It's a crime that these guys are NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their bias against progressive rock is so evident. Supertramp is generational and timeless at the same time. Brilliant!

John Bonhams favorite group which is high praise indeed. Supertramp was loaded with percussion. Rick became a master percussionist before he moved over to drum on the piano. So, you know Bob Siebenberg had to be great. Rick as a youngster started off faking the organ in order to get a job. Supertramp is the perfect blend of blue sky Michael Jackson played by Roger mixed with a more heavy grounded Black Sabbath played by Rick - the main difference being that Roger not only could play an instrument, but multiple ones.

It's not when you were born that matters most.
It's how the music impacts your soul. Does it grip you, envelope you in its melodies, does it move you, groove you and suit "your cup of tea."
How does it all travel within, delight you, embrace you, cause you to sin.
      Matters not what your age
Let the music 🎶 🎵 dance within thee
      And bring out your glee.
      For matters most
      Is the impact within thee.

Please stop saying they were “underrated”. They were huge and deservedly so! Then time went by, as it does, and new trends and new talent comes along and it becomes their time to shine. Rinse, lather, repeat. It always has been that way and always will. Otherwise music would have never moved past Frank Sinatra, teenybopper music in the 50’s and Elvis. It’s not like it lessens their legacy one bit.

What crazy my friends is the downgrade in musical talent is across the board.
I'm a 1964 model guy & do grew up with great Pop Rock bands like this - heard & enjoyed them all through about 1985.
Then I transitioned largely to Christian Rock, Alternative scene.
Guess what, the decline was over in that musical sub-culture as well...the 70-80-90 early 2000 had amazing Christian Rock artists but it's all declined & now you can't tell one song or artist from another.
Uh, crass commercialization, centralized ownership, a fake diversity ethic that is actually "rank conformity" in drag, all of the above have killed the actually musical diversity & competition that allowed best most creative artists to rise.
Now, we have "music by bureaucratic Fiat"
      Blah blah blah.
      Guess what I do ?
Keep playing my Pop, Rock Alternative & Jesus Rock classics like they're Top 40s !

Except for a brief tidal wave when Limp Bisket played break stuff and kid rock played Bawitabaw at Woodstock 99.

The last minutes of this song have always been the happiest 2 minutes of music in my life - Total jam session of good vibes - when radio stations would neglect to play it I never understood!!!

Yeah, this is the album cut. Complete mime job and lip sync. This isn't a live performance, unfortunately.

The piano break intro to the chorus is a stroke of genius, too. And yeah, the guitar outro is another.

@@russellgodding9568 You can find this online from sources. (the guy who produced the show was associated with some venues I played.) The Midnight Special was noted for featuring musical acts performing live, which was unusual since most television appearances during the era showed performers lip-synching to prerecorded music.
