Hey guys, thanks for watching! Just wanted to update you and say that the winner claimed the prize. He picked out the Marathon GSAR Arctic. Thanks to everyone who entered. We can do another in the future.
What you do for the watch enthusiast community is just amazing, man. Educating people in such didactic, informal and pleasant way is a gift. Thank you.
Not exactly. Teddy is actually honest in his reporting and if he offers an opinion, he will let you know instead of getting marching orders each morning about what narrative to sell to people.
Taking a break from physics coursework to fuel my watch romance. Jomw and teddy uploads are the good ol' one-two punch of my daily watch about watches.
I was close friends with a physics and an electrical engineer major in college and they would always debate how each of their work was more stressful. Keep working away. You have a great career ahead.
I like small-sized watches as I grew up wearing them. Didn't really like the big style watches when they came in during the 1990s. Glad to see that there seems to be signs that watches are shrinking in size again. What comes around, goes around. I mean, we already had revivals of flared or bell-bottom pants from the 1970s!
Love the Alpinist. Many watches have come and gone but since discovering this watch on Reddit, it's survived so many waves of flipping. Its an amazingly versatile watch. Small and dressy on a leather, sporty on a nato or rubber, and bolder than a Rolex explorer or Hamilton Khaki. Somehow shouldn't work but it still does
I love them, but they get the same complaint I have with so many blue dials just being navy - too many are just forest green. I'd LOVE more mints or teals.
You are dead on with some of the trends. I like some and not a fan of others. I purchased a green dial this year and my next purchase will probably be a bronze watch…not sure of the brand yet. I have +8” wrists so the downsizing of cases does not match me well. The “branding “ of watches is not my thing either but I have friends that love them! Thank you Teddy for a great channel and the variety you cover.
I want more collabs. My two favorite watches of all time are the Timex Expedition from Shenmue which is what Ryo wears and the Seiko Sarb 033 whichi is similar to what Kiryu wears in the Yakuza games
Just watch trends or companies making watches that the market actually wants? Honestly, I love all these trends. Quick adjust slide bracelet? Check. 39mm watch and smaller? Check. Bronze watch? Check. Watches with associated pop culture IPs? Check. Got all of these in the collection. It's a good time to be a collector (unless you love Rolex).
Big fan of the bronze trend. As a Muslim, men aren’t allowed to wear gold jewelry. So I like the idea that there are going to be more options out there than just grey metals like steel and titanium.
I recently bought the Oris Big Crown 80th Anniversary edition. It’s in bronze & has a green dial. Think it’s one of the most beautiful attainable watches.
Teddy has been pumping hard, keep it up. Green really strikes a gd balance to match other colours. Black is common, blue can b cold and not as easy in colour matching. There is a reason RxxxX is adopting green as its brand colour. Oris candy green is spectacular.
I recently picked up a green bezel Citizen Promaster Diver (BN0155-08E) and I'm loving it. I normally wouldn't go for a green color on my watch but the black bezel and stainless steel case give me enough contrast to keep my attention. I'm not a big fan of too much green though so I'm glad the dial isn't green and it's black. Love your vids man. Keep up to he great work.
I'm planning to get a green dial, there's so many options, it's tough to come down to one! Something about green dials that makes them stand out, I suppose
Been a subscriber for a while but the quality of videos rocketed in the last year. Maybe this resulted in better sales figures? But really started recommending Teddy;s videos for everyone to watch. Well done.
Congratulations to the winner, and thank you for the contest =) As for my own likes / dislikes, i would say i mostly get stuck in not being able to fully pick or choose between all these brands. It comes down to money in the end, and as a one man business as a leathercrafter, oh the lifestyle is slim living to say the least. I would love to see more affordable brands getting the spotlight they deserve, instead of the 800k versions you know you will never even be in the same zipcode as. In the end, more beautiful watches on more wrists is a win for all.
Great video. Most disliked trend: Bronze that patinizes because I associate it with drowning. Bronze tone that stays clean, that's okay because it is a nice, warm colour but it isn't gold. Second: A 36mm Rolex?? My sweetspot is close around 40mm and anything much smaller makes me feel like a dweeb. I like green dials but.
The bronze trend has kind of a meta aspect to it that I find appealing. So much about watch collecting obsesses about value retention and pristine condition. Bronze watches are essentially designed to tarnish and oxidize--things that would horrify the "pristine" collector ethos. I kind of love that. I don't love the price premium, but I love the artistic statement.
3. I have the Citizen Black Panther chrono, and it is simultaneously subtle and stunning. 5. Just got an Aragon Matador 42, the bracelet has a sweet glide lock.
Green is my fav color. Unfortunately, I like about 5 of the 100 green dial watches I’ve seen. 2 of which I can afford. I am not a huge fan of the “money grab” of all the collaborations. Love the quick strap change options and it’s about da** time more bracelets adjusted their clasps and adjustments. I have nothing against bronze, but don’t plan on trying one out. I don’t think any non-public company needs to be transparent about production numbers. So that doesn’t bother me at all.
Green is one of those colors that we can see the most shades of as that was important to us while we lived in our non civilised phases back in the day, roaming the wilderness in search of animals to hunt and stuff to gather. Nature has all the shades of green. No wonder we find it deep and pleasing.
I really like the IW387902 the IWC Spitfire chronograph with bronze case and green dial. You had it in one of you shopping videos. It just comes together really nicely and balanced on that watch. Other brands seem to be forcing it and chasing hypes.
Congrats to Matthew on winning the comp. Re trends- I like green dials, I have the Sarb 017. So far I've resisted the bronze watch craze but like the look of some. Bracelets are quite often a let down with watches, especially Seikos so any improvements are a bonus. I don't mind the idea of cross-over/ pop culture branding but none have really resonated with me, however, I do like the idea of the Raymond Weil series of musical artist models but sadly I don't like the look of any of the watches. Great videos Teddy.
Not going to lie, a smaller trend isn't something I'm thrilled with. 42mm is about my minimum size. I wonder if it has to do with the small wrist group being more vocal. I read a lot more comments on watch vids/articles that seem to assume that the maker of the watch made a huge mistake by not making it a size or two smaller and that, as a result, nobody is ever going to buy the piece. I hope manufacturers aren't swayed by the calls for smaller is better as I do think there are enough of us sturdy folks to keep the larger watches housed.
Just bought the ml aikon and most watches I try on feel terrible on bracelet now. Even the omega SMP planet Ocean and 300 have terrible bracelets compared to it aswell
-I like *big* watches, but the movement must fill the watch case. That is why I like the Unitas 6498 movement. Beside that, the movement is very accurate, +1 second/day in both my watches (Victorinox Airboss Mach4, Steinhart) -*Brons* cases I like best on old style (pilot) watches, like my 'Nav. B-Uhr 42 Handaufzug Bronze schwarz' 107-0884
I hope bronze will stick around--more variety to metals used is always a good thing. Don't like it, don't buy it--simple. There's always steel, titanium or precious metals. When JLC or PP pick up on the green dial trend, you know we've reached peak green. I'm seeing more companies come out with more grey dials, so maybe that's the new trend next year.
I love my Seiko Recraft SNKP27. In sunshine, the sunburst green dial with the gold markers are gorgeous. The brown dial are my other fav. I really like my Vostok Amphibia 170964 too.
Hey Teddy. You should do a show on watches you’d buy based entirely on the movement. Pick three or four watches that you’d pick taking into account only the movement. Thought about this after your last video where commenters were surprised to learn the Daytona movement was once an El Primero.
The only green watch I would ever wear would be a rally style watch in Brittish Racing Green ala Frederich Constant's Healy. I agree that the Reverso Green worked well, but for me I'd choose the red as a true standout!
The biggest trend that is growing very quickly is the direct from brand to customer via online sales cutting out all the middle men, this has it’s pros and cons. Also micro brands as well as homage or copy type watches out of China is growing at an insane rate.
Very nice video like always! One trend that I hate and don’t understand is putting natos to every watch. I get that they are comfortable but visually they look awful on most watches, too much material protruding on the sides. For me instead of a nato you should go for a two piece nylon strap or similar material and you are going to have comfort and looks at the same time. Field watches looks good on natos thought!
Teddy, as an beginner watch enthusiast who wants to work at a watch shop to gain more knowledge, how should I go about impressing/convincing a pretty serious watch dealer to let me work for him?
Not a fan of the green fad but bronze, yeah, definitely a metal that I love to see as an option and I hope it continues...along with smaller sizes (6.5"/16.5mm wrist).
Japan looooooves doing collaborations with pop culture/anime/video game properties, even down to toilet paper and stationery. The Seiko Presage Porco Rosso edition looks glorious to me, though for now, I'll have to admire it from afar given its ludicrous price.
Great vid mate. Really valid points. Never put much thought on how all the green dial watches came out at the same time, conspiracy 🤔 But seriously, it is odd. Love the gold dust in the Rolex Submariner Green, it’s very lustrous. I haven’t got one though sadly. Tags LE Monaco is very nice also. A Silver Snoopy would be lovely also. Haven’t got one of those either…
Green is my favorite color, I'm wearing a green Aquis right now... more green!!!!!!!!!! And yes I'm going after the green palm dial. Or maybe I'll get a green tank if that DJ falls through. Oh and yes I am so tired of Hodinkee collabs, seriously tired of them. You're telling me Oris would never have thought of putting the Cal. 400 in a Divers 65 with no date without Hodinkee? So so tired of Hodinkee and limited editions.
People complain about the amount of limited edition speedmasters omega makes but I actually like it. Shows just how many looks the watch can pull off and they’re always really interesting designs too!
Congratulations to the winner.....and excellent video Teddy!!😁 As regards small watches, it's very much a personal need for individual taste. If everything went to 36mm as in the case of the new Rolex, those watches would look like shirt buttons on my 8" wrist. I did get a 37mm dress watch and it looked so strange I gave to my wife. Her 5.2" wrist suits this size of watch. For me, 36mm is only for small wrists.
A very nice overview of the watch trends. Yes the green dial ia bit of an over kill almost every brand has a green dial. Almost. This might just be a fad and everyone will eventually go back to a black dial. Ever green colour is the black. The small wrist sizes are going to stay. They look more refined and much more comfortable to wear. The pandemic will help the production managers and marketers to rework their capacities. And last but not the least, a world wide increased interest in Grand Seiko. GS will come put the winner at the end of the current chaotic luxury watch markets.
Green dials are surely getting people's attention. I was about to get an Orient Tristar with green dial and found out that the blue version was only 85 dollars shipped so I bought that one. Btw I hate myself for it but the Seiko Steet Fighter edition is kinda cool. Like when you have to admit that the 9th Fast and Furious movie is actually still entertaining😬
I can’t really wrap my head around a push for 36mm case sizes, specifically for male consumers. My wrist is somewhere in between 6.5 and 7” and anything under 39mm, really, looks a bit silly in my opinion. My ideal is probably about 41mm. Seems that more than 50% of men have a wrist that is more than 7” around, and thus the market for cases under 40mm would represent the minority - either those with smaller wrists, or those intentionally preferring a watch that looks undersized (something I’ve thought to be specific to true enthusiasts, although that’s where trends are set!) We’ll see what happens there. Anyway, great video, as always 🤙🏼
Hey Teddy and eveyone, I'm looking to make my first luxury watch purchase. I'm stuck between the GS Snowflake/Skyflake, Omega Aqua Terra, and the Omega SMP, thoughts? Any alternatives? Thanks!
Going to buy a green cotton candy Oris to commemorate the birth of my daughter. Will enjoy it and give it to her years from now. Something about it just reminded me of her.
I like the dark green like on the JLC, but too much green like the Hulk is not for me. I love the patina on bronze. Not a fan of Pop Culture colabs, except the Snoopy Omega because Snoopy is awesome. Love small watches. Glad they are making better bracelets.
I find blue dials pretty ‘redundant’ also. Green dials are nothing new and have been around for decades. When the masses ‘discover’ something it becomes trendy. Love green dials. Doesn’t work for every situation or every watch of course but execution and taste plays a large role. I’ve always love green dials/bezels and will continue to when the hordes move on.
I used to be into watches, owning Tags, Omega Seamaster, Movato, etc. Now it’s Apple Watch all the way with the cell service. Much more: useful, accurate time keeper, weather, phone, calculator & converter, altimeter, texting, translation, GPS mapping, voice recorder, light, and so much more than just a timepiece.
Hey guys, thanks for watching! Just wanted to update you and say that the winner claimed the prize. He picked out the Marathon GSAR Arctic. Thanks to everyone who entered. We can do another in the future.

Such a great pick!
I almost thought I am the one since I have a similar first 2 choices. Hahaha. But thanks. I am new to watches and been learning a lot here.
I am not so keen on green but I am hoping to see more smaller dimension. Somehow I don't see brand like Citizen adopting this though.
I love how teddy just sits at his desk like he's a news anchor

I've got watches from 34mm to 44mm and I love wearing the smaller ones just to be a little different.
Seiko "Hard to love bracelets" that's one way of putting it Haha (:
That’s true about the green color craze. My Seiko Alpinist seems to have started that for me. Great video!
Love the Alpinist. Many watches have come and gone but since discovering this watch on Reddit, it's survived so many waves of flipping. Its an amazingly versatile watch. I didn’t know it, what’s the reason for that rule ? And is a watch considered jewelry ?
Loved hearing your perspective on these trends Teddy!
I just got into watches, and Teddy makes great videos. Very informative and helps me with understanding the landscape of the industry better.
I recently bought the Oris Big Crown 80th Anniversary edition. It’s in bronze & has a green dial. Think it’s one of the most beautiful attainable watches.
Green? I thought red was the in thing? The bronze thing I love! The patina makes it a unique timepiece specific to its owner.
Teddy, I always use your videos to help me steer through my next watch purchases. Thx for sharing knowledge
Teddy has been pumping hard, keep it up. Green really strikes a gd balance to match other colours. Black is common, blue can b cold and not as easy in colour matching. There is a reason RxxxX is adopting green as its brand colour. Oris candy green is spectacular.
I mean Seiko collaborating with other major Japanese titles makes sense but TAG with Mario is the weirdest thing

I love green and I love bronze. That Longines was 🔥. Like gold, it needs to be tasteful. Green should be a common color for dials and bezels, IMO.
I'm planning to get a green dial, there's so many options, it's tough to come down to one! Something about green dials that makes them stand out, I suppose

Heuer = hoia ; Breitling = briteling. When it comes to Omega, I’ve heard many versions: Ohhhmega, Omeeeehga, Omaihga. I would go with Ommega.

That oris in the thumbnail is 👌🏿👌🏿
Green, just as Grand Seiko launched an all green new series!
Seems that more than 50% of men have a wrist that is more than 7” around, and thus the market for cases under 40mm would represent the minority - either those with smaller wrists, or those intentionally preferring a watch that looks undersized (something I’ve thought to be specific to true enthusiasts, although that’s where trends are set!)
We’ll see what happens there.
The Rado Captain Cook and Automatic look good in green, mind you so does the Moser🤣🤣🤣
i think brands saw how crazy the hulk was going on the grey market and all wanted a piece of the action
Those bronze Oris watches really took me by surprise. I kinda like them, not gonna lie.
Haha check and check, I just bought a wicked watch green dial bronze pearl diver 40mm on kickstarter this year :)
I like the dark green like on the JLC, but too much green like the Hulk is not for me. I love the patina on bronze. Not a fan of Pop Culture colabs, except the Snoopy Omega because Snoopy is awesome. Love small watches. Glad they are making better bracelets.
Interesting, Rolex increased the case size of there popular models while offering smaller case sizes for others.
Teddy you are consistently good 😊

Absolutely love the Oris cotton candy. If I was a girl (or could pull it off) I would be all over this.

A trend I'm not fond of is dome crystals.. flat saphire only please!

Actually the Brietling looks good, but your point is well made.
