Just a quick tip to try and keep your Ninja clean. Add 2 heaped teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda onto the crisper plate which is sat inside the combi pan. I used around 2 tablespoons of lemon juice out of a yellow lemon juice bottle, or use 1 lemon cut into quarters. Pour a kettle of boiling water into the combi pan and place into level 1. Set to steam and the time to 40 minutes. This should hopefully clean your Ninja interior. Just wipe out with a damp cloth, but don't get burnt. Your combi pan should be full of brown liquid or dry, which cleans away easily with warm soapy water. Hope this helps.
I would really like to know how much steam this kicks out? Can it be placed below a wall cupboard? Or could it do with being near an extractor fan?? I have and LOVE the 15 in 1
Wow. What an underrated video! You put so much time and food unto this. Do you still use the Combi today, or have more specialized tools taken over again (air fryer, conventional oven, microwave)
I hung on to the Combi for a bit and then sold it on. The probelm is we have quite a small kitchen at the moment and new appliances coming in every day, I won't to hang on to a lot of them, but I either hang on to my husband or the appliances! 😂
Great clear description and demonstration, thank you. I have to admit to finding the lack of detail in the Ninja booklet, irritating. I understand so much more about the functionality of the oven from watching your videos.
i recently moved to a flat with no oven. my parents got me the ninja combi as a present and i am so excited to use it! honestly i need more recipes for this thing. good to know the recipe book it comes with is only partly good
Great upload, please keep the Combi recipes going 👌 One question regarding the sourdough in your previous upload, do you preheat combi or cold on combi bake setting
I always cook sour dough from cold whether in the Combi or the main oven, mostly because if I wait for anything to heat up there's a real danger I will wander off and get distracted by something! ;-)
Thanks for your clear demonstration. I am in the middle of deciding whether to buy one as there is only two of us. Do you it’s suitable for smaller families.
This is a good question, the only hurdle is cooking rice/pasta first the combi meals where it is hard to reduce quantities in the big dish. I came to the conclusion you would have to buy a smaller non-stick dish to put in the large combi pan to do it, but other than that yes.
Does anyone know if I can heat up a soup on this? Like I would in a microwave? And can I cook roasties in there? Which settings would I use for both? Thanks
Thank you for this and other great videos! I am new to this type of appliance. QQQ - if we source a recipe from elsewhere (our own or a cookbook), do we still use the heat and timing instructions in the recipe when using the combi machine, or do we have to make some adjustments?? Thank you
If you wanted to cook for 1 or two people, how would I adjust the information in the supplied guide? 400g rice for one person is a bit OTT for example.
Would you recommend this or an air fryer oven instead? (No baking, mostly cooking chicken and veggies). The idea of the combi sounds great but worried about the lack of recipes out there to make the combi meal functions real worth it. Greta video. Thanks!
Dear Clara, what would you suggest for a small 2+2 family to start their own healthy cooking (small kitchen with not enough space for multiple devices)? One of air fryers or this combi cooker? it looks very versatile, maybe more than regular airfryer? My one concers with airfryers is their antistick layer (both on the baskets and on the insides of those devices), I preffer enamel or steel. I have seen many reviews of airfryers, but this combi creature is not that popular. Can it do everything that airfryer can plus its own tricks (baking, steam cooking etc)?
Yes it can do everything an air fryer can, but be aware the combo pan still has a non-stick coasting. Very hard to recommend a particular model, but you won’t go wrong with Ninja, Cosori or Philips 😁
It will, the limitation may be finding the right size yorkshire pudding tin to fit. If your family is anything like mine, half quantities of yorkshires would not go down well!
@@CandidClara Thanks for the reply👍 I am toying with the 10-1 which is more oven/air-fry and can fit regular oven trays but apparently it’s a nightmare to keep clean and not wholly reliable. I suppose I could use the air fry dish on the Combi to make a couple of massive yorkies and carve them up? Decisions decisions😬. It is mostly for solo cooking so I am veering toward this model.
you've got my thumbs up, to be sure! but in buying this thing, i would just assume that it's an accessory, rather than a main implement. it may be able to do some pretty cool stuff, but, it's just a tool for the aside,. i would still use the burners on the oven to do my prep for the higher BTU's. right? or is this thing just a glorified toaster oven?
I really can't see what this brings to the game. Good use of a microwave and air fryer (and even pressure cooker) combo will get equal if not better results.
Unless I’m being even more stupid than usual, what I don’t get and I have tried different combos of water, is when you try cutting the recipe down for 2 people, it just doesn’t work. The rice ends up sticking to the bottom of the pan. The booklet just mentions, very briefly, that you could cut the recipe in half but that would still have made it far too much, as it was for 6 to 8 servings - no mention of how you adjusted the water amounting proportion to the main ingredients. Can anybody help?
@@CandidClara More than one thing can be correct at the same time. The lactic acid in milk can tenderize meat and its higher pH can balance the acidity of the tomatoes as well. It also adds fat to make the sauce richer and creamier and gives it a smoother mouthfeel. It's not a necessary ingredient but it does make a noticeable difference and I prefer my Bolognese with it. I should add that I've never made it with the Ninja and always use my Dutch oven as I think a long slow cook in an open pot is necessary to evaporate the water from the milk to leave the tasty solids behind as well as to concentrate flavours.
HAHA! I forgot adding salt 2 times to my breadmachine and overmeasured liquid 3 times. :D Sticking? Thoose are FUSED with the plate! LOL But you can give me one of thoose baked on the paper. :o Let me have a RANT! Why they supply recipe booklets when they sure, not tested? Do they just think hmm it should work let's set it to print? They working against themselves, big time. It would be my dream job to make recipes for appliances, so if Ninja are reading this wink wink....
Isn't it crazy how bad bread tastes when you forget the salt? I agree about the untested recipes, but I wonder if it's backed up with research, do they perhaps know that most people don't cook from it?! I'm not sure, but perhaps they know something we don't! I like doing everything properly, but maybe that's why I'm not a squillionaire? 😂
It doesnt work if u want to cook w healthy, non processed food. I dont want a cake mix, or a tube of biscuits, or any other poison groc store food. So how do I cook it? I have no desire to waste home raised, home grown or such over and over to perfectthe recipe. I dont use BRANDS. So what youre telling me on recipe 1 is I cant use what I want to use. Cant decide of I want to return this thing or n9t. Christmas gift.

Never made mac and cheese w any floue ever. Oven stuff. I do made a white sauce which is thinkened with a touch of flour. Thats it.

I had mine beneath a cupboard and it didn't cause any problems

A new one every week at the moment!

There’s a lot of variables in that, I think you’ll have to just give it a go and see what works x
If you wanted to cook for 1 or two people, how would I adjust the information in the supplied guide? 400g rice for one person is a bit OTT for example.
I think you would have to put a smaller dish inside the cooking pan and adjust quantities accordingly, not very satisfactory is it?
Would you recommend this or an air fryer oven instead? (No baking, mostly cooking chicken and veggies). The idea of the combi sounds great but worried about the lack of recipes out there to make the combi meal functions real worth it. Greta video. Thanks!
I think air fryers are really simple and straightforward and therefore probably get more use in the long run
On the fajitas, I just wouldn't cook but half those onions and peppers. They are mainly to flavor and not everyone who puts them on the taco.

I agree, thanks for the comment
Re the milk....The calcium and lactic acid in milk react with enzymes in the meat to soften the proteins. And what you said.
Thanks 😁
One thing I rely on my regular oven for is Yorkshire puds and scones, would the Combi cope with that?

how to airfry chips
I think that requires a longer video! Many factors to consider…
I really can't see what this brings to the game. Good use of a microwave and air fryer (and even pressure cooker) combo will get equal if not better results.
The steam function for baking is great though (sorry, I go on about that a lot! 😆)
@@CandidClara I bake bread in my air fryer, and a little water in the bottom does the same for me or am I missing something?

You add milk to the beef mince to tenderise it, I was informed by a chef.
I was told it's to counteract the acidity of the tomatoes, so I guess there are multiple theories 🤷
