Another tip: If ran out of healing items and you're about to die (a pixel of HP and the screen is reddish), the game will skyrocket the drop rate from green herbs on items that enemies and barrels/boxes give you. Of course, this also means that once you grab ONE of those green herbs the game will return their drop rate to normal, so if you're pretty good at not getting touched you could abuse this trick a little bit to get more herbs by not grabbing them just yet.
I got like 4 green herbs from salazar fight because of those explosive droppings, popping those while at no health and not picking up right away because of hugging pillar to avoid attacks... When I ran out again it was so much green on the ground.
@@megnugget2631 Yeah, the same happened to me LOL.
Interesting, I believe RE5 has a limit for how many of them can spawn, and it counts both the ones in your inventory and ones on the ground, not sure about OG re4 though
Played GOW 2018 on GMGOW difficulty and oh yes am i good at not being touched
Literally how I survived the last minute of the cabin.
Another tip: Upgrading your knife's durabilty to max should be your first upgrade priority.
Fr parrying is a lifesaver
Yep.. one of the upgrades I thought at first is a waste of money but I did anyway. Boy was a delightedly surprised
I’m surprised but not in disbelief to hear this. I thought upgrading the pistol would be best since it’s easier to make ammo for it, but I’ll definitely do this on my next playthrough
Yeah that's what i did. I rely on parrying alot.
Especially on hardcore mode. villagers been whooping my ass in the early part of the game
All I know is, this game has scratched my RE4 itch better than I could have ever imagined. This game has superseded my expectations, it’s easily as good as the original, which is surprising for me to say considering the original was one of my favourite games of all time. It genuinely feels just like the original game, with amazing visuals and some very pleasing extras that actually add more to the game. Couldn’t be happier. Oh and the chief is 10X cooler too.
Agreed - felt like I was back in 2005 or something
@@PayHomageJC me too man. Couldn’t be happier.
Re4 is one of my top favorites but I never could get rid of the feeling that a lot of the environments felt weird and didn't make sense (turns out that's cause re4 was originally a dmc game lol) and you can tell in a lot of places, I personally feel like this is a big improvement
Got it today £46 from asda, you can move and shoot, that's 10/10 for me already
Totally agree, was one of my faves. They kept it similar but different enough to make it more difficult. New mechanics are great too.
Also, in the original and in the remake, if you shoot the treasure and it lands in the well, it's not "lost" or "gone for good", they can still be picked up out of the wells, they'll just be dirty instead of clean and will sell for less
Ohhhhhhhhh my God that’s what makes it dirty?! 😮
I think that only applies to Leon. Ada on the other hand would not pick up the dirty treasure
that was in the original as well
@@meannleanmarine yeah haha
Exactlyyy, the treasure don't get lost it just get dirty
Another tip: If you’re low of bullets in the chamber of any weapon don’t waste money in the ammo upgrade with the merchant, it doesn’t fill up your ammo like in the original. Always reload your gun.
Very good to know! Thanks!
I tried this today thinking that it would work. Sadly not the case! Like OP said, don't waste the money unless you are upgrading the weapon anyway!
Aw. The main attraction of upgrading the striker to maximum (100 free shotgun rounds) is gone then.
Thanks bud I was wondering about this last night.
I was so disappointed they removed this feature at it benefited being organised!
You can also use the bolt gun so you can eliminate all the crows without alerting the other crows.
Yes and you can also retrieve the bolts you use. Love the bolt gun
MMM good tip. Never liked having to choose just one crow and go with it in the original.
@@TheAginG420 In the original, if you throw a flash grenade near the circle of crows, it takes them all out
@@dakmattes6952 does that also apply to the remake?
@@dakmattes6952 same with remake ❤
Another tip that I been using. When the Merchant start selling First Aid Sprays in the chapters, you can buy it from him. The benefit in buying them, this is the ONLY health item you can put into your storage typewriter besides your weapons.
I've started doing this and stocking up on them for my professional playthrough
It's literally the first thing I buy to make sure I don't run out of taco currency
Thanks Man 😊
What I wonder is if you dont buy them early. Will he sell more of them later?? Or will it be gone forever?? Same for the recources?
The REASON I suggest aiming for Kneecaps with Mobs over Headshots is that it forces them into a kneeling postion allowing for a better crowd controlled Kick to be utilized to force back other mobs, there's also a 20% Less chance of the Tentacle Las Plagus from spawning from the decpatated head, OR the target getting up with a broken kneck thus wasting precious ammo early on.
Practice Knife parrying at a checkpoint with a single enemy, GET Good can go piss off, practice is what you need.
GET GOOD is literally just the asshole way of saying practice
You can suplex enemies before the castle, same position works on villagers
I never got why the original made it like an unlock once you got to the castle. I’m sure to combat plagas but they were already there in the village
You can supplex the villagers from the back when kneeled
@@HueboMoment I always thought that the villagers were too heavy for Leon to suplex.
What this guy said 😂
yes, I've suplexed a woman in the swamp
WHO GAVE FALCON A TRAQUILIZER!?!?! What have they done to my boy? Lol
Dido, I thought the same thing, something in the voice sounds different, some AI software voice recording
He sounds weird
Glad I’m not the only one who thought he sounded different
Yeh, that's what I noticed too, it feels like appa Falcon took over.
First thing I’ve noticed
To get an easier suplex: shoot an enemy in leg A till they are stalled holding it. Then switch and shoot leg B. Shooting leg A will cause them to go down into a stunned while facing you. Shooting leg B however seems to cause them to spin around with their back facing you, allowing an easy suplex.
You could just say left and right 💀
@@Zessifml"why do it the easy way, when you can on the hard way."
~ Math, probably.
THIS!
Hit em with that 1, 2, suplex!
The bolt gun's silence also lets you clear the room with two berserkers without triggering them.
It’s actually easier to alert them especially in higher difficulties. They can take out most of the enemies for you. Just shoot your gun, run, hide and watch any enemy near them get shredded
Wish I would’ve known that 10 deaths ago
yep i noticed that aswell. Luckily i had a fair amount of bolt ammo when i got to that room, and got to find that out
Did they clone Falcon? He doesn't sound the same.....Falcon blink twice if you are in danger .
It sounds slightly sped up?
Falcon, I mean this with all due respect. I was half way into watching the video when I realized it was actually you who was narrating. Once I foolishly realized the fact… I imagined as if you had somehow gotten into a Time Machine to get to the original RE4 release date just so you can have that youthful version of yourself come to our timeline in 2023 to experience the remake. I know… super crazy, but you sound so much younger to me in this video for some reason? Either way, awesome tips as always! Thank you! 🙏🏻
I wonder if they’re using an AI voice
Is he going to type blinking in the comments!? 😂😂😂
@@randompixels7901 holy shit he does sound like ai. Like no emotion im his voice
another tip: the map doesn't automatically show treasures, you have to get a treasure map from the merchant for them to appear without encountering them prior.
Or get the deluxe version
I believe even this version the map is only for the village not the whole game it'd be great if it was but idk
@@bmac9539 no, it’s for the whole game
@@jgoldian47 I have the Delux edition I still had to buy the Treasure Map
edit: saw I was getting likes so just wanted to inform it was apparently a glitch that didn't let the DLC load
@@kaelhyun2401 ah my bad
The deluxe edition only adds exclusive treasures to your map
Worth pointing out if you use the bolt thrower on crows, other crows around the first crow won't run. And you get your bolts back.
Here's another tip, during the village fight if you have a good enough aim you can shoot the bell at the church to initiate the cut scene completely skipping past it
No way 😂 I’ll need to try this when I start a new playthrough LOL
Didn't know that. I have another option that I did in the demo - I literally just keep moving for four minutes without shooting any enemy. Just keep moving. After four minutes, the bell goes off.
That really do the trick!😂😂
@@richbunnell7426 Only problem with that is you don’t get the jewelry for killing the chainsaw guy.
I really loved the surprise when I went for the shotgun. Lol. It's like it was meant for those uf us that knew where to run
In the old RE4, in regards to Number 6 and the well, you don’t lose the treasure in the well. The treasure becomes dirty and is worth less but it’s still retrievable.
Same goes for the new one too
It gives you five thousand pesos
I was like huh? when he said that
damn ive been getting the dirty pendants this whole time not knowing theyd be more if id sealed the well
@@Redexile15 I did the same thing for the longest time. I’m ready for this remake as soon as they work out the bugs
I'm still thankful for whoever brought a ton of yellow paint and tape, and continues to do so by putting them on destructibles.
Thanks! I just started playing. Those castle scenes look intense! Can’t wait to get there.
Cant believe you actually play this game
You play these games too ???
Was not expecting to see you here
The crossbow is actually really good for stealth. You can shoot enemies and it makes no sound which would alert the others.
You don't need to reach the Castle to do the Suplex.
You can do it right at the start.
Yea that was odd, as you're able to perform suplex even back chainsaw demo
@@CP077 I think they were referring to OG GameCube Resident Evil 4 game play & not the new ones or the remake! I heard this was a true fact for the longest time by IGN or other Reviewers…
@@davidmunroe-glada2098 you can suplex right out the gate in OG as well
@@juanstarnotip8122 Okay that's not true. You could not suplex the villagers at the start of the game in the original, but you can in the remake.
@@davidmunroe-glada2098 cool, thanks.
This is the remake we wanted it to be I have no complaints about it. 10/10 for me
I have one major complaint about this game.
It doesn't say "Resident Evil" when you press start at the title screen 😢
@@MrVexedviper unless you buy a dlc
@Saber Seriously? Well, Capcom can shove that up their ass.
The voice acting is pretty not great. Leon, Ashley, Salazar and the Merchant are fine. Luis is eh but Ada and Krauser's voices don't fit them at all and Sadler oh God why...
@Phoebe Buffet I do agree.. the only thing that has stood out as wrong in this game, is Ada. Everything else, stellar.
Along with tip nº 5, you can always use each kitchen knife until it's almost broken, and then use it to craft into bolts to milk the most out of them.
EDIT: you actually get less bolts when you craft.
you actually craft less if the knife is damaged
@@viktorfolke5515 Holy crap I've been wasting bolts then.. thank you.
It's a tough choice I suppose. You save some ptas from repairing your combat knife but you get half as many bolts, which seems like a huge waste of Resources (L).
I tend to equip the bad knives (lowest possible durability) whenever I go for a stab that costs a lot of durability because it still works just as good even it the damage it takes overkills it :)
I never even did the suplex in the original, but I constantly do it now in the remake. My wife was watching me play and was like, you really like that move. I was like, yes yes I do. My favorite thing now 😂😂😂
For number 6, I'm surprised this detail wasn't talked about because I don't think those treasure lanterns are hard at all in the remake. Listen out for the sound of metal squeaking, it is VERY loud and SUPER noticeable. It honestly makes it hard to ignore them because of how loud that sound effect is.
Also number 5 is something the game tells you. The merchant straight up talks about the bolt thrower with one of his info sheets you find around him.
Also if you have the treasures showing on the map, and you go to where it says and there's no treasure... look up. It's probably a lantern.
There is one spot on the island, right before the lake section, where you can shoot a lantern to drop a treasure, but won't be able to retrieve it until chapter 4 when you have the boat. Which is really cool, actually.
Fun fact: the new spot for the well/wood treasure is actually the same as the original. There were two wells you could shoot the piece of wood to get the clean treasure. They only changed the first one with the windmill thing.
Shooting the treasure over the well doesn't lose it forever, it just becomes "dirty" in the original
Also in this remake, actually. Happened to me just yesterday.
@bellissimo4520 That's so sick, love that they've kept the minor details
Yeah that's what happened to me. I didn't know you could close the well. Is it worth more ptas if you close the well maybe?
@@davidbjacobs3598 clean treasures are worth more yes
@@davidbjacobs3598 Yes, it is. The clean version gets you more money than the dirty one.
I love how the suplex changed from a belly-to-belly to a German suplex
He went from Kurt angle to Brock lesnar.
@@Blackhawks19_xx Suplex City baby
U didn’t just say that
Can’t wait to play it after work! Actually really happy that the medallions extend to the castle map, was always fun to hunt and find them
👍🏼
While enemies are stunned, you can knife them from behind you can also get a few knife slashes in before melee to do some extra damage 😊
They say that when Falcon plays Resident Evil 4, the game itself gets scared! The zombies hide, the bosses cower, and even the Merchant offers him a discount just to get him to leave!
😂
Think u have falcon confused with me 💀💀💀💀 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man, I love how they bait old players into doing their old habit, only to encounter trap or confusion due to old knowledge lol. It affect me more since I probably finished the og like 10 times.
👍🏼
Makes it better for people who never played it
The bear traps are impossible to detect!!! So much details.
Like not reloading, upgrading capacity and getting free ammo?
@@yharnamiyhill787 I got hit by so many bear traps! They were devious as all hell placing them this time around.
Good tip, always go for the melee, especially after getting the melee crit charm, and when in groups, your kick will usually hit more than one enemy.
You can also unlock the HANDCANNON by getting an S rank on the 3 Mercenaries maps so you won't need to buy the broken butterfly. This gun eventually gives you unlimited ammo as well. Unlock Krauser by getting A rank with Leon, then A rank with Luis on any of the maps and it should be super simple using his knife and special move from there.
This time, Leon spends more time trying to miss with the Handcannon more than anything. I don't know how many times I've aimed dead center at near point blank range and he still misses. It's practically at XCOM levels.
@@Denji2006should I get the shotgun instead
“Hi folks it’s falcon” Don’t lie to me. I’ve never heard whoever this imposter is in my life
You can retrieve the loot even if you don't close the well lid in the original, it's just dirty and worth less to the merchant than if it was clean but it's still obtainable
Surprised you didn't mention the capacity upgrade to weapons no longer reloads them to full. (At least in normal mode.)
Also in the water room: you can snipe two of the ranged enemies before anyone notices you. Just stand in the entrance and you'll see two guys on the far platform. Shooting them won't trigger anything. It's just two less guys to worry about.
Then, I found if you clear the whole first part, you can snipe a whole bunch more ranged enemies before jumping down. You're harder to hit on that ledge, so it's a great way to play management for later.
The ranged enemies will continue, but just having less of them is a real relief. Those guys can hit you before you even know they're there!
I didnt even recognize falcons voice at first 😂
Same!I then proceeded to the comments to see if anyone was talking about it 😅
lol bet flacon played RE the entire day.
Red 9 is a absolute monster, fully upgraded with the stock absolutely demolishes pretty much every enemy in the game in a few shots. Save up some spindles and around the castle you can buy a exclusive ticket that lets you unlock the exclusive ability for a weapon for free (not counting the spindles obv I think it’s like 20 or 30 so it’s a lot!) then you can get the exclusive before you fully upgrade the weapon. I maxed out damage and got the exclusive which increases damage by like 1.5x the amount and it shreds. At face value it doesn’t look like it does a ton of damage but it does CONSISTENT damage at any range pretty much and with the stock accuracy and sway isn’t a issue. Even chops plaga down when they come out, very ammo efficient as long as you take your time and land your shots!
But doesn't the reticle contract well enough to allow for accurate shots?
@@DutchGuyMike with the stock absolutely, without it you’re probably better off with something else like the punisher or something which the puncture from the punisher is really good in the castle even more so now with a enemy that got altered (I don’t want to spoil it obv) but if you don’t mind how much space it takes up you could even use the Red9 for some surprisingly long distances pretty accurately IMO
@@awkward-girl-sera8143 Ok, thanks! :)
4:30
If you shoot the crows when enemies are around they will be alerted to your presence by the rest flying away. Use bolts to avoid this from happening.
You CAN do the suplex in the village in the remake. It’s in the original you can only do it once you get to the castle
It's like Falcon shaved....but it's his voice
The fact that gameranx gave a love mention and answered to multiple dozens of comments but didn't acknowledge a single mention of Falcon voice being unrecognizable is making this even more insane, wtf is going on guys
They remade Falcon
Tip about the body armor: If you want to use it for longer, don't repair it if it is still in decent shape. The price for the repair does not grow proportionally with its damage. If it's barely damaged, it will be relatively expensive to get to 100%, but if it's down to ~20% durability, it'll be way cheaper to repair than if you wait for it to break. So you don't want to repair it every chance you get if it's not needed, but repair before it breaks completely. I'm not sure if the knife repairs work the same way, but repairing small knife damage seems quite expensive too.
Didn't know this! Thanks.
Regarding the finding weapons part in RE4 remake, it's also worth noting once you obtain the gun/weapon is that you won't be able to get another in your next playthrough (used to sell the extra shotgun in the village and broken butterfly for additional Money)
So far loving this remake
👌
Likewise.
GAME OF THE YEAR
Had it downloaded all day, but not got started yet. Have been reading the Steam threads and some folk reporting performance issues. Hope it's OK.
@@greenbow7888 don’t worry, I’m running my game on my old 1660ti and I’m getting a steady 120 frames on high settings(no ray tracing). I haven’t had a single crash or issue.
Glad to see the Red9 is just as good as the OG RE4. Was worried they were gonna butcher my go to.
It is kind of butchered, its accuracy is horrible and the reticle never tightens "well enough".
Sentinel outperforms it no problem.
@@DutchGuyMike It's perfectly fine with the stock, just aim better.
@@Wr41thgu4rd thats the deluxe edition weapon? is it better than the punisher pistol
@@Redexile15 the sentinel is really good until you get punisher or blacktail
Ive done the suplex on villagers in the first part of the game, its pretty rare but if you can shot their legs and have them end up facing the same way as you you can pull it off. I only did it like twice tho so it is pretty rare
If I remember, the necklace wasn't "lost forever" in the original game, it just became the Dirty Necklace and sold for alot less that it would have if you didn't shoot the well cover
FALCON sounds like he just took some antidepressants and was forced to go to sensitivity training...
The map is such a great improvement. I always failed to shoot and find the last blue medallion in the old game.
How? 😂 The map in the OG ain't hard, and it clearly says "7 in the farm - 8 in the cemetary" on the note. Meaning they are only in those areas...look around? Ever heard of that? 😅 Even if I never needed a map for that or for treasures at all after replaying it alot back in the day...
What on God's name is happening? 😂 this is sooo fucken trippy. Ain't no way this is falcon. Must be his evil twin
The game does give you an autosave if in the water room if you drop down to the area with the wheel to lower the stairs,
It is a good area to lure the groups in because they drop down and the shield enemies will put their shields on their backs.
8:40 You can do the same thing when you first enter the island, you can pretty much avoid spawning the machinegun guy if you sneak your way until the last guy standing near the door, just oneshot him with a magnum or killer7 and the whole section then is cleared. Tip: you can shoot the lights to avoid those from catching you while you sneak around, don't shoot them more then 1 time though then enemies come looking for you, you still don't get immediately discovered but that does change up their walking pattern.
Calmest “game DOESN’T TELL YOU.” Video Yet
Red9 isn't new?? It's the most powerful of all the handguns in the original RE4. It's pretty much everyone's favorite. Personally I like the Blacktail myself.
👍🏼
I mean the silver ghost is the goat when you fully upgrade it with exclusive upgrade. That red9 damage doesn't mean much when the standard handgun can just one-shot enemies pretty frequently.
What was the difference between the Blacktail and the Punisher(my favorite). I completely forgot.
@@BLAZE084 Blacktail didn't penetrate enemies, but the Punisher had the lowest damage of all pistols. Blacktail also had the fastest firing speed (besides the post-game Matilda), and had the 2nd highest damage behind the Red 9.

Appreciate the tips. Feel like I've played 100 RE's, and yet I somehow missed this one the first time around (may or may not have been in the "what have they done to my RE crowd" at the time...can't really remember)
Good video, Falcon.. Just a note on the suplex: you don't have to reach the castle to be able to use it, you can do it from the start
What happened to Falcon’s voice? He sounds WAY less snarky
Just met the merchant for the first time in the remake. I played the original when it came out a VERY long time ago... Enjoying it now just as much as I did then
A tip when you get to the Quarry for the first time. If you have a flashbang, chuck it at the crows. They have some good stuff on them! Plus, it counts towards a challenge!
Edit: Flashbang, not flashback. Unless you're having a flashback using a flashbang... Imma leave now.
You don't have to reach the castle section to do the suplex. I did it plenty of times in the village section.
Also, even if the treasure falls in the well, it's not lost forever, but it does drop in value when you try to sell it to the merchant.
8:45 definitely felt like a jump scare 😂
Falcon is giving me uncanny valley in this video so bad i kept thinking I was listening to a different channels video 😭
great vid. i played on the game cube. this is easily my favorite RE game.
You can always suplex even in the beginning(unlike the original), you have to be behind the kneeling enemy.
Also the Red9 was in the original.
The map only shows treasures if you buy the upgrade from the merchant
I think the reason why the game become even more stingier on weapons and ammo is because the game is now more melee centric... You keep all those fancy melee moves (roundhouse kick, suplex, etc) and now your knife is also much more powerful. It now breaks but you can parry and do various devastating attacks... Also, now you can dodge/crouch!
U also had parry(sometimes and if ur timing is good)plus the melees in the original, and at the very beginning of the island I was FULL of all types of ammo literally the xl was wasn’t enough for the ammo I would have(Normal mode only)
@@FernandoHernandez-ws7po iinm, parry in original is not a prompt attack, so the timing is unforgiving and no guarantee to succeed. Rather than parry, i prefer to just run out of the way in original version.
I burst out laughing when I realized you can knife away axes on the original re4. Or shoot the dynamite even
I wouldn't call the game "melee-centric" as you will have a bad time playing if you only stick to melee. Still, they did make melee a whole lot more useful here for ammo conservation and defensive purposes.
@@StrikeNoir105E I said MORE melee centric... Meaning you still have to use your guns.
Thanks for the update I am so excited for the game
The castle is such a masterpiece of level design in my humble opinion. It´s a real joy playing through this Remake!

That’s just not true lmao
@@Krosstic lol it is. You can still shoot the medallions but they won’t appear on your map until you pick up the blue note
@@David_Shao idk why but when you said map I thought you meant game world, like you couldn’t even see them at all until you got the request, that’s my bad bro.
Something very important you didn’t list is that you can run to the next room and have a barrier between you and the regenerator. This makes it super easy so that they can’t corner you anywhere. The best thing to do is to run in the room get a shot or two off at their bug and then leave the room and come back. This doesn’t always work because there is one room where you have to stay put.
Just a heads up the Suplex works right from the start. I did it in the opening village area by accident.

4:13 Falcon suggesting to shoot crows and birds' nests 😱
Red9 was pretty much the weapon for my first gameplay. Since there is soo much handgun ammo in the game, I never had to craft a single one and used Red 9 for almost everything where there was a bit of space and time. This allowed me to save all the resources and better ammo for any challenging situations. Bolt thrower on the other hand I find totally useless in standard mode as it's soo weak that it provides no benefit over red9 as it alerts enemies anyway. However it was very helpful with the attachable mines which are useful to fight pretty much any tougher enemy in the game including bosses.
Great video as always.
But something is up with the voice. It sounds like falcon but also not at the same time.
Like they found someone who can copy falcon's voice because the real falcon unavailable because he's migrating or something like that
Something Happened to Falcons voice. Somebody help him... Might be an AI voice
Little tip to the gameranx crew. Can you guys change to a black screen when the numbers appear on screen. Im getting flashed more then in call of duty whenever the white screen appears. 🙂
