Tried to do the same, it just passes above everyones head. Those Monk tunes, Maiden Voyage, Giant Steps....tried to use the same concepts when playing some standards, but it's darn difficult to play only butter chords.

I am amazed at how people take this seriously and write negative comments to "criticize" it!! I mean.....look at the hairpiece, the fake accent and especially the things he says about the music which of course, if you are a serious musician and especially a jazz musician, you would know right away he is making this up!! I thought classical guys had no sense of humor but I guess many jazz musicians are worse!!

Hans, My Jazz professor says that sus4 means sustain for four beats. This is like TAB for piano - instead of writing a whole note on the staff write sus4, sus3.5, sus2, sus 1.5, sus0.0625,etc...

Amazing video showing some jazzprinciples and how to make Monks music romantic and listenable. I have a specific question. How on do you manage to do the warmup excercise leaning the arms outwards. I have been trying for a week but fails miserably, are there any simpler excercises one can do before reaching your level? Also I really would like to attend a master class with you, how do I sign up?
