This is by far the best nitro tutorial ever. Simple and to the point. I brought a hsp flying fish 1/10 nitro rc and got a really good deal on it on Facebook marketplace. 😊
I have this exact motor in my 1/10 scale touring car so this is gonna be helpful
always wait till the engine is up to full temp before adjusting do not adjust when you first start the engine
i agree but say you have a good glow plug, your igniter is fully charged but the engine doesnt stay running on idle,
there needs to be some adjustments made to either the idle position or the idle screw. i dont suggest both because that makes life difficult.
and matter of fact i don't suggest idle position IF its already set at 1,5mm or more.
and if it finally starts once the engine is 'warm' after some driving around you indeed tune the HSN (high speed needle)
-im not talking big adjustments on idle screw or position, just very minimal like 1mm each time it doesnt start or doesnt stay running.
I thought you can tune it to get it running from what ever cold or hot then you fine tune it properly when it’s at temperature? I know you can heat the engine up first with a heater that would help but if it doesn’t run you’d have to get it to some kind of running state before you can fine tune it although this video is shocking I’m an amateur and even I can tell that isn’t tuned correct it’s gurgling doesn’t rev up properly idle is rough as an old nail it’s really not a good video on tuning an rc at all
@@liamwilliams7782 negative, the engine is running fine, is just too new, it kept idle, engaged two speed without hesitation and smooth transition.
Engine never isolated in idle from full throttle and top end was always consistent and crisp.
The only thing that engine needs is more run time.

silly question, why do the radios come with 3 channels when there are only 2 servos on the car?
To plug in a transponder if you are racing to record your lap time. Or a fan to cool motor on an electric car. Or to change to a different gear such as neutral or reverse or second gear or third gear. Or to operate lights. Horn. Winch. Etc

Any pointers on the symptoms of a nitro engine dieing.
If your engine shuts down after you remove your igniter it needs a new glow plug. A Nitro engine dies when.. not enough fuel going to the engine... not running the proper fuel type.. too much fuel going to the engine at full throttle/ idle.. air intake not clean .. but most of the time it is just a simple carb, tank, fuel line clean and basic tune with new glow plug. Should start after that👍

@@stopbeingapatheticbitch8628 when the compression is no longer as strong. You can tell by pulling the pull cord, if it feels loose/looser then you are most likely losing compression. This is caused by running the engine too hot for a long period of time. Once compression is totally lost you must replace the engine or internal engine components (piston & sleeve) to get full power again.
@@AmazingRCstore it's a ofna picco p3 .28 with about 3 gallons of Trinity 30 percent thru it but I always ran it rich and easy.

Hi I played with these three positions a bit seems like everytime I start it dies. If I poor a bit of fuel into carby it starts then dies otherwise it doesn’t start
Not getting enough fuel. Try cleaning the fuel line, carb and anything the fuel passes by. The fuel might not be making its way into the engine. The way you can check that is by..
- unplugging the line connected to the pipe
- blowing into the unplugged line and watch the line going into the carb
- if the fuel doesn't go into the carb while you are blowing then it's closed/clogged.
-you must clean and/or unclog the it,
-start by closing the "low-end" adjustment all the way down, then opening it back up (that helps push open the line)
Try these steps, it should help you keep your RC running.
What’s a good initial adjustment? I know on a regular full size car the carburetor is normally about 2-2 1/2 turns out.

New to the rc world. Bought a used ofna ultra lx2. Would you have parts for this thing in stock? Coming from outta town. Flywheel to be exact.
I do not believe we have the exact ofna part but most flywheels are similar from different brands. Maybe we can fit an after market flywheel, we would have to see the car in person to confirm. Thanks

What would you say would be the perfect picture for a vertex .18 I have mine on a rich mixture 3 1/2 turns I'm having a hard time finding a good mixture
I have learned that the type of fuel makes a huge difference. Try using VP racing 20% nitro fuel. That fuel is truly the best. The vertex .18 engine is fantastic, should run smooth.
I used 25% Nitro on mine, after breaking in (1/4 gallon fuel trough engine) change plug if it still is alive

Rich but not too rich as to hydrolock. Keep in mind nitro cars run best before they blow. So dont go too lean but they run very well on a leaner mixture

Hey guys I just got back on driving my nitro again. My car is bogging when I gas it full throttle and break. What can that be?
Bogging on full throttle means HSN is too rich. Bogging when braking means LSN is too rich
Looks just like my breaking in when I had few of those "Himoto" or whatever chinese toys they were. Very nice ride for 170 bucks! (ps. those hsp glows have a shitty cell in them but thats OK when they cost as little as a 2 tanks of Byron..)
I have this car... hsp backwash. When it kicks into 2nd gear and reaches top revs it sometimes just cuts out? At like full speed? Anyone know why.. its run in and I'm pretty knowledgeable with nitro but this has me stumped!! Thanks
The problem might be your fuel tank because the suction might be to loose and get air bubbles in the hoses and if not that then you need to tighten your idle needle
*NEVER START A NITRO ENGINE WITHOUT AN AIRFILTER* It is going to suck in all kinds of dirt & dust once it runs!

@@Mustyweed Have you ever looked at the airfilter aftee running an engine. I have had airfilters turn black after running on pavement.

airfilters are to stop debris from entering the engine. Car runs fine without it, but if anything enters it can cause some headaches

Hey man, i recently crashed my jato 3.3 into a tree and after that my engine has been making a hissing noise, what could it be? I checked the lines and the glowplug, nothing seems screwed up.

is this 2 gear to low or mine to high? it seems when you are just trying to drive and corner its just randomly changing gears. mine is like a 1 speed till its in high revs near where you would be about to back off an 2 kicks in. in dirt it seems more controllable when drifting as it does not shift to 2nd but on the road its more for high end as i dont bash really on the road

I noticed that you were doing a lot of adjustments with out explaining to everybody how and why you were adjusting the high and low needles and the idle ??? if you are trying to make a tuning video for new people you need to show and tell them every time you adjust a needle and why because you are not doing that ??????????
It’s to much effort just install a electric starter that’s what I did I could do 100 laps by the time your shit starts up
