Potential causes of an ulcer: • Stress • Nutritional deficiencies • H. pylori • NSAIDs The most common medication for ulcers is Prilosec. This medication works by stopping the acid production in your stomach. While Prilosec can help people with ulcers, it comes with side effects. Potential side effects of Prilosec: • Vomiting • Gas • Nausea • Headaches • Abdominal pain • Increased risk of dementia • Increased risk of C. diff • Increased risk of pneumonia • Increased risk of bone fractures • Increased risk of kidney inflammation • Increased risk of polyps Cabbage can potentially put H. pylori in remission or kill H. pylori. However, if you cook cabbage for too long, you will kill the beneficial compounds. It's best to consume raw cabbage, cabbage juice, steamed cabbage, or fermented cabbage for ulcers. Thank you Dr Berg!!

Dr. Berg. I watch your videos everyday & I never comment but I just have to this one time. I follow a keto & IF diet (most of the time). I have an ulcer. It used to be so bad that I would be uncomfortable with pain all the time. I try to eat one meal a day & I always eat a salad (amongst other things, protein etc…) The salad I eat is almost always a cabbage salad. Green cabbage & red cabbage. A while back I noticed my ulcer is nowhere near as painful as it used to be. In fact I would say it’s probably healed half way up. I thought it was attributed to the keto/IF/OMAD lifestyle. But now I’m started to think maybe it was the cabbage! So I’m trying to say. That this is true. Eating cabbage on a regular basis, organic cabbage, will in fact help heal an ulcer! (I’ve also lost heaps of weight & feel better) 👍☺️👌
Yes it happened to me too. I saw this video right after my second visit to my digestion doctor for potential ulcer that i think i have (sorry for my broken english)
The beneficial sauerkraut is the variety that's kept refrigerated at the store since it hasn't been pasteurized so the beneficial bacteria cultures are still active. The sauerkraut you find on the shelf has been pasteurized and has, therefore, lost most of its benefits, including losing the sulfur compounds that kill the ulcer-causing bacteria as mentioned in this video, due to the heat used in the pasteurization process.

When I had gastritis drinking cabbage juice made me feel worse. More pain when I drink cabbage juice. What helped me was glutamine pills and GI sustain powder from Metagenics. When I took PPI’s I suffered neurological damage which caused my sleep function to be disabled for a month. Eventually sleeping pills helped together with benzodiazepines. My brain felt inflamed and burning and sometimes bled through my nose. I used to vomit blood (like coffee grounds) . Doctors minimised and invalidated my suffering by just giving me antidepressants (never helped me sleep) and sending me to psychologists who just kept telling me that I’m stressed. I had nothing to stress over. I was living my best life but people kept talking about stress and I never received medical recognition appropriately. Two years of torture and I eventually found a doctor who recognized that the PPI’s damaged my brain together with taking antidepressants which further almost killed me. She injected me with a neurological injections of folinic , glutathione and magnesium. I started healing. I suffer now from PTSD and apathy from the torture that doctors and psychologists inflicted on me.
Holy shit. Thanks for sharing your story. Cabbage juice is tricky because it causes lots of bloating and if you don’t take lots of gas x throughout the day (at least 3/day) it’s hard to drink the juice daily. If not multiple times. I hope you continue your healing journey!!

Honestly, this is very true. I had my first experience with Duodenal ulcer back in 2020 and I took raw cabbage juice with a little mix of garlic juice for almost two weeks. Since then I haven't had any of such ulcer and it's killing pains come back till date.
In my experience Cabbage juice is good, but don't consume sauerkraut if u have ulcer because it's really acidic and will "burn" ur wound(ulcer) even more, that's why ACV is not recommended aswell if u have ulcer.
True, I had h.pylori gastritis a couple of times over the years. Last year i had it again, went for 2 rounds of antibiotics, didnt feel better. That i went for fermented cabbage juice and all of the symptoms resolved in a couple of days it was like a miracle! Couple of weeks ago my stomach started hurting again and i had acid reflux. I made my fermented cabbage juice and in a day i felt 1000 times better. It is amazing!!!
@@kingjaffri87 you make cabbage juice and leave it one day at room temperature (for good bacteria to multiply) and then you put it in refrigerator and you can use it a couple of days. The taste is very bad, but it is very helpful. You can make cabbage juice if you have juicer machine, or you can chop the cabbage in small pieces and pour the water over it and leave it like that. I put it in a jar.
@@_smithta well it does not really matter, because majority of people have it inside the stomach in small numbers and it does not make any problems. When balance in stomach is disturbed (too much acid, lesions, viral infections, when protective barrier inside the stomach is broken) than h.pylori uses its chance and multiplies in large numbers and then we have symptoms and that make us ill. So the point is to keep it under control. If you are more sensitive to this, than you can expect that you will probably have the symptoms again in life, when your stomach balans become disturbed again.

I reversed my ulcer by using slippery elm. I get it from the HF store, in bulk (sometimes only capsules are available) like making tea, into a mug of hot water (or broth) I scoop a heaping spoonful of the powdered herb & stir till disolved. Helpful for sore throats & IBS also. The slippery elm becomes a shield coating protecting the ulcer from constantly encountering more damage and this, in turn, allows time & room for the effected area to actually heal. Btw fun fact history edition; Slippery elm had a hand in the union winning the US civil war- a battalion of union troops were surrounded by confederates who were blockading any supplies from reaching the trapped men. The union guys found an abundance of naturally growing slippery elm & lived off of it throughout the seige. After days of no movement, Confederates assumed everyone was starved dead or extremely weak, needless to say it was a trap & the confederates walked right into it.

Like clockwork, my Dad (75y.o. and still working) has had ulcer bleeding for the past 3 Springs 2020-2022. His hemoglobin drops to 9.6 and lower. The first time this happened he ended up in the hospital with a 6.6 hemoglobin! After several blood transfusions, the doctors at the hospital performed scopes and found several ulcers, but nothing was done to prevent them other than putting him on “bandaids”. Since that 10-day hospital visit, I started learning about the benefits of cayenne. The next year, it happened again. This time I had cayenne tincture in my medicine cabinet (I made myself using habaneros). I gave him cayenne tincture….probably 4 Tablespoons! HOT! That night rather than running to the hospital, he wanted to sleep in his own bed. The next morning I gave him more cayenne, and he went to the hospital. They ran a scope and said they couldn’t explain it, but the bleeding had stopped - on it’s own. They asked what he did….He told them about the cayenne tincture , but that answer was dismissed….that can’t be the reason for the bleeding to stop. This Spring 2022, here we go again. You would think he would learn to tell me right away, but he waited a month. He went in for blood test and his hemoglobin was down to 9.6. Right away I started him on my cayenne tincture . I also made a recipe for potassium broth using beets, onions, garlic, celery and hot peppers. The doctor wanted to wait a week for another blood test at which point his hemoglobin was beginning to rise. The doctor(s) couldn’t explain why the bleeding stopped and his hemoglobin levels started to improve. My Dad is not a fan of the cayenne, but I add a bit of honey to it and warm water in a shot glass every morning. He is doing a lot better! I will be going with him to his doctor appointment to discuss the home remedies compared to the physician prescribed pharmaceutical solutions.
Such well done for your work with your father. I just find hard to deal with the idea that so many bright people have been molded to act like ignorant criminals and that a huge amount of people are being so effect of this situation. Don’t expect too much from the doctor! They are not trained to think or operate in natural remedies! And are in fact very close minded to it most times because they know best. Or, they think they do. Glad to hear you’re helping out your father so much :)

Thank you so much for making this video... I was diagnosed last March with h pylori while in college. They told me it would get worse if I didn't take two weeks of the antibiotics & ppi, and at the time I didn't know what else to do, I certainly didn't want it to get worse... so I took it, and suffered through that.. and I still regret it 100%. I am ashamed to tell this story. 1953, every morning, as a teenager I went for a walk to deliver newspapers for 4 years. Occasionally I had a hangover caused by drinking too much moonshine. I always carried Standback (a powder for headache) in my wallet. I would take it when needed without water. Later, it resulted in stomach pains. Doctor found with x-rays an ulcer. the only treatment was a strict diet of milk and crackers to coat the stomach for 6 weeks, then only very lite diet like soups. 1957, At age 17, I went into the Air Force, I was still being treated for the ulcer, but failed to tell the Air Force.
I am also amazed; I give a lot of credit to 4 years of walking (approx. 50 miles/week) while carrying the heavy load of newspapers, then in the end running home to catch the school bus at 7:15

The best way to heal any kind of gut issues is with a diet of high fibre, diversified foods. I read ‘Fibre Fuelled’ by Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, followed his instruction, and my gastritis and esophagitis symptoms were gone in about 2 weeks. Very few doctors know what foods you really need to put in your body to cure these gut issues, which is why they predominantly advise taking meds and cutting down on certain things (alcohol, fried foods), as opposed to feeding your gut microbiome with the types of dietary fibre it needs. Eat as many different types of plants/fruits/seeds/nuts/beans as you can and your gut will heal. It took me 2 weeks. Best of luck!

This is a beautiful testimony. Thanks.
Potential causes of an ulcer:
• Stress
• Nutritional deficiencies
• H. pylori
• NSAIDs
The most common medication for ulcers is Prilosec. This medication works by stopping the acid production in your stomach. While Prilosec can help people with ulcers, it comes with side effects.
Potential side effects of Prilosec:
• Vomiting
• Gas
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Abdominal pain
• Increased risk of dementia
• Increased risk of C. diff
• Increased risk of pneumonia
• Increased risk of bone fractures
• Increased risk of kidney inflammation
• Increased risk of polyps
Cabbage can potentially put H. pylori in remission or kill H. pylori. However, if you cook cabbage for too long, you will kill the beneficial compounds. It's best to consume raw cabbage, cabbage juice, steamed cabbage, or fermented cabbage for ulcers.

@@STANKEBG thanks a lot really appreciate it
@Stasha K Do you think H. Pylori ever really goes away? Or does it never go away?

I just find this horribly sad. Your father is so lucky to have you but what about all the other ones…
Don’t expect too much from the doctor! They are not trained to think or operate in natural remedies! And are in fact very close minded to it most times because they know best. Or, they think they do.
Glad to hear you’re helping out your father so much :)

@@mimig1000 also, be sure to only use nutritional yeast! And not cooking or regular yeast which really has no health benefits🥰👍🏻
Doctor, I hope you're in good health. Sorry, my English is not good. I watched your videos and get a lot of benefits from you. I think if you create another channel for Bangladeshi people which will be Bengali voiceover videos maybe we will get more benefit from you. Please help Bangladeshi people to make bengali voiceover videos.
Heard a lot about cabbage juice healing ulcers. Thanks for making this video Dr.

@@abdulmohammed7267how many days do you take this juice and mastic gum? Are you cured now?
Thank you.
Can you tell, how much in a day or week, will be normal to drink 1 cup of cabbage juice? When to drink? In the morning, before breakfast, or?
One cup a day is fine. Any time of the day is also fine.
Cabbage juice works like magic for ulcer, thanks Doc
Thank you Dr. Berg for the most educating rundown on cabbage.Your knowledge and skill level is very much appreciated.
Keep informing the people...
No problem. Glad to share this info.
Had it in college too. Pain folded me over.
I just read a great book by Herbert M Shelton called fasting can save your life. He specifically mentions ulcers and says you should fast. And of course when they go away you have to change your diet to a new a nutritional one. Otherwise they will just come back if you keep the same habits.
Spot on... 100% correct !!!!
For how long must I fast
Fasting for how long
Thanks Dr Berg. Can you do a video on other stomach issues next? Gastritis and IBS for example?
I think keto and intermittent fasting is a good start for pretty much anything.
@@BeaHindebars Plenty of anecdotes of gastritis getting worse from intermittent fasting.
I have Ulcerative Colitis , and stress triggers mine as well. Stress seems to be my biggest enemy.
@@IIETMII thank you! I do think some of these things vary by individuals. I have a friend who drank milk and it helped her stomach upset, while I'm lactose intolerant and it causes burning painful acid in my stomach. Same with things like plants and beans, they cause quite a lot of GI disturbance for me. I love fruit, bananas help, but only minimally and not during a flare up.
Thanks Dr you saved my life from ulcer
Funny that when I had bad ulcers and went to the doc, he told me to stay away from alot of foods including cabbage!
Thanx Dr Eric. I follow your videos and find them very useful
he didnt want u to get better, he would lose a customer
Everyone used to eat cabbage soup, it was a staple in restaurants. Older people ate it for their stomachs and the younger crowd to loose weight. So when it cooks does it destroy the compounds or just deposit them in the broth? Is cabbage soup still an option?
Yes, just don't over cook it. Only a few minutes.
Cabbage soup is a staple in my house. And I definitely cannot live without it. Delicious
Thank you Dr Berg, you are a source of light to this world. I pray your life is full of as much light as you share with us. Your videos always come right when I need them. Like you were sent from heaven. Thank you and I’m sending so much love to you. ❤️

I had almost constant belching, ulcer pain, and reflux keeping me awake coughing at night. I drank cabbage juice and the next day the belching and other symptoms stopped. I’m taking a big spoonful of manuka honey every day now too because a study showed it healed ulcers in rats.
Amen we thank God and Dr for his teaching
