Thanks for mentioning eye protection. Springs that are desperate to fling themselves into the dark corners of the garage are scary. You darn near need sunglasses to work under that car, it's so shiny.

There is a special place in hell for the engineer that designed the spring, cup and pin hold down system for the shoes. 10:00

It is strange to me too that that is the best way they came up with and everyone followed.

@@SlippingTime Excellent video by the way. Great explanation, no time wasting, and straight to the point. I appreciate you using an HD camera with excellent lighting. It really helps when you show the shoe assembly close up and in detail. Now I got gotta figure out what I screwed up on my left side. Something is clicking and in reverse the e-brake handle pops up and down. Definitely assembled something incorrectly there.

@@SlippingTime Doing it right now. The driver's side was clicking so I took it apart. The cable had popped out of it's shoe connection and I swear I had it on correctly the first time. I put it back, reassembled everything and ran into the same problem as last time. The rotor would NOT slide over the the shoes. The first time around I assumed it was because the rotor and shoes were brand new so the tolerances were tight. Thinking nothing of it, I used a mallet to hammer it on.
2nd time around, it STILL wont slide on. I have the parking brake lever adjuster (inside the car) all the way out and the shoe adjuster all the way in. The shoes are loose but I can't squeeze them together to put the rotor on. I checked the springs, clips, seats, etc. Everything looks ok to me but I still can't get the rotor on. Going to see if DSMTuners has a post where someone ran into the same issue.
EDIT: I have new parking cables as well.

Could I have the name of the manual you were using?

It’s the actual Chrysler factory one for a 1998 Eagle Talon.
