Wow! Uno is growing so fast! What a little ray of sunshine she is for you & Frank everyday! We love broccoli here and eat it quite often. I'm sure your fresh, homegrown veggies are better than any I could buy. Gardening is just not an option for us anymore so we have to get what we can. I saw lightning through your window while you were vacuum sealing your bags. I hope you didn't ahve any bad storms. We are supposed to have lots of stormy weather today through Sunday. It was 99 here yesterday and the high is supposed to be 87 today. That's a twelve degree difference even though it's still quite hot and very steamy/humid today. We had a nice shower Monday morning and we needed it so bad. Our grass was turning brown. We keep hearing that this summer will break all past records and I'm praying they are wrong. Sorry to yack so much! LOL! I just feel like we are having a conversation 😊 Blessings to you & Frank. Enjoy the rest of your week! 💙💙💙💙💙

Uno is my gardening buddy now. I honestly feel guilty if I go to the garden without her 🥰
We have had such bizarre weather. Lots of rain after that heat spell and yet today it’s 63F and windy (I’m fine with that!!!h Very hard to plan anything from one day to the next….Take Care Carolyn 💜

Ha! Funny you should say that…when I took her out for her evening walk about last night she did NOT want to come in! She broke her curfew 🤣 It took both of us to catch that little duck 😂

I found a ton of broccoli cheap and did this yesterday. None of mone made it passed sprouts. No leafy greens either. Used my.salad spinner to dry them before freezing. It all worked out great!

OMG!! I never thought of using my salad spinner to dry them. Thank you for sharing that 😃 That’s great you found cheap broccoli. I’m going to do a fall planting but will keep my eye out for sales in the meantime just in case. THANK YOU 💜💜💜

Your duck is so cute! We froze tons of broccoli last year. Some are now starting to form heads. It will be a few weeks yet till we can harvest.

Up until last year we grew the biggest and I’m so happy for you ☺️ Up until last year year we grew the most bountiful harvests of broccoli and all the other brassicas!! Maybe I have to change their spot because this certainly won’t get us through the winter ☹️ Do you boil or steam blanch it?

Uno is getting so big ❤
I will keep this demo flagged for the fall. Down here in zone 8b I have given up trying for spring brassicas as it just gets too hot too fast. We have been having feels like temps in the 100s for days and the humidity is so thick it is air you can wear. I will definitely look for that book. Thanks ❤❤❤

Last year we did a fall crop of broccoli and it was more successful than the spring/summer one so definitely doing that again! Yikes that’s hot…humidity just wipes me out 🥵 Where about are you?

@@JustTheTwoOfUsHomestead we are in Wilmington NC
Most of our state is zone 7b-8a but we are sitting between the river and the ocean so we have a microclimate. When we moved here it meant milder weather but that has really changed! Your channel is such an inspiration as it is just my hubby and me now! So many of the homestead channels are all about raising young children but we are well past that as our daughter is almost 34 :) we currently live in town so we are gardening on a small piece of land, but Mike retires in February and we are hoping to move closer to our daughter (her name is Colleen!)

I’ve never heard of that Julie! The leaves go to the chickens 😉 The only recipe I know of for broccoli soup is using the florets. Care to share 🙏☺️?!

@@JustTheTwoOfUsHomestead exact same recipe stock cheese etc bit sliced leaves but obviously it needs less cooking as florets. I batch cook, portion and freeze for use over the winter 😊

I think this way to steam it the broccoli stays more green

I think so and will hold up better when being “cooked” a second time!
