Iron decontamination for myself is my least favorite part of detailing just with the odor. I really like that this formula is not offensive with smell that just helps 10000%. I do love seeing the bleeding if you will after it starts working. I saw another comment on claying a coated car and I'm curious myself. I would say if you have the rinseless and the iron remover your clay shouldn't be touching the surface making it safer. The iron clay lubricant I've been using since I saw Yvan do it and it saves time! Excellent video! Good to see Yvan back and slicker then ever
I’m really enjoying watching ur earlier videos. I still learn something. It’s fun to see just in one year’s time how the products and the process have evolved, even Nick’s hair! Great stuff guys!
Enjoy the simplicity and detail that comes across. The main issue is the cost if one was to buy your products from Australia. Shame but exchange rates are not good and inflation sucks.
What do you do with that clay towel after you finished ? Do you wash it? Let it hand dry? Or nothing and just put it away until you will use it again for another car? ... thank you!
I dont know if you guys have but… you should do a video on wether you should or should not clay a ceramic coated car. I have my opinion on that, but would love to hear your opinions.
Excellent video guys. I will be ceramic coating my car. After the initial contact wash i spray Capro Iron X on the DIY clay towel and panel and lightly rub into the panel. Then rinse off. Than wash the clay towel to remove the contamination. Next spray DIY ceramic gloss spray on panel and DIY Towel. After that apply panel prep and Ceramic coating. Is this the right order?

Great videos, guys! If you didn't have a pressure washer to rinse off the iron remover, what would be the best way to do so? I saw another video where Nick had used a sprayer to spray more rinseless or used a towel and wrung it out over the panel. However, then you'd have to use multiple towels per panel. I probably answered my own question, but wondering if there is a better way than using a bunch of towels. Would using a separate rinse bucket be an option to wash out the towel from iron remover? Also could you use the rinseless wash sponge or wash mitt instead of towels?
i had some fungal spores attack my headlights leaving black spots that weren't going away with car soap or rinseless wash. the next thing i used was a clay bar. now i'm regretting it because of the marring, hazing, and discoloring that occured over the next few weeks. is this clay towel any safer on headlights and the headlight coating? any tips on a less aggressive method to removing those spores?
Hello Thanks for your videos! Nice job I want to ask... My maxshine clay towel has different design. It has not these diamond holes on it. Should I change it? Can I use iron remover with my clay towel as a lubricant? Thank you
We would advise you to get this towel: bit.ly/FineGradeClayTowel that way, when you pair it with our Iron Remover, all of the advice we provide on the channel applies:) It's so hard to know with other products and Iron Removers what advice to give because they're all different
Absolutely. In fact I would argue it’s essential. You’re essentially removing embedded contaminants from the clear coat. This way when you polish you’ve got the cleanest possible canvas upon which to do your work and you’re not competing against crud that could interfere with or clog up your pad or polish
@DIY Detail I understand using iron remover and the clay towel before polishing, but would you still use Ceramic Gloss if your next step is to polish?
What do we do if the clay towel “smears” or “dissolves” on the surface? Cool day, working in shaded, using Rinseless and iron remover for Lube, only thing I could think is that I used water spot remover earlier in the day? Rinsed down extremely thoroughly after.
@@jacobyubeta3435I heard some iron removers have solvents which will ruin the media on clay towels… DIY detail’s doesn’t have those solvents which degrade the product
Just got the clay towel, Rinseless Wash, Quick Beads and Iron Remover. Vehicle is one year old and has little contamination - if I use the clay towel with ample lubrication should this avoid marring and scratching…as I would prefer not to have to polish.
Great video guys. I appreciate the part where you mentioned that you don't put the clay towel back in the bucket once it has the iron remover on it. 😉👍
My car is protected with turtle wax max graphene wax. Would this process remove that completely? If not then what do you recommend to strip wash first with? Thanks.
You should definitely decontaminate if you don't plan on polishing before coating. But you also want to use proper technique with proper lubrication for the decontamination towel. Here's a video on how we do that: ua-cam.com/video/YEGHisHEfNc/v-deo.html
Can I use drying lubricant (optimum spray wax, bead maker or your awesome ceramic gloss etc…) if I’m planing to apply a coating? You guys are doing great job by the way! Keep up the good work!
No, a coating requires clean, unprotected paint. Any form of protection will prevent the coating from bonding properly. Once the coating has cured for a week you can use diydetail.com/products/ceramic-gloss or diydetail.com/products/quick-beads for regular maintenance.
It’s hard to speak on all iron removers. Obviously I would encourage you to use ours:) haha but if you’ve got something else at home play around with it and see how it feels/performs
The video I was waiting for! I've got a question about using clay - how often should decontaminate car? Only when I hear decontamination? Maybe once a year? Or after winter? 🤔
It’s totally dependent on your environment. If you want to…maybe once a quarter. The problem with waiting too long is you tend to get really nasty stuff stuck in the paint…so you inevitably clay “harder” which gives you more risk for marring. I would just use this method with extremely light pressure if any…and if you’re not getting marring do it as often as you wish:) you can put a little more pressure on the windshield but Yvan was right…basically no pressure with clay towel and by folding it you’re giving it a bit of cushion between your hand and the paint
Great video , definitly will try clay mitt , i was wondering if i can insteat of use iron as clay lube , do a prewash with iron in the jet wash ,and do a wash with rinseless and then add rinseless as clay lube instead of the iron , becouse of not letting a harsher chemical on the paint . Best regards
You can do that, might be a waste of product. I’ve always felt like foaming on iron remover wasn’t the most effective use of money since that is a more expensive chemical to manufacture 😀
@@diydetailofficial yes indeed is a great idea my only afraid is that in my house i cant hose down the iron , can it be neutralized with a secont wash with rinseless?

No, in that case you want nothing on the surface. If you’re not going to be polishing after the wash, use DIY Detail Panel Prep as your drying aid. Thanks for your question, hope the answer helps.
Is it only when using an iron remover you don't want to dunk your clay towel in the rinseless solution bucket or is it anytime you're using the clay towel? You mentioned contaminating the rinseless. Also would you clean the towel after using all 4 sides and if so what would you use to clean it because you still have the rest of the car to do.
Just with Iron Remover, and if you’re not going to wash another car with the contents of the bucket, dunk to your hearts content. Alternatively, simply rinse it with water and continue.
