i would be tempted to try the AX gigabyte seem to be doing good things for this generation
@@mikesunboxing Hey a follow up question; do you have any knowledge about stability of different boards, im hoping to find a board around 200-230 dollars and for example apparently this board has given issues to many around long boot times and problems with ram.
I just picked up a 7600 and this motherboard. Will probably return for something with 2 M2s and an extra PCIe slot instead. Also bought without checking PCI lane support. (upgrade itch + beer + sale + 4 am = bad decisions!) help!
the asus b650 tuf gaming is pretty good although the asus software is rubbish
What SSD use? KINGSTON FURY renegade NVMe 1TB is oke?
yes that will be a good choice
@@mikesunboxing Thank you
i heard some bad comments for this motherboard --- is it good ?
yeah it is a good solid board, although i returned mine and got the edge wifi for the same price
I just broke mine.
First time removing the GPU the clamp broke off the pcie slot and damged my board. Its dead now. Guess I got unlucky.
sorry to hear that, those PCIe clips can be fiddly, but to have one tear off and damage the board is very rare unless you used way too much force
@@mikesunboxing yeah I agree. Sadly it broke in half while trying to open it without to much force. I am still a big MSI fan though! Guess I got unlucky with a purchase.
Got the RTX 3070 MSI suprim and the MSI ultrwide adaptieve sync monitor. Love both of them!
Do u need to connect both x8 cpu connectors or will only one work? im using a 7900x and 32gb ram and a rtx 3090 and a 1000w plat psu.
either way is fine
Does this come with a IO shield or is it already installed in the board
it is attached to the board
Hi,
I have been thinking about pairing this with a 7950X because I will not be making use of any PCI.e 5 Gen slots. Can you please let me know if this would be good fit for 3D rendering purpose.
yes it will be fine for that
I’ve never built a pc so a lot of this information goes right over my head. And the specific elements being discussed are not being pointed at. Hard to know what I’m supposed to look at!
if you have never built a pc you probably need a motherboard layout and function tutorial rather than a motherboard review. once you learn the general layout and composition of modern motherboards it will make sense
At the beginning i liked this board (i have b450 tomahawk and it worked flawlessly). But the B650 tomahawk has 0 PCIe gen5 connections. Not even an M2.0 . For the requested price it is unacceptable for me.
in terms of spec it isn't much to look at but compared with the competition in the b650 range this is about the best compromise
What are you possibly using PCIe for anyway
Can you please post a video showing the M.2 type wifi socket on this motherboard? Thank you.
i don't have the board now but it should be an m.2 E key type
Looks like a right nice motherboard for the price. The only thing better would be a cute redhead, like Mia Solis. LOL
Haha 😂 typical oletta! Hope you are okay over there if the news reports are to believed
@@mikesunboxing I support Oletta's comment ;-)
@@mikesunboxing What news reports are you speaking of? All's fine here.
@@OlettaLiano the train derailment and the toxic cloud from the wreckage
@@mikesunboxing That's way east of me, and the fear mongering news is really hyping it up. I also think it was designed to happen.
Can I use a WD_black ssd WITH HEATSINK on this board?
in the top slot yes if you remove the included one from msi
I have the same mobo but mine comes with a plastic piece in cmos battery socket and I can’t remove the battery.
post a picture of it in the discord and we can have a look to see what is going on there
Still struggling between choosing this board or the edge wifi or the carbon. It's been a tough week
yeah i know what you mean, settled on the edge wifi in the end
@@mikesunboxingunfortunately the only b650 msi motherboard available in my region is the tomahawk
Hello i recently bought this mobo. Installed two ssd but i couldn't find how to place third ssd's heatsink (02.) so I use without heatsink which I don't want to. Are there any guides about this? Thanks ❤❤

What about the notoriously long boot time and high VRM temperatures with this particular board?
I don't think the VRM temps where problematic? I must have missed that report. The RAM boot times are better now and using context restore also helps a lot. My recent MSI B650 boots to windows desktop in 20 seconds
@@mikesunboxing Win10 optimal boot time is 8-10s. Many comparisons out there showing the Gigabyte Aorus boards are 8-10C cooler.
Hello i have a kingston 1t m.2ssd that was around 50 bucks and i wanted to know if i can install a much quicker kingston fury 2t m.2 in the other slot without any issues?
yes that should be fine, it is very rare that you will need to reach the highest transfer speeds unless you are benchmarking, in normal use it will be fine
you said that the second m.2 port is gen4x2 what does that mean? and why can I only find gen 4x4 pcies?
the slot is gen 4 but only x2 bandwidth where almost all drives are X4 so the drive will likely run a little slower than it could
could you help me out i am building with this motherboard and i cant find where to plug the JUSB2 from my PC case onto this board

Mike does the msi b550m pro vdh wifi have built in wifi? The only option I get is to plug in a Ethernet cable. There is no network connectors. I installed the latest bios as well.
yes it does the gold coloured screw threads should have antenae attached, although there are non wifi versions of that board
@@mikesunboxing Yeah that is the one I have, Im getting a Bluetooth error code 43 so could that be the problem?
@@mikesunboxing I got it working. The intel drivers didn’t work so I just installed the amd ones, should I now install the intel ones? Or I don’t need to.
I've been having a lot of trouble getting Bluetooth to work. The wireless works but not the Bluetooth. Windows doesn't even recognize it. Otherwise really liking this board
did you use the bluetooth driver from the MSI site?
I'm making a custom loop for computer cooling and I would like to connect a temperature sensor to the board but I couldn't identify its position, do you know if it supports it?
most temp sensors use the internal USB 2.0 header i think
Mate is crazy how mobo is expensive in uk ,I choose tomahawk b650 because offers max for good price, and is second my tomahawk
Would you recommend this motherboard for 9700x cpu and 4090 gpu?
Asking because all components coming today and just wanted to know if is OK to start building new tower or sended back and get different motherboard?
Thanks
I have just upgraded to this motherboard but dont know to much about m.2, i have installed everything but cant get my m.2 drive with my operating system to appear on the bios, my m.2 drive is = WD Green 240GB M.2 2280 SATA 3D NAND SSD/Solid State Drive
Is this compatible or have i just unleashed myself into a world of issues? Any help will be most apretiated
you might need to enable CSM in the bios
In the top ssd slot with heatsink could a 990 2tb ssd fit and in bottom right heatsink slot would a 990 1 tb fit
yes to both

no the mechanism is really strong and rigid, the pins on the other hand.
@@mikesunboxing great, thank you!
Mike very down on stickers 😐
what pc case would u recommend for this
that is a really open ended question. gamemax F15 mesh, phanteks p400a fractal mesh, msi 100r
Would the 4070 and a 7 5800x3d run great on this motherboard?!! 😁
sounds good to me
5800X3D is AM4 not AM5 so nope
What’s the max ram speed limit for this board?
currently 8000 i think, or 7200. It changes almost every BIOS update
It supports 128 DDR5 but up to what frequency?
depends on the ram configuration and how many sticks used
i bought this motherboard from amazon and i cant get the board to boot up even the bios. i cant even get it to power up once i connect the cpu 8pin connection to power supply. if i have just the 24pin ATX connected to power supply i get the red cpu and amber memory on the ez debug led and fan on power supply comes on but no bios on screen i cant even flash the bios from usb once i connect the power supply cpu 8 pin to motherboard if just the 24pin ATX connected to board i get white bios light flash slow the about 5 seconds then speed up for about 5 mins then board restarts itself is there something wrong with my motherboard?

considering getting this motherboard but the msi specs say its x2
i would say 4x as my elgato camlink pro needs x4 and i use that form streaming
@@mikesunboxing Ok cool, I was planning to put a 3060ti on it, and 4.0x4 shouldn't bottleneck it too much
