FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video! - Навчання та стиль
I have suffered from severe depression and couldnt seem to find anything that inspired me to fell joyful or excited for any length of time,, even though I am a very successful business woman,,,,, BUT SINCE I HAVE FOUND THIS LOVELY ITALIAN GRANDMA,, COOKING AND CHATTING SO PERSONALLY WITH SUCH PASSION, LOVE AND PLAYFULNESS,,,, I AM HEALED WITHIN,,, BECAUSE HER SENSE OF LIGHT SPIRIT IS THE TRUE HEALING BALM THAT OUR DOWNTRODDEN WORLD SO DESPERATELY NEEDS! AMEN
Thank you for your words , they fill my heart with love. God Bless.
I need someone like this to be my neighbor. She is so inspiring! I, too, suffer from depression even though I have a lot in my life to keep me busy; it's difficult to stay inspired. Gina, and other spirits like her, are a true blessing!!!
Same today... If she was close id be over there all the time

She's adorable! I'd eat anything she made. Gina is an Italian Grandma to be proud of.
her english is like beautiful music to my ears.
Well said !!!
Agreed
To Grandma Ginas family...you have a living treasure here. It is wonderful that you are documenting her talent and life this way. Kudos to you, and give her a hug and a kiss from all of us who can no longer hug and kiss our own grandmothers. Much love to you all!
Exactly this
Gina you remind me so much of my grandma who was from CompobassoFiorito Sicily, my grandpa was Abruzzi. Every Sunday the whole family would get together for Sunday Sauce. Including my cousins aunts and uncles and grandparents there were 23 of us. I think we ate in shifts, men first, kids then all the women. In any case no one was allowed in the kitchen unless you were from the immediate family or 100% italian.. We also always had fresh italian bread from the corner store and italian cookies for desert. After dinner the men played cards and drank then we went into the living room, my father played guitar and my grandpa and uncles would sing italian songs. I think the problem with our country today is the lack of tradition and culture and a home cooked meal with warmth and love. Thank you for your great recipes and videos. May God Bless you. Ciantani. Alfredo
Wouldn't you love to have a little Italian Grandma like this, I would.
❤yesssss❤
She is better than any food network chef out there. What a blessing! Thank you for sharing her 💕
Amen to that!!!
Absolutely, I’ve been binge watching for 2 days lol. I normally get bored with long cooking videos , but watching her is like being in the kitchen with her... I’m hooked
She is wonderful. Love her recipes and instructions. Perfect
J C Certo!!!!!
Italian pasta
I am from the south and married an Italian from NY who used to talk about his grandma’s “gravy”. I always thought gravy was brown and you put it on fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Now I know what he was talking about and I cook “Grandma’s Sunday Sauce/Gravy with Meatballs”. She is so sweet and I play the video in the kitchen when I make this and pretend we are cooking together.
I’m Italian and in our family we call it sauce. Gravy is for roasts and other meat. I do appreciate other people’s ways of doing things! Some people use water in their recipe of meatballs, others milk. Some use breadcrumbs . We, in my family soak bread in water and saturate it, then squeeze all of the liquid out (as much as you can!) of sliced bread. No breadcrumbs! 😊 by the way, I live in CT.
Irish woman in the south married Italian Scott and I hear about all the wonderful food! Especially Meatballs and Sauce ! Just like his Mother and family friends houses I got to do this Thank you Gina ❤
Guard this beautiful lady at all costs! She's an absolute gem!
WHO EVER IT IS HELPING HER RECORD THIS, GOD BLESS YOU FOR HELPING TO PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF HER LIFE'S COOKING.
As long as it's not her daughter, you know she is behind the camera because she always barking at ol girl on how it should be cooked 😳 can you believe it😒👎I know Italians talk like they are always arguing, grew up with them, partner is Sicilian. Na the daughter is a bit of a bully in my opinion. The boys are great with her. Watch enough and you will know when she filming. Love you Nonna sorry your daughter not very patient or respectful to you.
Someone needs to give her own cooking show....not just youtube. She's wonderful
Those of you that DON'T like the video.....
Get OFF the CHANNEL.!!!!!!
.... Love this BEAUTIFUL lady Gina......love her cooking....
Don't let the door hit ya on the way OUT!!!!!!!!
Bye Bye !!!!! 👋 👋 👋
Love you Gina❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Liking Nonny Gina is what separates the good people from the bad people. She is the SALT OF THE EARTH. LOVE HER!!!!!
Most of the people on here are kind. But, I feel bad for grandma that she has to look at the snide, the critical and the sometimes nasty. I guess it is a reflection of the growing nastiness in society.
Darling grandma, you are most certainly a force of nature. You make me happy.
My Calabrese born Grandma spoke exactly this way.
Cooked this way.
Great channel
Look at how she lights up when she talks about grandkids calling before coming over, "What do you wany to eat, I want to cook what you like!" Bless her, she is heaven sent!
I truelly never comment on videos. But for Gina I have to. I'd love to thank her for passing down her knowledge to all of us. She truelly is an amazing women.
What a wonderful woman, Anybody who has had a grandma like this knows just how loving and special they are and how they are missed when they are gone. I really miss going to my grandma's house and enjoying that wonderful food that she put so much love into fixing for us.
Agreed!
Cooking keeps her young! She’s 85!
God Bless her
Everyone understands GOD BLESS AMERICA.... Much better said with an accent. Then again.... Who doesn't love a Grandma... God Bless Grandma...
Yes, God bless her for sure.
She's wonderful !
Who needs all these celebrity chefs when you can cook like this amazing lady! The real deal! Thank you for sharing your great cooking with us grandma! Grazie!
When Gina speaks, the whole world's listening~ ❤
What a sweet, sweet lady. I could listen to her talk for hours..........🥰
WHOEVER'S MOM OR GRANDMA THIS IS?! IS REALLY BLESSED! THIS WOMAN CAN (REALLY) COOK! :)
Your English is fine Gina. We are the lucky ones. To see how you make this up traditionally. Nobody shows us this, but you do. Many thanks for that.
This brought me joy and took me right back to when I was 5. My best friend was Nica and her Italian Nonna would cook every Sunday. She’d let us sit and watch her in the kitchen. She didn’t speak a word of English, but we always knew what she was saying. Thank you for sharing this video with the world! Your mama is delightful!
Is it just me, or does Gina warm your heart right to the core. I think I gained 10 pounds just watching this.
Reminds me of my youth when my grandma would cook just like this --- when I close my eyes, I can actually smell this.
You speak English beautifully,Gina! My whole family loves your accent🤗❤️
Me too
Hello Gina. I watched this video and then made it the exact way you demonstrated for dinner. My family RAVED about how good it was. Thank you so very much for teaching me.
I haven't heard the sound of my Gramma Terese's beautiful voice since 1970...until now: Until I "met" Ms. Gina on UA-cam. Listening to her speak, her lovely singing, and the decades melt away and I'm back in Gramma's kitchen. She, too, had her own way of doing things and nothing would change her mind. Tongs? No way. Two forks are the only way to do it. And forget the closet full of giant percolator coffee pots she was given as gifts. It was the small aluminum pot or nothing :) These videos always take me back to that happy time in my childhood and for that I am beyond grateful. Priceless! Now off to buy the book! Thank you and God bless.
Don't apologize for your English, or for anything! Your cooking is superb and you are perfect!!
Gina is a lovely lady and I enjoy watching her cook. Watching Gina cook is better than watching the cooking channel on HGTV. Your family is blessed to have you. God bless you Gina and thank you.
To all the people commenting: If you can't say something nice...Don't comment...this woman (Gina) is doing things HER WAY...She isn't telling you to do it her way...EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN WAY OF DOING THINGS...I wish my Italian grandma was still alive...Gina is a gift to us...she cooks with old traditional style...I appreciate her...I love everything about her...God bless you Gina...❤️❤️❤️
Gloria Burns Amen!!!
I was lucky enough to have my wonderful Italian Nonna, Mary. She came to the USA in 1918 from Calabria, Italy. She didn’t speak a word of English when she came here. Gina, you remind me so much of my Nonna. She too, was a wonderful cook. God Bless You, Gina!!
I've ate many of her recipes. She is the best Italian cook on UA-cam. Better then Pro Chefs.
The Italian language, :) making the coolest, funniest and least awkward English accent of them all. It’s a treat to listen to this lady talk and explain what she is doing.
I watched this video three times, then went to the store and bought everything and made her sauce! It came out wonderful. Thanks so much for posting this, now I can make my own sauce. I put two containers in the freezer and will have the rest of the sauce with dinner tomorrow night. Ciao bella Nonna!
Charlene Corea-Long oh no after reading you comment and seeing this video now I am going to do the same
I burn water but I could listen to this woman all day.
I understand Gina just fine. Tell her she speaks English just fine. She’s a beautiful lady and her voice sounds like a beautiful Italian song!
I am a chef in France, I worck in London for a long time, like I just say I am working in France, love to wach clasic Italian cuisine, old style cooking, loth of hugs frome Cannes France dear Gina
So, I'm a professional chef. At work, none of my cooks cook with the love and passion that Gina does. This video was like therapy. Not once did I say N O O O ,???, What are you doing????
I absolutely love watching this lady she reminds me of my grandmother
I am so thankful to have found your videos. You really remind me so much of my mother and my grandmother. Your gravy is exactly our recipe to the T, homemade sauce and all. Watching you cook all your recipes brought tears to my eyes as it was like watching my mom cook for us again. My mom passed away 5 years ago and my dad passed away almost 10 years ago. Your videos really touched me so much and brought back so many wonderful memories, thank you.
My parents came to America from Italy in the late 60's and they taught us all their traditions such as: canning & preserving everything. We would make homemade tagliatelle, lasagna and ravioli. Everything came fresh from the garden. We had such a huge garden growing up. My dad would also make his homemade vino, soppressata and capocollo every year at the exact time. We all had to help out, especially when it came time to the week long project of canning 500 mason jars of tomatoe puree. I'm very thankful to have been taught these traditions along with knowing how to speak the language. It's very important to pass these wonderful traditions down. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to watching you cook up some more delicious and traditional recipes. Ciao ciao.
That's not cooking, that's pure love
Dear Gina, please sing more I love when you sing. Your recipes are the best. I could watch and listen to you all day. God bless you and keep singing.
I second that! Love to listen to her sing and love the joy that she has for cooking. Probably more than her joy for cooking is her joy for cooking for people. My great-grandmother wasn't Italian, but was Slovak. Just like Gina, she knew not only knew how to cook really good but the cherry on top was the the joy of service she had in cooking for both her family and people in general. If somebody came to visit, she would run to the kitchen to prepare food for them. On a regular basis, she would cook for all of the widows that lived near her and have them over or have somebody deliver the food to them. Hopefully we can get back to this kind of "old-world" mentality of cooking real food, instead of the fast-paced lives that most of us are living that is causing anxiety, depression, and a sense of disconnect from people and the food we eat.
Great recipes Gina. Your english is perfect to me. I grew up in an italian family. You remind me of better times when we used to spend time cooking, laughing and eating. Lots of Love to you and your Family
You speak amazing English. Don’t ever lose your Italian accent though. I LOVE it!
I wish I could spend a day in her kitchen cooking with this lovely lady. She is a gem!
So sad that these Grandma's are not going to be with us much longer. My Grandma was Polish, she handed down allot of Old country recipes. Many of our great chefs today that are on TV use recipes handed down from Grandma. 1000 thumbs up Thank you for sharing this with us
Grandma (Nona Gina) you speak english very well, don't worry about the accent, it's what makes you so wonderful. God bless and thank you! xxx
What monsters are pushing thumbs down? She is wonderful and is really making me want to actually make homemade sauce and meatballs. And listening to her talk is music.
Nona Gina...you are awesome!! My name is Catania and my family is from Catania, Sicily! My father is not with us anymore but his values, traditions, and love still remain with us! Watching Nona makes me cry...she is precious!!! My papa always told me...honey you are going to miss me more than you think! OH was my papa right and watching this sweet Nona brings sweet memories! Cherish her NOW! God Bless You Nona Gina!!!!!!
Grandma Gina, I understand you perfectly!! You may laugh and that's ok, but I adopted you as my Grandma a good while back, because I didn't have a Grandma. Now I do ... you! Your family is greatly blessed to have you, Grandma.
Gina, your English is like you. Simply perfect. You are such a wonderful gift. Everyone’s Grandma. That’s you! With love to you! 💕
She’s a treasure. Period.
I will offer today’s Rosary prayer 🙏 to Grandma Gina for a healthy and happy life
On Sunday morning my mother and grandmother would go to early mass in order to come back home to make sunday salsa. My father would take me and my brothers to high mass at 11am. When we returned home my grandmother would greet us at the door with her fried meatbals on forks for me and my brothers. It's was always such a treat, not to mention the aroma that filled the house from all the cooking. I am so blessed to have had such a loving family growing up. My great grandmother lived with us and spoke little english, so we all spoke Italian at home. I remember when I was about four years old. My great grandmother who was 89 yrs old would sit me on her lap and ask me "quanto ti ami" and I would anwser " asi asi tanto con tutti il cuoro" She was so loving. We spoke in the napolitano dialect. Nerdless to say I grew up with a strong sense of my heritage and for that I am truly grateful. So Gina when I watch you make Sunday gravy I'm so happy. Gina, I can't tell enough how wonderful you are. When I read the comments from your fans, it's obvious the love to bring to everyone. God bless you always.
I love this comment
When I came home from school when I was a child, there was no food. Later in day, and in the evening, and at night, and in the morning, and......., there was still no food. And also, there was hardly enough water to drink.
What is that comment from MI. Are you mocking my post with your response? It seems sarcastic
@@vincentfiorillo6056 It wish what I wrote was not real. I wish I were just fooling around. Unfortunately everything I wrote was real. That is how my childhood was. It was just a summary.
@@mine1685 that's very sad. 😢
Your the best Grandma Gina!!! ❤
Watching this makes me miss my grandmas. You are so blessed to have her in your life. She's a treasure.
I agree ! Maybe she'll "adopt" us . LOL !
Your grandchildren are so fortunate that their Mom & Dad filmed these beautiful memories to cherish for generations!
America Loves this Woman! Xoxo........... I'm going to make all her dishes. This winter time. Xoxo
This is called Ragu alla Napoletana. It was originally from Campania and southern Lazio, but it is found all over southern Italy. Many Italian-Americans have roots from that area of Italy, and the original immigrants brought this recipe with them to the U.S., where it is still made to this day among Italian-American families.
I am 62 and Gina does remind me of my grandmother Carmella who passed away in 1981 at the age of 86. God Bless you Gina and your family.
My grandmothers name was Carmella also. She passed away in 1974 and was from Calabria. We lived on the south side of Chicago in a two flat apartment upstairs from her and my great grandmother. It was like visiting the old country whenever we went down to their apartment. Wonderful memories.
I used to work as a bartender at the Forrest theatre in Philadelphia, and all the ushers were Italian grandmothers from south philly. I would sit down in the lounge with these women, all wearing their black dresses with white laced collars, as they would talk about recipes, and cooking. I learned Italian cooking from them. They used to argue over who actually knew how to make things correctly, who was a better cook...it was wonderful. Watching your videos reminded me of them. Glad to know I learned from great true Italian grandmothers as you are showing here. Thank you for a great show.
I understand her just fine. I love her so much. I close my eyes & I hear my great grandmother. She snuck over on a ship from Italy many years ago. She's been gone for a long while now & I miss her dearly. This beautiful lady makes my day & I can get the recipes I wasn't smart enough to write down. All my love. xoxoxoxoxo
She's Fantastic...somebody is really lucky to have a such a Great Nonna!!!
Your English is charming, you remind me of my beloved french grandmother, I feel love when I watch you, thank you Gina xxx
I can't tell you how thankful I am for this. People have told me how they make their sauce & I tell them "I have an Italian Grandma on UA-cam who teaches me how to cook." Love u guys! Thanks again!!
Thank you to the son in law for taking the time to film and share Grandma Gina’s delicious recipes.
She is wonderful and I can understand her perfectly!!God bless you and your family!
I wish she was my grandma!!!!! I love to hear her talk.
Gina, I understand you perfectly! You sound like my Nona. Sometimes I cry listening and watching.
Thank you for watching. God Bless!
I absolutely love this sweet, sweet lady!
I'm just in love with Grandma Gina! Thanks for keeping all the videos long and full of Gina's real time and all her comments and singing!!!
I want so badly to come to Sunday dinner, it looks absolutely amazing! Great video thank you for sharing
My grandparents spoke like this. Grandpa made the homemade pasta in his basement every Sunday, grandma made the meat and the sauce. God how I miss them. You have a new follower.
And don't worry about your English! You speak it beautifully.
Ive just discovered Italian mama, and love her already....I lost my mama just over 10 years ago and wished I’d video taped her making all our Greek traditional dishes
Gina is a wonderful woman and Nonna. She sounds exactly like my Nonna and Zia.
How is it that, today, we believe these skills are demeaning and not worthy?
The effort and love and attention put into her cooking is priceless. And I am sure it is the same effort put into everything she does. I really hope the family around her are watching and learning to keep the traditions alive.
Tanti bacci ! Tanti anni !
Just great. Finally someone post a video with a clean/organized kitchen. I thought I was the only one that is not lazy. A clean house is everything.
We don’t care how perfect you’re English is , I just love watching you cook and sharing your stories . I am blessed by your Videos you show what love is supposed to be like. God bless you Gina you are blessing so many people with your loving personality and your love for your family. You cooking is just a extra bonus.
You are such a precious gem .God Bless you and your family
She is a Wonderful Grandma and nice to see she teaches the Proper way to Cook. In Italy there is NO Such thing as pizza sauce or Spaghetti sauce...we call it GRAVY
I took a conversational Italian class, and that is what they said. Sauce is an american thing. I love the idea that everything is fresh. Healthier that way and taste better to. I just love Italians! 💖
Hi Gina. I'm English Canadian and I understand you just fine!! You are an inspiration!
158 people don't like. C'mon are you serious? You may disagree with the recipe, but how you can not appreciate the warmth and true love of this family recipe. The more I study cuisines, the more I am impressed by the connection of food, memories, and tradition. It's more about Love than the best recipe.

If you had a grandma its amazing too!!
Great vid ….. love the way she cooks. I'm a professional chef and this Italian grandma is the real deal …. it doesn't get any better than this.
The recipes and tutorials are much MUCH better with Grandma’s beautiful Italian accent! I feel like I’m in the kitchen with my wonderful Mother-in-Law, who I miss fiercely! She taught me so much in the kitchen and in the heart! 💕❤️💕
What a blessing to find Italian Grandma! Her recipes and methods work much better than modern machines. She makes hard work look like it should…rewarding.
I'm so happy to see this beautiful lady has over a million subscribers!
And again 473 have thumbed down this beautiful woman who is so pure and joyful. May they feast on defrosted frozen dinners and cup of noodles in styrofoam for all eternity!!! I will feast at this womans table!!!!!!!
