- Acclaimed keyboardist and composer Larry Goldings (John Mayer, James Taylor) investigates ways to add color and emotion to a standard I, IV, V chord progression.
This is wonderful! Thank you Larry.
Thank you, Larry. This is a simple lesson, but what you've taught is truly golden.
That's so true. I agree.
It looks and sounds simple but takes a great amount of skill and mastery to execute
Hilarious intro, Larry! I hope people catch that great humor. Thanks so much for the phenomenal lesson. Blessings, brother!
you can hear this beautiful concept (often notated as +2) all over Larry Goldings work with James Taylor. And also his wonderful updating and correction of Thelonious Monk tunes. ;^)
Cool hat! And the content is great too, of course!
moving the bass line A to Bb to C and doing any of the stuff on top of it, he shows is very sparkly and open
but he probably got to that later.....he did......the point is, by moving the bass line to start on A completely changes the sound from the start...and you'll find stuff on top intuitively that works.....even if you don't get it down to a science like Larry,,, even if
"it is science".....as he says.
Beautiful! Can’t say it enough !
Wow! dig that ninth sound. Excellent lesson, thanks!
superb. thanks
Nice to see you here.
Very cool and engaging changes to the basic chords.. awesome :)
Thank you so much Larry G.
So simple, yet so much possibility!
Living like Larry 😉
Thanks, Larry!
Love him.
found you through the "You'll Hear It" boys, Adam Maness & Peter Martin, who recommended "Solidity". Thank you very much for this video!
Larry is an incredible keyboard player- both organ AND other keyboards. Check out the Steve Gadd Band live at Leverkusener in 2015 here on YT. Some of the best live music ever made.

I-IV-V is everywhere... but somehow always makes me think of "La Bamba"
