it. That’s why they added resistance. But I’d rather have a full length game without resistance 😐 oh well
100% Capcom's budget for RE2 was used for campaign and DLC Hunk. but then , 60% Capcom budget used on RE3 campaign and 40% for RESISTANCE. MULTIPLAYER IS CANCER OF THIS INDUSTRY NOT EVERY FUCKING GAME NEEDS FORCED MP DEATHMATCH.
i hope we get a DLC of extra stories that can kind of make it feel like a whole game.. Give us like 2-3 DLC with an extra 2-3hr content and ill be happy.. Resistance is whatever i don't even touch that.
Wasn’t this made by a sub-team? What do you think the main team was working on. They realize that they REALLY don’t want to fuck up RE4 remake because people love it so much, so they diverted their attention to that.
"Resident Evil games are shorter than people think." Me playing RE4: "When will it end!?!?!" Edit: obligatory, "I ran through it in 4 hours with the typewriter!" Talking about first runs here people. The damn cutscenes alone take nearly an hour and a half.
The missing clocktower level or bypassing the zoo bit really annoyed me...not sure why they cut it out, could have added it and we would have happily waited
@@greengrasssnake4779 That's about the same for me. Is £39.00 for 6 hours of gameplay worth it? I wouldn't say so. I'm quite upset I wasted the money considering I got a lot more enjoyment out of Resident Evil 2 remake.
I beat it twice in one day,Took about 4 hours in clear time,6 hours total game time 2nd run was like 3 hours and 4 hours total of game time,Not a bad game,Just feels rushed
@@chloeprice5916 is say Re2 was shorter, more explanation but shorter story. Anyway I love both games, I payed full price and I've more way more then what I paid for with both games
Haha I hope you're being sarcastic, what's happening in RE and this farce of a "pandemic" happening in real life are about as different as a mound of dirt and mount Fuji.
I was pissed they didn't even attempt to add in the clocktower. That was one of the best sections of RE3. If they added like half an hour more of gameplay using the clocktower, the game probabaly wouldn't be called short by reviewers and players. Capcom sure dropped the ball on this remake.
@@DaddyVonDoom by switching things up you mean remove? A remake is supposed to add on to and make the game better and more refined, stop trying to defend it
@@milboxr9772 yeah I recently played through Nemesis on PS1 and while the Clock tower wasn't elaborate by any means, it definitely was something that I remembered was coming up in a game I haven't played in 20 years. Seems odd to omit it.
I had more "shit, really?" moments when I heard the footsteps of Mr. X in Resident Evil 2 than Nemesis lol. Resident Evil 3 Remake was good, I enjoyed it, but Resident Evil 2 takes the win for me.
Nier Automata most Nemesis encounters we’re scripted to give the effect that’s he was always one step ahead of you while MR X was went for the more stalker within gameplay having some scripted cutscenes and one scene the player could completely miss where he walks through the wall in the police station. Both work very differently but I myself love the MR X form of always being in your area while Nemesis just you knew he was coming for you
Isn't it kinda crappy to charge $60 for a 5 hours "side project", I agree it feels like they didn't put in anywhere as much time as RE2 remake, but the price tag was still the same =/
VoiceOvaGuy Yeah, it sucks that it’s so short and also so expensive. However, with the fact that this game was outsourced to a B team, I still have faith in Capcom. It’s just one game after all. I’m sure they’ll do better next time.
@@VoiceOvaGuy CAPCOM is a huge game company. Economically, they can't charge their titles too little compared to their competitors. Charging too little for a triple AAA Is like making yourself inferior to other companies. Maybe they can drop the price a little sooner than other game. But they HAVE to charge it that way.
People are being too kind about this game. It's TOO SHORT and I'm sorry, but that's just not acceptable for a £50 game in this day and age. Consider the amount of playtime you'll get from this compared to something like Mount & Blade, or Minecraft, or Civilization, or pretty much ANY game, and most of those you can buy for less than a 5th of the price.
This had the potential to be better than the RE2 remake and they blew it. There's some great stuff in this game which they nailed. The characterisation of Jill is amazing. I wasn't expecting them to completely change her character and turn her into Ripley. She's a badass. They also did a great job with Carlos, to such a point that I'd like to see him return in another RE game. Nemesis looks awesome. The game starts off really strong, but then it starts to unravel and the cracks start showing, and it's more apparent if you've played the original. And why Capcom poured resource into that REsistance trash instead of this or a Mercenaries mode is wild to me.
Agreed, I really don't like the fact that they cut the clocktower out or when Nemesis could dodge your grenades making you feel a bit more exasperated. There was INFINITE potential to make this game 10/10. I'm not saying that the game is bad, but it could've been a richer and better experience.
@@theshermantanker7043 Wonder why they couldn't have added all the content they cut back in instead of an (imo) crappy multiplayer that nobody is going to play for long, if at all.
I just wish they took their time with this one, it’s a good game but it feels rushed in some areas. It’s an undeniably good experience it just doesn’t stack up, content wise, to the RE2r.
The scenerios really help with 2 though. I think the goofy lay out of the city should have been kept. Who cares if it doesn't make sense that a city wouldn't be designed as a maze. STARS is already a farfetched concept. So are zombies and bioengineered monsters terrorizing you. Even RE7. The most RECENT CANON game in the series gave you a puzzle house. If they did this and placed key items around that would have increased the time. Also it would allow Nemesis encounters to be more dynamic. Maybe instead of him pursuing you there is a random encounter sequence that will go off where you CAN lose him or beat him like you did in the old game. He won't be down for like 30 seconds but you simply prolong the next unscripted sequence. That and improving the choice dynamics. With it being current year they could have really pushed this as it was already a highlight of the vanilla game. That and keeping the clock tower, city hall, and park sections could have pushed this game by at least another hour or so and not just for the sake of padding and nostalgia but it could have just been meaty enough to put it on par with 2RE. And RE3 was apparently made along side of 2RE. There is no excuse for why this game is lackluster in terms of content.
Monty2289 I totally agree with you. The puzzle solving doesn’t have to be like it is in the mansion or pd. It can be more of a developed puzzle with getting the subway back online, not just a few flips of a switch. There could have been plenty of puzzles once in the nest. It is an umbrella lair after all. But as for the city, I prefer it being kept more realistic in the sense that it is a fully functional city
To be fair the puzzles in REMAKE 2 arent very hard either with often pretty obvious solutions that dont require a guide to get past, so i kind of expected as much from R3make, although i was kind hoping for puzzles that were atleast semi randomized so its not the exact same solution every single time. Two things that kinda piss me off is jill never even visits the rpd and instead carlos does, and no alternate costumes beyond her stars outfit from the original REmake, unless you count the classic outfit currently only available as a preorder bonus, like where is my regina costume? Also carlos's classic costume literally just changes his hair style. hardcore mode is a joke, enemies just take a couple more rounds to put down and you find less items, unlike REmake 2 where hardcore requires ink ribbons to save, autosave is disabled, every hit puts u on danger status unless under the effects of a R+B herb, and one zombie could easily eat all of your ammo to the face(even magnum rounds) and still keep getting up hence you had to pick and chose which enemies to spend resources on and which to avoid. Also for some reason it seems they removed the use of grenades and knives to get out of grabs (which was a feature in both of the previous remake s) and replaced it with the dodge, which i like, i just dont get why we cant have both. Overall remake 2 felt far more faithful to the original than this one, which is a shame since i waited years to experience the game with modern graphics (since i didnt get to see my friend play the original as a kid) guess i was right in being more excited for a dino crisis remake (too bad that was canned).
I already finished it. I enjoyed it, but it is not worth $60. I feel like especially since Resistance and RE3 are already different clients, each one should be $30 each, then $50 for a bundle if you want both.
Rafael Ortiz RE2 absolutely was imo. You had a second reason to play through the campaign that actually added gameplay elements and had new story beats, as well as 4th Survivor. This was all before they added Ghost Survivors shortly after launch for free. This time around they’re hoping a multiplayer mode a lot of people just aren’t interested in will offset all this and still justify a $60 price point. I don’t think it was a very good call.
Well....I took me 10 hours of play time to complete on hardcore mode. Certainly shorter than RE2, but I liked it a lot. The sections with Carlos were really well done and it was cool to see how this game ties in to RE2
If they treat every remake as this one and cut even more stuff out of it, they should not bother anymore. I know they'll remake Resident Evil 4 down the line, and that is the longest Resident Evil game and they'll probably reduce it to 7 hours and not include Separate Ways, Assignment Ada and Mercenaries or some shit. They rushed Resident Evil 3 obviously, but the thing is nobody expected it to release a year after 2 Remake came out. They didn't need to do that and that's what got us here. Capcom is making great moves as of late, but it is still evident that they can still very well mess this all up. They cannot keep this up and release these games half assed and on a yearly thing like COD. It's not about that.
@@KudoYoung I still think they'll do it, unless they are saving it as a safety incase Resident Evil 8 or possibly a Code: Veronica remake fails after a lukewarm Resident Evil 3. RE4 could be the safety net as it is the most crtitically acclaimed and iirc, the best selling in the series across all platforms. I don't think having the original in multiple platforms will be a factor, though I can understand how I could be wrong on this one. But tbh, I think they'd be foolish if they don't remake Resident Evil 4. I still think Leon is still the poster boy of Resident Evil and anytime he is a lead in any of the games, the games perform well. I can still remember how everyone cheered when they saw Leon in the RE2 trailer in E3 2018. To not continue Leon's rebooted story from RE2 to RE4, which in my opinion is the best game in the series as well as Leon's best outing, would be a travesty. But a bigger failure would be them rushing 4 and half-assing it the same way they did RE3 Remake. Edit: Code: Veronica remake
@@theatlastech8792 Yep. It's been rumored a lot and it would make sense to be remaked because of Claire's major involvement in the title and that it is also beloved by RE fanatics unlike the Revelations games.
The thing about it they were developing both games at the same time. The teams noticed what they were doing with 2 and decided to amp it up with 3. But you're right, they could've taken some time to polish 3
Me: *watches Before You Buy* Also Me: *finishes the game before Before You Buy released* I agree, the game is much shorter than RE2, but I really enjoyed this game from start to finish
yeah me too. It was a great game. Glad I didn't listen to those overreacting negative reviewers. I know there are some locations cut, I was pretty disappointed too but constantly bashing the game and finding the fault in the game when there isn't any is just stupid. Gameranx review was great, praising the game where it's needed and criticizing it as well.
@@arsalansyed123 Agreed. There were some cut features and locations, sure, but the overall game itself was simply fantastic. I want to immediately play it again now 😂
@generic generic Re3 is around the same playtime of the original. Mind you all these games were upon release were all relatively short. But I do agree charging full price was a bad move
I just got the game today and that sucks to hear it's short ☹️ well we can always put the game on hardest difficulty I'm sure that will make the game a little longer.
Personally, I was disappointed. RE3 is my favorite out of the series and it was for the puzzles and Nemesis popping up out of nowhere. The remake was great in terms of the graphics but nemesis could have been more of a hunter rather than being scripted. Shit in RE2 I stood in the safe room listening to the footsteps from tyrant cause I was scared af.
@@crazysmokin That boy used to fly after after you even while was running away, three doors later 😭. Only thing I can give this nemesis is that he enters a safe room
The game is short like everyone says, they should’ve just made it a dlc side story for 2 remake & called it RE nemesis without the 3. Story wise it’s not the sequel to re2 anyway.
Tilting Head detergent I’m aware of that. I said to remove the number because narratively it’s not a sequel to 2, it’s a spin off side story. Removing the 3 implies that as dlc. But to each his own.
That's true for the first half of RE3 but after Jill awakes from being cured of the infection, i.e the latter half of RE3 takes place after the events of RE2. Yes I am aware that Code Veronica was originally meant to be the 3rd RE but changes were made for contract reasons but as such chronologically, RE3 ends after RE2.
RagingUtai re3 has only been out for a few days so given time a speed run might be faster. Also I don’t consider speed runs for how long a game is, I consider average play throughs where you take your time.
Everyone is blaming Capcom for rushing and releasing a short game but I’m putting part of the blame on the “fans” RE2 came out and everyone started demanding RE3 instantly. Capcom decide to do the multiplayer game then the fans start moaning yet again they want RE3 instead. Capcom releases a trailer for the RE3 you was all whinging for and people start complaining that Nemesis doesn’t look right. RE3 gets released a year after RE2 and everyone is complaining again so who’s to say that the original plan was not to release RE resistance then work on RE3 afterwards but because people started bitching so much that they felt pressured to cave in and release RE3 now.
So you blame people who buy this game for 60$? I don't even know why you trying so hard to defend Capcom. No one asking for RE Resistance by the way. RE Resistance It's a good game but it's not an excuse to cut a lot of content from RE3 Remake and replace it with RE Resistance.
DOOM GUY Like I said before, I’m placing partial blame on the hypocritical community who get mad at companies who dare to do something different that “no one asks for” then slams them for not giving into their demands. Then when they do give in to demands they get slammed again. I get it, the main game is short and not what people wanted. It needed fleshing out more but Capcom must have decided the only way for the multiplayer game to sell would be to package it with RE3 (and put it out sooner to avoid financial loss) because the majority of people attacked them for daring to do something different first and honestly, I don’t see what the fuss is about it’s 2 games for $60. COD release annual crap with a short campaign and multiplayer and the animals lap that up for $60 plus the season pass on top of that and Capcom have kind of done the same here.
@@Equalenemy crazy how sub 8 reviews are considered bad. There are no bad reviews for this, just opinions that revolve around comparing it to nostalgia
@@DV-ou1yu nah man I've seen plenty of negative reviews about the parts being cut, the ragdoll effect missing, the scripted Nemesis moments, the length of the game etc.

@@RevelationOne I learned my lesson after getting burned by Mass Effect 3, that is to never preorder game no matter the hype. that thinking has served me well.
As a veteran player who fell in love with RE3 in 1999 and still has a PS1 disc of it on his shelf - I was disapointed that not every single tiny piece of detail made it over to the remake, but I also really enjoyed getting to run around in a Racoon City brought to life in this amazing game engine. Not perfect but definitely good.
It's a buy for me. Short games aren't always a bad thing. The original wasn't long either and it's hard to pour hundreds of hours in a game since there are so many of them. I love resident evil and grew up on the originals. I'm excited to play it.
I'm excited too. I still prefer re2 remake, for the same reason I love re7. It's the feeling of being in the same Big place, a house, a Mansion, or RPD for that matter and getting familier with it. I just like that stuff. I still love the re3 remake though. It's different. Is it worth $60? Ehh that's arguable, bht definitely a solid entry
Yeah... but this is really short. Like way shorter than 2. I already beat it.... it’s pretty awesome! But it’s def super linear compared to the other one. Still fun though. But I wish I waited for it to be on sale. Feels more like dlc than an actual sequel. Like that stand alone dlc for uncharted 4.
This game just needs 1 solid DLC for the STORY mode to add another hour and have that area needs to have Nemesis roam to complete the feel of the game.
I love the series and played the first when it came out, I can forgive a lot, but this is more of a dlc than a full priced game. It’s a wait for a sale for me. Plus resistance is nothing for me since I don’t play online at all!
I recommend 100 percenting the checklist. Seemed like a chore at first... 56 hours and 16 playthroughs later and It's now my favorite resident evil ever. Previous were 2 and 4
First time ever playing a Resident Evil game, didn't realize it was this different from the 1999 version. That being said... 10 out of 10 pooped my pants
I played the originals (well... my dad did... I just watched) when i was a young kid ;p It's really cool to see what they've done with these titles. Very impressive, especially how they preserve and even darkened the atmosphere.
Dcutty 541 Not really. Depends where you buy it. For pc just buy it on instant gaming. It is already 44€ there. 35 in 1-2 weeks like doom eternal. Other websites also have it on sale for around 45€
@@jayo8484 it's not going to drop in a couple of weeks. For the people who played it. Most liked it. It has minor issues and the campaign being short is a little bit of disappointing, unless you play it on a very hard difficulty than it decent-sized with challenge. Can be up to 8 to 9 hours. Most people complaining haven't even played the game 😂
A remake RE: Outbreak, if given proper time, would be phenomenal. So I agree with you and am happy to see someone else have those feelings for Outbreak. I can only hope if and when they do decide to that it isn't as scripted with it's enemies appearing. Because running from the zombie elephant in the zoo similar to Mr. X in remake RE: 2 would be nice/terrifying.
“Looks like Keanu Reeves from Speed.” That’s exactly who this version of Carlos looks like! I’ve been trying to figure out who he looks like, and there is some resemblance there.
Well this makes my situation with Carlos weirder because he has my first name, my hairstyle and my hair color. The only differences are that I’m not a jacked mercenary, I have more of a tan, and he isn’t socially awkward. His personality is almost like mine too. It’s a little weird but cool at the same time.
Thomas Mattiello I bought it right away, and don’t have any regrets spending $60, it’s my favorite game of this year so far with Doom Eternal being a close second favorite.
Nemesis was extremely disappointing in this remake you see him more in scripted events than actually exploring the streets . He’s supposed to be like Mr X but he goes more cowabunga on your ass with guns and can sprint which he does but idk I honestly had more of a hard time with Mr X than nemesis. Not to mention he goes down with one grenade and the game is extremely generous with ammunition even on hard difficulty.
That's because RE2R Mr X was 100% a better Nemesis than RE3R Nemesis. One of the things that made RE3O stand out in comparison to RE2O was the fear Nemesis could be around ANY corner, and the adrenaline rush you'd get from unexpected encounters. For the vast majority of RE2R, he's just a recurring, mostly scripted, mini-boss. Between this and all the cut content, they really did my girl Jill wrong with this offering.
This was so disappointing! They took out all the elements that made nemesis actually scary. I hated the scripted parts where you just run through an obvious path, so boring.
Alright, your point is valid, but you have to see it from the programmer side of it. Nemesis is suppose to be much stronger, and faster than mister x. Giving him free roam mechanics would make the game impossible, and make people complain about this game even more. Overall he isn't ruined, he isn't perfect, but he is definitely still terrifying, well that is in my opinion
What I love about RE2 is that, albeit fairly short, you can still manage to squeeze 4 (slightly) different playthrough out of it. And in a way its 4 scenarios of about 5 hours each are far more entertaining than a single game of +30 hours. I am Not sure RE3 holds the same bang for the buck though.
2 full separate Jill and Carlos campaigns even if it’s replaying a lot of similar moments, just like RE2 with Leon and Claire would take this game from like a 7/10 to a 9/10 imo
“Well under 5 hours long”. Most people have nothing but time, and to drop $60 on a game you can beat in one sitting is absolutely insane. If there’s a sale on this one, I will consider it for sure. I just can’t justify a game that’s $10+ an hour, and left out a lot of iconic moments. No one was in a hurry for this anyway, can’t believe they didn’t take more time.
Eze SMH to you not seeming to grasp they literally developed a game that can be beaten under 5 hours. Unless you play games in 15 minute increments to really drag this one out, I’m surprised you’re supporting that either way lol.
@Eze as I said, everyone with his own money does what he wants. I personally (I repeat: personally) would not spend $ 60 on this game because 5-6-7 or 8 hours is not worth it for me! however I do not think that those who buy it are stupid, indeed! i paid $ 20 for re2 and i still think i made the deal of life!
@Eze I understand perfectly. Furthermore, I would add that even if the story only lasted 2 hours, it would still be worth much more than the single player of all the call of duty put together. quality always wins over quantity, however I always say to be careful with this sacred law, because producers like Capcom could sometimes take it as an excuse. certainly good work bring both quantity and quality, as it seems to be FF7. however RE3 is a remake so based on the original it couldn't really be done in a different and longer way. personally I wouldn't spend $ 60 now and expect a price drop but I certainly wouldn't mind playing with it if i had it!
It takes about 60 rounds to take out 1 Hunter and this section of the game throws around 6 or 7 at you. It is a struggle if you are not careful with it.
The "assault rifle" is extremely underpowered. Somehow the pistol does more damage. I get it, it's a automatic but then give me less ammo with more damage. It's a okay amount of ammo. A little much but that section has many threats to deal with, so it's fair to an extent.
Only time I ran out of ammo was when I was playing as Carlos in the mass invasion, on my 1st playthough, other than that, I had enough ammo to never need the dodge ability aside from some boss fights.
i finished re 3 nd unlocked everything in the shop except the rifle and decided to play re2 (but re2 doesn't have the dodge mechanic so I'm not sure if im going to enjoy it or not)
I read somewhere that this started development at around the same time as RE2 Remake and was outsourced. It does look amazing but the lack of mercs mode, key cut content, over-simplified puzzles and low replayability really puts me off buying. I was a huge fan of RE1 and 2 and absolutely love RE2 remake. Capcom nailed those games. Will be interesting to see what game they revive next. I'll wait for a sale. Great video BTW. :)
It's also worth mentioning that this is an action game, not a horror game. Few jumpscares here and there, but the pacing, lighting, and ambience make 99% of the game not scary :/
I'm with you on the RE2 remake. It's fantastic, and got waaay more content than this does. Don't get me wrong RE3 remake is a lot of fun while it lasts, it's pretty much the same game as the RE2 but just tilted towards a fast paced shooting and combat dynamic. Not every game is a slam dunk. It's funny because the original RE3 was turned around in the same kinda time frame and it turned out to be a classic in the long run.
Not likely to happen. With how linear they've made the game, remaking old locations and adding them in as well as implementing scenarios to facilitate choices would be extremely difficult. They're better off making an entirely new game.
The only thing I can see being added back in is the park. With the park leading to the bridge towards the clock tower. And the objective is to find keys at the park to unlock the gate at the bridge. Placing it after the subway was destroyed and Jill getting back up to surface. If they're willing to scrap it. They could also add back the clock tower. Remove nemesis flopping about like a drunk idiot while on fire and tripping into the river. Rework the bridge so it doesn't have obstacles and holes and crap. Rework the front of the clock tower so it looks like a UBCS built refugee camp/triage with some UBCS and civilian zombies in it instead of a boss arena for nemesis. With the clock tower front door being locked and having to find the key in said camp/triage. Then make the inside portion similar to the original. But instead of ringing the bell to signal for help, there is a note at the door saying that the UBCS have set up a radio at the top. Power is out inside, so dark environment, which means scares. Add realistic and believable puzzles like rerouting the rint amount of power left available by switching out circuit wirings and tuning to the correct frequency without overloading the whole circuit. Once that is done. A chopper hears you and plans to land. Nemesis, in its Bloodborne beast form, takes the chopper out by throwing debris at it. The chopper goes out of control wrecking the camp/triage conveniently creating a clear area for a boss fight.
It's super fun but short. I was able to beat it in a day and a half. Things I love: Jill Carlos Nemesis The police station nod Storyline Things I hate: Quick time The bobbleheads not showing up even when you look at a guide. How short the game is. One-shot deaths. Being unable to go back to certain areas.
She's basically Ripley in this, which I'm not mad at. And given how they set her up from the start, it wasn't completely ridiculous. Nowhere near as ridiculous as Chris Redfield punching a boulder in a voclano.
No open world, no amazing music, no spiders and no worm, no park, no cemetery and no clock tower, no choices, only one ending, no random item and enemy placement...
Triple-D26 way shorter I beat it in 5:30hr first run on standard I think re2 was like 6:30 and it had 2 campaigns if your a re fiend like me you’ll love it no matter what I must admit I am bias
This game was my introduction to resident evil and to be honest, I LOVED it, shooting is so fun and replaying to complete more records doesn't feel boring at all. Forst playthrough lasted me foe 10 hours and just started my fourth one, I wanna complete all challenges🤗
Same here, I grew up with Resident evil and learned to play it through watching my dad. Loved all the old ones, especially nemesis and code veronica x. Looking forward to that remake.!
@@Bloodysabbathmusic its dumb it's not here at launch, I knew they were gonna take liberties with the campaign and shake things up a bit but I thought it would otherwise follow the road map of re2remake which had everything the original had like 4th survivor but updated to be modernized.
SPOILER WARNING!! I’ve literally just completed RE3 and I honestly must say I am a little disappointed in the outcome of this game. The original RE3 back in 1999 used to give me so many nightmares when I was a child so I was well on the hype train last year when I found out about the remake. Sadly it hasn’t delivered as I was expecting so much more. In my opinion, the strongest point in the game is the beginning when you have to avoid bumping into nemesis in the city (same part as the demo). After this sequence the game starts to fall flat. There’s no more being on edge trying to avoid nemesis as the next sequences are more story driven then open world gameplay. Also not a fan of the nemesis animal like design as it reminds me too much of RE2s William Birken which kinda steals nemesis identity. Also the snake in the original or the graveyard sequence wasn’t in the game which I was bummed about. Other than that tho the game was enjoyable and I’ll definitely grind it some more to try and get all the trophies etc but yeah unfortunately I am slightly disappointed by the way the games ended out 😑 still glad it was remade in the first place tho
Exotic Beatz I think that nemesis at the beginning of the game was scary as he gave off similar vibes to what mr X did in RE2 as a persistent threat the the player but version 2 nemesis wasn’t even scary at all to be fair 😑 he only ever turned up in boss battles
@@hulkules187 That ruined it? That was about 3 seconds of cut scene 😂 It's not like this game is a RE6 style disaster guys. That game had plenty of campaign but it was a total mess.
@J0MBi so u didn’t think that was the most idiotic explanation how Marvin got bit. Which there is no history at all in the franchise that the zombies can talk. Plus wouldn’t he warn Leon “careful I heard them talk” or something. Plus there are numerous things taken out puzzles, areas, items, bosses but just adding that “sorry” really broke the lore. It’s not terrible game but its inferior to the original.
The biggest disappointment for me was Jill saying her famous ending line “you want stars...I’ll give you stars” within the first hour of play. It was a good game but for me it was unbelievably buggy if you stand at the top of the stairs looking at the donut shop and shoot the zombies from a distance you can really see the frame drop and the graphical instability. I am playing on the ps4 and upon searching for anyone else experiencing this it seems that it is even worse on pc at least According to a reddit thread...It’s hard to believe this was the final version I had so anxiously been awaiting since the announcement of 2...this series is a big part of my life and was the first video game I had ever played (specifically directors cut on ps1) resident evil holds a very special place in my heart and while this is a good game...it just hurts knowing what it could have been....just look at the first remake camera angles or not that game was and always will be a masterpiece ...I would have been fine waiting another couple years for a 3make that actually did the original justice.
But....... It's a remake. I loved how they did this. It was a nod to the original but they wanted to make it feel fresh with what she ultimately says at the end which was badass. No one wants a take for take remaster, they wanted a fresh remake and that's what we got.
Dude, you really sound like you're just clinging onto the old games. Keep those within your heart, these games are remakes. No one's telling you to forget the old games. Capcom ALWAYS changes their games. From RE1 to RE4. From RE4 to RE 7. CHANGES.
@@yougotkained Dude all im saying is it was just a very underwhealming game. Its still an entry in my favorite game series and i still am playing the shit out of it. They did great with 2 as well minus a few small things but this one just felt like it honestly could have been dlc. Yes i am a classic fan to the bone but come on man you cant tell me this game wouldnt have benifited from even an extra 6 months of revision.
Yep I noticed the lagginess and frame drops as well when I was shooting a zombie from a distance. And I hated the "puzzles", if you want to call them that, and boss battles in this game. Thought they would be the best aspects but they were the worst, which also took away the replayability aspect. I really didn't enjoy my 2nd playthrough.
@@gummibear696 It sucks dude Directors cut was the first game i had ever played and i immediately fell in love with it even if it terrified me, and when the remake came out in 2002 it managed to put that same fear into me in a whole new way while still maintaining the core elements and even adding new ones. When they announced the second one i had a feeling the camera angles would be changed of course and while i still think they could have made fixed angles work i was ready to experience what i felt with re1make all over again...and for the most part i did...My only gripes with that game were the branching story lines being cut because they had such an opportunity to do something really cool with that but hey life goes on...Now when they announced the 3rd one i was skeptical but figured they had to be developing the games in tandem since it took nearly 5 years for the second one to come out...but within the first hour of playing it i started to notice pretty significant graphical stutters happening to enemies on screen which was actually the first time i had ever seen anything like that short of Dire Dire Docks in SM64. I think i could get past that because it was only when aiming at long distances and didnt seem to affect jill in anyway , but 3 hours into the game i was already nearing the end...granted i savored every cut scene and explored every nook and cranny but still managed to beat the game in about 6 hours. It was almost like i was playing a summary or a rough generalization of resident evil 3 instead of a full blown remake. It just feels like they didnt try very hard on this one but aside from the short playtime and the graphical stutters i did enjoy this game it just could have been so much more. I hope they continue on with Code Veronica and knock that one out of the park because it deserves it most of all. Sorry for the book hahaha
Thanks for the objective review, i feel it too man. I enjoyed it a lot, and i want to replay it, get the platinum, because i can't get enough of this series, but it hurts to think what it could have been, i can't disagree with some of the critics, it lacks content, and some parts are kind of wasted potential. I will be a happy man if they fix the lack of content with free DLC's like they did in RE2REMAKE with the ghost survivors! But for now, i still enjoy this game a lot, but at the same time, i expected them to add more areas and add things they couldn't back in the day due to technical limitations. But i insist, its still a great game for me.
“Extremely limited ammo” WHAT!!! Did we play the same game! I finished the game on hardcore with almost all my ammunition intact. I only ran out of magnum bullets. I never had to worry about bullets in the entire gane.
I only ran out of ammo once, during the clock tower boss fight. But that was just because I wasnt expecting the boss fight and left my shotgun plus my surplus grenade launcher ammo in the storage box before it. A quick reload though and I never worried about ammo again. I had about 2 full stacks of handgun ammo I didnt even need.
Gonna end up buying both remakes, but I can't remember all of the set pieces and things others remember from the originals... It's been 20 years since I played these.
I’ve beaten this game twice so far and I still wanna keep playing it. I LOVE this game. While I do miss the cut content I think any Resident Evil fan should play this. It’s not perfect but it’s still such a good game if you enjoy the series.
It felt like Twin snakes to me didn’t come close to the original while I found RE2 to be better than the original. It just has so many problems weird design choices like the lack of puzzles, graphically worse in some areas with a toned down gore system, facial animations can look off in gameplay like Jill being grabbed around the neck and looking completely fine about it, Nemesis showing up mostly in Scripted events which weakens his overall appearance he just doesn’t show up in gameplay as much as MR X but the moments he does show up it’s great but it’s nothing like MR X. This was developed by a different team so yea I imagine that’s the reason for some of these problems but I just don’t have the same feeling I had with RE2
There are cut areas yes, but there are added/expanded areas too. Missing clock tower, park, factory and more downtown. But we got a way bigger hospital and a NEST 2. I didnt like the nest, but I loved the nes hospital, way better than OGRE3 hospital, but nobody mentions this.
Best review I seen so far. The constant complains about the length of the game and the action in other reviews is kinda annoying. I totally get don't want to spend 60 dollars on a 5 hour game, but what matters is been a fun game. People complaining about being more action than the second makes no sense to me, didn't they not played the original one or a blinded by nostalgia? Good review as always, my friend.
So people rightfully getting upset that they're paying $60 for a criminally short game that's 5 hours at most is annoying to you? Alright then. I'm just glad I didn't give in to my hype for this game and instead waited for the reviews.
Prof. Genki it has gotten excellent reviews u idiot look at the metascore. I put in double the amount of time by exploring and collecting everything. These youtubers just rushed the game like always.
@@BowmansWorld With reviews, both positive and negative criticizing how short it is. I understand your insult towards me though. Stupid little fanboys like you like to get ass hurt just because someone doesn't worship your favorite game, but at least try and not make yourself look like a jackass next time.
I just bought resident evil 7 because it was on sell and remembered loving watching people play through the game now I'm going to play resident evil 2.
It is the only RE game I don't have in my steam library, and the short playtime is the reason. I haven't been able to justify buying a 5-7 hour game for even the 20 bucks it is often on sale for (it is on sale as i write this). I'll get it when it's 10 dollars, or part of a humble bundle. Given that RE 8 is due to come out in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised if RE3 was on the humble monthly bundle soon.
Sadly Capcom missed a big opportunity of expanding this game, i mean it's Resident evil 3 NEMESIS, the one resident evil most of us love the most, they could have made 2 campaings, one for jill & one for carlos but they didn't do it. the game is good but not as good as it could have been, saying this hurts me very much but RE3 Remake would be great as a 30 Dollar DLC expansion for RE2 Remake, but as a 60 Dollar "full game" on it's own it's not that great, it's too short even in the hardest difficulty. I'd say go ahead & play it when it's half the price on a Sale.
@@plpz123 Hell Yeah! Doom Eternal will keep you adrenaline pumping and thats even has an average of 14 hours campaign length (Not including the collectibles/secrets/difficulty wise which is longer)... Lebron James I been playing RE since 2. Even the new resident 2 evil took me about 11 hours to beat the first time like most people did too. And a casual player can pass this in 6hr like that tells a lot. Remember that these journalist are for the most part casuals
@@solismax65 Because it's still worth it for some of us. I'm loving it so far and intend to replay it after I get off post. I'm a big Resi fan and the top notch quality is all here. Replayability is as well with the challenges and unlocks you can use to enhance further playthroughs. Plus Resistance is actually fun imo. I understand why some people don't wanna pay $60 for it but I'll gladly keep supporting these remakes.
Why some people moaning about RE3 remake being short? When I played RE2 remake for the 1st time hardest difficulty in under 4 hours and my 2nd time took me under 2 hours, so I say RE2 was short but I did enjoy it. I wont be expecting much about RE3, and now that they changed the knife durability and with new dodging thing, I probably enjoy this even more. Now that i have time to play game again, I'll buy it today :)
I just got to the first Carlos segment, I think I might be the only person who prefers this game so far, maybe it'll change by the end of the game who knows
I just finished and I have to say I did like the more fast paced action packed moments. I think both re2r and re3r are amazing, it's just one is slower and more puzzle oriented and one more action oriented. I love both. I don't mind the length so much because what I played was fun and it actually makes me more eager to replay it and unlock more extra content.
Agree. Just finished Carlos 1st part and took my time got everything and about 5 hours so far game time. It doesn’t count the time in cutscenes or reading the docs or looking at the map or anything. Plus a separate game and separate trophy/achievement list.
I always preferred RE3 to all of the others. I agree with what you are saying, however I love games that do not overstay their welcome. I feel this should have been slightly longer, not for length sake, but to include more of the original set pieces. That being said, I loved playing through this game and have earned the platinum on PS4. 9/10 from me.
Like RE2R? Where the game was just as short and added lackluster b scenarios with minor changes. I mean all you are doing is replaying the A scenarios. Also the lackluster DLC that was added. That first one? Was it really worth $60? Guess that would depend on the person
I enjoyed the game quite a bit. And although I get the negative reviews on it, I just treat it like it’s Resident Evil 2 Complete Edition and this is the fun action packed expansion pass content. Highly enjoyed it and can’t wait for RE8!
I've heard they cut alot out and to me that's never a good thing. res2r found a way to reimagine the game without much sacrifice which imo made it the main reason ot was so amazing.
They did. Like the clock tower, the park and the graveyard and replaced those with an extended Sewer level. I'm kind of tired of sewer levels in RE games.
@@kakojasonkiller1723 Yeah, wait till its on sale and they've fixed the issues with the games lack of content. They're probably gonna re-remake it in the future anyways.
@@kakojasonkiller1723 Yeah, pretty sure Capcom is gonna update RE3 remake for free with more unlockable outfits, weapons and side stories and hopefully a Mercenaries mode within months from now. So definitely wait.
Growing up an RE fan since the original, I was never that thrilled over Nemesis like others were. I felt that Code Veronica was the true RE 3, and Nemesis felt like the spin off it was originally meant to be.
@@mattrawlinson4093 Same here, I thought it was a master piece. Being a Wesker fan, seeing his image on the cover of CV made me want it even more at the time.
That's because Code Veronica is the true sequel, except Capcom had a contract with Sony to realese 3 resident evil games in PS. It's only the name but the real sequel es Code veronica
Some games benefit from a short playthrough kind of like Limbo. But a game like this shouldnt have an excuse to be around 5 hours long. Should be the same length as the RE2 remake.
I like that it's short, makes it more fun for challenge and speed runs. Also it has a solid multiplayer so it has a ton of replayability for me. Iirc it has ng plus also which is cool
laharl sama the gameplay, puzzles, animations, gunplay, gore, and even the graphics in some areas is worse than what we got in RE2 Remake. RE3 was developed by a different team and it really shows the Nemesis encounters are highly scripted, the puzzles are laughable, the horror survival isn’t really there with the fact that Nemesis isn’t all the scary as 80% of his encounters are out of your control unlike MR X where you actually had him following you in gameplay throughout randomly showing up while Nemesis just pops up like hey pre detonated event. If you never played the original then yes you’ll probably get more enjoyment out of this but as a massive RE3 fan this felt like a big disappointment pretty much what Twin snakes was to the original MGS changed A lot but had no heart. RE2 Remake in my opinion was better than the original but I can’t say this about RE3 remake
@@lordoptimus1979 Still felt too short for me. Now I'm not saying it's bad at all. But because RE2 has all that and still felt short, I expected this one to feel even shorter, that's my point.
I like the scripted Nemesis moments. I feel like he shows up enough so that the player doesn't get annoyed or he over stays his welcome. Not sure why so many want more nemesis, i remember many people complained that Mr.X showed up too often. I think Nemesis is more balanced and pulling off the dodge mechanic in tense moments makes the player feel like a bad ass.
focus4ever00 My personal opinion I disagree I like how Mr X was constantly chasing you it gave me a lot of anxiety but in a good way it was a challenge. And nemesis was supposed to be the upgraded version of him but with guns and is constantly hunting you in the city and while the scripted events are badass that was never the point of nemesis his whole thing in the original RE3 was that he’s unpredictable he just shows up out of nowhere it’s supposed to keep you on your toes not to mention he’s more of a pushover than Mr X!!! Like one grenade downs him like come on he’s nemesis!!!
@a hot diarrhea not really, but I did like RE 5..that was all action but the gameplay was fun..RE 3 does have survival horror sections like the hospital and the RPD..its not perfect at all but its far from a bad game
@@raginlemon9261 i played it on hardcore and i may agree to a certain extent; on that setting his encounter while scripted it is more challenging. I actually thought that the boss battles could have been more inventive and on hardcore they are somewhat annoying. If you don't have a high powered weapon he's like a bullet sponge. However, it felt great to pull off the dodge and blast him. The clocktower boss battle i had to basically farm for mine bombs in order to beat him..and yes i remember in the original when the player had to hit him off the wall,...WOW its 2020!, that section I think could have used more time to develop a more smart boss battle that was actually fun. Aside from the missing content, I did like the game and understand that it fails to live up to the RE2 remake.
@Lightsyde Phil finally a true RE historian.. no offense guys.. go back and play the RE3 PS1 game and you will see..sometimes we see the past through rose colored lenses.
Honestly nightmare difficulty felt really good and inferno was a good challenge as well. The game feels a lot more survival horror-y on those difficulties for me. Playing them though made me realize that they didn’t want these games to be survival horror like re2. You’re playing two highly trained mercenaries rather than a college student and a first day cop. You’re supposed to feel more powerful as jill and carlos and I think they really succeeded on that. Also the dodge and parry mechanics for those two was also really fun and added a new layer of skill expression beyond just aiming and shooting. I agree that it was short and I really wanted more from it even as someone who has never played the original re3. I had fun though and I highly recommend trying the difficulties beyond hardcore if you want an experience more like re2
Nobody was in a hurry for this game to come out, so why did the developers rush it? They could’ve taken another year or two and made it much longer and complete.
They wanted that chunky dough 💰

There still is love behind the making of this entry, however it is evident there is not as much love as there was for RE 2 Remake. Which is really unfortunate considering these games are mainly for the fans, and people who played the originals and or the franchise for a long time. Make a good game and bring back the fear the players all experienced once before. That is what this game didn’t bring forth a strong as RE 2 remake did.

But I’d rather have a full length game without resistance 😐 oh well
I wished they added mercenary mode. But still I like the game , OG is the best but this remake isn't as bad as what people are talking about.
Id rather they price the game at what its worth, 20-25$, MAYBE 30.
RE3 shoulda be released in 2021 without REsistance and with more areas to explore. RE2 was awesome people wanted same but more, but yet we got less

Mr X was lame
Nier Automata most Nemesis encounters we’re scripted to give the effect that’s he was always one step ahead of you while MR X was went for the more stalker within gameplay having some scripted cutscenes and one scene the player could completely miss where he walks through the wall in the police station. People are being too kind about this game. It's TOO SHORT and I'm sorry, but that's just not acceptable for a £50 game in this day and age.
They likely made resistance because when they finished with the Remake they knew it wasn't enough to justify $60 so they added resistance instead
Agreed, I really don't like the fact that they cut the clocktower out or when Nemesis could dodge your grenades making you feel a bit more exasperated. There was INFINITE potential to make this game 10/10.
I'm not saying that the game is bad, but it could've been a richer and better experience.

Original better
@@truthseeker9833 Is that false tho? Or are you one of those guys that think prettier = better?
Sinthetik They have been taking their time with this one though! It was in development since 2016 and was developed alongside the RE2 Remake!
@@AtrociousAK47 have you played nightmare or inferno mode yet?
I already finished it. I enjoyed it, but it is not worth $60. I feel like especially since Resistance and RE3 are already different clients, each one should be $30 each, then $50 for a bundle if you want both.
Dustpan yeah that would’ve been great
That sounds good ,but oh well
Waiting for crack to complete it once and never touch it again lol
And neither was RER2.
An RE4 remake would be very welcomed in my book, but I highly doubt they'll do it as its still selling across multiple platforms..
You mean a Code Veronica remake?

@generic generic Re3 is around the same playtime of the original. Mind you all these games were upon release were all relatively short. But I do agree charging full price was a bad move
To take a game that was already pretty brief and make it shorter and take out a post game mode was a choice.
I just got the game today and that sucks to hear it's short ☹️ well we can always put the game on hardest difficulty I'm sure that will make the game a little longer.
that is no excuse, they went lazy with RE3 remake
The problem is the story is even shorter. Multiple areas were cut, lack of multiple endings/choices and no mercenaries.

Personally, I was disappointed. RE3 is my favorite out of the series and it was for the puzzles and Nemesis popping up out of nowhere. Shit in RE2 I stood in the safe room listening to the footsteps from tyrant cause I was scared af.

Yeah it basically a dlc
Yea that’s why I am waiting for a sale
The game is short like everyone says, they should’ve just made it a dlc side story for 2 remake & called it RE nemesis without the 3. Story wise it’s not the sequel to re2 anyway.
RE3 has never been a sequel to RE2. They take place at relatively the same time.
It would make no sense to remove the 3 because that was in the original
Keep in mind that Capcom was working on the RE3 Remake way before the RE2 Remake was even announced.
@@Phoenix-qv9hg exactly
COD release annual crap with a short campaign and multiplayer and the animals lap that up for $60 plus the season pass on top of that and Capcom have kind of done the same here.
well, if that's the case, what bullshit people, they mus be the same people who must like pre cooked food instead of doing it themselves lol

I bought it right away, and don’t have any regrets spending $60, it’s my favorite game of this year so far with Doom Eternal being a close second favorite.
Unfortunately it's hard to make Mr. X but faster and stronger without making a character that absolutely destroys you every time you meet.
Nemesis was better than ever!
They should add more free content to 3 like they did with 2 remake!
I’m sure they’re going to! :) I am enjoying the hell out of this game and I already finished my first play through on Hardcore!

Anthony Colston that would of been cool
It wouldn't really fit the story honestly
Not only that, but it would also make the game twice as long which it desperately needs
Anthony Colston they wouldn’t do it because the original wasnt like that either
This is Re 3 not 2
“Well under 5 hours long”. Most people have nothing but time, and to drop $60 on a game you can beat in one sitting is absolutely insane. If there’s a sale on this one, I will consider it for sure. I just can’t justify a game that’s $10+ an hour, and left out a lot of iconic moments. No one was in a hurry for this anyway, can’t believe they didn’t take more time.
totally agree. with people locked in the house we need titles that keep us busy! this is the main reason why i took gta v
Eze SMH to you not seeming to grasp they literally developed a game that can be beaten under 5 hours. Unless you play games in 15 minute increments to really drag this one out, I’m surprised you’re supporting that either way lol.
@Eze global pandemia or not, the money is yours so do what you want! Spending 60 euros to play 5 hours is simply wrong for me!
2:55- " you're stressing over extremely limited ammo..."
-Looks his ammo.
I don't think so.
On the classic Carlos had a lot ammo too. You struggle more with Jill at the start/mid game.
190+ Rounds of that thing are nothing for the kind of shit that section throws at you. Hell, I'd even say he's short on ammo right there
It takes about 60 rounds to take out 1 Hunter and this section of the game throws around 6 or 7 at you.
I love this game! Currently on my second run through, but I still think RE2 was better
i finished re 3 nd unlocked everything in the shop except the rifle and decided to play re2 (but re2 doesn't have the dodge mechanic so I'm not sure if im going to enjoy it or not)
I like the locations in Res 3 and the start of the game was 🔥 the atmosphere they nailed it
I read somewhere that this started development at around the same time as RE2 Remake and was outsourced.
It's funny because the original RE3 was turned around in the same kinda time frame and it turned out to be a classic in the long run.
this game needs a dlc with the alternative choice and the old scenarios like the clock tower
nicolas hernandez that would be awesome
Kinda like the scenarios in re2r with the girl, the cop & kendo
There is no clocktower? whaaaaaat?
Not likely to happen. With how linear they've made the game, remaking old locations and adding them in as well as implementing scenarios to facilitate choices would be extremely difficult.
They're better off making an entirely new game.
it better be free then. Because for the current price this game is a joke compared to RE2 Remake

This game was a joke. Nemesis wasn't even a little scary or intimidating. He was more annoying than anything.
Exotic Beatz I think that nemesis at the beginning of the game was scary as he gave off similar vibes to what mr X did in RE2 as a persistent threat the the player but version 2 nemesis wasn’t even scary at all to be fair 😑 he only ever turned up in boss battles
When brad said “sorry” as zombie ruined it for me
@@hulkules187 That ruined it?

TheOutstanding Otter Same. Beat it twice. It’s a really short game =\

Given that RE 8 is due to come out in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised if RE3 was on the humble monthly bundle soon.
i agree 100%
Releasing it at this time where almost everybody is at home and is looking for games to play ,and for it being only a 5+hour game is a bad idea

laharl sama the gameplay, puzzles, animations, gunplay, gore, and even the graphics in some areas is worse than what we got in RE2 Remake.
@Dr VR That's pretty much Mr. X in RE2R, and Nemesis seems to be a dumbed down version of him.
