I signed on in Portland OR 8 years ago, they took 20% & I got 80%. Now they demand drivers to accept their terms of service, or not be able to drive - yearly. They began with $1.75mi but now they say I have to drive $0.70/mi - but they won’t grandfather me in or let me negotiate (like a private contractor should be able to), I’m using my own car!
I made gross $100,000 last year (they report the entire fare as the drivers income): AFTER what they took I got $40,000 - but after expenses (gas, insurance, mechanic work) & deductions I got about $1,200 NET.
    Uber/Lyft Says $33/hr But They Get $19 & the driver gets $14: (58%) 19/14 (42%)!

Lol wut? You're free to negotiate all you want, that doesn't mean they're obligated to entertain it. That goes for any contracting position, sweetheart.
What unskilled, uneducated people don't understand is that their basic manual labor holds little to no leverage. If you don't take the pay they offer, someone else will. You aren't a gem.

I have been driving rideshare for a few years now. Rideshare is the ONLY job I have ever had that the longer I do it the less I take home. Last year both Lyft and Uber forced on the drivers a thing called "upfront pricing" is it a secret way these companies calculate the pay the drivers will get from a trip. When we are support how they come to these numbers they only tell us that is takes into account 70 different points of info... I use to make on average a little over $10 a trip (including tips and bonuses) NOW is between $3 and $5 ... And the whole $33 an hour of "utilized" time is complete horse droppings. "Utilized" means having a person in the car ... not waiting for a ride or going to get the passenger... Rideshare has become a complete scam ...

These people need to stop whining about uber and lyft not paying them enough. It’s been the same complain of when I used to drive for them 7 years ago. If you drive for them You accept that you are a contractor and If you are not happy you can stop driving for them and get another job but a lot of these drivers won’t because they hate the idea of having a schedule and a boss. Another reason they complain is because a lot of them buy these expensive cars and expect ride share companies to compensate them for their poor money decisions. I did this work and instead of whining that these companies don’t pay I learned a new trade and changed career.

Who cares they signed up for it why are they complaining? They shouldn’t be complaining now if I’m correct aren’t they the ones that helped Uber and Lyft bust unions yes they did the drivers, so what can we do about it nothing I AM A TAXI DRIVER that is correct. That is what I am. I’m a Southern California taxi driver that’s who I am. I work in the inland Empire about 30 miles east of downtown Las. I generally work at Ontario airport most of the time, but there are customers away from the airport also so this is what the airport did to us taxi drivers we used to sit on the inside curb. The airport moved us to the outside island curb, which is right across the street from where we used to pick up now we have to sit and watch the Uber drivers and Lyft drivers get most of the work and it goes on and on and on all day all day long like I said, can we do anything about it? No but I can still feel the way I feel, so the Uber drivers and the Lyft drivers they’re complaining what are they complaining about? Like I said they signed up for it and I want to say one thing to all you people that don’t know a lot the Uber drivers and the Lyft drivers they did not get hired all they did. Was they download the Uber app they download the Lyft app they send them their information and if they pass their background check they’re driving they’re making money. I don’t know how this goes on. They’re not regulated, but it goes on, so I sit here at the airport here’s another funny thing that you people will find amusing. Sometimes Uber drivers will cancel or the Lyft drivers will cancel. Then their customers will come over to the taxi amazing it and you know why they cancel because it’s a shitty ride and they’re not making any money. Pretty funny isn’t it so that’s it I’m done. !!!

Most important things in life are our HEALTH & our TIME. But scum of the earth companies: Uber, Door Dash, Lyft, Grub Hub, Roadie & etc don't give a damn about neither of those. It's high time the drivers fight for new 2024 France's rideshare rates here in the USA & for the world too. With a transparency bill so the passenger & driver understands where the money is going -- $1.70 per mile for the vehicle (or 1 Euro per Km) AND minimum $0.55 cents (Euros) PER MINUTE for driver's TIME/effort -- as what France passed should be the standard, what drivers should strive for.
Uber, Lyft talk about paying driver $30 per hour, but I receive $4.02 trips more often than not, hence average hourly pay is about less than $15 per hour, which is less than minimum wage. Furthermore, in Bay Area, California Lyft average trip prices I see is $4.02 & $5.29 where I decline straight away because it's not worth my time where it'll take 11 to 20 minutes on booked time, and no matter if I decline 100 of those garbage, Lyft keeps sending those garbage. Useless, thrash AI they have, definitely worst than Uber. Once I decline tons of those trash, the best Lyft send me is 9 miles $9 dollars about 20 to 26 minutes booked time trip, paying me a single dollar per mile rates only, as if Lyft is providing their company car for me to drive, with insurance, gas, maintenance fee & etc included... Unbelievable this scam company, they forget that they have to pay for my time separately & they have to pay for miles driven in my vehicle a another separate rate. So paying hourly rate wage for a driver unless the vehicle is a company car is IRRELEVANT.
As for Uber most trip prices I see is $5.89 & $6.02 Although the price is slightly higher, again, I decline those thrash trips because it's same logic as accepting a Lyft's garbage lowest trip.

Unfortunately, today's Philadelphia Strike showed that many unscrupulous, greedy deceivers work at Uber and Lyft. While some Uber and Lyft drivers left their homes and sacrificed their jobs on the holiday, others not only did not support the protest, they laughed as they left the parking lot to pick up riders. Thanks to them, corporations do not worry about the lack of drivers.
It's very sad, because I love Uber, but unfortunately it's getting more and more difficult to survive on that kind of income. Most likely, I will have to leave this job and look for something else if something doesn’t change, very sad.

I used to drive for Lyft here in NJ, after they announced that you can now see where the ride is going and what it pays BEFORE you accept it in the app, they dropped the pay on each ride precipitously. So I stopped driving for them. It's a free market, end of story. Not to mention they legalized weed here so I was getting a lot of druggies in the car, stinking it up, I'd have to pull over and air out the car so the next rider wouldn't think I was the druggie, all that for $6 bucks and no tip. GTF outta here. And for some odd reason 95% of the druggies were of a certain color. Just making an observation. Do what you will with the information. I bought a utility trailer and I'm pulling stuff for cash now. Best decision I've made in a while. Still get to make my own schedule.

Here is what I think needs to be done.
Everyone that can. Should post on Ubers/DD's/Dara's X page the same core issues.
I suggest we start with this:
1- Increase fare pay according to courier industry standards and adjust with inflation.
2- Change the Tipping options in the app to:
    15% (minimum), 20%, 30%, 50%, and Custom.
(These should be set to what the Drivers agree on, not for Uber to determine)
3- Have a minimum Tip on all offers of 15%.
4- More control on how the app should work, and be tailored for us.
(We do pay these platforms, to use their service. We should have more control over how it works)
Tag the media in those post.
If we ALL post the same fundamental cores.
It just may make a difference.

Maybe $15-$20 active hours. But, out of the pay, we have to take out our own taxes (we are 10-99) car payment, gas, insurance, car washes, oil changes, wear and tear.

I’m a lyft driver who is also a shareholder of lyft. How to make lyft work for you: Take all the ride 100 AR. Invest in Lyft Shares then…. Profit???
You need to think like a shareholder. Just work and they will pay you more with inflation.

It is really disturbing that Uber and Lyft opted to say that their drivers are making x amount of dollars when they're making a third of that at most and they're talking about on averages all around the country when every Market is different but the truth is they're lying and fortunately that's starting to come to light it's not a model they can sustain just like the one hndred dollar ride from point A to point B in the driver only got $36 from that ride that is absolutely par for the course and horrible

They want to much! Higher pay higher tips just to much and do so little. Sitting at stores after the food been done for 20mins doesn’t give updates or take the food. Y’all cancel rides last minute. The worse contractors ever! No one cares thanks for letting us know about the strike so we go get our own food. Y’all already cancel ride so not surprised there.

The real issue is that earnings have decreased as the companies keep more of the money. Additionally, they stopped offering the bonuses they used to offer on a daily basis.

      Right.
But let's be real about it.
It's the ultimate job of no responsibility.
You work when you want, break/lunch when you want, have no boss looking over your shoulder, don't have to report to a specific place of work...
      I could go on...
I agree they should be clearing minimum wage.
The expenses? If you were smart, you'd hold recipets and probably end up paying zero taxes at the end of the ye

You make a point but still, on a dollar for time basis, no company should be paying below minimum wage after expenses are paid. I think that 90% of the ICs should quit, that would definitely fix Lyft and Uber's wagon but that's not going to happen when you have people coming here from all corners of the Earth willing to work for $40 a day for a full day's work. It should give people pause, especially females, to get into a car with someone that barely speaks any english, has been here a few months, background check from their native country can't be completed and they're willing to take you 20 miles for $5 bucks.
