Hello Carci, Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite video games of all time, I think it's cool that you did this, I've been watching your runs for a while now and have to say you are the best Survival Horror player I've seen. Keep Strong Carci.
I started playing SH 2 a year I mean I've played every single game before ,well not origins and SH room but I know just as soon as I get these game people like you pop up coincidentally,and that fact I picked up a year ago and you're video is a couple of days after my first trophy, coincidence no why would you just all of a sudden want to play Silent Hill,why so you beat the game in a hour big whoop but guess what it's not about that and you will never understand, and I will never accept you're knowledgeable or lore.
Lordy, Mary reading her letter to James at the end breaks me every time. Voice actor did a fantastic job because you can really feel the pain in her voice.
Cutscene @18:57 bugs me, he is carrying a long ass pole, so instead of using that to easily knock the keys over to where he can pick them up he struggles like an idiot and fails after being stepped on.
I really enjoyed Silent Hill 4 the room, other then questionable level design and the obnoxious unkillable ghosts. It has one of my favorite plots for a video game. And I actually enjoy the gameplay. Tedious but somehow rewarding. Especially if you get 10 star rank.
Laura moves around Silent Hill so easily because its theorized she does not manifest the monsters in her reality. perhaps she is pure, unlike James, Eddie and Angela
Great work sir, just watched the entire vid on the sofa with a hangover and it was amazing. I remember this game taking me bloody ages as a kid, getting lost everywhere and constantly opening the map. Seeing you breeze it was great.
The actor who played and voiced James said that his personal ending to the game would be the "Leave"-Ending, where he leaves with Laura. While the japanese director pobably aimed for the "In Water"-Ending to be the most canon one, as Mary's body apparently is inside the car at the start of the game and that sort of is a japanese suicide thing, it was explained like that by the actor of James.
Guy Cihi later changed his mind about the leave ending as he decided it wasn't the most realistic outcome and decided that In Water is the most realistic outcome for James....also i believe In Water is the canon ending as in Silent Hill 4 James dad Frank gives Henry a picture and when Henry examines it he says that Frank gave it him and that Franks son and daughter-in-law went "missing" in Silent Hill so of all the SH 2 endings the in water ending is most likely

Looking at what was linked in the pinned comment, the ending is picked based on whatever has the most points depending on player action, favoring endings that have not yet been achieved if there's a tie (favoring "In Water" if there's a tie and all endings have been achieved). Each ending starts with a different base total of points that can go either up or down depending on certain criteria. "Leave" starts at 5 points and seems very 1st blind playthrough likely (gain points by healing to full and having "wasting" some potential healing of the item, and looking at certain notes takes points away from the Maria ending, making this one much more likely if a player is constantly healing and looking at everything, like a new player is more likely to do. "Maria" starts at 3 points, and mainly gains points by being nice to Maria (not running off without her, not bumping into her, not letting her get hurt, checking up on her when she's left before, trying to re-enter rooms where she died, etc). The Maria ending has by far the most ways of gaining points for it, but also losing points for it (some examples being examining Mary's letter or directly harming Maria yourself). "In Water" starts at 2 points, and while I agree with Carci that it seems by far the hardest point-based ending to get, it still feels like the "Leave" ending to me where you could get this one just by stumbling into it by looking at things. The most prominent feature of this ending is that you gain points for having a "bad health score", which pretty much means "the amount of time spent at 50% Max HP or lower". The longer you don't heal, or can't heal, the higher your total "bad health score". So a player that gets hit a lot and never has healing items, or saves healing items until they feel absolutely necessary to use, is more likely to get this ending. And while no ending is canon, Pyramid Head's designer stated that he designed it with the "In Water" ending in mind, given James's desire to be punished for what he's done. The game also prominently features flooding and water-based obstacles, such as in the first Pyramid Head fight where it walks into the flooded staircase after the fight before letting you continue. I find it interesting that this is most likely the hardest ending to get, but seemed to be one with the most things foreshadowing to it. I don't know the precise point totals for this run, given I don't know which of the algorithm-based requirements were met, or what the first ending achieved was (given we can see it says "endings: 2/4" on the result screen), but from I can tell this run has these point totals: * Maria - 6 points (3 base, 1 for time spent near Maria (reported bugged in the linked Ending Mechanics, which the author stating: "This number will always count up when Maria is not with you. wow i actually never drew that connection between the flooding and the in water ending. makes me wonder if the entirety of Silent Hill 2 is just purgatory. the only sense i could make of why Laura is there is that she died from whatever disease she had, such that she'd be in the same hospital as Mary.
I've been speedrunning this game alot and even tho I do it on easy, some of your tricks still help out! I play it on my PS2 with no mods n such... just straightforward. My best time now is 50min 11sec!🥰 Always like to see if I can beat a past best time. Not sure if I can beat this time, but somehow end up doing better! I'm addicted haha! Thanks 😊
strategy guides are kickass because they contain the data you don’t have to keep in your head at all times. just plug in the useful data to the thing you’re trying to apply it to, and see what happens. :D
@@CarcinogenSDA I still have a lot of my old guides going back to DKC trilogy on SNES all the way up to MGS3 on PS2 :). No harm in using a good visual medium to help you. I like a lot more than GameFAQs, although I will use GF if I can't find a guide in PDF form on emuparadise (theres a script that still lets you grab guides, check reddit) and archive.org.

I actually laughed at that. I was like "yeah, you though your punishment was over? Think again" No one ever escapes Silent Hill. Once you enter, there's no turning back.
I forgot how well made the intro of the game is done, when that gold music tunes in and you feel the character melancholy, masterful display of game design
I love how he goes into that wardrobe with his light on to hide, even though it's literally a slat door, that's toddler level hiding skills right there

@@vicentegeonix In it's time, it was one of the best looking games ever. It's unrealistic and unreasonable to expect it to look like a modern game. Even so, it still holds up pretty well. The dark gritty and grimy textures work expertly for the developers intended atmospheric effect.
@@vicentegeonix I was referring to your question that you specifically asked about the graphics. He also wrote "or near perfect." That's 100% debatable of course. As there is no established criteria for what constitutes a "perfect" video game. Though if the majority opinions of horror gaming fans can be used as a determining factor, then Silent Hill 2 is at the very least one the greatest horror games ever made.

i stumbled upon your channel looking for gameplays of RE2 Remake. ive been watching a lot of your videos since then. i dont have a decent pc or a console so watching you play is the best thing ever.
I remember I had the demo to this game back before it came out, and I got a few minutes in to a dark alley with some babies coming towards me and I slapped the power button on the playstation and went outside xD

I feel they really captured Eddie's madness in this story. This Silent Hill is by a long shot my favourite part in the series, purely because of how psychological the themes were, they hit hard and they hit deep.
Eddie's use of the word 'your' shouldn't be bugging me this much, but damn, that made the final release. Great playthrough as always, really enjoy the commentary and presentation of the videos!

Great video brother! Damn I wish they would bring this series back. I would say maybe they should remake this like RE2, but it's so good I don't think they could capture the horror like they did in this one. Truly epic and horrifying.
Holy hell, what a game. I forgot how good it is, and how odd as Balls it was too. Never played the first game but I picked this game up just for the hell of it and took forever to beat it cause the damn riddles were hard to understand( I had no internet back then and being young you know?). But Man this game is goooooood. You pointed out the Wall thing, I didn't noticed til you mentioned it and watching /listening to this with headphones made me laugh a lot whenever i heard a BAH-DONK! sound. One other thing you mentioned was the amount of dead space in this game. This was another thing that I couldn't figure out if I was going the right way or not. The fog and darkness felt like I was running FOREVER, Super Mario 64 endless stairs style. Good show man, you played well and made this game great to watch/listen too.

This game is a masterpiece that hits on the psychological and emotional level. It's brilliant.
I think it's too awkward to be a masterpiece, with its moments of moon logic and technical difficulties. Still, it's the best game in my eyes.

It's sad that James and Eddie have a kind of a nice conversation at first but then later end up killing each other

UrielManX7 well you can escape silent hill. It’s by overcoming your darkest fears and not giving in to the horror you will see

SH and especially 2 were ahead of their time. 2 will always surprise me. Everything about this game is perfect or near perfect.

@@vicentegeonix In it's time, it was one of the best looking games ever. It's unrealistic and unreasonable to expect it to look like a modern game. Even so, it still holds up pretty well. The dark gritty and grimy textures work expertly for the developers intended atmospheric effect.

@@vicentegeonix I was referring to your question that you specifically asked about the graphics. He also wrote "or near perfect." That's 100% debatable of course. As there is no established criteria for what constitutes a "perfect" video game. Though if the majority opinions of horror gaming fans can be used as a determining factor, then Silent Hill 2 is at the very least one the greatest horror games ever made.

I remember I had the demo to this game back before it came out, and I got a few minutes in to a dark alley with some babies coming towards me and I slapped the power button on the playstation and went outside xD

I feel they really captured Eddie's madness in this story. This Silent Hill is by a long shot my favourite part in the series, purely because of how psychological the themes were, they hit hard and they hit deep.
That spoken letter part for the ending was really well done. Choked me up at times myself.

Great video brother! Damn I wish they would bring this series back. I would say maybe they should remake this like RE2, but it's so good I don't think they could capture the horror like they did in this one. Truly epic and horrifying.

Holy hell, what a game. I forgot how good it is, and how odd as Balls it was too. Never played the first game but I picked this game up just for the hell of it and took forever to beat it cause the damn riddles were hard to understand( I had no internet back then and being young you know?). But Man this game is goooooood.
You pointed out the Wall thing, I didn't noticed til you mentioned it and watching /listening to this with headphones made me laugh a lot whenever i heard a BAH-DONK! sound. One other thing you mentioned was the amount of dead space in this game. This was another thing that I couldn't figure out if I was going the right way or not. The fog and darkness felt like I was running FOREVER, Super Mario 64 endless stairs style.
