So I nuke them for about 1-2 minutes and then I slice them in half and then I drizzle olive oil on the inside of both of the sweet potatoes or however, many you are doing, and then I sprinkle salt and garlic powder on them and then just throw them in the oven for however, long it takes to soften them again to get them good and yummy! How many sweet potato slips did you plant in the bin and how many per grow bag?.....Also what did you use for the soil.

    • @whitewillow142
      @whitewillow142  2 місяці тому +1

      @@bFORCe2003 I have about 15 bags but I think I only dumped 6-7 in the video. In each 10 gallon grow bag I put two or three slips. I do give them a crew cut when they start to get to long. The soil is organic Kelloggs. I get it at Home Depot. And then I mix a top soil and compost into it. Then add a bit of 10-10-10 and then just stir that up. Then just stick the slips in the bag a you will never run out of sweet potatoes! Happy harvesting!

    I grew sweet potatoes for the fist time this year in a raised bed. Harvesting was a mess. I stabbed a lot of them. Next year will be in containers. How long can you store them?

    • @whitewillow142
      @whitewillow142  3 місяці тому +1

      @@gsmscrazycanuck9814 I live in Florida so storing them is a bit more of a problem because we don’t have cool basements or low temperatures to keep them in the garage or something. But I storm in my laundry room and baskets and last months. I do as well, so a lot of mine go to canning. Since I did the video, it’s been one month and I already have a huge garden of sweet potatoes again in my bags. Yeah, I learned the sweet potato lesson, not growing them in the ground as well.

    Good afternoon, so you dont cure your sweet potatoes?
    I agree also
    I had to have an emergency back fusion surgery and then caught SEPSIS in December 2022 .
    So I now use grow bags instead of in the ground .
    Alot better harvest and so much easier for someone at 59 in 3 weeks lol
    Plus my back .
    Then in November we plant our short day onions, which we harvest in April .
    We planted 335 sweet onions & red creole onions an ended up with 312 onions .
    We give alot to our older sons & family as they help us , but i still have alot and will be freezing them this weekend ,chopped up .

      @@jtharp9265 first. I am sorry you are going through so much pain. glad they caught the SEPSIS. This was 7 grow bags. I got 70 sweet potatoes. It was a super great harvest. I am 64 so I like to have raised beds and earth boxes. And the grow bags. I do wrap the vines back into the bags and then add any missing dirt and boom. They grow again. I work full time so am canning a lot of these but don’t really need to that much because I always have a revolving harvest. No I don’t let them cure. I just eat them. My puppy dogs like them too cooked I’m beef broth. lol. Thank you for subscribing. I am going to do a water video soon on rain barrels and water storage in case we end up on a crisis.

      @whitewillow142 we have family in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and up near Tallahassee, Florida.
      We just were there in June .
      I always either get my onion starts from
      Dixondale farms here in Texas or Hoss tools from Georgia ,
      Hoss has a channel on here , that's How I found them.
      They always send me extra onion starts and truly get amazing big onions from them.
      Dixondale also .
      Just to give you good advice on where we get ours and so worth it , as 1 sweet onion is costing $1.79 each these days .
      God bless you & be safe .
      Yes, water catchment is truly important right now ,
      We have the water filter system and lots of water .
      And live on a lake.
      Watch your surroundings at all times , I was shocked visiting my aunt after only 1 yr. But it's getting like that here as well .
      Horrible just horrible
