Gotta love dumb easter eggs. One of my favourites is in The Evil Within 2. When you're levels away from the first safehouse, you can travel all the way back to it and try to convince your contact O'Neal to come outside and help. He'll say, "No way. It's f***ing EVIL out there," to which you as Sebastian reply in a deadpan voice, "That may be, but there's EVIL WITHIN, TOO." Then both O'Neal and Sebastian look directly at the camera for a good solid moment, before O'Neal finally tells you, "Whatever," and refuses to leave.
Spoiler: for Hitman 3, the hippo is foreshadowing Diana’s betrayal. The dance of death refers to her having placed a poison device on him and betraying him after a tango they do while blending in at the end of a mission. Although in the end, she was helping to place him where he needed to be to kill a target by doing that. Blood Money style.
in portal 2 when you escape wheatley's trap he tells you to stop and come back. if you actually do come back he states that the trap cannot be reactivated and desperately tries to convince you to jump into a hole near the trap. if you decide to jump you will hear wheatley relieved that it actually worked and you also get get an achievement

The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe is the only game that not only survived development hell and wasn’t disappointing on launch, but also exceeded everyone’s expectations and was worth waiting every day it was postponed.
Well the game is fun for a bit, but the price of the game for what the players got left a bit of bad taste in my mouth. I was not that impressed with the new endings, or dialogue that required the bucket. The bucket becoming a thing felt pretty lazy to me, and I certainly thought something more clever or creative would've happened in the 3+ plus years of development the game had. At least that's my opinion. I also disliked having to restart my game to get back to the memory zone or other areas. Which should've been a feature since day one.
One of my favorite easter eggs is from The Cursed Crusade. After opening enough coffers in the game, your partner Estaban will ask why they're opening the coffers and what do they get our of them then the other character Dentz will say, " Well isn't that an achievement in itself" shortly after you get an achievement. Just a fun 4th wall breaking easter egg.
One of my favorites is in Wolfenstein: The New Order. If you flush the toilet up stairs a few times, in succession or throughout the game, you begin to question your sanity because you keep doing it.
Man, and I thought the Serious Sam 4 football match thing was a fever dream. I encountered that secret by accident on my first playthrough and laughed so hard I dropped my mouse on the floor (mouse is okay)
Best Easter Egg I personally found was in Skyrim Remaster for PS4. The cart was tipped over and all it's contents were spilled out on the road. Cabbages. A cart full of cabbages tipped over on the road and spilled everywhere. No note, no lore book, no NPC, just a cart and cabbages. if you know, you know.
Avatar the Last Airbender, "Noooo! Not my cabbages!" Cabbage merchant had it rough. Every time he was on screen his cart full of cabbages got destroyed.
One of my favorites is in "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl," where you come across a body with a gasmask lying on a cot named Gordon Freeman. I think it's in one of the initial towns in which you spawn.
The Tannis Fish easter egg has been there since bl1. It was there just before rakk hive in bl1 and sawtooth cauldron in bl2. I'm not sure about the pre sequel, but no one talks about the pre sequel so its fine.
You should try the original Red Faction, the later games...not so much. I loved how all weapons had alternative fire modes. Really fun split screen multiplayer, if online was viable for the PS2 we might be looking at a different FPS landscape today.

Question: How is the infinite hole in Stanley Parable UD an easter egg or secret? You're intended to play around with that hole, just as you're intended to find the comfort of the bucket. Now, an easter egg would be the bottom of the monitor room without the bucket.
its an easter egg in the same sense as the cod zombies easter eggs are how you progress in the aforementioned mode, 98% of easter eggs are meant to be found, just like the scarab guns in the og halo 2, just like the skulls, an easter egg is little more than a spot of fun on the devs part that can be of use, is made to be used or is simply just a little joke, like the golden spork

And as I stated, not all easter eggs are "hidden" per se, however, they Are side content Or things not meant for the average player. Being self referential isn't an easter egg either, not unless that instance is side content or hidden dialogue(again "hidden" meaning not easily found). I’m pretty sure the Hippo in Hitman is actually supposed to be a sort of prophet who sort of hints at the future events. When he references the “dance of death” he’s talking about the part where you dance with Diana in the second last level.
In Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom pain, kind of like the first entry there’s a caution sign in the mother base showing someone getting hit with falling debris and if you stand next to it long enough you will get hit with a box. There’s also a radio that plays sounds of PT and plenty of other Easter eggs in MGS
One of my favorites is skipping the credits to Summoner, to reveal a hilarious DnD skit. It used the character models from Summoner and Red Faction, but it always makes me laugh. "Ogres? Man I got an Ogreslaying Knife, its got a +9 against ogres."
Summoner 2 had a somewhat hard to get to easter egg about the "Hall of Blasphemers" which takes you to a mockup of the developer's studio and outside there is a tornado with cows in it among other things.
The teddy bear just made me think of the original Warcraft game. If you clicked the sheep too often they tended to explode also. Most of the other units had lines for over poking. or the actual audio tracks/songs filling up the CD-Rom the game came on, so you could pop it in the CD-Player. There were a few games that did that kind of bonus track thing.
I don’t know if anyone on the Gameranx crew will see this, but since you’re my go-to gaming channel, I’d love to see you guys talk about more vintage games (think 80s-early 2000s) and underrated franchises that didn’t get to shine in the spotlight like other games (Like syphon filter compared to MGS).
11:13 during this Easter egg you will hear the developer voices screaming on Croatian: Dobra (wich means good) and Igraj (wich means play). Serious Sam is the Best FPS series devloped in Croatia by Croteam.
My favorite gaming easter egg will ALWAYS be Halo Reach's Dance club. I still remember my dad searching for the switches and when he walked into the mall all the Covenant was dancing out to some halo remix song with the brutes being the DJs. And the best part being when you killed one of them the music just stops with that screeching noise and they all stare at you for a few seconds before they start shooting.
A great Easter egg in Last of Us 2 is when you find the ring from the Uncharted series (it's a very subtle find) But my all time favorite Easter egg is the giant fire breathing chicken in Gears of War 3
that tiny car reminded me a hitman easter egg (think it is in 2nd or 3rd game) where when you feed a dino toy several times you can actually ride a dino child toy later
In the original Stanley Parable, I think the broom closet is just as goofy and fun an easter egg. The infinity hole is like that, but on steroids, now that I think of it.
The don't look up reminds me of a game I played on a TRS-80. Asylum had a note that said "Look up" that you could use as a weapon against an axe-wielding maniac. A piano would fall on him, as it would to you if you decided to look up.
In Hitman the hippo talks about the Mendoza mission: wine is poured - it is at a wineyard, dance with Diana - how the misison may end, and of course the staged betrayal of Diana - you cannot trust anyone.
Dying Light also had a flaming sword you could obtain by holding the grab button for several minutes, a secret Mario level, a secret Plants vs Zombies garden and much more. They also have a weeping angel in the daycare basement... I knew I had a weird feeling that something was off with that statue.

awesome video, I haven't found any easter eggs recently, but I found a way to get past skyrims border next break the map, and finally made my way back sadly no easter eggs that I saw but it's nice seeing the map from Below 🤣
Another thing about the toy jeep, or any toy vehicle, in Just Cause 4 is if you get your Heat level, (wanted level), up the Black Hand will come after you in their own toy vehicles. While the game was a disappointment for me, I will give credit where credit is do. That's a nice and funny touch.
Summoner got a very quick mention during the Red Faction segment. There’s an Easter egg in that game featuring the characters of summoner as well as the red faction guy playing D&D
Summoner had an easter egg that involved characters from their games playing D&D. Mass Effect Andromeda, giant cheese wheel in space which Ryder acknowledges existing.
The Tannis thing from Borderlands 3 started in BL1 doing pretty much the same thing, shooting some barrels and it's just Tannis on a fish. then in BL2 happens again, and again shoot some barrels and it's just Tannis on a fish. the cool thing in BL3 is that they added the fish attack.
So that football game in Serious Sam 4 actually can be helpful. Theres a Sam clone behind one goal in the stands and a Mental Mate clone behind the opposite goal in the stands and depending on which team scores they will throw health and armor pickups out onto the field for you.
I think one of the weirdest easter eggs I'd ever encountered was in Deus Ex 2. As far as I know, it can't be accessed in game as I've never seen it documented anywhere. I found it by playing around in some resource snooping app to dig around in the game files. It had the option to listen to sound resources, so I played them in Winapp (yes, it was _that_ long ago) while seeing what else I could find. Usually, it stops at the end of the sound file, but at the end of one of the songs from the band who did the soundtrack Winapp kept playing. And things got...weird. There were recordings of conversations about random topics, each separated by a bell tone, and the rambling discussions just got more and more bizarre. I have no idea how long it goes on, as I stopped it after 10 minutes of that nonsense. Sorry, I don't recall which app I'd used or which of the songs this was in. I think it was the last one listed in the app. I do know that to find the egg, the sound resource was started from the app (not extracted) and played from the beginning without skipping ahead or pausing. Otherwise, the glitch won't occur and Winapp will stop at the correct ending of the file.
I'm pretty sure the Pink Teddy bear in Dying Light was a reference to the twin stick shooter game called Zombie Apocalypse. One of the weapons you can get is a pink Teddy bear. And when you throw it, it talks attracts zombies. It will say something like "I'm full of love!...and C4" before exploding

There's a few in Maniac Mansion, You can send the high pitched tape or the tape of the broken record to Mark Eteer, You can also give the high pitched tape to green tenticle, If you're playing Syz or Razor You can explode the hamster in the microwave and even give it back to its owner afterwards, You can also get Meteor a publishing contract and send the police after him so he gets arrested whilst giving an interview on live TV.
One of my favorites is the workout mixtape in Commander Zavala’s office in destiny two. I crouched up and down for seven minutes and never regretted it. Well until my “B” button broke the next day. Edit: How did I almost forget that they also posted it on their YT. Which is hilarious because they are acknowledging that they also love the Easter egg.
In Sierra's "Lords of the Realm 2," if you look at the files on the disc, you can get a song that doesn't appear in the game. The artist who made the score did a conglomeration of all the voices in the game to a hip-hop beat. It was called "Setup2."
Interesting story bit: Number 10, the "Don't Look Up" sign gag in The Talos Principle, is a homage to an old Looney Toons gag from the "The High and the Flighty" cartoon, where Barnyard Dog pulls this stunt on Foghorn Leghorn.
Guys I know you think those games you see in those ads are fake but today I found it. Apparently there is a link when the commercial plays and it’s amazing. The game is called Fallout NV and it’s totally gonna come to the Switch.
Old games have some large video files in them, so a revolving CD has the last physical part (the middle of the CD) filled with something that doesn't contribute to the game much. This is made to reduce loading times, so the laser doesn't have to travel to the middle in search of data, it can be done on the outside of the disc. That last music video must have been one of those.
Not really an easter egg, but in Half Life 2, there's a Vortigaunt that you encounter, I think it's during the mission with the airboat, and everytime you interact with him, he'll say something really random, and you can do that a whole lot of times before it starts to repeat. So they recorded like tons of lines of just nonsense for that Vortigaunt to say to you, lol.
Here’s another Gears of War Easter Egg (not sure if it’s been mentioned in previous videos): in Gears of War 2, near the end of the game, there’s this area with some chest level stone pillars with statues on them of something. If you melee a specific one, it breaks and there’s a toaster inside. It ejects toast and theres dialogue for Delta squad: Marcus: “WHO WANTS TOAST!?” Cole: “I like mine burnt” Dom: “crispy for me”
The "don't look up" Easter egg is actually a reference to the old C-64 game "Asylum", where whenever you actually looked up, a piano (!) would fall on your head (and you die).
Gameranx certainly does their homework, but I'm a little disappointed that we didn't see any special mention of the Five-Finger-Fillet access in Full Throttle (it's an entire minigame!) and the appearance of Sam and Max in Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight (or was it Mysteries of the Sith?) - Either way, Lucasarts had some amazing Easter Eggs, definitely should have been included.
Stanley’s parable is trying to let us question the true nature of real life itself. My take on earlier versions of it not having an ‘ending’ is that it is to let the players know, that they are the ones to take the initiative and decide when to stop playing or just keeps going in circles like in samsara.
There’s an Easter egg in Far Cry 5 behind the midwife’s house after the "Special Delivery" side mission where you have to flip over an upside down wheelbarrow to find a stack of cash and a dog collar on top of an unmarked grave.

Being self referential isn't an easter egg either, not unless that instance is side content or hidden dialogue(again "hidden" meaning not easily found).

The Talos Principle was a great gem of a game. The atmospheric/ambient music and an awesome problem solver.
In Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom pain, kind of like the first entry there’s a caution sign in the mother base showing someone getting hit with falling debris and if you stand next to it long enough you will get hit with a box. There’s also a radio that plays sounds of PT and plenty of other Easter eggs in MGS
One of my favorites is skipping the credits to Summoner, to reveal a hilarious DnD skit. It used the character models from Summoner and Red Faction, but it always makes me laugh.

A cool one for me its the sign in motherbase in mgsV that warns of falling boxes. If you stand there long, sure enough, you get a box to the head 🤣
Summoner 2 had a somewhat hard to get to easter egg about the "Hall of Blasphemers" which takes you to a mockup of the developer's studio and outside there is a tornado with cows in it among other things.
Teddy Bear one made me laugh.
Talking hippo is kind of creepy.
The teddy bear just made me think of the original Warcraft game. If you clicked the sheep too often they tended to explode also. Most of the other units had lines for over poking. or the actual audio tracks/songs filling up the CD-Rom the game came on, so you could pop it in the CD-Player. There were a few games that did that kind of bonus track thing.
I don’t know if anyone on the Gameranx crew will see this, but since you’re my go-to gaming channel, I’d love to see you guys talk about more vintage games (think 80s-early 2000s) and underrated franchises that didn’t get to shine in the spotlight like other games (Like syphon filter compared to MGS).
11:13 during this Easter egg you will hear the developer voices screaming on Croatian: Dobra (wich means good) and Igraj (wich means play). Serious Sam is the Best FPS series devloped in Croatia by Croteam.
My favorite gaming easter egg will ALWAYS be Halo Reach's Dance club. I still remember my dad searching for the switches and when he walked into the mall all the Covenant was dancing out to some halo remix song with the brutes being the DJs. And the best part being when you killed one of them the music just stops with that screeching noise and they all stare at you for a few seconds before they start shooting.
I also really like all the little easter eggs in Hunt: Showdown, like Forrest Gump, Bob Ross, the Monolith, and most of all: Shrek's swamp
The dying light one is kind of messed up if you think about it. An exploding teddy bear in a house full of kids.
A great Easter egg in Last of Us 2 is when you find the ring from the Uncharted series (it's a very subtle find)
But my all time favorite Easter egg is the giant fire breathing chicken in Gears of War 3

In the original Stanley Parable, I think the broom closet is just as goofy and fun an easter egg. The infinity hole is like that, but on steroids, now that I think of it.

The don't look up reminds me of a game I played on a TRS-80. Asylum had a note that said "Look up" that you could use as a weapon against an axe-wielding maniac. A piano would fall on him, as it would to you if you decided to look up.

In Hitman the hippo talks about the Mendoza mission: wine is poured - it is at a wineyard, dance with Diana - how the misison may end, and of course the staged betrayal of Diana - you cannot trust anyone.
For the Borderlands 3 easter egg that was shown, it's a throwback to the first game, where that same thing happens, so there's that!

The dancing soldiers in crysis 2 is a personal favorite of mine.
Dying Light also had a flaming sword you could obtain by holding the grab button for several minutes, a secret Mario level, a secret Plants vs Zombies garden and much more.
They also have a weeping angel in the daycare basement... I knew I had a weird feeling that something was off with that statue.

Another thing about the toy jeep, or any toy vehicle, in Just Cause 4 is if you get your Heat level, (wanted level), up the Black Hand will come after you in their own toy vehicles.
While the game was a disappointment for me, I will give credit where credit is do. That's a nice and funny touch.

The Tannis thing from Borderlands 3 started in BL1 doing pretty much the same thing, shooting some barrels and it's just Tannis on a fish. then in BL2 happens again, and again shoot some barrels and it's just Tannis on a fish. the cool thing in BL3 is that they added the fish attack.
Mercenaries 2: making a goal in the occupied
Football/soccer stadium. You get 100k a little fanfare and confetti and your partner says “nice shot”
So that football game in Serious Sam 4 actually can be helpful. Theres a Sam clone behind one goal in the stands and a Mental Mate clone behind the opposite goal in the stands and depending on which team scores they will throw health and armor pickups out onto the field for you.

I think one of the weirdest easter eggs I'd ever encountered was in Deus Ex 2. As far as I know, it can't be accessed in game as I've never seen it documented anywhere. I found it by playing around in some resource snooping app to dig around in the game files. It had the option to listen to sound resources, so I played them in Winapp (yes, it was _that_ long ago) while seeing what else I could find. Usually, it stops at the end of the sound file, but at the end of one of the songs from the band who did the soundtrack Winapp kept playing. And things got...weird. There were recordings of conversations about random topics, each separated by a bell tone, and the rambling discussions just got more and more bizarre. I have no idea how long it goes on, as I stopped it after 10 minutes of that nonsense.
Sorry, I don't recall which app I'd used or which of the songs this was in. I think it was the last one listed in the app. I do know that to find the egg, the sound resource was started from the app (not extracted) and played from the beginning without skipping ahead or pausing. Otherwise, the glitch won't occur and Winapp will stop at the correct ending of the file.
I'm pretty sure the Pink Teddy bear in Dying Light was a reference to the twin stick shooter game called Zombie Apocalypse. One of the weapons you can get is a pink Teddy bear. And when you throw it, it talks attracts zombies. It will say something like "I'm full of love!...and C4" before exploding
Good god. Please play with friends through the main story in Gears 5 with the mouth sounds on weapons! I've never laughed out Soo much in my life! We where laughing trough the hole story! Definitely the best time in my lifetime! Everyone needs this.
There's a few in Maniac Mansion, You can send the high pitched tape or the tape of the broken record to Mark Eteer, You can also give the high pitched tape to green tenticle, If you're playing Syz or Razor You can explode the hamster in the microwave and even give it back to its owner afterwards, You can also get Meteor a publishing contract and send the police after him so he gets arrested whilst giving an interview on live TV.
One of my favorites is the workout mixtape in Commander Zavala’s office in destiny two. I crouched up and down for seven minutes and never regretted it. Well until my “B” button broke the next day.

In Sierra's "Lords of the Realm 2," if you look at the files on the disc, you can get a song that doesn't appear in the game. The artist who made the score did a conglomeration of all the voices in the game to a hip-hop beat. It was called "Setup2."

Interesting story bit: Number 10, the "Don't Look Up" sign gag in The Talos Principle, is a homage to an old Looney Toons gag from the "The High and the Flighty" cartoon, where Barnyard Dog pulls this stunt on Foghorn Leghorn.

Old games have some large video files in them, so a revolving CD has the last physical part (the middle of the CD) filled with something that doesn't contribute to the game much. This is made to reduce loading times, so the laser doesn't have to travel to the middle in search of data, it can be done on the outside of the disc. That last music video must have been one of those.
The little Sams in Serious Sam playing football are shouting "Dobra, dobra" which means "Good one, good one". I guess they mean the ball.
Not really an easter egg, but in Half Life 2, there's a Vortigaunt that you encounter, I think it's during the mission with the airboat, and everytime you interact with him, he'll say something really random, and you can do that a whole lot of times before it starts to repeat. So they recorded like tons of lines of just nonsense for that Vortigaunt to say to you, lol.
Here’s another Gears of War Easter Egg (not sure if it’s been mentioned in previous videos): in Gears of War 2, near the end of the game, there’s this area with some chest level stone pillars with statues on them of something. If you melee a specific one, it breaks and there’s a toaster inside. It ejects toast and theres dialogue for Delta squad:
Marcus: “WHO WANTS TOAST!?”
Cole: “I like mine burnt”
Dom: “crispy for me”
Yeah!!! Fish-Rider! 🐟

The borderlands 3 easter egg is a direct tie to Borderlands 1 where they had that Easter egg of Tannis on a fish by a party boat.

Summoner also has a great Easter Egg. Press X during the credits and it's the characters doing a sketch by the Dead Alewives.
The "don't look up" Easter egg is actually a reference to the old C-64 game "Asylum", where whenever you actually looked up, a piano (!) would fall on your head (and you die).

Gameranx certainly does their homework, but I'm a little disappointed that we didn't see any special mention of the Five-Finger-Fillet access in Full Throttle (it's an entire minigame!) and the appearance of Sam and Max in Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight (or was it Mysteries of the Sith?) - Either way, Lucasarts had some amazing Easter Eggs, definitely should have been included.
Stanley’s parable is trying to let us question the true nature of real life itself. My take on earlier versions of it not having an ‘ending’ is that it is to let the players know, that they are the ones to take the initiative and decide when to stop playing or just keeps going in circles like in samsara.
