Rotated them 1/3 turn counterclockwise. What you identified as the 7mm was the 300. Next time, run a line down the sides of the plates, and you won't lose your orientation.
You made a mistake, you turned and the one you put down was the 6.5 prc, the first bullet found is 6.5 prc, the second 7mm prc and the last 300 prc. review the video better next time or make a mark like a line with a sharpie on the column of plates so as not to make this perspective error. greetings
This might sound silly, but just maybe if you soak the plates in water...the plates should catch the bullets with less tearing and the bullets may fragment less, just a thought. Enjoyed the video btw.
He rotated the plates…it was 7 prc vs 300 prc at the end plates. And 7 prc went a few plates further. But in real life, the 300 prc will go further to a target. If you are going with a long action rifle, might as well pick 300prc.
1st got nothing but mad respect for you your a stand up great man 2nd I watch all your videos helps me to pick out a gun I don't own and want to see what it will do and 3rd would love to go to a range with you and spend a day hanging out with you feel I could learn a lot from you about long range shooting thanks for this great videos you put keep up the great work my friend
Bought the 300 prc .. shoots so much better than my 338 lapua, was gonna comment when you said “ so I don’t get confused” you rotated them too much and was off on which was which , but seen others catch that as well lol
Not a fair comparison as 6.8 is not loaded with an eldm. A cool test would be to load them all with an accubond long range. Nosler load data states the 300 prc can drive the 210 to 3100 fps. That’s a cannon.
Took my 6.5 PRC out today for some testing. So first I did a Factory loaded test with 127 Barnes LR , 140 Berger Hunting VLD & Berger 156 Elite Hunting VLD. Almost forgot the 143 Hornday ELDX The 140 was the smallest group followed by the 143 then the 127 & 156. Then I went on to some hand loads and again the 140 Berger shot better than the 127. I’m not happy with the Hornday brass pretty soft stuff and the Lapua was just fine. .5 groups pretty much the norm and I don’t think this rifle will do better?? So I’ll be using the 140 Berger for my Roosevelt Elk Hunt coming up in November.
@@kylehurley5994 I actually wanted the 156 but there are no available ones to load just loaded ammo. I figure if the 270 can use 130-150 then the 6.5 with a140 should do the job if I do mine and shots are going to be in the 200-275 yard range so I’m good to go!
Nice to see a WHOTEEWHO classic with the new cartridges. Interesting result. Along with the deformation like you mentioned I’m guessing the smaller/skinnier area of the bullet from face-on gave the advantage to the smaller calibers.
Great detailed process it’ll be interesting to see the total cost of the actual parts used (if a non-influencer has to pay for them) plus all the labor, and see what that total comes to, and how it compares to high-end pre-manufactured rifles at that same $ total Most people pay with money and don’t have the luxury of paying with ads, placement, and supplier deals
I'm sure you already know always verify what the box says is true. And just my two cents when checking for accuracy if your using lead ammunition and switching to all copper ammunition clean the barrel before you do until the paper comes out clean.
Interesting, the smaller round did the most penetration. An amazing thing is how paper stacked together can stop such powerful projectiles. Thank you sir, always enjoy your videos.👏👍🏽🙏
Change bullet type and you will get the opposite results. Match bullets fragment easily, they are designed for steel planking not penetration. more energy = fast explosion/fragmenting of a bullet. Hence why the 300 prc penetrated the least, it has the most energy. Try using copper bullet or some hunting rounds. The 300 prc will smoke both the 6.5 and 7 prc. Would love to see a follow up vid
@@WHOTEEWHOBro honestly I am thinking of buying a single rifle that can hunt everything but not for Alaska, I am a man of 5'9 maybe 180 pounds, I am not big with little experience handling hunting rifles. I would like either the 7 Prc or the 300 Prc and to be honest there are sightings near where I live in the woods of Bigfoot and other things that I am not going to talk about here. I do not know which to choose of the two, because I am worried about choosing the 300 PRC and not being able to handle the recoil. The largest creature that I may face is between 600 to 1,300 pounds, which would you recommend for someone with little experience, thanks in advance. And how many pounds of recoil does the 300 PRC make?
nice test! i think maybe there was some deformation of the plates after the first shot that could add variables... duct tape them so they dont move and are compressed? or doo the test over with 600 plates and one shot per stack of 600?
If only knew how many of my friends listen to you, you'll be astonished. They all bought 6.5 PRC's.I want to get one.Which one would you recommend? You have become our legend. Good job!
* Next time draw a straight line with a marker along the top edge of the stack of plates going from the front to the back ( or back to front ). This will help keep your stacks in line and not inadvertently rotated.
Poor paper plates they didn't stand a chance against any of the calibers 😢 Great video always love your stuff. Note: I think the person recommending the skunk stripe on the plates is a good idea. Keep up the good work ❤
another great vid n learning a ton from you brotha adam , love em all , so many choices nowadays compared to the 80's when i hunted with my dad , thanks for teaching me n guiding me along bro, talk soon . tom !
Well more power isn't always the answer, that is if we're talking paper plates, because a high power skinny bullet will do better than a fatter bullet, big game is what you want to compare these bullet with.
Thank you for the vid. This is always a fun topic! Theory: i think the performance of the second and third bullets are misrepresented. I think the first shot creates more air space between the plates. Not much. But enough to change (decrease) the overall density of the plate stack. Bullet 2 would go through fewer plates and bullet 3 even fewer. (If all the same caliber/bullet). Does that make sense? For an accurate representation I think you would have to use pristine plate stacks and have them compressed with the same amount of tension. But that’s a lot of plates. Adam how would you feel about a shorter 7prc barrel? Like a 20 or 22? Think it’s a bad idea? Maybe too much velocity loss😑
If it had been a hunting bullet it probably would. Match bullets too inconsistent on penetration. I wont use them for hunting big game unless "desperate"
Thinking about another pew pew. Calibers 6.5 prc, 7 prc, 6.8 Western and 7mm Remington Magnum. Mostly for hunting whitetail to elk, possibly bear. Possible long range shot. I'm busted up pretty bad and full of shrapnel so less recoil is a plus. Of course ammo availability, reloading component availability is also a consideration. Which caliber would you choose guy's?
😂😂 yeah the 6.5 PRC is such a great Cartridge from Hornady 147gn ELD-M at 2819ft/s when my good old 6.5x55SE does the same speed out of a 22inch Barrel with 140gn in Pressure Specs my loads are tested and they are under CIP Max pressure (they come at around 3750bar so totally safe to use with a modern Rifle Mauser M12 Expert Grade 5 Walnut i would not hesitate to go even to aroud 4k but this load shoots the best consistent half MOA 5 Shot Groups) 😂😂 yeah totally worth the hype same for the Creedmoor, Paul Mauser and the Swedish and Norway Millitary build a fantastic Round in 1893 and Hornady 130 Years later gets nearly the same Performance 👍😜😂😂
Once again I enjoyed your video!!👍 I know PRC ammunition is hard to get. But for a penetration test it would be better to use a hunting bullet instead of a match target bullet.
I love this paper plate test buddy!!! no, what he mistook as the 300 was the 7mm and what he identified as the 7mm was the 6,5 actually
Common sense would expect the smallest fastest bullet to penetrate farthest. Any1 shooting steel knows this information....

The 7 PRC did win, you rotated the plates on accident.

6..5 normally would be the most because it the harder it goes in the more it going to open up but 7 is also the best ballistic effect I would assume

This is grand. But How big was the hole for each cal. per plate . Just because you go further doesn't mean the hole is bigger per inch of penetration.
Thanks for all you do. You guys are living my dream.
Good to see the paper plates un action again !
7 may have penetrated a little more than the 300, but the 300 appeared far more devastating
I don't have any of these calibers but I think they're cool as hell.
I don't know 22 long rifle 30-06 in a good shotgun I think it's about all anybody needs, but what do I know.

Quality of tools is definitely more important than quantity, but there is a lot of functional room in between 22 lr and 30-06.
