Excellent, just like how my dad taught me! The only thing we don't adhere to, is the sugar. I will absolutely be making this for Christmas, and introduce it to my in-laws for the first time. Merry Christmas, Ms. Jehan!
It doesn't go in the fridge and it doesn't need water or sugar. As noted, that is a preference. I've been eating this (and making it for 40+ years - something my Granny passed down to my family) and I love it!!! Squeeze a little orange over it and eat with Platt Bread. So yummy!!
I live in Brazil and I had to make my own casareep! Pepperpot didn't come out too bad. I wasn't mad at all! Never had garlic pork though and I'm 50. I saw it once with what looked like fungus in the bottle and I refused to eat it since then!
Thank you so much for the up load of yourbeautiful recipe. This looks so easy, my grandmother teach me how to make this but totally different, it use to take us all afternoon 😅 to make garlic pork. "I de wa pla" We had to pound the garlic till it "bon ma i" 😆 🤣 . But those are time I would never get back so I appreciate it.
Thank you for this recipe. Does this work for Lamb too? My husband is Guyanese and I would like to surprise him with this meal. What do you usually eat with it? Any salad?
I have been following your recipes for a while and I really love the way you show and explain things! Do you have a recipe for hard bakes? At least that is what my family called them and they tasted like flats but were larger, baked or cooked in a frying pan and looked like a cake but tasted like bread. I would love to be able to make this for my family. All the best for 2021🙂
Hi thanks, and you for following along. It sounds like you're describing pot bakes. I don't have one up as yet but will soon but I do have a coconut bake that's similar on my website Jehancancook.com
I've only had it with beef and it's so good. I made it last week, since we couldn't travel home, and it was just like sitting in mom's house. I hope you enjoy!
I just love looking at your videos... I have a question concerning the pepperpot.. I live in France and it very difficult to find cassareep, what can I do to replace it? Thank you in advance for your answer ❤️❤️❤️
you can apply some cooking oil on medium heat, apply a pot spoon of sugar, and allow it to burn a little, until it have the color you want. then apply your meat into the pan
@@jehanpowell Great. I will definitely give it a try. I love all of your recipes. I’ve tried a bunch but my favorite was the chicken patties. Thank you so much for sharing.
I found an easy way to peel garlic. Soak the garlic in water with the skin on. Leave for 5-6mins or longer. Then remove from water and take off the skin. Easy easy.
Pepper pot and bread for Christmas! Garlic pork for boxing day. 😁
Love it!!
Other way around for me😂😂😂

Hi! Unfortunately I don't know of a substitute for cassareep.

@@ebanitourzecotouragency8225 thank you very much 🥰
Cassareep is not burnt sugar. The taste would be very different. It’s made from bitter cassava, I don’t think there is a substitute for it
Wow you drain the vinegar? I never knew😂😂❤️I use the vinegar as the cooking liquor. Thanks for the top Gigi❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
Yes I do! You're welcome.
Does it get brown by frying or do you need to add browning? I'm gonna do this for new years!
No browning, the color is from frying.
@@jehanpowell thanks for replying. Got it will follow suite!
It gets brown by frying.
I do not eat pork, can I do garlic lamb instead?
