Interesting little tid bit is that the horn that Dayan is holding, which powers alex, is from 1.0. We acquired it during the main story of 1.0 for Travanchet who turned out to be possessed by an ascian. During that 1.0 story arc it was going to be used by the ascian to cause another calamity by summoning two serpeants which would cause a realm wide flood, but instead Travanchet (Same character model/name from 1.0) gave the horn to the original people who summoned alex. Its not clear why it was given to them however, but interesting to see if it is part of some master plan that will be fulfilled later.
Yeah I really wanted to pay attention since it revisits some other FF games and it seemed really interesting. But I was in such a rush to unlock the Bozjan front that I just skipped everything
Thank you for this. I was forced to rush through Alexander with some fc mates and was not able to afford the story the attention it needed. I’ve been meaning to new game + it but I’ve not had the time.
Something I think is interesting is that the Original Alexander had the power of true time travel were all changes where always meant to happen ,however The Tycoon is likely due to the nature of the world after the 8th umbral calamity is incapable of this. Instead creating a parallel time diversion as covered in the Tales from the Shadows. In it Biggs third of his name sees G’raha off and wonders what will happen to them after he leaves would they cease to exist? would they even remember these events? It turned out their world did not change and instead the created a separate timeline where the WoL survived. In their shattered world Midgarsmor awoke from his slumber recognizing that the Ironworks did all the could to save a world they would never see ,and became their custodian watching over them as they lived out their lives in the aftermath of the 8th umbral calamity.
You know its kind of interesting? Alexander is one of the few Primals who don't want to exist because he recognizes the danger. (Ramuh and Shiva are the other two 'good' if you will, of the Primals, by that point.) But what's interesting is that Ramuh, unwilling as it may have been, turned the Sylphs who summoned him. One can believe that Shiva turned her followers whenever she transformed 'into' Shiva. But Alexander never turned anyone. The Gobbies were always of their own mind. Even RoundRox was of her own mind when she came and went. So how did Alexander manage to stop himself from causing something that should have naturally happened just by existing?
Lore deep-dive trivia, the horn in question that powered Alexander is one of several, all with the same ability to draw in and hold untold amounts of aether... The staff of Archon Louisoix carried another of these horns on it's tip, that is what gave it such great power.
I'm gonna throw out my crack theory here - Alexander is the most powerful primal and will be integral to resolving the Hydaelyn-Zodiark story arc in Endwalker. The Alexander raids will become required content like the Crystal Tower 24-mans did.
The ending with all the closing time loops, especially the final one with the founding of the Au Ra tribe, really paid off what was a pretty lackluster story until the final tier. I still enjoy Alexander's story overall the most for the raid series.
Now that is how you do time travel and alternate dimensions in a game story, holy crap. Alexander is my favorite raid in the game and now probably my favorite story. I regret skipping through the story cutscenes for Alexander when I initially did it now.
would really love something like this for Omega as well. I skimmed through bc I was playign catch up after a long break before SHB so Im pretty confused about some of the stuff there, Same with Eureka tbh
Thanks for this, i skipped all cutscenes when i first played it just to get into the raid i didn't think the story was gonna be important in the future till i watched the Endwalker live letter where the writer said she recommends going back and doing the Bahamut, alexander and omega raids
Nice recap! Omega and Coils would also be a good idea as we were advised that we should all go back and do them again before Endwalker ( if you're not already planning on doing them! ) Other than those I'd love to see a Eureka story recap from you Haps!
I'm not sure the Aura's name is pronounce "Mide" like hide. I always thought since Aura can have Japanese sounding names that her name was pronounced "Me-dey". That's how a name like Mide would be pronounced there. *shrug* What a crazy amount of detail they put into the story in this game. Love it.
I am slowly but surely making my way through the MSQ via NG+. I have not touched that content since 2013. I have only gone through the MSQ ONCE, and being that Endwalker is the conclusion to what amounts to a decade-old saga, I figured I'd... get a refresher. I'm really enjoying my time with it. I have read a good chunk of the lore books, and going through the story with the lens of both hindsight and knowledge of the world makes for an interesting experience. That said, my time is somewhat limited, so I am not sure I'll be able to get through all the MSQ-adjacent content such as 8 and 24-man raids and whatnot... Which is why this recap comes just in time!
I totally missed some of the ShB stuff. I was thinking Black Rose wasn't fully resolved and I thought the "flashback" with Biggs III was kinda random and unexplained. It either could have been told better, or I'm a little dense, either way it's pretty cool. Thanks for the recap.
I see a paradox in the events of Alexander’s creation, Alexander’s creation is inspired the codex which is inspired by the Alexander which time travelled to the past, so how was Alexander a thing in the first place ? Is this just an egg first or chicken first question that have no answers at all ? I am so confused
Such is the nature of time travel and their loops - their existence tends to be paradoxical, and often defy the idea of a "beginning" or true "end" by virtue of simply existing. Otherwise, there's not likely any answer that wouldn't give a massive headache trying to understand it.
Is the coil with bahamut a difficulty higher than hard? I haven’t done it yet plus I heard nael features in it and swing I missed them from the og game I deffo want to jump on that lore piece
Spoilers for SHB SO THAT'S HOW THE TOWER GETS TO THE FIRST IS CAUSE OF ALEXANDER THATS SO COOL!!! I have yet to beat SHB but so far it's just been absoluting gripping and amazing. Cannot wait to start Endwalker especially with the release of Dawntrail looking to be released between July and September I got so much time.
While I appreciate the video, I personally found the Alexander story boring AF. Honestly, the only raid stories that have captivated me to any degree are Return to Ivalice and Eden...with Eden being WAY at the top because a lot of the Return to Ivalice stuff felt just marginally better than Omega to me. The start of the resistance storyline was also pretty darn cool but quickly lost my interest when they tried to get me to engage in grindy content. I know some people love these sorts of grinds in games but I personally can't stand them and would much rather play a different game or even replay the story on a different JOB for a new experience.

Fun tidbit; In the german translation the cat is called Schrödinger
they
reverse
engineered
a god
garlond is a mad lad
I really hope you do one of these for Return to Ivalice, I did not pay attention to it at all.
Yeah I really wanted to pay attention since it revisits some other FF games and it seemed really interesting. But I was in such a rush to unlock the Bozjan front that I just skipped everything
Splendid. Absolutely splendid. I've told this story to countless friends before, but you've told it better than I ever could.
Thank you for this. I was forced to rush through Alexander with some fc mates and was not able to afford the story the attention it needed. I’ve been meaning to new game + it but I’ve not had the time.

Alexander fight is the best hands down integration of story and battle the game has. Need more things like that.
yes do more recap pls.. im now at the stage of forgetting some of the storylines of past content
I missed a lot of the detail in my first run-through of the content, so this video is a great help. I look forward to the other recap videos!

this is amazing haps, great work, now we need omega or even coil
He already did coil
Locking two lovers in a single moment... I know it is probably just coincidence but that's what Mitron tried to do at the end of the Eden series.
Lore deep-dive trivia, the horn in question that powered Alexander is one of several, all with the same ability to draw in and hold untold amounts of aether...
The staff of Archon Louisoix carried another of these horns on it's tip, that is what gave it such great power.
20:52 "I have to go back and look back and then go foward to" Shall i recall a certain song from alexander self?
This was amazing it’s hard for me to pay much attention so I’m glad this is here

I don't think they'll become required content, considering the "important" bit was the Twining dungeon.
Lmao nah
@@knightgallade8431 In a _sense_...
So how do you feel after playing Endwalker
@@Skdjefkrkfnfne Only like kinda right. It turns out Alexandrian time travel did kinda matter but also nah lmao
This was a lot of fun to see. One of your best vids in awhile (imo). Great Job and thank you!
The ending with all the closing time loops, especially the final one with the founding of the Au Ra tribe, really paid off what was a pretty lackluster story until the final tier. I still enjoy Alexander's story overall the most for the raid series.
thanks for the recap happy. I really appreciate it

would love more stuff like this! refreshers are always nice
I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time!!
would really love something like this for Omega as well. I skimmed through bc I was playign catch up after a long break before SHB so Im pretty confused about some of the stuff there, Same with Eureka tbh
I always wished for a video like this. Rushed the Alexander Story and never tryed it afterwards.
Thank you. :)
You might be on to something since the Endwalker Launch Trailer starts with Emet Selch talking about an unknown and unpredictable future.
Thanks for this, i skipped all cutscenes when i first played it just to get into the raid i didn't think the story was gonna be important in the future till i watched the Endwalker live letter where the writer said she recommends going back and doing the Bahamut, alexander and omega raids

15:43 reminds me a lot of Meteion and all the worlds she saw.
I'm not sure the Aura's name is pronounce "Mide" like hide. I always thought since Aura can have Japanese sounding names that her name was pronounced "Me-dey". That's how a name like Mide would be pronounced there. *shrug*

This was an amazing video Haps - would love more in future on the other raid tiers. Keep up the good work and keep safe

i hope these raids comes back as unreal savage or something it was such memories.
Oh definitely unreal. Count on it
Timey wimey stuff I did YEARS ago so thank you Mr. Happy for this gide
Good stuff! All the scenes i skipped now make sense.
I really like your Story recaps like you did for Alexander. Is there a chance we'll see other recaps?
I think the elezen that gives the horn to Milde is from 1.0
He is! And a lot of people think hes actually Fandaniel since Alexander would actually be a threat to all life.
Wow... Interesting, I never knew I would need this! Hahahaha
I totally missed some of the ShB stuff. I was thinking Black Rose wasn't fully resolved and I thought the "flashback" with Biggs III was kinda random and unexplained. It either could have been told better, or I'm a little dense, either way it's pretty cool. Thanks for the recap.
Nice story refresher! Are you going to do Omega as well?
Could you do one on the Warring triad?
Thank You
You should do more recaps...unless you're already canning on it then keep on keeping on🤙🏼
Seems like all that time travel talk started to break your brain at the end of the video.
Can you do Omega recap?
I'll stick to the ultimate fight, that's easier to process for my brain
Alexander will be forever the coolest shit
I love this game.

coils are like slightly below savage difficulty if you do it synched. If you just want the story I recommend unsynching it
Can you do this with the Omega series??
Doing this now, I am so confused.
Love this recap since it’s been years since i did it and it was a bit hard to follow for me 😅
I wish this video had subtitles working :/
Forward and back and forward and back
i got the first 4 raids done then 1hr of waiting nothing really wanted to do this story in game OH well ill watch this then move on to next expansion
Its crazy because the community considers Midas one of the best raid series the game has ever produced but the queue times were impossibly long
Forgot how fucken complicated Alexander is lol
Spoilers for SHB

so basically... Dark
Hmmm, methinks Alexander will come back somehow in 6.0
Oh man this takes me back
I joined in heavensward and wasn’t aware of how good side story were so I skipped Alex’s story
Thanks for the story!
I always thought her name was supposed to be pronounced me-deh, huh
O.- lets do another one ( when i say we I mean you) lol
isnt this how we got into ShB? erm yknow if you yknow?
My brain hurts
Okay... What the fuck!?
Myde?
am i wrong for not reading anything XD
I’m waiting for Asmongold’s play through it’s gonna be lit
