    Wild that they play a song like Heaving Earth LAST after an insane set

    Pete's drumming on this album must've blown people away when this record in particular came out. Even with guys like Derek Roddy, George Kollias, Dave Suzuki, etc around now, I listen to this and am still like... damn.

      Not only was the drumming awesome, but the production of the drums is still my favorite of all time (in death metal)

    It makes me cry that these guys don't do any of the Formulas material besides Bil Ur Sag anymore.... this was the absolute height of Morbid Angel. Psychedelic brutality of the squiggliest kind.

      Maybe because Vincent simply CAN'T play these songs. Which is a shame that's my fav album too.

      After Dave got kicked out,when they were touring with Suffocation they played this. I moshed on a broken shoulder hard as I could. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug!

    In my high school days, when I was listening to this song with my earphones at my classroom, a class mate of female approached and asked me "what are you listening to?".
    I just passed my music player to her and let her listen to it, then she said
    So disgusting !
    This song always reminds me of this story haha
    But this song is definitely a death metal master piece

      OmniscientVirtuosity You make a very good point. The thing that I find to be really funny is that most people view this kind of music to be nothing but "noise". Very few people realize the raw talent it takes to play this music they have labeled as talentless noise. But hey... I guess not just anyone can be bruno mars. MORBID ANGEL - Otherworldly indeed!

    • @nuclearwinterrec
      @nuclearwinterrec 9 років тому

      +OmniscientVirtuosity actually it's just a high note with lots of delay. His harmonizer is not engaged at all in this solo.

    I wonder the same thing! Flo Mounier is a highly praised drummer and he was releasing albums with Cryptopsy by this album came and what Pete was doing on this album was beyond his skills at the time. Granted they're two different drummers with two different styles, but still. Covenant of Death has some fast as fuck blasting.

    • @6.thedollar415
      @6.thedollar415 3 роки тому +2

      pete only blasted at a max of 260 on ffttf and flo was going 300+ easy by 1998 along with being far more technically proficient than pete

    • @joshpelton8068
      @joshpelton8068 5 місяців тому +1

      @@6.thedollar415 yeah? Well technique isn't everything and without Pete this flo probably wouldn't have been playing death metal.

    • @6.thedollar415
      @6.thedollar415 5 місяців тому

      @@joshpelton8068 the commenter said he was beyond Flo's abilities, which just isn't true. I will say Pete is a more precise drummer than Flo is, but Flo had outdone anything Pete ever did before or since by the time the first Cryptopsy album came out in 1994.

    • @joshpelton8068
      @joshpelton8068 5 місяців тому

      @@6.thedollar415 thanks for sharing your opinion. I find cryptopsy to be just this side of unlistenable. I don't like any death metal that is more extreme than Morbid angel or Deicide . When the emphasis went to being just speed and technique I felt the groove was lost.

    • @6.thedollar415
      @6.thedollar415 5 місяців тому

      @@joshpelton8068 it's not even an opinion. Flo IS faster and more technical than Sandoval, and Sandoval IS more precise. My *opinion* is that Flo is better overall, as I do enjoy Cryptopsy, but Pete shouldn't be discredited for being slower or less technical as he is (objectively) more influential than Flo, and had an album five years earlier.

    Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is a massive improvement with a fatal failure that will cause it to not lead anywhere, this album shows guitarist Trey Azagthoth experimenting with previously unknown "studied" modes and scales in his solos and the development of a progressive heavy metal instinct in this band now that, through member changes and necessary administrative/public relations tasks, Azagthoth has become the decision-maker and his initial short list of targets is reduced.

    O my god am I the first person to even comment on this video? WTF??? I don't get why nobody seems to care for fftf... I think this is just as good as any album they have!!! Different yes... But just as good... Did the singer miss a verse near the beginning of the song? I don't care this video rocks and Trey nailed his solo which don't happen too often either... Not that he ever does bad he just improvises and plays something not like the album but still great and in key a lot of the time...
