Not with proper lubrication, technique, and a perforated clay towel as demonstrated here. Iron remover works to soften the edges of the metal particles, it doesn’t fully dissolve them. Mechanical action like provided by the clay towel is needed to actually remove them.

I would say not to return it to the bucket mainly because you don't want to contaminate the rinseless if you're still washing the car. The rinseless will neutralize the iron remover so it shouldn't hurt the sponge. I believe the iron remover is ph neutral but the oxidation is what gets acidic. Yvan will confirm for us
You can put it back, it won’t harm the sponge. It’s just a matter of do you want your wash sponge and solution to smell like iron remover for the rest of the car. If you leave the towel put your wash bucket stays rinseless solution only
Idkkkk. Most fallout removes have a pH of 3.5. Clay dissolves in saline solutions with pH 4.5 and lower. I think this method probably works but you’ll run through more clay mits due to dissolving the product.
Our iron remover isn’t an acid based fallout remover that was popular 10 years ago. DIY Detail Iron Remover has a PH of 6.7-7.3 and our clay towel isn’t effected in the least by it.
Don't we have to wait for the iron remover to sit and wait a bit to turn purple? Now does that funk smell get on the towels and knock your nose into next week?
Would definitely suggest wearing gloves. Our iron remover smells like many removers do…definitely not the most offensive smelling but the active ingredient found in most iron removers does in fact have a less than pleasant smell😂
What’s the next step with this method? Do you rinse the iron remover off with a pressure washer/hose or do you do another pass with the rinseless wash and then dry with a towel as usual?
most people will rinse with a pressure washer and then apply drying aid of choice before drying. You CAN do this step without a hose, but it basically involves flooding the panel with rinse less wash to try and flush the iron remover from the panel. We did a video about this method here: ua-cam.com/video/Hvy7fua5Jyo/v-deo.html
Is "iron remover" an IPA mix? My car is only 2 years old and in perfect shape. No dents, no scratches. I really don't want to put a clay block on my paint job. Is a wash, IPA mix, then waxing enough?
Iron remover is not IPA it’s a dedicated chemical to remove embedded iron deposits and rust. @cqnofear then polish out the swirls you introduced by needlessly agitating the chemical decon before you gave it the time to fully dissolve the particles. No need to agitate the chemical. Let it work on its own then hose it off.
You absolutely can, but you can also clay and then let it continue to work without rinsing off paint as you go to the next panel. So you get the dwell time just on the back end
@@diydetailofficial What reason would there be to letting it dwell after already using the clay? In this scenario, the clay towel has already pulled the contaminates, including any iron particles, from the paint. So I would think that letting it dwell beyond that point wouldn't add any other benefit accept for allowing the smell to linger longer and IDK of anyone who would want that! For more efficiency, after washing with rinseless & spraying iron remover, while you're in the iron remover dwell period, I hop to the next panel and hit that with the rinseless spray pre wash, sponge wipe with rinseless & spray iron remover, then go back to 1st panel to clay with the dwelled iron remover and pressure wash 1st panel. By that time the 2nd panel is now ready for clay towel & rinse. The just repeat on next 2 panels, working way around car to completion.
@@diydetailofficial I agree with the thought of letting it dwell prior to claying, but once you spray the iron remover and you're rubbing the clay towel over the paint, that's removing the iron particles and any rust staining & contaminants that are on the paint surface. After the clay towel there should be nothing left but to rinse the panel. I don't see how any staining would be left on the paint after using the clay towel. So if nothing left on paint after clay towel/iron remover use, i just don't see a need for any additional Iron remover dwell time(& addtl. stink time). At that point, rinse and move on, no?🤔
@@joelpasserell4525 some of the iron particles are very large and stubborn and won't come off without dwell time no matter how hard you rubb with the clay mitt.
Would this method work to prepare brand new paint for ceramic coating, or would I need to hand polish after the iron remover/clay towel step you've shown?
Why would I do that? The iron remover would lift out the iron particles from the clear coat and then I’d rub them into the paint causing marring. There is a reason the paint should be as clean as possible before claying it. There’s a big difference between iron particles and dirt particles that are picked up by the clay bar / towel. I would not do that to my vehicle.
The iron remover does more dissolving the iron particle than lifting it. When the particle is dissolved, it no longer has the sharp edges it had initially so it won't marr the paint anymore when you rubb it on the paint with the clay towel.

You should always rinse the iron remover off before clay barring. It doesn't dissolve the iron, it just softens its surface of the iron particle to release from the paint you still risk putting more scratches in the paint while clay barring it to remove it since you're using an abrasive to remove an abrasive. Using water is much less abbrasive to remove the iron than the clay bar, mit, rag. It very well could just create more work for you on the correction stage. Just use the clay bar and clay lube like it's supposed to be used. I get time is money, but why potentially create more work for yourself?
Yes rindless wash with dirty dirt water dipped in and out who knows how many times?😂😂😂 yes let’s get all these contaminates and particules off my paint to dip them back in my bucket and pick them back up to out back on my car and repeat the process😂😂😢😢. Dude keep it simple wash then clay with a lube spray enjoy the results
I have to agree with Yvan here. Been using only rinseless here for 8 years. The rinseless has more lubrication and tends to pull more dirt off. Waterless on the other hand will scratch if it's dirtier than just a light dust layer. Rinseless is still washing a panel. I use a keg and preload the panel then wipe it. Unlike Yvan who uses a rinseless sponge, I use edgeless high GSM towels and don't dip them back in the bucket so the water stays clean. I have used both and just like using towels since they get into small creases easier and tend to grab more dirt in my experience. Both work well just depends on what you like.
Hell no don’t do this, where the heck are you driving where there’s iron on the paint. You only need Rinsless wash, it’s a good lube. Clay bar is best . Stuff will stick to clay towel and it will become a sand paper. Clay bar you can knead the product and get a new surface . And it removes everything from the surface. The iron remover is just marketing unnecessary product . Maybe for wheels but not for the body
Tairone, iron deposits come from the brakes on the car itself primarily. I suggest you try a clay towel, it’s a very different technology in comparison to a clay bar. The iron remover in this scenario is serving 2 purposes, helping to remove the iron, and as a clay lube.
That’s another way. DIY Detail Iron Remover makes a amazing clay lube. Also it’s best to wash before applying iron removers, as they are not equipped to deal with oils. By washing first your iron remover will be more efficient.

@@diydetailofficial I meant, you're hand gets in contact with that iron on the pad and water. I don't think it's a good idea to get your skin in contact with these chemicals.
Too harsh for my customers cars
Why?
😲
Thank you
yes. let me rub metal all over my paint.
Here's a longer form video explaining the perforated synthetic decontamination towel: ua-cam.com/video/t9DkX0BfToY/v-deo.html
Use a clay bar.
Thank me later
There are many roads
Any tips on how best to use a clay bar especially on a dark colour car. Thank you
Too much steps
This saves steps
your shop lights are too bright. Any brighter and they will be no brighter than a 747 landing light. Won't want to see too many defects! Maybe some diamond Rocklear will make this thing look nice and oily like new for a few days!
This was the truck owners garage not our studio
yeahhhh do NOT do this. lmao this dude is not smart.
Please explain why
Thanks for watching.
Don’t do waterless washes. It’s a joke I’ve been detailing over 11 years and it’s always done damage.
Waterless and Rinseless washing are very different. Rinseless is much safer and does not cause any damage when following instructions.
Rinseless and waterless are 2 very different things, Rinseless is the safest way to maintain your car.
Over 11 years detailing and don’t know the difference between waterless and rinseless smh start looking for another profession lol
Lol
Thanks, have you tried this?
This guy is a windup 😂😂
What do you mean lol
Hell no don’t do this, where the heck are you driving where there’s iron on the paint. You only need Rinsless wash, it’s a good lube. Clay bar is best . Stuff will stick to clay towel and it will become a sand paper. Clay bar you can knead the product and get a new surface . And it removes everything from the surface. The iron remover is just marketing unnecessary product . Maybe for wheels but not for the body
Dude, try it before trying to dismiss new technology with old thoughts. Clay bars are dead.
Tairone, iron deposits come from the brakes on the car itself primarily. I suggest you try a clay towel, it’s a very different technology in comparison to a clay bar. The iron remover in this scenario is serving 2 purposes, helping to remove the iron, and as a clay lube.
Just wash your car
Even a car that gets washed frequently eventually gets contaminated.
Iron remover.
Wash.
Then clay with clay lube
That’s another way. DIY Detail Iron Remover makes a amazing clay lube. Also it’s best to wash before applying iron removers, as they are not equipped to deal with oils. By washing first your iron remover will be more efficient.
Nope
Why?
What’s a good clay towel?
