The Story of Farseer Nobundo - Part 1 of 2 [Lore]

- A little while ago we did the story of Tirion Fordring and we talked about his ex-communication, being disconnected from the Light. Tirion figured that such a thing was impossible and he would be proven right. HOWEVER, there is a story known, a weapon out there capable of removing the connection to the Light and that's what we're going to be talking about today. I Hope you'll enjoy ^_^

1:10 The Draenei ship was named the Genedar, the Orcs were the ones to call it Oshu'gun because they thought it was a mountain.
FUN FACT: when Blizzard translated WoW to portuguese they changed his name to "Nobambo", since "Nobundo" sounds like "in the ass" in portuguese.
😂
Tirion: One does not simply remove the Light from a man!
Demons: Allow us to introduce you to a way that does.
Uther: Hippity Hoppity, you’re no longer apart of the light
Hi people of the first!
Hii
Howdy! It's comfy in here
-Gasp- I have never been here this fast before.
Hello everyone.
Much love Nobbel, your videos are such a treat to watch
I would love it so much if you did a lore video on The War of the Ancients. I finally finished the trilogy this past week and loved it.
Heya Nobbel! You my bro are the cure to my anxiety. When i work and go to sleep i repeat your videos to chill and concentrate. Thank you for that. I would like to ask you if you can do a short lore video on King Terenas Menethil II. I noticed that nobody did it and i would like to know more about him. Thanks
Farseer Nobundo is the most slept on Shaman in the lore. I wish there were more notable Draenei shaman in the lore.
When I put together my transmog, it centered around the question, what would a Draenei Shaman look like? A simple question with alot of room for personal interpretation.
My interpretation attempts to blend Shaman tier sets with armour pieces that are reminiscent of the plate woren by a Draenei paladin, typically decorated with purple jewels and engraved with runic markings along elegantly beveled edges of each piece. Seeing as paladins are warriors of the light, and the light also an integral part of Draenei culture, it seem like a natural source to draw inspiration.
The story of Farseer Nobundo and the Krokul(the Broken) were also a large source of inspiration for my transmog. What if a Draenei had accepted the teaching and gift of the elements but still held on to Draenei teachings ,culture and traditions? What would that look like?
This reminds me to read the Unbroken short story again. Such a good read
So if Velen goes to the Shadowlands, could he meet himself? How about Grom? WoD screwed up so much.
well since alternate universe velen killed himself in the cinematic we saw in WoD he probably went to alternate universe shadowlands which means that our velen will not meet himself.
His soul would merge with that of the one that is already present, same with Grom.
@@fracke7588 There is no alternate Shadowlands. In an interview with Steve Danuser he made it pretty evident that all versions of a soul are connected to that one being's soul. He compared them to a rope, where you can unravel a rope and have it's individual strands but they are all still a part of that same rope. And eventually all of the versions of one's soul will become one again, a single solid rope.
@@HavocHounds1988 I guess that makes sense. Although he basically redefined alternate universe
@Angello Rivera-Hurtado Wrathion helped as well. It was partly his idea. This was explained in the alpha of Legion when Wrathion was disguised as Ebonhorn, but then that whole thing was changed. And the Infinite Dragon Flight along with Warlord Zaela also aided in breaking Garrosh free from his trial and sending him back in time. Also, it wasn't Kairoz' power that did it, it was a specific artifact that he used that enabled him to do this.
I just started playing a Draenei Shaman, good timing!
May the Light bless you with fun times!!!
This was fantastic. I was completely enthralled for the entire video. Makes me want to play a draenei.
I remember the story of Nobundo, the Broken, and the sacking of Shattrath from the site during BC. Always liked his story. Sad I missed this video for a week before seeing pt2 show up.
So much depth of lore with the broken. Would’ve preferred them infinitely more than the lightforged as an allied race. Also would’ve been great to have different classes like rogues and warlocks with the Draenei model/rig for them.
oh man.... first Tirion and now youre doing my favorite character ever?! feels like Christmas came earlier. love you, Nob
Nobundo is basically a saint. I loved his character arc in the short story unbroken!
Sitting here, with piece of cold cake and glass of milk, ready to know something more
Has anyone told you how incredibly badass you are, friend? Because it sounds like you're absolutely killing it in that department 💙
So that's how the Draenei learned how to wield the elements. I've always wondered thanks noble89 you've answered a question I thought about when Draenei came to the game.
I was just about to go to bed...
To Bad, the bed has to wait.
Nobbel is a little extra sing-songy on that intro. I read the short story so I can’t blame him for being excited for this one.
I love that you used the avatar symbols for the elements in the thumbnail
I love the short story, Unbroken. It's the reason I main a draenei shaman 😄 (so in legion having him being an errand boy in the class hall was a wtf moment for me). Great vid and thanks for telling this story Nobbel!!!
Lol, he got demoted so hard after the Cataclysm
Watching these videos is like watching fillers of a very cool anime.
19:16 Damn...I almost forgot they actually went 'there' in this story... then again its a common (yet deplorable and inexcusable) occurrence during war...especially when occupying an opposing civilian area.
One of the best stories in Warcraft
Nobundo's backstory is one of my favourites.
Wow. Drenai are my favorite race except for elves. It is interesting to learn about thier orgion story and voyages. In more recent times, I learned about the cosmology. There are six major elements. There is nature, holy, fire, death, shadow and arcane. Arcane and fire are polar opposites. They are places on opposite sides of the cosmology. So since they are opposite, they would be enemies. This gives a lot of context to orgion stories for both Drenei and orcs. The demons are associated with the fire element. as well as chaos. They started out being just an unstructured mass. The titans on the other hand are associated with the arcane element, as well as order. They are the deities that formed the universe of Warcraft. Since the titans and the demons are opposites, they are enemies. One of the Titans was Sargaras. He tried fighting against the demons, but he was currupted by them instead. Then he lead the demons and called it the buring legion. Sargaras curupted Archamond and Kil Jaden of the drenei. He also currupted Guldan of the orcs. Sargaras does show the conflict of the fire and arcane pair. Fortunatly Velen helped the drenai escape. They eventually crash in Azaroth and the drenai starting quest moves from here. Nobundo is a new character for me. I find his story deeply moving.
So undead can use the light but broken draenei can't?
Yes, because thats the significance of being "broken". Undead on the other hand are just affected differently than the living.
I actually hate that , because isn't *The Light* Allegroy for God in the Warcraft universe ? The lights like : "yeah yall are ugly now , so I don't want anything too do with you" that beyond messed up and truly makes no sense
Thank you for making a video on one of my favorite characters! One of my biggest wishes is to get the broken (especially the updated models from Argus) as an allied race but I dont think it's going to happen. Still love Nobundo tho!
As long as they get all 6 dragon balls they can just wish everyone back.
DUDE! When i was first reading the novel... i was crying when i read about the things orcs did when they invaded shattrath city =(
So, I might have forgotten that this guy existed.
If you've ever got time to binge, put him right on your list of things to do/watch. Hours. And hours. And hours. You'll never forget him again, but it'll be fine, I promise
@@MissDanaSophia I was talking about Nobundo specifically.
Anyone else initially read it as Nintendo at a glance and think Nobbel was branching out again like when he lets played Legend of Zelda?
Red mist - exists
Nobundo finds this no bueno
Are dranei feeding their souls to the light once they die? That’s what auchindoun seems like it was plus nobundo wondering what would happen to his soul now that the light left him.
I write a story about the Draenei visiting a world of nature magic before Draenor, and as a result, their Naaruu get enough rest for a safe landing and their people learn Shamanism hundreds of years sooner.
What are the odds that I just looked him up and saw this vid
Never been first before. Always enjoy your vids good sir. Draenai for the win!
In all seriousness though Nabundo is a hell of a Draenai/Broken. To remain strong through his hardship. Hes stronger than any of the Draenai that did him wrong.
Hi nobble, always a pleasure.
You left out the part how the elements were responsible for clearing the mental fog which eventually would drive all broken into becoming lost ones.
Hey @nobbel87, from which novel can I read the story of Nobundo? Specially that part when he faced Grommash. Thx!
Here you go: worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/story/short-story/unbroken
Was that shot of Terrok in HotS a fan made creation?
oh boy, gonna be a nice one
Can you do akama lore?
A new bedtime story
100th comment! Love your stories! Keep em comen!
What’s with the Guldan footage?
Gondar and the Dark seer from Dota1 were Lost ones but they did pretty well when u played them didn't seem they struggle to use they'r brains at all :D
Yay another nobbel video! 😍
Well, he lost Hearth Bubble, but gained totems and the power of the elements.
Is that a good trade or not?
I know its sethe but ive always pronounced it as seethe. Just sounds and feels better
I wish Shadowlands gave draenei Broken customization.
They have be an Allied race, Broken can't have gift of the Naaru
Priest and Paladin should be locked from them in favor of Rogue and Lock
I have a question, what do you think each WOW race would do to deal with covid?
Woop! I hope these guys become an allied race.
Anyone else wish they could play broken draenei?
That’s Maradad
Poor draenei
Im sorry nobbel.
But nobundo is an imposter...
Farseer kakio is the Only farseer on azeroth!
And draenor ofc
Shaffraff...
Small tweak. Since it's a disease it's biological warfare, and not chemical warfare. Otherwise awesome as always.
Can you please explain the difference between biological and chemical warfare?😀
@@shadowgamer4306 It's pretty easy.
Biological implies that biological components are used such as the creation of manmade viruses to weaken down societies. Examples include militaries tossing their dead over enemy lines in the hopes to spread and cause various infections. Other variants also include taking advantage of diseases in general for war, profit, scientific progression.
Chemical implies chemical components, such as metals, acids and anything that can be made to cause harm like Agent Orange.
However, there can be components of both within something, in which case the red pox was originally designed for biological warfare but was altered via chemicals (fel magic) later on to inflict damage on the Draenei.
@@LDaemontus Thanks for the clarifications!👍
damn im early for once lol
Hihi
Just wanted to say nobbel that i've always loved your videos but with the recent characters in charge of the WoW lore team i no longer feel any interest in the story of Warcraft, they really kind of killed the one thing that kept me coming back to wow
E
please nobbel, learn how to say shattrath, its not shaffraff :p
I want playable broken so bad
Would probably be my favorite alliance race (majority of characters are horde). I can’t emotionally connect with near flawless heroes and paragons of goodness. I’ve tried self esteem too poor lol
@@BottledDelusion If you’d like to make an alliance character the best option would probably be void elf or worgen as they’re more morally grey than the other races
@@heymynamesaidan7918 already have them I play every race and class. (Have 80+ characters across 2 accounts. I’m disabled got time to fill). Really not my thing though dark edgy characters are always bottom of my list of favorites. I like things more like shaman druids monks etc. Most of my horde characters are pro peace
