@ajholcombe lol you are really one of those people. I think it’s fairly obvious that this was emotional for him, even though you’re right he does look nervous but I do not think that’s the only emotion he was going through at that time. He might very well have been “well over the Beatles” at this time as a group, but he still loved all three of those other guys despite the troubles they may have had. To only have the two of them up there to accept that award after it had been nearly 20 years since they had even been in a room together at once, plus one of them had tragically passed at this point. I’m sure it was bittersweet to say the least.
He was trying hard to hide his emotion... His eyes were teary and his voice was kind of breaking....God knows he was bleeding inside 😭😭😭 but he nailed it at the end... I love this man so much ❤️
The quiet Beatle, having the responsibility of making an acceptance speech of this enormity. An impossible task. I remember watching in anticipation of hearing monumental words to sum up the monumental career of the Beatles. George took the anticipation down a few notches, by making me realize that the Band was just as human as the rest of us, but with some extraordinary talents. His humble words matched his personality. Warm and genuine.
Looking back, it comes as no surprise that it was George Harrison who wrapped up the Beatles' story adequately and so properly. "The Quiet Beatle" indeed prevailed, "in the end."
2:15 "It's hard really to stand here, supposedly representing The Beatles. Uh, its what's left, I'm afraid." That made my ears prick up, hearing George say that. @VideoSaySo Conspiracy theories do not help people to cope with life. In the long run, conspiracy theories make life more difficult. Everybody has to face reality eventually, and the longer that people postpone it...the more brutally earth shattering it will be 😁👍
Yeah it was really sad on George's to stand up there and knows it was supposed to be a nice reunion and a celebration of him and his friends as a musical unit. He felt a bit reflectibe there but at that very moment he knew the Beatles was over. His friend John had died, his friend Paul wasnt in good terms with the rest of them cos of a business spat and his friend Ringo was drunk out of his mind.
@@hatujemeletsplayeryheskyce6460 He wanted a bigger cut from the Lennon/McCartney credits stating he helped write those songs. Paul was deeply upset by it and felt that a Beatles reunion would be a farce under those circumstances. Therefore, he didn't attend.
@@hatujemeletsplayeryheskyce6460 Paul didn't want to fake smile and make nice, because he was furious with George and Ringo since they filed suit against him a few days earlier, because Paul's Eastman in-laws, *(the ones George, Ringo, and John rejected in favor of John's handpicked crook, Klein, who later screwed them)* negotiated better deals for him than their managers did for them.
@@bartosz4066 Paul sure didn't think the bloated Anthology project was a farce because there was money involved! George stated in an interview that McCartney was receiving more royalties for a period of time and that he, Ringo and I guess Ono sued Paul and won.
Ringo actually had to go to AA later that year. The man was permanently blacked out for like 25 years. So glad he is alive and well today at 80. Can’t speak enough on my admiration for George Harrison. Most underrated Beatle and was a genius in his own right.
Harrison was a genius, period. He was the only Beatle who was able to disassociate himself from the band: "All Things Must Pass" is a work that stands on its own, no need for Yoko, gossip, bickering... the Bangladesh concert was a big chapter in music History. George's close association with Dylan, Clapton, Ravi Shankar, Indian culture, beliefs and his supergroup The Traveling Wilburys with Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Dylan never needed The Beatles as crutches... Even when the band was the main topic like his support for The Rutles, it showed more of his human side than his Beatle side just like his appearance on SNL in the 70s and his love for F1 and his friendship with Fittipaldi. Harrison blossomed beyond The Beatles... for me, he has the most interesting solo career of all four. It doesn't just emulates music from the past, he created a sound of his own.
George was so adorable, kind, empathetic and diplomatic. For sure one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life was the "quiet beatle" representing everyone, definitely an inspiration for everyone. We miss you George :(
George had a messy life too, especially romantically, & he did some undignified things. He would be the first to admit that. We should be careful to let all the Beatles keep their humanity, because that's part of what makes them so special, as they remind us, our humanity can reach the heights of godliness.
tbh they all have a reputation for expecting their wives to put up with open infidelities. george especially expected to be 'free' to go where he wanted regardless of marriage, and often did. they all also are pretty extreme prima donas-but then again, who of us would be 'normal' if we'd lived the lives those four had? theyre the only four people on the planet who went through that level of madness, fame, power, pressure, and so on (and at such young ages, and its all they knew theyre whole lives). it would kind of be weird if they came out of it and were like average people...
Wow he's under more than the Yellow Submarine. Time to go back to the Octopus's Garden in the shade Richard . Fuc em,' I miss the days when everybody could get shithoused and it wasn't such a big fuck*ng deal. 🤷 Oh yesterday .. 😢
Ringo is freaking plastered here, I'm glad he was able to get clean afterwards. And while it's shame that Paul wasn't there, George's speech really shines and you can really see how grateful he is. I'm also glad that Yoko, Julian, and Sean were able to speak for John. While it's true that Lennon wasn't a perfect person, he was clearly missed at this ceremony and he is still dearly missed today. Those four lads built a band that will always be dear to me and I'm glad that they received this honor when they did.
Dolly, I think it's sad that the Beatles did not just reunite with Julian joining them in the stead of his father. Like you said, looks like his dad, sounds like dad, and already had a name for himself in music. It might've been wonderful.
Imagine a world with John and George still alive You may say I’m a dreamer But I’m not the only one Hope someday you’ll join us And the world will live as one
+Dysfunctional Fox sure, but it'll be alot, because right now I'm going to show you why I hate yoko and the truth about her. She really isn't as nice as what she seems. She's a fake bitch. No Yoko didn't actually love him. She only wanted his money and fame. When they were living in New York she would literally spend thousounds of his dollars going on shopping sprees and she would be in recording studios all of the time making her own albums (I have no idea why though because she can't sing)Once she got everything she wanted from John she didn't need him. She wouldn't give him any attention and affection, she made him sexually frustrated and it made him feel very lonely. That's when he realised that he wanted to be with Cynthia again and that he should've stayed with her in case you didn't know he was planning on going back to Cynthia in Dec, 1980. Did you know that yoko literally STALKED and BLACKMAILED when he was with Cynthia? She'd send a ton of letters to their house asking John for money and she'd send notes like 'If you don't support me I'll kill myself' and she'd phone his house all of the time (even though he changed his number because of her like 3 or 4 times) and she'd sit outside of John and Cyn's home everyday all day. John wanted to stay with Cyn and he wanted more children with her, but yoko soon got into his head and convinced him that he didn't love Cynthia. I think that it's disgusting that she purposely split up a husband and wife (Yes they had problems, but they were trying to fix them) and take a father away from a young child. She should be ashamed of herself Oh wait she doesn't care because she now has a SHIT LOAD of money and owns everything thanks to John who worked SO hard to earn everything he achieved, which she did NOTHING for, but yet she now owns everything: His money, his estate and his royalties. Notice I'm saying his alot, that's because that's exactly what they are: HIS and NOT hers, she shouldn't own any of it, but I guess she got what she wanted in the first place. I hate her because she treats his family like shit, especially Julian. He's gone through so much shit because of her. She wouldn't even allow John to see Julian for a few years just because she couldn't see her daughter, that's not fair at all. It was Julian who suffered because of her and because of his dad who stupidly agreed to it, but that's because yoko would control John by using drugs and brain washing techniques and manipulation. As well as that, she sold all of Julian's personal stuff that was personal because of his dad e.g the post cards his dad send him and Julian is entitled to some money because of his dad, but yoko won't let him have it still after 35 years, She's even paid for layers and took him to court, so he couldn't have the money. Also once John and yoko were living in New York she wouldn't even let him speak to his family on the phone, whenever they and Julian tried to phone him yoko would answer and would make an excuse as to why John couldn't talk on the phone. She pushed everyone out out of his life, so she could be seen and known as the only Lennon in his life and that she was the only important one. Even when John and Cyn were friends in the mid 70s and onwards yoko would destroy the letters Cynthia was writing to him, so John couldn't see them which made him sad because he thought she wasn't talking to him anymore. Don't even get me started on what happened after John's death and how cruel she treated his family. John wanted to be burried, he told everyone close to him his fears about being cremated, but yoko didn't care and cremated him just so she could keep him to herself and so his family couldn't say their proper and last goodbyes. She didn't even tell them he died, so they had to find out like everyone else via the media. No family should find out a person from their family had been so tragically killed by finding out through newspapers and the media. She didn't even tell them if he had been burried or cremated or if he was having a funeral or not. She never invited them. At one point she was willing not to let his own son even come because Cyn asked if she could come since Julian was obviously very upset and wanted his mum there. Cynthia asked yoko on the phone, but yoko replied 'I'm sorry, Cynthia, but if you come he doesn't come. It's not like you're an old school friend of mine is it? So Julian had To go on his own. It's like yoko wasn't even letting his family and friends grieve for him. I know it would've been awkward since she was his ex wife, but John was Cyn's love of her life, she loved him deeply, so of course she would be sad and grieve him too. She knew him much longer than yoko and was met him when they were only teenagers. A quote from Cynthia is: "The man I love the most died a tragic death." I think it's absolutely disgusting that yoko uses his death as an excuse to gain more money like the time she publicly displayed his clothes he was shot in and his blood stained glasses only to make people pay to see them. I strongly believe that Cynthia was a million times better than yoko and that Cyn was the real love of his life, here's why I think that: 1) She loved John for him, not his money. 2)She was kind and cared for him deeply. 3)She made sure John was happy whenever she could. 4) She put John before herself. 5) she encouraged John greatly and supported his love of music. 6) She made sure their home was as welcoming and as comforting as she could for John to come home to after being on a tour. 7) She comforted him when he was sad. 8) She was always there for him. 9) In both of her books she never says a bad thing about him and always talks about his strengths and tries to make his weaknesses sound good. The one that really proves she loved him is that she gave up her dream of becoming an art teacher, so John could achieve his dream of becoming a famous musician. People think that she was just a boring person, but she had dreams too and lots of people who knew her say that she was far from boring. She was PERFECT for John, He made a huge mistake leaving her, but deep down I think that he never stopped loving Cynthia ever. I believe that yoko was just a stupid obsession and that Cynthia was the real love of his life. I love John so much, but I hate him for leaving Cyn and treating her bad when all she wanted to do was give him love and affection, but Do you want to know why I think she's a better person than yoko? She has NEVER said a bad thing about yoko and never blames her for their marriage falling apart. Now that shows how much of a better person Cynthia is than yoko. So you see, yoko is actually just a money grabbing, attention seeking, cold hearted bitch and she's pretending to be all kind and sweet in this video. She's just a fake bitch.
George Harrison was one cool cat. I wish I had appreciated his contribution to music while he was still alive. I could almost assure that George's idea was to close with the following phrase *'You're such a lovely audience'* but it's evident in his voice how emotional he was, it didn't have to be easy to speak on behalf of the four, and even if Ringo was physically there it is as if he was not aware of the moment, as far as John's family well, the meaning cannot be the same. Great respect to George!!!
The speech really shows George's character: classy, modest, genuine, honest, funny, cheeky, wise, kind, empathetic, and very diplomatic. What a great speech for an awkward situation. He held it together.
Julian really is a spitting image of his father. His eyes (especially) and mouth are so much like his fathers, as is his gritty voice. It's good to see two sons carrying on the life force of John.

I love Julian. He's such a nice man. He has the kind and warm personality like Cynthia, but also the same sence of humour and wit like John and he looked him too. John and Cynthia made a great person ❤
George has such a wickedly hilarious and subtly wise sense of humor. And Ringo is just so pure and has such a warm loving energy. Immense respect to these two for being there that night and accepting the induction. It’s really bizarre that the two most “famous” Beatles aren’t there for this, and that the two Beatles who too often took a backseat to them treated this moment with such tenderness and love. Especially George, who was arguably the one most fed up with being “A Beatle” near the group’s breakup. You can see it in his eyes here that he fucking loves The Beatles just like everyone else does. Love, love, love.

@fjf sjdnx I agree too, he would have put the bad blood aside and showed up for all these things eventually. John really was the "leader" of the Beatles, the head of the gang, and the spirit of the group was his to turn off or on. It really was impossible to get that Beatles spirit without him there spamming his playful sarcasm. It was his attitude, his manner, that became the attitude of the group, and the others were just really great at melding with that to the point it became a four-headed monster. Ringo's comedy is sadly out of place without the wit of John to bounce off of. God, we miss him!

'Anyway, it sort of turned out fine and it has got a bit bigger than any of us expected' (@3.18) is a line only George Harrison can say about The Beatles in this entire planet. Bravo, George. All I can say. Sean's tiny speech had a tint of John's sarcastic style in the end, was a bit eerie, in a nice way. It could have been awful. George carried it gracefully and redirected everything to the proper path. Julian is a kind man, deserves anything good that happens to him. Ringo, we ALL love you. May you never leave us.
George said later that Paul was "Making a statement" by not showing up for this. Richie had a bit of a drinking problem at this time bless 'im. George did the right thing.
There was so much more. There was Brian Epstein, the boyish young Jewish gay store clerk with no management experience who, on a whim, took an amateur group and made them the biggest stars in the world. There was George Martin, the classical music producer who had the guts to take on four scruffy rock singers and help create some of the greatest recordings in music history. There was John Lennon, the obstinate juvenile delinquent who would not let the group fail and who wrote some of the greatest songs ever composed. Paul McCartney, whose love of rock music made him the perfect partner with his great singing and composition abilities. George Harrison, whose guitar accumen, backup singing and own compositions greatly enhanced the group. And Riingo Starr, an intuitive drummer who recognized the importance of a perfect beat. There was Hamburg, Germany, the tough clubs and adoring German fans who were the first to fully recognize true magic when they saw and heard it. And all those fans who knew the Beatles had to be the greatest music group in rock history. That's the real story.
Brian Epstein was a lot more than a store clerk - his family owned the department store (which he was running by that time), so he did have management & business experience - but just not related to managing rock & roll groups.
I'm touched to see Julian being so gracious. He always has been of course, but now that we Beatles fans understand more about how slighted he was, it's bittersweet to see his very ideal behavior in such situations.
It warms me to hear Yoko speak so lovingly and respectfully of John and his legacy, and still to this very day… If you love John how can you hate this woman?!
There 2 separate people, that's how, I will however admit that I really don't know anything about Yoko but I just wanted the point out your logic is stupid
Not sure where the evidence for that is but even if it were true, what does that have to do with what I said about her? She doesn’t love or care for him because she didn’t like the music they were making??
Then again, George Harrison said the same thing about how John would have been there. I don't know if he was dissing Paul, perhaps just speaking from the heart about John.
George was always one of my favourite Beatles. I love all of them but George has something cool about him a quiet, humble lead guitarist? He’s cool as fuckkkk...
This is exactly why George Harrison is my favorite now in this point in my life. He was so humble and yes the quiet one, but his songs have become some of my favorites.

@VideoSaySo Conspiracy theories do not help people to cope with life. In the long run, conspiracy theories make life more difficult. Everybody has to face reality eventually, and the longer that people postpone it...the more brutally earth shattering it will be 😁👍
That broke my heart too. The Beatles did indeed die that night.

Why wasn't he there?

Ringo actually had to go to AA later that year. The man was permanently blacked out for like 25 years. So glad he is alive and well today at 80. Can’t speak enough on my admiration for George Harrison. Most underrated Beatle and was a genius in his own right.
Well said 👍
Wasn’t it five or seven weeks at the Betty Ford, together with Barbara Bach, for a serious detox?
He and Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees used to hit it up hard - both guys had some great music and sense of humour
For the first few seconds I was so confused, seeing John standing in the back, until I realized it was Julian.
It wasn’t John. It was his son, Julian. John was killed outside his building in 1980. You should check the facts before commenting.

Mi beatle favorito I love George Harrison por siempre
George always kept his dignity and humor, no matter the circumstances. It's why in retrospect he's become our fave.
George had a messy life too, especially romantically, & he did some undignified things. He would be the first to admit that. We should be careful to let all the Beatles keep their humanity, because that's part of what makes them so special, as they remind us, our humanity can reach the heights of godliness.
Don’t say”our”I love Geo but Johnny will always be my favorite.

tbh they all have a reputation for expecting their wives to put up with open infidelities. george especially expected to be 'free' to go where he wanted regardless of marriage, and often did. they all also are pretty extreme prima donas-but then again, who of us would be 'normal' if we'd lived the lives those four had? theyre the only four people on the planet who went through that level of madness, fame, power, pressure, and so on (and at such young ages, and its all they knew theyre whole lives). it would kind of be weird if they came out of it and were like average people...

+Chantelle Adlington How is she a money grabbing bitch?
She isn't no Courtney Love.
+Dysfunctional Fox YES.SHE.IS. You CLEARLY don't know the truth about her
Chantelle Adlington more information would be nice.
So Julian had
To go on his own. A quote from Cynthia is: "The man I love the most died a tragic death."
I think it's absolutely disgusting that yoko uses his death as an excuse to gain more money like the time she publicly displayed his clothes he was shot in and his blood stained glasses only to make people pay to see them. I strongly believe that Cynthia was a million times better than yoko and that Cyn was the real love of his life, here's why I think that:
1) She loved John for him, not his money.

George was so spiritual and human, and a great sense of humor. Great guitarist too. What else?
Classy speech, from the great George Harrison.

He shoulda said the "Hope you will enjoy the show" line cause reversed it's "Why should George nearly weep for him"
Wow, very genuine, emotional and raw.. trying not to cry!
A TRULY WONDERFUL MAN.R I P 🙏🙏
George Harrison is one of my favorite guitar players and I have tremendous respect for him. What a humble guy.
I do love While my guitar gently weeps.
This is exactly why George Harrison is my favorite now in this point in my life. He was so humble and yes the quiet one, but his songs have become some of my favorites.
George didn't realize just how precious and wonderful he was with or without The Beatles. Yoko didn't realize that John was standing right next to her....all she had to do was turn to her side and see Julian Lennon...the spittin image of his dad.
"George didn't realize how precious and wonderful he was with or without The Beatles" 👍👏❤️
Right........Yoko never even realized her son was a lot like his dad. Some of these comments must be from 12 year olds.
@@3Ddude101 Julian is not her son
Good vibes all around, drowning out a few awkward moments. George: so diplomatic, thoughtful and humorous. Yoko, keeping it short and to the point, and Ringo, keeping it light. And Mick did an excellent job on this occasion.
George always have been my favorite Beatle. So human. Recently I watched living in the material world and that documentary make justice to him. As always, here he use the proper words, and said what is need to be said, he´s humbleness, just watch his eyes and his body expression. We miss you George. What a sad moment for one of the most greatest band ever.
They were simply the best band ever. What kind of cosmic luck we all have to have lived in a time when we get to hear the beauty these 4 guys created. I can't believe it!
Won’t happen again this millennia. Or even the several ones after that.
They got in a couple of digs at Paul for not being there but they still expressed their love and appreciation of him. Sean was adorable.
Except yoko, she had no right to even give a speech. Paul should have been there over her.
Yoko was no doubt a large part of the reason Paul wasn’t there.
George was And still remains in my opinion the Very Best friend to everyone. He just as A decent Man. All of Them we're great people. ! God bless The Beatles !
Yoko and George sounded like they were hiding tears

Yoko just a bitches dude
Lovely words from George. What a lovely human being he was.
Yoko didn't scream. We should be grateful!
yoko didn't get shot. we should be disappointed!
@@infinitelyprolonged4402 Ik Yoko did some horrible things but without Yoko, John wouldn't have been fulfiled romatically. Remember imagine came out of these two
Yoko? oh no!!!
Infinitely Prolonged Yoko isn’t the greatest musician but I don’t think she should be shot, that’s disrespectful
@@ianstu1940 Wow, sounds like Joseph Stalin has mellowed out a bit . Any regrets about any of the untold thousands of people you DID have shot?
George was a class act. I was honored to be born on his birthday.
WOW!!! ❤️
wow wow
i am honored too!! we share george's birthday
I can't imagine what music would sound like today, if The Beatles never existed.
If The Beach Boys never existed, then Pet sounds would never be released and The beatles would never aspire to make "Sgt Pepper."
Same I guess
True.
STFU
MrGandharva108 what if no elvis? No beatles either!
Darling George.
The best Beatle.
“I’m pretty proud to be up here for doing nothing” so cute. Man They deserve this award but yeah it must have been a bittersweet moment cause John and Paul weren’t there.
Nora Galvan Yes, but John still was there more than Paul, that night. His strong spirit pushed through the veil, from the world we cannot see, and into that ceremony, giving peace a chance. ✌🏻
Ummmm no they don't ....they didn't write any songs on Beatles albums that I know of , The award is for The Beatles and them only ......Under your warped perspective every dead member in the RnR HOF kids should all be included ??? Bahahahahahahah omg you're delusional with your thinking .....I'd get that checked out , You may have suffered a stroke a few yrs back without noticing :(
yeah that kid is definitely the child of a Beatle with that humor
@@Yourdoomawaitsyou they literally did write their songs it's heavily documented

Aw Julian sounds so much like his dad. And Sean is so cute
Rip George Harrison. My sweet lord
He still lives in our heart 😭❤️
In millions of people's hearts 😭❤️
He's so fine
My Lord is Jesus, but yeah RIP George
It was probably after the break up of the Beatles that George became my favorite Beatle his humble nature, his wisdom, it leaves me in awe. I actually sat here watching this alone feeling embarrassed for Ringo. I remember an interview with Ringo in the late 90's when he made reference back to this time period where almost in anger he referred back, "Yes, Him...He was a drunk".
I love George ! He was and will always be my favorite.
They gave us so much, and we still have 2 of them left. I can not fathom my own heart when it comes to these guys. I just know that their music, their story, their influence, has healed me in times of great pain and im eternally grateful. God bless the Beatles ❤️
