As several below have commented, Judith Durham's voice is displayed here classically....such incredible range. She is truly one of the greatest all-time female singers. Don't think there is anyone today who can hold a candle to her.
Judith totally took command of the "boys". She keeps them on track and in sync. The sheer column of her choice overtakes them and bursts with energy and life. Fantastic voice, happy to have found them and that they continued to produce songs and performed together until Judith's death. What a legacy she left behind for all of us to discover anew.
The world loves Judith, she is fine wine! What s stunningly beautiful lady! Along with Dame Shirley, the greatest female singer ever! You are one of the wonders of the world Judith.
Can't really disagree , the guys back Judith so well ... but she IS a truly great singer , and great singers like this will always stand out from the pack.
The Seekers are such great musicians. They never cease to amaze me - there is so much talent there. Their repertoire is so vast and they are so good, I can listen for hours!
Oh how beautiful... one of my Seekers' favorites. That crystal-clear, clean, strong, sheer MUSICAL voice of Judith's - I love her. God bless you, Judith, may you sing for many years yet!
Their harmony and great musicianship represented a perfect vessel for accomplished and aspiring songwriters to write songs for. The song "Massachusetts" was written especially for them by the Bee Gees, but the members of the group never knew this at the time. This particular song would have immediately introduced and endeared the Seekers to the American audience in a most fundamental and significant way. Judith would have had thousands of red blooded American males interested in her and she surely would have had to change her phone number.
Mine too! There is only ONE Judith Durham and ONE SEEKERS! This is because the world can only take so much pure talent at one time! I LOVE THE SEEKERS!!!
A friend turned me on to The Seekers a few months ago and am I so grateful for that. This performance has become my favorite particularly when not only hearing Judith but watching her body motions. Every inch of her exudes music moving in rhythm with each note. Even though I was around when they were in their prime, I missed knowing of them and that is one of my biggest regrets with now only being able to hear and see them on recordings like this. Thank's you so much Denny.
As a musician I can hear that while her voice is magic, without the harmonies and carefully understated guitar riffs it simply wouldn't have worked so well. Generally I despise strummers like those buskers you see (and unfortunately hear) everywhere, but in this band they blended it as part of the overall sound and it works. Jimi Hendrix needed his guitar to sing for him because he couldn't. They have someone who can. The Seekers are so good because they've got it exactly right.
Agree. Note she never prospered as much outside this setting. A soloist is as much an actor as a singer, and after she left it took her awhile to develop a stage presence that matched the quality of her voice. She was, after all, still quite young.
I am not a musician but I have listened to a lot of operatic singing. There is no doubt that even great singers need instrumental accompanyment to voice. Rare pieces can be sung without it. With Judith Durham the same happens. As said in other comments, in the seekers case outstanding results are obtained, thanks to Keith's work on the harmonies and their remarkable guitar playing. Many people also highlight Athols bass playing. It seems clear that the natural direction of Judith's career in the 1970s should have been the musicals in the east end on London and elsewhere but she never tried that. I wonder there was a permanent threat of her lung condition to worsen if she did musicals but there are no comments about this in her biography. She opted for small venues accompanied by her husband or their jazz band collaborators. This was a road that would not lead to celebrity but Judith was clearly happy with that since she never sought for a celebrity lifestyle.
Me too. Sometimes I'll just start playing their songs on youtube in the evening and before I know it, it's late and I've had a WONDERFUL evening smiling, singing and bopping away. I LOVE them!
If you transported the Seekers to today, Judith would be utilised as a keyboard player, forming a modern Seekers' repertoire. However their style was suited to the 60s. Folk singing was waining in the late 60s. All very talented musicians.
Whoever posted this concert (almost in it's entirety!), a deep 'thank you.' HD's stunning, as is the sound. This was the 1st record I owned when I was little (my dad worked at a radio station, and brought them home). Not gonna bemoan how the music, life was better (it was), but, it brings back wonderful, memories, for me - and, apparently many others. THIS is what 'sharing' on the internet's about. Not 'tweeting' every bit of nonsense. But sharing with others. Cheers!
When I found this on UA-cam a short while ago it was the first time I ever heard it. I was only 10 at the time of this performance but I had already been listening to music for a couple of years (thanks to an older brother). I remember Georgie Girl on the radio, and most of their other hits I heard over the years. I cannot believe that I missed this gem. Did it not get air play in Canada?
I like the quicker pace here, as compared with on "Seen in Green". An amazing effort considering their time together would be over in about 10 minutes.
Hear hear - U N Owen - my sentiments exactly - I don't do tweet and I don't do Facebook - this is my site - I love listening to 60's music - it was and still is the best!!!
Oh Judith unbelievable two years had past since youv'e been gone. You are so missed beautiful lady.♥♥♥🌹🌹🌹😭😭😭
I was 12yrs old in 1968 what a song I am 67yrs old I play three times a day .

I'm just thankful for UA-cam for making it possible for us to hear this marvelous voice even after Judith has left us, her voice hasn't.
For my parents who would be about 75 if they were alive.
They knew how important true love and loyalty is is.
Patience,kindness and passion in loyalty
Judith was a powerhouse!!! What a pure, beautiful voice she packed so much in he small frame. Great group, thanks for sharing them again.
No voice like Judith...love her beautiful voice,it rings like a bell.❤
I can't get enough from this wonderful lady.Fortunately she left us many songs.
My heart is truly broken now that Judith has passed us by. Her voice will never be forgotten.

Set this as the ringtone on my phone for when my wife calls. The words ring so true.
The world loves Judith, she is fine wine! What s stunningly beautiful lady! Along with Dame Shirley, the greatest female singer ever! You are one of the wonders of the world Judith.
They are all phenominal! Glasgow 50th concert was a wonderful night and we were privileged to be there.
I love how Athol Guy is almost dancing with his bass the whole time. It makes the performance come more alive for me.😊
Ma'am you had so much laughter in your eyes.
the clarity of judiths naturally musical voice allows you to hear every single word she sings. amazing and beautiful
Justifiable praise for Judith's voice but please give the lads more credit; their harmonies are superb!
absolutely!
Can't really disagree , the guys back Judith so well ... but she IS a truly great singer , and great singers like this will always stand out from the pack.
As is Bruce Woodley's songwriting ability.
Those wonderful The Seekers. Unforgettable atmosphere of the 60's goombay

RIP Judith. You will always be immortal and never be forgotten.
And yes, their harmonies and arrangements are gold standards!
NOBODY sounds as good this or looks as good as Judith Durham these days long live the Seekers
This is the only group I've ever heard that still sounds as good as they did back then. Simply amazing! Great song...
I agree and then some. I think they sound better today than in the 1960's !
I agree they are amazing, but my heart ached when I heard that Judith had departed this life.

They were and still are the most enjoyable musical group to listen to. Thanks for who ya'll were to your fans.
Beautiful guitars
Fabuloso! A singer with style, clarity and talent.
RIP Judith. You will be missed.
What a find!
Amazing! Can't tell where Judith's voice rests--seems comfortable throughout the entire range of human singing.
In Australia In 1963 there was Sony Liston and Cassius Clay, president Kennedy, Polly Farmer and the Seekers!
The lads and this beautiful lady Judith are awesome. God bless them
they seem to be enjoying this performance as much as iam listening to it x
Such wonderful harmony.
Makes a change especially in the 60s a woman takes the lead and the best voice ever
I haven't heard this song in a hundred years (exaggeration). Excellent performance. The seekers are the best.
One of my favorite Seekers songs. It has a good "beat" and they seem like they really like performing it.
Judith Durham and Agnetha Faltskog...the best female voices ever!
I love it
Where did that natural vibrato come from...Only the heavens know.
And it got better as she got older.
The wonderful Aussie Group!~~~The Seekers!! Love is Kind Love is Wine!!!
I love that cushion of sound accompanying them for this performance!

Having heard this for a few short months (I missed it growing up) I think this MIGHT have become my favourite Seekers song.

Great song , the boys certainly play their part , but it's undeniably Judith Durham who makes this great song really 'bounce'!
Absolutely love this!! Great energized performance by The Seekers!
