    Game build inspired by comment from my OP Mage Build.
    Thanks to DarkWizard who commented
    "I really like my tech backstab build. You can do some really insane damage with a pyrotechnic axe while the enemy is unaware"
    I built upon this character idea using the Pyrotechnic axe and hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial.

    Reference the Pyrotechnic Axe, if you want to save the points you can recruit the dwarf Magnus in Tarant outside of Schuyler and Sons. You have to level him up to 12 if memory serves and he can make the Feather Weight Axe for you then you can use text books from the university in Tarant to raise your weapon skills high enough to make the Pyrotechnic Axe.
    Reference Virgil killing himself with the Pyrotechnic Axe it has a high Tech affinity requirement. As Virgil adds more spells as he levels normally his Magic affinity will eventually reach the point were pretty much any attack he does with it will fail.

    A few things. I don't think you actually need to wait until night to get the sewer map. I've pickpocketed that key and gotten the sewer map every time during the day in all my playthroughs. In the case of destroying the bridge materials, you might want to tell players that they can get the thieves quests still even if they do the quest from the constable to rid the bandits, as long as they do the rob the elven ruins quest.

      Good info. I would also add that you probably shouldn't waste three Character Points into making a Feather-Weight Axe, because being three Character Points behind for the entire game is awful. Instead you can get it from dwarven smiths, or certain NPCs, or even have Magnus craft you one once he's leveled a bit if you don't mind waiting.
      Additionally, for some reason, this axe seems to be the only melee weapon in the game that doesn't get damaged from hitting certain enemies (like Ore Golems). I don't know why.

    Yes this is similar to the build I use. One thing to note if you invest in prowling the damage multiplier goes up if the enemy is unaware. If you have mastery you can do it in combat but I think you can get around that limitation if you run around them then go into prowling if you have it at a high enough level. You can tell because the enemy will have the status of perilous! or unaware (edit) having just tested it out you can enter prowling during combat without mastery.

    • @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517
      @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517  3 роки тому +1

      I wanted to include prowling but wasn't sure if getting it first or getting the axe first would benefit more in earlier levels of the game, however, prowling would definitely be in the equation late game though, as apprentice prowling already makes unaware enemies take true damage as it'll penetrate through armor, also Master backstab would increase critical chance drastically making the build even more powerful. Thinking about it now, I could of done some research on gear to increase prowling to possible have the same build as now and still be able to prowl unaware utilizing gears.

      @@jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517 I'm can't be 100% sure because I've never made a build like this (Although I might try on the next playthrough), but I think the magic blacksmith might sell armor that helps with back stab and the dark robed assassin that hunts you in the world map may have a robe that helps with prowling, But magic items are weird in that for you to get their full benefits you need aptitude in magic. The more aptitude the more benefit on a kind of hidden percentage base.

    fun fact, the unique magic weapons (from the master teacher quest, bow and chakram) have insane crit chance with high magic aptittude. so combined with born under a sign background 90% of your hits are enhanced crits :) if you wanna do a really cheesy playtrough

    If i'm not mistaken the with Unofficial Patch, you can override follower auto-level scheme, i change Vergil to Fire Elementalist for Mage Build and Pure Mele-Dodge for tech, it's really good to make Vergil the best companion in the game for all path.

    • @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517
      @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517  3 роки тому

      That is true, I later did redo another playthrough with virgil as my tech guy to build pyrotechnics axes and made all team pure melee and dodge.

  • @coolhandluke1503
    @coolhandluke1503 3 роки тому

    The further your aptitude in magic is the more likely you are to critical miss with a tech weapon and vice versa. This also applies to your companions, so Vergil is always more likely to critical miss will a tech weapon than a magic weapon because of his ability in light magic, unless you change his leveling path (whatever that's called, I can't remember right now).

    • @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517
      @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517  3 роки тому

      that is trur about the aptitude of magic and the critical miss. Also another reason why virgil 1 shot himself is for not having high enough melee skills. In the video virgil was set to learn skills in his normal path and at level 9 had only had 1 to 2 pointd put into melee. I later redid a build with custom point set for each character to build the ultimate melee tech army with pyrotechnic axes.

    I know that it's a rather old video, but still there are improvements to be made with this build.
    First and foremost, a little gamebreaking (Mental) spell called Stun. It allows you to constantly backstab any target and it greatly improves your to-hit chance. Sure, it will need either a point in Willpower, or a background giving you some (Only Child is a great one for that), but it is worth it, because with the backstab, speed is everything and the fastest weapon, (the dagger of speed) needs some Magic Affinity, and for MA you need to learn some spells.
    As the daggers have the highest speed stat (and in a patched game, you can get a speed 16 dagger as fast as Shrouded Hills), you don't have to actually rush the Backstab Expert to be effective, so you can deal with Lukan any way you like, and still join the Underground later.
    Prowling skill is also quite efficient with backstab, but in combat Stun gives us pretty much the same advantage.

    • @julian_arness1320
      @julian_arness1320 2 роки тому

      Stun grenades are better, paralysis grenades are game breaking. An expert thrower with stun, explosive and paralysis grenades can demolish anything in the game pretty easily

    • @artexgrey6266
      @artexgrey6266 2 роки тому +1

      @@julian_arness1320 That's true, but a stun grenade requires at least 4 point plus some (potions of) intelligence, not to mention some points in throwing to be effective, while all you need for a good old Stun spell is two points. Also, learning the schematics will increase your TA, which in turn will lower your effectiveness with the dagger of speed and other useful items and spells.
      A tech thrower (any thrower, tbh) is a really fun build, but it's still less effective for a backstab bastard

    • @julian_arness1320
      @julian_arness1320 2 роки тому

      @@artexgrey6266 once you have them paralyzed, the backstab damage doesn't matter. In turn based they will never snap out of paralysis before you kill them. Sword of baltar or pyro axe are very good for backstabbing too once you're an expert and have enough strength

  • @mareksroczynski8484

    Why use pyro axe when you can use dagger of speed? It only costs 1 ap per action.

    • @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517
      @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517  3 роки тому

      this was my first time trying the backstab build recommended by a comment feedback. I did redo the build with the dagger of speed, those speed boots, and the haste spell and was getting 100+ damages without crits per backstab.
      definitely find ways to fine tune a build and your recommendation is definitely one of them.

      @@jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517 I had exact same build, why i liked it most is that i maxed charisma, persuasion, teleport and all thief skills. I think i ended game on 64 level with all quests done. Btw did you try beating arcanum with pacifist ? (0 kills) It's possible try it out ! :)

    • @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517
      @jessesgamereviewstipsandst5517  3 роки тому

      I haven't tried the pacifist build as exp is gained per hit or by quest and the quest approach seems quite tedious for leveling, but will try it sometime in the near future.
      What would count as a pacifist? no kills at all, or no kills counted in log book, or no kills by allies or all the above?
      if no kills, can I still damage enemies for exp without killing, or if I kill and then resurrect would that till count as a no kill?

    • @mareksroczynski8484

      sounds challenging, but Ill consider it in the near future. I figure a persuasion character build would be best choice.
