Adam, I have liked Savages back when 10/10 people called them junk for how cheap they cost. I've gotta say I've never owned one that shot bad, ALL good. Excellent boolot sling'n brother!!!👍👍
I remember my dad's disappointment when I bought a Savage model 10 predator(he would ONLY carry a Remington). His attitude changed when it shot clover leafs at 100 yards.
@galenpedersen4755 That's what I'm talkin about 👍 I've had the same experiences with Mossburg when everyone criticized them, I personally loved them! 😀
Had a savage aXIS II in 25-06, shot same hole at 50 yds, looked like a shotgun at 100 no matter the ammo, factory, reloads etc... bought a second 1, same problem.
Same. I have a 110 Predator in .223 that can make one hole out of 5 shots with 69gr Sierra HPBT, and then did the same with 60gr Hornady V-Max’s. Love my Savage rifle.
Don't worry about what anybody says.. Your videos are very helpful to us average shooters and hunters. If anyone thinks they can do better then post your Owen videos. These are hunting rifles and hunting ammo.. Keep the videos coming I watch everyone.
Have the same rifle in a 300wsm and it shoots fantastic with my handloads. 168 gain Hammer Hunters at 3100 fps sub 1/2". Great rifles....but yes, as others have stated, it is heavy for a "High Country" rifle. If you want a light Savage....the ultralight is the way to go. They shoot great as well.
I have the same gun in 30-06. It liked the 180 Remingtons but loved the Federal terminal ascent and federal loaded partitions. Both 5/8” groups. Very fine rifle.
You are a hunter shooting deer catching boolot slingers. This is some of the best groups I've seen you shoot and from a store bought savage and from store bought boolots. Great thing with that rifle is that it's a 308 and it will shoot about anything at 100yds. If you go off somewhere and forget your boolots and it does happen, you can find a box of 308 about anywhere and that boolot slinger will sling about anything. I watch your videos everyday. May be 2 in the morning when I'm on nights but I do watch. Keep doing what you're doing the way you want to do it.
Just got my youngest daughter a 110 predator Tera camo in 6.5cm for catching deer this fall, went straight out to grandmas house and sighted it in the same yard I shot mine in when I got my first rifle which was also a savage 110 (270win) 25 years ago. Was looking for a Tikka t3x or Weatherby vanguard for her but you can’t beat the features you get on the savage at that price point. 2 screws out the back and that rifle went from a generic fit for a adult male to a custom fit for a 12 yr old girl, he mom also shoots a 6.5 so we tried what her savage likes and I think we will just keep buying that federal terminal accent for both. She’s still not comfortable with the hunting cartridges, she really prefers her 10-22 Ruger but wants to get a deer so she’s working on it!
I have 6 308s and all of them shoot less than .5 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards. I handload 165 grain Nosler ballistic tips for hunting and 168 grain Sierra match kings for target shooting. I really enjoy the videos.👍👍
I like your ammo test. I can remember as a young guy, 1 1/2” group was great from a hunting rifle. If I recall right Weatherby on their Mark series said under 1 1/2” groups. Iron sights was a 3” or so average group. But hunting was more close in then. I never heard of shooting anything but pronghorns at distance back then. Keep up the good work.
Ha ha, I was about to ask if you cleaned the barrel after so many shots, then you mentioned it. I have to agree with you about the Savage trigger, my 110 has a wonderful trigger, right out of the box, no need to even think about adjusting it.
Awesome shooting rifle along with the marksman behind the trigger. Don’t forget the ragged one hole 🕳️ group with the Savage M110 Trail Hunter in 300 WSM, which to me is just as or more impressive since it’s a harder recoiling cartridge. 😎🦌🇺🇸
I realize I am a little late to the party; however, that is an amazing group. It is definitely a point zero something group and for a hunting rifle with hunting ammo, that is superb. Congrats on the point zero group. You don't see them everyday for us "average" folk. Keep up the good work!!
In 2003, after much comparison, I went and bought a Savage 116FCSS with a custom factory profile barrel and woodland camo stock, at that point you couldn't even hardly find a scope mount to bolt on it because it was so new, but once I found one, I've never looked back. I sold all my other brands in favor of just this one in 300 win mag. It'll do everything from varmints to moose and 100 yd to a thousand.. All day long
I convinced my brother and two of my nephews to try Savage. They all were surprised. My brother has a 284AI and he uses it for everything now. My nephews bought 308s, same. Yes, you can have under an inch in Savage rifles with the right load. For dollars spent, the best value out there. If I "needed" another rifle, or if I just want another rifle, it WILL be a Savage. However, I have too many adequate rifles now.
Dang Hoot, that Savage likes nearly everything! 🎉 Despite what many believe, under an inch and a half is deadly and plenty for venison harvesting operations! 😮 Nuff said. ❤
I need to take my Storm in 25-06 back out to the range. It shot pretty good, even with PPU ammo. I have not used a lead sled as I cannot get comfy behind one. Front bag only, as that is the closest to deer stand shooting style for me. Ammo price has come down some, but still up in the clouds. Considering trying some ELD-X and others, although Hornady Whitetail are pretty consistent and the price is $weet.😊
I like to load a bit hot with Nosler accubond 150 grain. If you are going after elk i suggest a good expanding monolithic of 165 grain. It's good out to 500 yards as long as you make a good shot on your game animal.
Yes francis i agree he should more data is more better as hes said good point. To stay on top and say uve tested something to the max has better understandings
Find out wat the box velocities say and barrels tested compare and match too cuzz I garentee if u shoot long range and its not the same barrel lenght ur doop and calculations will be off at a exstended range ill promise that more data more better its science
Great video as always adam.. Now let's see what that model does in other calibers... nothing would have thought savage now be sitting at the top of the game..
Getting an aluminum bedding block in a factory available stock is great. I have the older 110 predator. Similar features minus the cerakote and fluting
Excellent!!! I have three rifles that I need to do this type of sighting in with because I went with the “Fancy” ammo and bought a lot of it, simply because thats what i wanted it to shoot. Didn’t work out so well. I was about to call a browning rifle I bought a piece of crap. Then changed ammo twice and happy days. Now I’m trading ammo, go figure.
You convinced me to buy one. I bought it from a friend of mine who has a FFL for just over $1k. Bought a Vortex Viper PST 5-24x50 FFP. I’m extremely excited to tans it to the range and try to touch it at 1000 yards.
@@WHOTEEWHOupdate! I took it to the range a few weeks ago and hit the 1,000 yard target on the first try. Very consistent groups and all around happy with it!
I’d say a lot of good guns have been traded in back in the day because of not the ammo they liked 👍 I know I have learned a lot over the years thanks for all your videos
That rifle is secured three ways on the action by an and aluminum bedding that extends all the way through the forearm of the stock. I have a storm in 30-06 that loves 165 , 172 ,and 180 grain . I kinda have had the same experience with these rifles. Remington has their premier long range if you can get a hold of it . They are 172 grain bonded Speer impact bullet. For 308 and 30-06.
So many times i get a buddy that brings a rifle over and wants me to help him get it zeroed and shows up with one box of ammo.... luckily i like boo lot slingin so i usaully have a couple boo lots to contribute, Thanks for the videos!
Good video!!! I can't believe someone would complain about you using all Remington ammo?!? Now days you shoot what you can find and at least the price is reasonable with rem ammo.
Crazy you’re reviewing this now as I just got one too. Taking it to the big range tomorrow but I have a sneaky suspicion it’ll be the most accurate gun in my safe
I have a savage 112J single shot varmint bbl started life as a 220 swift. Melted the barrel off of it. Now I have 7 different caliber barrels for it. I have 3 other savage rifles in the 110 series and they are shooters out of the box. I have 2 axis forst models i did some work on them replaced the 8lb triggers put them in wood stocks, stress free pillar and epoxy bedded and they flat shoot. I want to play with the mossberg patriot in wood stock now. Backfire had one that was garbage and a few other people have had horrible luck with them. I want to take one apart, check the trueness of the action/barrel and see why they are having problems. Yiu had one that shot pretty well i believe.
Thanks for the video man always enjoy them. Really digging the love for the 308 lately. It is my favorite cartridge for sure. I would like to see you do a review on the savage 110 ultra lite in 308, 30-06 or 280 ackley improve? Thanks again for the video God bless
I shot my 629 w/ 8 3/8” barrel today. That thing surprises me every time I shoot it. Can’t imagine a 500 mag. Hurts the hand after 12-16 shots. Your hand made me think of it.
I love my model 29 8 3/8" 44mag., try a rubber Houge Mono Grip to cushion the recoil and help prevent hurting the hand. I ring a steel 36" plate at 330 yards open sight with mine.
Great video, great groups, well except one, which was still excellent. Love your videos. How 'bout an experiment. This is based on a video I saw over on Backfire. His was based on someone else's experience. Clean the barrel, foul with copper, and shoot a couple more groups with copper only.. The theory is some rifles don't like the mixing of copper and lead projectiles and the copper after lead is less precise than copper from copper only rifles.
Another great video! Savage makes some very accurate rifles and all mine will shoot sub moa when i do my part. Do you do a barrel break in process? Or jus shoot it? And what is ur cleaning procedures after a day of shooting? Especially with copper. Thanks!
i have always called a 100 yd group like the 168 match you tested a "walk down and cover it with a dime group" . i had remington 700 bdl in 25-06 that would do that all day long with a load i worked up. i killed crows at over 400 yards with it. ended up selling it to a very dear friend. at least i know where it is. sure do miss it though. you have a tack driver there. you should keep that one.
hey my brotha adam you shoot what knocks them down n causes shock n awe , great stuff all around n check out atn and xs sights companies , great stuff there , talk soon bro > tom !
Good shoot'n, as you usually do. Three in one hole, my hat is off, not just tipped, but on the table. Take care of that hand. It takes a while, a hand is delicate and precise instrument. Take it slow and exercise it get the strength back. Have you seen any 220 grain 30 cal bullets lately? I hunt in the Big Thicket a lot.
WHO_TEE, I am a big fan of yours. Because of your reviews I am between a Ruger Murican II and the Savage High Country for .308. Do you have a preference between the two? Question: What do you think about the Federal (blue box) Power Shok line of ammo? You seem to favor the Core Lokt. Power Shok is a tiny bit cheaper nowadays and similar bullet construction. Do you have any experience with it? It would be cool to see how this rifle groups with it. The cheapest factory loads for "catching deers" seem to be Winchester Power Point, Remington Core Lokt and Federal Power Shok. It would be cool to see them three compared when you are testing deer catching rifles.
Well 180 grain bullets is heavy for caliber in 308. They're better suited for 300 win mag or 30-06. I was really impressed by 165 and 168 and 163 grain. The only thing you didn't try I've been super curious about is 135 or 140 grain solid coppers
I have the savage 110 storm in .308. At 100 yards it's consistently a .5 moa gun with rem core lokts 150s and 165s. I can put multiple shots through the same hole. It's more accurate than my tikka, and my favorite rifle that I own. I consistently hit an 8 inch gong at 300 yards everytime. For a deer rifle you couldn't ask for a better rifle. The new 110s with accustock are great rifles.
I have the 110 High country in 7mag. It shoots sub “.5 with 175gr ABLRs and even sub .5” with 168gr ABLRS. It’s a tax driver and deer and elk slayer! I get sub 1” at over 200 yards.
dam fine rifle. fyi Ron was talking about shooting coppers then regulars, said you may need to fire a fouling shot or two. im curious if it could shoot even better. I always enjoy the content. f
Pretty good performance but that's not unusual from Savage. My 116 FCSS Weather Warrior loves 165 grain Core-lokt lol. My barrel is the lightweight style so after 8 or so it widens up. I love that new 110, that's a beautiful rifle.
so from shooting my savage 110 trail hunter in 308, from shooting 150gr focchi/scheels exclusive, 165hornady american white tail, 168 hornady black, and 180 federal powershock, to see which one my rifle would like the best, from the ammo grains i shot, the 168 hornady black box, shot the best out of them all, which is now leading to me to figure out which 168 gr ammo my rifle will like. now a different note, i was able to get roughly 1 inch groupings at 100 yards quite well with it, could of been better if i wasent just shooting my rifle on just a bag(rifle rest on bag and the stock on my other hand, acting like a monopod) and having crap lungs from having covid....twice...really doesnt help with breathing control

I just bought this rifle in a 7mm-08 and it’s poison.

Measure farthest edges of the 3 shot hole and subtract .308 👌👏👏👏
Please do this and report back to us with that group!!
Yup then divide that # by 1.047 to get the MOA measurement.
There's just something about getting sub 3/4 MOA groups with budget ammo that gets my heart pumping. Good ol' Core-Lokt comes through again.
I got one of these and they are basically a competition rifle at a fraction of the cost! Glad you love it!
U think they are worth the money
@@Gokywildcats11 I got the 110 Precision in 6.5 Cm and Im thinking about trying F Class with it and its bone stock.

Good timing on this video! I and in the process of deciding what rifle to buy in 308. This was one my list. Thanks

Same hole measures outside hole to outside hole then devide by two. Gives you center to center.
Those 168s have been my go to for better then forty years in the 308.

I am a big fan of yours.
Between those I'd definitely go high country. Ammo is more about what groups best. If the federal groups good then have at it
I like this rifle. Colour and all.
Wow better than I would’ve of expected
Well 180 grain bullets is heavy for caliber in 308. They're better suited for 300 win mag or 30-06. I was really impressed by 165 and 168 and 163 grain. The only thing you didn't try I've been super curious about is 135 or 140 grain solid coppers
3 in the same hole. Nice!
Bougie WTW setting new standards when his camo matches his rifle!
165 grain tested different bullets powder and different brass can very on accuracy measuring ur chamber helps variables
Like to see how it likes the cheaper off the shelf stuff like whitetail, non typical, etc.. I reload all my stuff but curiosity is a killer
Never saw a tighter group but thought 168 was gonna do best. .. I don’t bet but I won. 😂
My old 308 loves 150,haven't tried the others yet. Traded a mallard hen decoy I made for it. Good trade.
..that is a very nice gun and an awesome barrel 🏆🏆🏆
..cheers/🍻🇸🇪🍻
I have a .308 that the only factory load it shoots well is 165gr hornady sst super performance. .7 Moa @ 100yds. "I only shoot free hand!"
I have the 110 High country in 7mag. It shoots sub “.5 with 175gr ABLRs and even sub .5” with 168gr ABLRS. It’s a tax driver and deer and elk slayer! I get sub 1” at over 200 yards.
Hope your hand gets better before hunting season.
Me too!
Another good video wtw. And good shooting. Thanks.
My solus 308 loves the Rem 168 as well.
Definitely a keeper
The rifle likes what it likes. Rarely does a rifle like what I want it to like.
Measure to outside edges and subtract bullet diameter. Most accurate way to do it.
At least this ammo is reasonably available. Some of the other brands are just not on the shelf.
dam fine rifle. fyi Ron was talking about shooting coppers then regulars, said you may need to fire a fouling shot or two. im curious if it could shoot even better. I always enjoy the content.
f
Possibly. Appreciate you watching
Was gonna question why shoot match ammo in a hunting rifle. But i guess you shut me up on that one.
Grouped crazy good
