    This was 200X harder than the video let’s on to be. Maybe it was just my truck but the plastic cap holders are an absolute nightmare to move. With that said, thanks for posting and letting me know where to start.

      Sorry to hear that. I have removal tools that made it easier but the liner is very hard plastic and hard to bend into a place for it to hold. This video was made about 6 months ago and I honestly can't remember all the details of the replacement.

    I can’t say for sure about for Ford, but years back I had an ‘11 Sierra that would eat through those Silverstar bulbs every 4-6 months. Turns out the issue was that for DRL’s, they ran a super low voltage wire to them. Unplugged the fuse for DRL’s and the bulbs lasted the remaining 2 years I had the truck.

    Many people do the H11 to H9 upgrade for the low beams. Check it out on line.

    What a PITA to change bulbs. Makes me wish that I still had my '11 F350 that all you needed to do is pull the grill's 5 screws and a couple other headlight bucket fasteners to remove the entire assembly.
    With that said, I gave up on Silverstars when one set lasted ~3 months and moved tp Phillips Crystalvision or Extreme Vision. The same kind and amount of light and they lasted for at least 3 years with the last set still working 6 years later when that truck went down the road to a new owner

    Do you ever get flashed with just the low beams? Are they offensively bright to other drivers? Im thinking of removing my led because i think mine are

      Check to make sure they aren't pointing too high. The dims should be pointed lower and slightly to the right so it's not directly in the others cars view.

    Idk why they dont make the whole headlight assembly just slide out like the tailights do on many cars now

      It does come out, be you have to remove the grill and half the bumper to get them out...lol

      @@offtheshelfrides yah I saw that I guess that's half successful? If we can just finish that and not have to take apart the whole front end, maybe that's asking for too much 😆

    Thank you, this is encouraging. But you forgot to mention what size ratchet I’ll need to remove those shrouds. Or that I’ll need to twist the lightbulb in place. It’s all just a bit vague. 🙏🏽

      Sorry, it was one of my early videos. I didn't really have it down to get sizes. Plus my audio was playing over my talking...lol

    So are the H11 bulbs the low beam and the 9005 high beam?

    So, why didn't you turn the wheel to full lock to afford yourself more room to work?

    You forgot to mention the 3 torx screws holding the bulb into the housing, this is from the factory and it makes this job even more disgusting 😢

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  Рік тому +2

      I didn't have any screws holding the bulb in, just took the dust cover off and a half twist and the bulb came out.
