That car is an HSP, it´s been discontinued as that, but it´s still available as RedCat Tornado. The parts are fully copmatible, and really cheap. I did have issues with the shock tower tho. They re really week and bend contantly. But the optional carbon towers are more flexible and get that issuesolved.
@levi.k4017 the rear end goes out a lot and I had to play with the transmission to get it to shift right. It still runs and is fun but knowing what I know now I would've spent another 100 bucks and bought a traxxas nitro rustler.

I have the red cat shockwave, its a little more lower end than the tornado, it has the vx-16 and it runs on a single speed transmission. The car brought me into hobby grade RC, but the sad thing is they discontinued it. The cars a blast and I'm rebuilding it because I got cocky and ran it into a ditch.
Awesome... Another cheap car review... I love these... Kevin. Please bring these back. Just a super cheap RC.. nitro or brushless... And give them a bash and see if they are ok or not
Oh the hsp 1:10 warhead i think its called ? plenty of places that has that old thing. Fairly cheap nitro buggy but with some upgrades & kind of pre-run checks it should be alright for what it is without breaking. As mentioned that hump pack is a must, blue threadlock on the motor mount screws & maybe add in a piece of steel or aluminium too cover the gears on the underside is a good idea for this. Maybe just add a piece of lexan that's fairly thick and glue in place too cover that hole would work as well.
You'll have to make a video breaking in the car the right way. Get another one exactly the same and don't break it in the right way and show us what the difference is. That'll show us if it even matters or not. I think that would be a good video. The right way and the wrong way. See which one runs better after they're broken in. And once they're both broken in see which ones faster and has more horsepower. Race some side by side. I'm just curious to see if it even matters or not. I hope to see you put that to the test.
@@hadenturnbull7331 Nitro is cooler for me, but electric has 2 advantages over nitro. Nitro is way tooo loud for neighours, and you need to constantly get fuel while electric you plug it for a couple of hours and you are ready to go. Lipos can potencialy be more dangerous than fuel yho. So it´s up to what you consider best for you. Do your research, RedCats are well known for being good and affordable. Parts are everywhere.
@levi.k4017 my friend broke it so yeah lol. But it was still running great the only downside is the pull starter. Seemed like after a couple of years the cord got worn and broke. New pull start was like £20
@@levi.k4017 yes very fast. It had a 2 speed gearbox. Oh and if you were going to get one try not to crash because they are very fragile and can brake easy
Love HSP, you should try HSP Nokier/Savagery, 1/8 monstertruck. One is electric the other one is gas! I just convertet my gas to brushless and it is awsome! Just i tip, great videos as always 👍
I was looking all over for that car, then I went back and red all the text, shame discontinued, I were about to buy that for a little fun lol. Great vid Kev 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️
I have a couple of these types of car. Not sure I would say that ‘you can’t go far wrong’. They break a lot after they have aged a bit (even just regular driving around) and some of the parts (like the plastic spur) are not made to last many runs. So you have permanent orders for parts coming over from China! That said, they are very cheap to get parts for and I happen to not mind fixing them. But if you don’t want your cars in bits being fixed after every other run then maybe not. Gonna put a .28 in my 1/10 hsp monster truck for fun. Expecting the drive drain to get mangled - but you never know!
Another great review kev looks like a nice little car I'm definitely going to check that one out I have bought a few cars that I've seen you review and so far they have all been lots of fun keep up the great videos
my uncle has one of the original HSP nitro buggies that I'm working on after it has been sitting for at least 5 years because one time we had a runaway with it.
Yeah I just bought a second hand one of them 60euro with every thing but haven't been able to get it started and the high speed needle and low end needle settings are all wrong any chance you can help me out with the settings to get my one running and I only got a traxxas slayer pro 4x4 today and thanks for getting me hooked up with a new hobby bud 🤝
I had a version of this with 2 speed aswell called a sidewinder, i have an electric one that is heavily modified called a grampus, which somehow hits over 120kph. Edit: the sidewinder has a bigger engine and a seperate electric starter (kinda like a power drill) and both are awd
yeah isnt the sidewinder quite old? i seam to remember one being called that 30yrs ago when i was into rcs, my mate had a mardave marauder and he didnt have the starter box (starter box is different from yours basically a small box with a motor with a rubber wheel on it), so what ya do is turn your bike upside down and get your mate to crank the peddle with his hand and start it on the back tyre (against the engine gear poking through the bottom), bit of a retro life hack there for ya lol and yeah stemp has a few hes started with one of kevs drills in some vids :)
Oh, as a suggestion for break in, there's a bit of a trick I've learned that makes things easier. Start by just idling through three tanks of fuel, letting it cool down after each tank. After that, use the Traxxas method. It takes a while but the engine will last a lot longer. Although with a cheap, low quality engine like that, you might want to pass on putting that much effort into break-in until _after_ you end up inevitably replacing the engine with something better. Also, DO NOT EVER let the car leave the ground during the later phases of break-in. You don't want to overrev. Also, don't let it shift.
Oh bs man I’ve broken in tons of engines for last 20 years and it makes no difference, a few heat cycles and make sure it doesn’t over heat and good . What your doing is just silly
I m having the same car but this is good for first three to four times of play after that you spend your precious time to find the broken parts ideal if you are playing slowly slowly with lots of lots of care and no more full throttle. parts are very weak the two speee transmission easily ripped off in 5 tanks the gears made of plastic
I’m just about to get a cheapie nitro car. For the first time. You help with advice and things ect. I’ve just started to follow you on here. You obvs no wot your doing. Would you Mind if I dropped a couple questions when I get it
Hahaha I love the attitude. Can’t wait to snag me a car this year hopefully and learn them little engines.

Just bought this exact car from Amazon a week ago and it runs great and is a lot of fun.

Doesn't sound like it's hitting second. It can be adjusted via the Allen key on the gears.
Shifting way too early. Gotta tighten the shift clutch down a quarter turn until it shifts properly.
Finally no crawlers crawlers are boring bashing is fun keep it up kev

That's basically the same as the exceed Forza nitro and that's still going and not discontinued
I had one, they are the same as hsp.

You can buy this car on the nitrotek website but it's called the 'backwash nitro radio controlled buggy'
Side exhaust port, pull start, low-flow air filter, rotary carb, probably single needle. At least it has a tuned muffler.
