Your vid came up legit the second video on the right while watching this one, so I guess one of the best, at least for me, since I was planning on watching that one next. 😁
@@kylegrefe4399 ah, then you mean energy of impact (force is for modeling process over time, not instant things like impact). okay, that may make sense. actually, being clad in armor gives you more acceleration than drag (braking agains air), so I believe the velocity of impact could be a bit larger when armored. also, if you land on legs, then armor without exosceleton-like frame increases the impact on legs even if velocity the same. or if you land on the side, and your armor is not paddded and is not hard-framed, then the armor chunks from the other side will squish body a bit, possibly making some harm. but, armor is usually padded, which is good for energy dissipation and hard armor distributes impact over the larger region of body, decreasing impact to the each part of region. and some sets of hard-framed armor could work as exosceleton, protecting legs from the weight of armor itself. so... I think, it's maybe easier to break a limb or ribs when land on that limb when you wearing armor with heavy non-linked parts. but I really doubt that armoring increases chance of death due to fall from critical height (which is relevant to the case of dropping to majula pit).

As someone who had a reaper only pvp build with sorcery enchants, usually the damage sweet spot is where the point of the reaper hits. For hitting around shields, you have to actually position yourself so the point of the reaper hits around the shield. Too close? Blocked. Too far? Hit the handle so it does no damage. Took me around 100 hours to get this down. But when you get it down, it is honestly one of the best weapons in the game in my honest opinion.
Best guess for the durability glitch is that the scythes have multiple hitboxes for each damage multiplier, which hit at the same time and apply more durability damage on big dudes, since they can be hit by more than one part of the swing beacause of their size
I think what I love most about Lemon's videos is that I can always learn life lessons no matter the game or the challenge. Today's episode was all about Death and letting go, for example.

14:40 I think this is actually a scyte reforged in a way that is more functional as a weapon. Also fun fact - Polish peasant using scythes set like that in uprisigns used to be called scythemen
If you are talking about the scythe that doesn't look like a scythe. That's a war scythe. The first war scythes were just scythes with their blades mounted in parallel with the handle instead of perpendicular like normal scythes.
That isn't a scythe. It's a bardiche. A war scythe is an actual separate thing that came about as an evolution from what DS2 incorrectly calls a great machete.
@@Raggrum This is not, in fact, a war scythe. It's a Bardiche, a completely separate type of polearm. It also bears mentioning that War Scythes never were just scythe blades attached to the handle differently. An actual scythe blade would both be too heavy and be almost guaranteed to break if you tried to use it like that. War Scythes had always been forged as weapons, the name stemming from a superficial resemblance.
You know, if you truly want to test your patience you should try beating Darkest Dungeon 2 with only firebombs. Two of the classes have firebomb equivalents (Runaway has multiple firebombs and Plague Doctor has plague grenades.)

TLDR: Split damage is good in DS2 because defense is bad. So... DS2 is the only game where physical damage has absorption (mitigating damage by a flat [and frankly paltry] amount), but elemental damage has percentile resistance with no absorption. That means that the higher AR from elemental-damage weapons goes through MUCH more effectively, and most enemies do not resist Lightning, while Dark can get crazy scaling. So, something like a physical Scythe would do something like 250 physical (minus 6-10 damage from slash defense, seriously, it's pitiful). But a Dark Scythe would do something like 170 physical and 170 dark (minus 56 or so from the standard 30% elemental defense) for a nice 274 actual damage punching through. And that's _before_ Dark scaling. Similarly, if you want survivability, gouge HP. Defense is pitiful, elemental defense can be handled by rings and buffs, and poise is unreliable.
I appreciate seeing people run through DS2. I just couldn't wrap my head around it and wasn't having fun with it, so it's interesting seeing what the game has.
14:38 the reason that's classified as a scythe is because weapons were hard to make reliably back in the day, so tools being repurposed was the norm. A scythe normally meant to harvest crops was refitted and sharpened to be used more like a poleaxe. The more you know.
The repurposing thing is a common misconception. If you just put a scythe blade onto a pole in order to make it point forwards it would be too heavy and brittle to use. There is a polearm called a war scythe, but that name stems from the fact that the blade bears superficial resemblance to that of a scythe, not that it is made from one. Plus, the "Scythe" in the game is a Bardiche.
Gravity is a Reaper, slicing webs and wings, plummet to the Earth now, child, hear Death's Windsong sing. There, I made poetry to justify the gravity kills.
So fun fact: the reason that “scythe” looks like a halberd is because it’s a war scythe, which looked a lot like halberds. Big ol’ crescent blades meant for harvesting crops don’t do too well against people in armor, as it turns out
It is not, im fact, a war scythe. It's a Bardiche, a style of halberd that became popular with arquebusiers who would use the axe head as a rest for their firearm to make aiming in the field easier. If you want to know what an actual war scythe looks like, Loretta's War Sickle from Elden Ring is not bad for reference, if you disregard the fact that it's way too fancy.
I don‘t know why, but I your words about the many faces of death brought tears to my eyes. I put my dog to sleep last week and I can imagine how a figure helped my dog to cross the bridge to heaven. Thanks
32:02 Fun fact about Ds2. Even though the mid roll threshold is between 60-70%, there is a very significant penalty to stamina regen when above 59.9%. So much so that even the Cloranthy ring doesn't fully mitigate the penalty. But even lower equipment thresholds see penalties of up to 15% stamina recovery speed. This is why being naked is used by most speedrunners.
Actually if you were in the company of Champions while farming your first Scythe, Then you couldn't have summoned any NPCs as Company of Champions doesn't let you summon NPCs or Players into your world, only red phantoms can invade
I made a whole grim reaper build in DS2 and learned alot about how the scythes work in the process. They have a 'shaft' hitbox and a 'blade' hitbox, the blade doing buffed damage, and the shaft doing debuffed damage. Its more consistant than it seems, but it depends on the scythe, some of them have much smaller 'blade' hitboxes than others, but its all about getting familiar with your scythe of chocie and learning the proper spacing for its blade to hit more often than its shaft.
The reason why being nude makes you take less falling damage is because the heavier you are in the game, the faster you fall, and therefore, the more damage you take.
the fact you have helldivers music playing when you dived into "hell" really caught me off guard. well done Lemon! can i expect to see challenge runs of a "beating an entire level 9 mission using nothing but fire nades?"
I always like these kinds of challenge runs, where its not some struggle to see if its even possible to do it (I still enjoy those) but where its just playing the game a little differently and seeing what happens when you do it
I've been missing the lemon dark souls challenge vids and one has finally arrived, one that I really enjoyed because scythes are just awesome I'm pleasantly surprised though that ds2 being the first large boss amount souls game there's only 3 scythes compared to the usual one or two of each game ig at the end of the day it's similar to it's brethren
Why did lemon not get the covetous gold serpent ring +1? Or the jester's cap? He stopped by Magerold so he was there. Also you can get Gren's scythe, just have to buy it from Malentia after killing him. On top of that, he could have gotten the bracing knuckle ring +2 easily from undead crypt.
Does the Reaper Weapon Class maybe have sweetspot damage that’s different for each attack? Like horizontal right swing, horizontal left swing, vertical swing.
I have to say about the invader comment. I agree with you that they are hard because they are similar to your character and have a build per say. But the reason they are harder is because that the 'main bosses' in the game have patterns or tell or weak spots whereas the invaders don't they are unpredictable just like the player. Love the vids man. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
I love the story of the reaper coming about at the end of every age to put an end to the flame and extinguish it but it's embers are lit again but soon, the fire will fade...
Always sweet to see a new video from you! Have you considered making a Monster Hunter challenge video? I never played Dark Souls till your videos got me to start it and the combat flow reminds me of monster hunter and some weapon types are basically challenge modes in the early parts. One of them is the gunlance. The answer to the question what would happen if a lance and fire bombs had babies

I really love the fact you chose the Cult of the Lamb music for this one - good choice :)
Ayy I've been on a huge dark souls 2 grind the last couple weeks and this beauty drops,
Thanks Melon :)
Gravity is a Reaper, slicing webs and wings, plummet to the Earth now, child, hear Death's Windsong sing.
There, I made poetry to justify the gravity kills.
I dunno if its just been one of those weeks, but hearing Lemon say "hope youre doing well" in his lively, friendly tone genuinly made me grin
That durability hit during Sinh, I don't even have words that's just ridiculous
But when will there a deaths gambit video? When you play truly as the instrument of death to put down the unwilling
I don‘t know why, but I your words about the many faces of death brought tears to my eyes. I put my dog to sleep last week and I can imagine how a figure helped my dog to cross the bridge to heaven. Thanks
I’ve recently discovered this guys challenge runs and been binging them. Nice to see a new one
Theses are really fun to just listen to at work. It's like a story time. Telling the epic a run long long ago
I like how lemon presents death as a welcoming friend instead of a dark force that everyone needs to fear
Actually if you were in the company of Champions while farming your first Scythe, Then you couldn't have summoned any NPCs as Company of Champions doesn't let you summon NPCs or Players into your world, only red phantoms can invade
...uhhhh yeah! Exactly! See, firebombs were needed!
Allegedly the fire near Creighton can hurt the scythe enemies, though :/
Lord Lemon has returned to grace us with content! Praise be! 🎉🎊
I adore that lemon quoted "cause its easy, and it does a lot of damage." Made me smile
Finally set aside time to watch this. Lemon, you are great. May your patience ever unwavering, and your firebombs burn bright for the goddess!
Hearing that "Because it's easy. And it does a lot of damage" brings back memories. Happy memories, souls memories, heck even Happy souls memories
The fact that Lemon made a Helldrivers reference would make Commander Xavier happy
I actually did already, and beat MHW with only the Kinsect (the bug, not the glaive) :)
@@TheBacklogs Wel I be damned you are a fountain of content and gamer with many talents. I salute you fire bomb master
