Love garlic pork! You’re absolutely right. Both of my parents are Guyanese and we have had garlic pork for Christmas morning for as long as I can remember. Wouldn’t be Christmas without it!
The bits are the best part. I gather them up and mix it with the butter for my toast. Mmmm the burned garlic and peppers and thyme are so yummy as extra toppings!!
Candy hello this is a great pork recipe I've never seen this done before and it looks absolutely delicious thank you for sharing I'm always learning something new from you yummy and delicious 😋
Three things here one that pork looks good oh goodness , two we do bake chicken and bread Christmas morning because of my grandma and I still do it ,lol I love that red pot you have happy holidays to you and your family
Thank you Naddia. Baked chicken and bread sounds good. I'm not a fan of real breakfast food in the morning so baked chicken would be nice. Have a wonderful holiday yourself dear. Appreciate you stopping by. 😊
I tried this dish before and was disappointed but based on your ingredients, I'm willing to try again as I think the flavour will be more balanced. Thank you.
I know what you mean like I said in the video it's an acquired taste you have to get used to. But most importantly you have to flavor it to your preference. I hope it turns out better next time.
Hi Candy how did you wash the pork was it with water or vinegar cause yur recipe is new to me and it's more simple than the one am used to I will try yours and see how it will comes out
Woow Candy, my mouth spring wata. I tell u, there is no right or wrong way to cook our native meal, once it taste good at the end thats all that matter. I've never seen it cook the way u cook it, but regardless the outcome & taste still looks good. How u guh let me & fellow Guyanese down with no wiri-pep😉🙃, jk. Tfs ur stylin...
That's so true no right way to cook anything just cook to suit your self. I have not had wri wri peppers since I left guyana can't find it here in VA but thank you for always coming through with your kind compliments and support appreciate you. 🙏🏾 😊❤
I’ve never seen all spice added to garlic pork! I decided to try it myself & my garlic pork is now marinating with all spice… I told my mom and she’s worried that the all spice will ruin the recipe…. Do you think it’s a very distinct flavour?
Yes not a real guyanese 🤣🤣🤣 just messing, we welcome all. I’ll be making pepperpot, garlic pork and fresh bake bread this years for Christmas. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾💚💚💚
The ancestors from Madeira, Portugal (lots of descendants in Guyana) brought it to Guyana (variation is called garlic pork) and to Goa in India (variation is called vindaloo). The basics of the recipe are very similar to vinha d’alhos.

Hi Candy good morning how are you? I have a question can I used pork belly instead of pork shoulder. ❤ thanks ❤
Yes you can, you'll have more fat than meat tho so be aware of that.

It adds tatse to meat . I use it to cook beef and red beans soups.
Yes not a real guyanese 🤣🤣🤣 just messing, we welcome all. I’ll be making pepperpot, garlic pork and fresh bake bread this years for Christmas. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾💚💚💚
Yess sis. That's what's up, sounds good. Enjoy 😉
Stupid question, I was told you're NOT allowed to touch the pork with your hands while washing? And do all containers used have to be glass? 🤔
@peppa3693 never heard about the touching thing and yes glass containers are recommended to prevent contamination & food poisoning.
I've never eaten garlic pork. First time in my 47 years, I'm going to try. I'm Guyanese but our family never ate pork.
Be sure to have a vent on high as well. Once the vinegar begins cooking off it'll burn your nostrils to a crisp
❤👍💯🇬🇾
how did it become Guyanese garlic pork isnt it actually a Portuguese thing that originally called Vinha D’Alhos.
The same way we say Trini curry, Guyanese curry, etc. Stop being a Karen.
The ancestors from Madeira, Portugal (lots of descendants in Guyana) brought it to Guyana (variation is called garlic pork) and to Goa in India (variation is called vindaloo). The basics of the recipe are very similar to vinha d’alhos.
thanks which is why i cant seem to get why its now being called guyanese garlic pork when its not originated from there.@@janinecroteau5946
No no 👧 coffee and cake on xmas morning from Canadian Guyanese 😂😂😂
You're not guyanese. Bye!
Traditional for non-Hindu Guyanese is what you mean.
This looks amazing. The marinade is awesome
Thank you.
