Another reason why Lor'themar wouldn't find allies within the Alliance were the exiles who still call themselves high elves. It was they who warned Stormwind and Ironforge about Kael'thas alliance with Illidan and the Blood Elves habit of draining magic from living beings, and the humans were disgusted. The dwarves sent spies to the Eversong Woods and the night elves sent a small army to the Ghostlands, making it more difficult for the blood elves to retake the land from the Scourge. It was clear to Lor'themar that the Alliance were no longer friends, so he had all the more reason to join the Horde.

Nope, Was blizzard who sent spies and nelf warriors to make a motive to give the horde a nice race because in the Classic the horde had so few people
@@itsjustaline Back when the Blood Elves were first introduced they had two racial spells. One was a mana drain that built charges. You used these charges to then use arcane torrent which was just an aoe silence. A group of blood elves could fully drain any spellcaster in PvP back then.

Lor'themar is one of those characters whom I suspected didn't even have enough backstory to make a lore video out of. I've always wanted to know more about him (and I wish he'd play a more active role in the game) but I feel you have to dig deep to find any history about him, so thank you for consolidating it here, I'm looking forward to the rest of this series!

Well, depending on when in the story this is, he did set his -2- eyes on the sunwell.
The one on his face to see, the other in their behind to, in Blizzards' words, "corrupt" the Sunwell. And he had Zandalari Tacos that day.

lor'themar and liadrin's are two with some of the best character back stories (tied in with quel'thelas' amazing lore too) i wasn't too keen on the gaudy belf aesthetics at first but their stories warmed me up to them so much. Beyond the good old WoW cliches like corruption by power, we--through lor'themar and liadrin--see both the resilience of a besieged people AND an active redemption journey that examines a very personal and realistic struggle with faith.
Wooo finally hear some more about Lor'themar. He's been a favorite character of mine since BC, just the whole look and aspect of him, being thrusted into leadership with kael leaving. I hope he gets more screentime and love here in BFA
I hope you played MoP because he was given a decent amount of screen time there.

Just means you started playing the game as a blood elf in TBC blood elf mage Kael'thas is more bad ass but because the writers play alliance they wanted to kill him off as a raid boss lol.

This is a random thought, but thinking about illidans imprisonment of "10,000 years" yada yada... Doesnt that make the burning of teldrassil hit you alittle harder nobbel? i mean I feel like lore implies that elves do not really die of old age, and that the elves that died at the burning couldve been thousands of years old. For me, i feel like this kind of huge fact is glossed over. i understand that genocide is genocide, but knowing that elves rarely reproduce and that the people that were killed were centuries old... thats crazy

They haven't really gotten much of a say in anything.
Well there should be about a thousand of them left after the Third War and Burning Crusade, if we are generous
They are crack heads. Nobody takes a crack addict serious.
It's not like they are deeply involved in much militarily either, they treat the Horde the way they did the Alliance, really, provide enough aid not to be considered token, but keeping tgeir relative distance, at least until BfA brought the War again to their doorstep.
Sylvanas pretty much forced them to take an active role again, and the reforms to how Horde leadership works now, should keep them a little more involved.

The first few times I did Vol'jin's death scene, Lor'themar would always load in as "Unknown" while every other NPC would load in with their name. I always found it quite comical.

I'm not a big fan of blood elves, but Lor'themar is great. I say he's the best character Horde has left.

Aye it's from a story called Blood of the Highborne. I'm not sure if it's available online, but it comes from a collection called 'World of Warcraft - Paragons'

Are you worried that the writers are forgetting all of the shitty things that the Alliance has done (like they've done to Lor'themar/BElves) and are setting Sylvanas up as a new Garrosh? Or do you think we'll be pleasantly surprised like in Legion where Illidan rejects their "redemption" because he was right the whole time?

You clearly never played warcraft3 those wells were used to heal and gain mana for your army in warcraft 3 you controlled a entire army so clearly it could not be a single person view like in wow.

I am talking about the visuals. In canon lore (and in WoW) the Sunwell is this massive pool of pure energy. It's contained within this huge, ornate structure on an island of the coast of Silvermoon. Getting there requires a journey by boat, and you then have to pass a lot of guards to get there, seeing as it's the most holy place for the High/Blood Elves.
In WC3 it's an average sized fountain on a public square. A fountain that glows a little bit.
There is a part in the Arthas book where Arthas uses Frostmourne to freeze the waters allowing is army to march across (essentially he uses Path of Frost). That sounds epic. But in WC3, none of that is necessary. It's just there, in the open. Being a fountain.

Always wondered about this part if the story. Was never really brought to light as much as the rest of the story.
I still say Kael'thas should have remained the faction leader and not turned into a raid boss. I mean, think of all the extra drama with Jaina and Illidan if he was still there?!

I know this constructive criticism will probably be overlooked, but you really overuse phrases like " , they" and ", he." You don't need to say, "Lor'themar, he took up his sword." You can just say "Lor'themar took up his sword." Doing it once in a while for dramatic effect is okay, but you use that phrasing in nearly every sentence, and even insert it when quoting official sources. Obviously you're getting lots of views and don't need my advice, but if I were grading your scripts I'd be putting a red line through every last one of those.
I absolutely adore your videos, but I do wish you'd speak slower. Your accent is attractive and lovely, but it's so hard to understand you when you go so quickly without subtitles. You obviously put a lot of work into everything you make and I've been watching your vids for a long time...but my poor dumb brain can't keep up half the time. T.T
Ooh! I like blood elves and elves in general. I watched the Kaelthas video yesterday. Now I watch the Lorthamar videos. I enjoy it so far. Lorthamar has lived through a lot of blood elf history. He fight against trolls. He fought against Scourge. He was around during the explosion of the Sunwell. Now I know Lorthamar has an eyepatch due to his encounter with the Scourge. I wonder whether he has a large scar on his belly due to his encounters with trolls. The Ghostland trolls are so mean and nasty. I would like to see more of what happens to Lorthemar. This guy is so cute just like blood elf dudes in general.

Heh, I'm sure the creators of this animation knew this just as well, but I can't help but point out that the elves from the encounter with zuljin likely didn't have glowing green eyes at the time. Probably blue/white actually.
You guys need some Jamaican and West African friends for troll voices. At least it was better than Metzen's in WC3

I have no idea who the voice actor is but it was pretty bad. Fake troll accent that was not believable. The words were not pronounced like a troll would pronounce it all he did was try to add a Patois accent to it.

I've been binging every blood elf related video of yours that I could in hype for the heritage armor and I am very happy to see that one has been made of Lorthemar as I was just wondering about him.

The elves see to always put up with a lot of crap most of the time, they seem to be the one race to never catch a break.

I really wouldn't pity the elves in Warcraft. The legion is only there because of the elves which means that all demon related things that happen there were ultimately started by the elves.
Blood elves built on top of ruins instead of the miles of surrounding forests.
Blood elves sought for more magic instead of means of whingeing it off(like the night elves have).
Night elves betrayed and imprisoned Illidan despite him causing them to be given IMMORTALITY and fighting off the legion multiple times on there side while showing 0 intent of betrayal of them if they even remotely payed attention.
I can list more but effectively nearly everything bad that happens to them was CAUSED BY THEM(Malfurion is responsible for the emerald nightmare being a thing too).

@@Warcrafter4 technically, Fandral was responsible for the Emerald Nightmare, as he was the one who planted Vordrassil in Northrend (near Yogg'Saron's prison), and had the roots grow deep enough that Yogg'Saron could access it's energy and use it to get into the Emerald Dream and corrupt it.

At the time Arthas* merged with Ner'zhul the Scourge was severely weakened in both Lordaeron (due to the Nathrezim and Sylvanas' rebellion) and Northrend (after fighting Illidan). The years the Lich King spent dormant afterwards he gathered strength and troops mainly in Icecrown, with Kel'thuzad launching the only real offensive campaign with Naxxramas and otherwise holding their ground in the Plaguelands, Ghostlands and smaller bases like Razorfen.
Riley Rivalle so at that time the scourge army was growing while the Lich was getting strength back then, then why do I feel like his army should’ve been a lot bigger? Or I’m over thinking it.
@Nobbel87, so on legion when i did DK class campaign, it felt like Dks are not rly part of aliance or horde, like when we had to break i think koltira out of prisonment and there they said something like the fractions dont rly accept us, so the question is are we part of aliance or horde, it seems to me like iam part of ebon blade and iam helping aliance

Lor'themar; The Alliance cannot be trusted after that one racist sentenced Kael'thas to die! (Said racist being Garithos, the leader of the remnants of the old Lordaeron Alliance, so not really what we have today.) Screw old bonds, humans will never change!
Also Lor'themar; Orcs, trolls and undead have all invaded our lands. But these dudes are different and has changed or so I heard, so let's just join them without further adieu.

I remember in cataclysm, lor'themar had a voice line that said "As regent lord of kael'thalas" funniest shit ever. His voice actor was quite blood elfy too. The one we got now sounds abit more... manly.

So happy you did Lor'themar, I've been hoping you would as I've watched the other Blood Elf lore ones you've done and really wanted to see one specifically about Lor'themar (even if a lot of it is covered in other videos to a point). I'm hoping there will be more Blood Elf lore in the near future as well, since Lor'themar doesn't seem to do much these days...
