I did actually fix this one up a bit before reuploading, since I had the chance to. I removed the bad second half of the End of Small Sanctuary section, and fixed one really loud audio clipping issue.

It isn't anything up to my modern standard of mixing because the balancing is awful like some of my older mixes, but I couldn't change much of that.

It's strange, but these oldschool graphics have a thousand times more atmosphere for me than the latest high-end graphics.
For sure, I always liked the older Grand Theft Autos because of that. More emphasis on game art so less on technology and graphics. Oh god I miss PS2/PS1 and even PS3 eras. Now it's just ultra consumer capitalist shit. Back then, video games were for nerds and outcasts, now it's more superficial.

Because 90% of games are cinematic movie garbage games mostly from the west these type of games were made with love, special effects and movements you appreciate every detail the jump from PS1 to PS2 was something you had to experience and happy i did.

feels weird to mix silent hill and relaxing in the same sentence, but incredibly right at the same time
Musically speaking, he was inspired by 90s Trip-Hop, which has inspired modern day 2010-20s "lofi hiphop/chillhop", although the chords are more in the minor.
However, his darker in-game music was inspired by Industrial(dark ambient, death industrial) style of music.

My dad used to play Silent Hill games since I was 2 (basically when Silent Hill 2 came out), and till I was 6 I still have small memories from when I was next to him and he was playing it. Then at 11 I played it myself for the first time, and let me tell you, this game became my escape from all the hard stuff I was going through in life till this day😭. Even now that my dad’s not around that much, I’m thankful he introduced me to some of the most amazing things that I enjoy even now at 21... Thanks dad, hope we’ll meet again someday and play Silent Hill 2 together like the old times.
Just remembered that Silent Hill 2 came out in 2001, and Silent Hill 3 came out in 2003, so I kinda mixed up the dates. I was 2 in 2003, but my dad loved to play Silent Hill 2 the most around that time. I know that it doesn’t matter, just wanted to correct myself :))

I suffer from severe anxiety and early stages of depression. Every now and then, when my crisis rises and I lost track of my own mind, I always come back here. This video became my safe harbor where I can breathe peacefully and regain the rhythm of my heartbeat. If the one good person who made it ever read my comment, thanks buddy. You helped me more times than I can remember. 💜
It always hurts when these videos get taken down. Now I can't go back and read the many comments of people sharing their experience with the series. Hopefully this comment section picks up again.
If it's ok, I'll share mine. I played silent hill 2 a couple years after it came out, when I was in middle school. I remember being so scared late one night while playing that I had to dash to the kitchen, fearful that one of the fleshy straight jacket monsters would appear at any moment. More than the scares, though, was how the game played a part in shaping how I saw the world around me, how I myself thought. Its melancholy was like a mirror to my childhood depression and isolation. It was a safe way to explore the ideas of guilt, our inner demons, and how they manifest in our thoughts and actions. In conversations with high school friends, it taught me about skillful writing, symbolism, and crafting naratives that invite thought and self-reflection. The music is a familiar blanket to wrap up in when the depression, anxiety, and trauma of my life intrudes again. I came back to listen again because as I sat in bad, just diagnosed with a new illness and an uncertain future, the words of Mary's letter echoed in my mind. "In my restless dreams, I see that town. Silent Hill." As I dream of a carefree youth tainted by the rose tinted glasses of time, ever at my periphery are the crawling horrors of all that I have endured, all of my guilt, and the fear of falling back into the darkness.

I used to be addicted to the vibe of Silent Hill when I was a kid, and now growing old and looking at the past the game remains relevant. Its connection to karma and manifestations of our pain we live, and living ego death really is created in this game threw its beauty and horror with the bipolarity of existence, where dreams are made in a nightmare without seeing we are blind to ourselves always looking for something that we can never embody making our own hells.

I've seen this picture and I admit it's a bit unsettling, but one of main artists in Team Silent involved in creating the design of the of the characters, Masahiro Ito, confirmed that it was fake. James is looking at his own reflection, or at least trying to, considering the events that led up to that moment...
It's hard to explain why atmospheres like this make some of us feel at peace. For me, it's because all the modern society bullshit disappears, and you're left alone (not lonely) with your soul and the sound of the rain. If I were in the Silent Hill no monster-Foggy Realm, I'd just look for other broken individuals and we'd walk around, enjoy nature, maybe listen to some music at the Diner, take care of each other...
I dream of these scenarios in my head, an escape from the modern "Earth" realm to be with others who share thoughts and feelings. I'll be the first you find, then together, we can search for the rest ^-^

Why do I have this very strong urge to go back in time to the early 2000s when I used to be a kid, oblivious to what is happening in the world, going to school and coming back and spend the rest of the day playing video games alone in the dark while it's raining outside! Existence hasn't changed, we have! And the world we live in isn't as happy as we thought it would be. I would give the rest of my adult boring life for one day as a kid, but I know and you know it is impossible.

Smoke from the Canadian wildfires has been drifting into my town the last couple days. This has never happened here before - but it will happen more and more. There’s this pallid, ghostly mask to everything outside, and it’s much denser and more perpetual than fog. I’m moving away permanently in a couple weeks, so I’ve been walking around familiar spots from my childhood listening to this soundtrack. The smoke and the lack of people (who are staying inside due to the smoke) have made it feel like some abandoned and alien place.
This is both sad and beautiful. I also see smoke from forest fires over the city almost every summer and it reminds me how much I want to get out of this place where no one cares about anything. One day I probably will

Would you ever consider doing a version with the rain volume turned up a bit? I like the music but you can hardly hear the rain. Some tracks are a bit loud so I keep the video on a lower volume but then I can't hear the rain. Thanks for taking time out of your day to help others sleep haha. Yeah it's so beautiful but also so depressing especially knowing what happens to Lisa.
I alternate listening to this and the Resident Evil mix during day-long research sessions for my thesis. One of my favorite BGM mixes for losing your mind in a relaxing way.
This mix legit helped me get the part on a film. They let me use my own music to audition and I used the Stray Child on point, they loved it.

I was around 8 years old and i used to chill on the couch watching my bigger brother playing silent hill 1 & 2, when it was still day outside we used to close all the window shatters in order to block all the sunlight coming in the house and we were sitting in complete darkness playing this masterpiece of a series.

I listen to this while studying organic chemistry, my favorite subject. A lot of these themes are starting to become associated with it to me. These videos are an immense help to a lot of us! Definitely helps me focus.
This sounds like the kinda music played for someone that has made horrible mistakes and now they are trying to figure out how or why they are still alive.

KONAMI no longer employs people who know how to make games; they all left the company a long time ago. KONAMI makes poccinco machines. They don't respect the fans of their game series, they don't respect their heritage.
A remake of the second Silent Hill game has been announced. I imagine it will be weak. They made remasters for the second and third games - they were disgraceful. Fan modified PC versions of these games are much better quality.
You know what's sad? No matter what lazy garbage the big companies make, they will sell it at full price, and the stupid ones will make pre-orders or people will buy it! Redfail, Starfield, Failout 76, RDR 2023, Diablo 4, Diablo Immortals, WarCraft 3 Refunded, Saints Row 2022, GTA degenerative trilogy... Modern players are naive victims of marketing and simply gullible idiots.
I will pay cash only for what I see with my own eyes and it must be of high quality!
If the SH2Remake turns out to be weaker than the original, I won’t be tormented by my conscience for purchasing the version from the Empress.
@@Jack_Hell So well said, i agree completely. Unfortunately that's true for many game companies nowadays (especially CAPCOM), not just Team Silent/Konami. Mark Hamill said it best: "That's because modern movies/games are made by children - for children"
