      Uber & Lyft charge the driver .24 cents from every dollar for insurance when driver only makes 90 cents per mile on most times & zero cents per minute...and who in the right mind would agree to a $2500 insurance deductible? What Uber doing is what Craigslist is doing for free. But, Door Dash, Lyft, Uber's cut (trip take rate) is between 35% to 85% from passenger payment, unbelievable.
      For a start, Gig apps should pay the independent contractor (the driver) same as what France passed for new 2024 rates: $1.70 per mile for the vehicle (or 1 Euro per Km) AND minimum $0.55 cents (or Euros) PER MINUTE for driver's TIME/effort. And those rates should run like a stopwatch on the phones on every second & miles (Km) driven, separately like an old taxy cab meter. Talk of hourly wage is relevant -- if the vehicle ( a company car), fuel, maintenance, insurance & etc provided by rideshare COMPANY only -- currently none of the vehicles are by rideshare companies, it's all driver owned. hence pay drivers how France is charging the passenger/customer, the old taxi company way.

      @@phillipchan6919 In fact here is how world's greatest ever scam companies scam the Gig drivers. E.g. Uber, Lyft, Door Dash would show a surge (busy) area to me, but once I go there, there's no surge there, so I don't follow the surge. Another e.g. Lyft would send me garbage trip that pays like $0.90 cents per mile (actually all Lyft trips are garbage) & in the bottom mention, you're going to a busy area, but once I go there, it's the same scam in that area too -- 0.90 cents per mile but no money for minutes I have to waste whether it's 20 minutes or 50 minutes trip. I definitely stay away from long trips: e.g. from Fremont, CA to San Francisco, CA is 40 miles, 50 minutes in normal traffic, and they charge the passenger between $100 to $120 dollars. -- But you know how much the world's greatest scam companies pay me for that 50 minute, 40 mile trip is: Uber pay me $28 & Lyft pay me $23. Please if you can & don't mind, ask the driver to cancel the ride once they arrive for pickup & pay the driver cash $100 for that trip or Zelle the money or Venmo the money or even PayPal... Another thing is on top thrash trip fares, once I take the bate & arrive at that hot spot, for the next trip, you're not paid for driving to the hot spot--for miles driven & minutes wasted. Hence, I AM DAMMED IF I DO & I DAMMED IF I DON'T. Welcome to Uber, Door Dash, Lyft, Grub Hub, Roadie & etc driver life. Corrupt, stupid California politicians passed a law called Prop 22 saying for a mile Gig apps should pay at least 0.34 cents per mile (when Federal rate is 0.69 cents for using your own vehicle for company use, so is California cheaper than other states?) & must pay at least $24 dollars per hour for the driver. So what Uber, Door Dash, Grub Hub do, they pay only $24 dollars per hour no matter how many miles driven because a law says at least $24 dollars is enough. -- Instead of paying the driver separate rate for miles driven for using the driver's own vehicle & another rate for minutes on booked time for driver's Time/effort. This is so corrupt. I almost all the time, receive zero Prop 22 adjustment pay from Lyft at the end of the week because of the above 2 clauses. Stupid, corrupt Prop 22 should be reappealed for Frances new 2024 rideshare rates laws, which is: $1.70 per mile for the vehicle (or 1 Euro per Km) separate rate AND pay separate minimum $0.55 cents (Euros) PER MINUTE for driver's TIME/effort.

    • @faisalparvez1283
      @faisalparvez1283 7 місяців тому +1

      not as easy to do unfortunately. when this job works, it actually works just fine. its just the constant lying and stealing that is frustrating eveyone. all these companies say that their take rate is anywhere from 20% to 30%. well thats clearly a lie, its more towards 60% to 80%. in some cases that ive seen, its even more but those are very rare.
      this strike for everyone. both customer and the drivers. sure drivers can leave and find new jobs but the companies will keep doing this and abuse the independent contractor laws. This can also set an example for other companies to treat their contractors in the same way. imagine every company for any field paying like this and abusing the independent contractor system and then paying low amounts to everyone regardless of their work. just a couple of years ago uber wasnt as bad they are now, but after doordash started to offer this weird kind of randomized pay, uber followed suit and then suddenly all the gigs started doing the same thing.
      if the striking works, drivers will need multiple strikes. the more we decline, the more time is wasted for the driver, customer and the restaurants. all of this can be fixed if they pay us better and atleast provide some sort of security. driver will accept an order and can get to the customer faster. restaurants wont have to potentially waste food by cooking it and then keeping it for hours. in rideshare, customers wont have to wait too long to get a ride. and drivers can be paid what they are owed.
      no matter what happens, people like this service and the service wont be going away but this strike will make it at the very least very annoying for these companies to deal with. everyone should be paid fairly for their work regardless of what the work is. hopefully you understand how important this situation is.

      regardless of whether anyone is forcing them or not, no company should abuse their employees or contractors like this. no company should promise one thing and then not deliver on it. no company should say that their cut is 20% - 30% and the remaining is the drivers but then take 60% - 80% of the entire payout. no company should charge customers so much with so many unnecessary fees that the customer thinks that the driver is getting most of the pay when in fact its the company pocketing everything. no company should have driver support, that instead of helping the driver complete their order or ride, makes it even harder on the driver to complete it. no company should reduce the pay of the driver when the tip amount is higher than a certain amount. no company should say that a longer mile delivery/ride pays more but then pay the driver the bare min which is around $3 to $5, regardless of miles. no company like these should exist.
      there is so much wrong with these companies and even if people leave them, others will come and then they will be exploited too. this strike is meant to show everyone that these companies are not what they seem. a few years ago doordash was found only giving giving their drivers $10 regardless of tip amount. a customer would have tipped a driver $30 and doordash would have given the driver only $10 from that $30 and pocketed the rest. it was the customers who found out about that and helped drivers. customers can help the drivers again this time too.

    It's crazy that people have to be negative about someone's fight in life. We all fight for good and bad, every day. Just because my fight is different than yours or yours different than mine, that doesn't give you the right to be disrespectful to other people who are "not" asking the government for free stuff like these immigrants. Drivers are asking for something that belongs to them but Uber/Lyft steals it, that's their money. In order for a driver to keep a car on the streets to pick up riders it takes 30% of pay. Then, 40-50% of pay to feed their families and pay rent. But, Uber/Lyft takes 70% of fares expecting drivers to do everything with 30%??? That's impossible! Imagine anyone cutting into your money taking more than their share, it becomes a huge f'ing problem. No company should ever be allowed to take more that 20-30% of fares. The moment you allow this, is the moment drivers drive for free because now drivers are breaking even and staying broke with a 30% pay while drivers do 80-90% of the job. Uber, all they do is program their A.I technology to be heartless and corrupt to the bones. Then, Uber/Lyft lies about what they do with a smile but it's just for show. Next time Dara pops up on t.v, look at his demeanor, it's the devil in disguise, telling people what they want to hear. Dara has to lie because if the truth was to come out how he scammed both riders and drivers....he'd be finished!! Also, for those that don't know, show compassion for others and support someone else's fight because we're all just trying to survive. Peace ✌✌✌✌ "Also, go tell all the dead drivers families that got shot in the head by a rider or by car jackers to be grateful their love ones atleast had a job with Uber."

    The pay and profit they are making are based on how busy it is and depends on if ridership is low or high. This is a slow time of the year and the pay will go up when ridership increases

    People should stop accepting trips that pay less than a dollar a mile minimum. Maybe even $2 a mile. $3 a mile is honestly more of a fair trade. But at minimum $1. People who take trips that pay less than that are messing it up for everybody else on the platform.

      1 mile is approximate 1 minute, then $1/mile is $60/hour. The greedy company fixed the program in the app. to pay you about 0.50c or less per mile. If you do not accept it, they will lower your ratings to junk status where no rides or order comes to you. The company programmer fixed it to take advantage of the workers. Now do you know how if works against any driver?

I used to think semi-truck drivers were the worst but Uber/Lyft guys are the absolute worst people on the road with their 3 cell phones on their windshield, their rear view camera cam filming forward, doing 60 in the fast lane with 30 cars behind them while they look for a ride, randomly stopping in the middle of the street with no flashers on, blocking driveways, parking wherever you want because you're sitting in the car so it's ok even if you're across a crosswalk or causing cars to go around you. You all make the roads so much more dangerous than it has to be. Strike FOR WHAT!
