I've been a fan of "Die Ärzte" since the 80s. I've also been to several concerts and they always deliver. They've produced not only political songs. Some brilliant ones I'd suggest you listen to are "Männer sind Schweine" (the video clip alone makes it worth your time), "Schunder Song", "Junge", and if you want to go really old school, here are some fun ones from the early 80s. They weren't political in the beginning and just produced fun songs, several of which went too for the sensibilities of the time and were censored and cou"Zu spät", ldn't be sold. Here are some early hits: "Radio brennt", "Sweet, sweet Gwendoline", "Zu spät", "Buddy Holly's Brille"
When Flake aka 'Doktor' said he liked Die Ärzte, he showed what good taste in music he has. The blonde singer's stage name is Farin Urlaub, which means Drive'in Vacation.

Oh yessss I always love your reactions and this is a really great one 👍If you enjoy political statements, here are two recommandations : 1,) "Pushed away" by the "Toten Hosen", a German Punkrock Band. They usually sing in German but Pushed away is in Engkish. (Maybe because they wanted to be understood by everybody, not only in German speaking countries.) Great music, great lyrics and an awesome music video! 2.) "Susaman" by Șanișer. (Susaman means I can't be silent.) This is a coopaeatuon of Turkish rappers. Each rapper chose a topic to rap about. Hello from Germany! As long as there are people, there will always be wars! They will never learn from their mistakes! Unfortunately it was. War is the driving force of humanity! It has always been that way, and it always will be that way! Greetings Nephilim
Another good german punk song would be „Pushed again“ sung by the Toten Hosen/Dead Pants. Regarding wealth: Even during the time of the pharaos in old Egypt wealth was better distributed than today. Either we go the socialists way and start taxing the 1% or we should just crown these rich wankers as kings and be done with it.
I dont get the point why people think that if the Government gets more enriched, everything will suddenly get better. If you raise the taxes of the "rich 1%" in the western world, water still doesn't flow in Africa and China still craps on the environment because that are not wealth problems. Taxing something doesn't magically change anything because the tax doesn't goes into the pocket of the people that actually need help, it goes to the pocket of the government that is taxing. In Germany e.g. the government already taken 70% of your wealth back the "socialists way". That's the average total tax burden including all taxed you encounter simply by living. The government doing this for decades now. Things didnt get better in this decades for the most part. Neither in Germany nor in the world. So in which way could more tax money for the government from rich people suddenly work and create us a world of milk and honey? The only way to make this world a better place is by increase the wealth of the people. To reach that goal the government has to decrease the average total tax burden, not increase it. And here is another thing: Guess who has to pay the skyrocketing prices when you drastically raise the taxes for all the companies that rule the world. Raising taxes to make the world a better place dosnt make any sense at all.
@@quigge1337 First of all, things got better in germany. After the war my country was a big pile of rubble, today we are export nation no. 1. Second, I specifically talked about taxing the 1%. Third, as a citizen of a socialist country I see and experience my taxes at work for me and my fellow citizens in thousand little ways every day. Most of this i took for granted and never thought about it much. After 2 years, 5 amazing international projects and 3 countries, I came back with a whole new outlook. I no longer complain to much about my taxes because I experienced the alternativ. Yes, our federalistic gov is sometimes overregulating and slow as fuck but at least they try to find the middleground between a predatory free market and a goverment planned system economy. @@jancleve9635 First of all, germany isnt export nation no.1 anymore, has been for years now, and probatly never will be again export nation no. 1. with a continuing downward trend because of more and more rules by the government which is btw. the opposite of a free market/capitalism. And that germany economically raised again after WWII is thanks to capitalism. Germany was doing well because of capitalism, not socialism with a planned economy. Thats a fact. How well germany would do with socialism you saw on the german democratic republic which only lasts 40 years. Germany now is economically downtrending because of uptrending socialism and more and more pointless taxes and rules which leads to costs and scare off investors. Second of all, you didn't touched my point at all. Ok you see your taxes working for ya and I agree but what if you would just cut 10% taxes off because they wasting like a way greater amount. The german government wouldn't run out of money. And they wouldn't need to cut off on social benefits or other things like that. There are so many pointless things where the government is wasting billions of our money instead of increasing our wealth so it makes just no sense to raise their tax money even more. They first need to solve their spending problems with billions of tax money like its pocket money before the people or "the rich 1%" have to pay more taxes. And if you traveld the world you probatly also saw the extrem money wastes in pointless prestige projects by the governments all over the world. And taxing rich people is also the opposite of increasing wealth, because they will simply compensate that by raising prices, cut jobs and lower wages which again leads to less wealth and higher taxes (e.g. VAT) for the people. A minimum wage has also the same effect. A bottomless pit. Socialism is not the answer to wealth. Its the opposite.
The 1% are a distraction. Those 1% are there because they own stuff, not because they earn money. Sure, owning stuff more or less guarantees you earn well, too, but they are not the problem. The problem is the people who earn money because that money has to come from somewhere. It's not the one owning the investment company owning the bank owning the real estate company owning the factory building; it's the one operating the factory and paying low wages to the people who work there. Taking stuff the 1% owns away does nothing for the general populace. Even if it was to be given out in equal amounts, it's not as if it was worth anything---who would have the money to buy it? End even if, it'd be a one-time bonus payment that'd evaporate in no time at all. Instead, the people who earn money need to be targeted. Income tax for the higher tax brackets. Because that's where the real money and real power are. Those are the people who buy politicians (they call it "campaign contributions"), and that's money that will keep flowing each and every month. This is money that can be channelled elsewhere and will change the balance of wealth distribution over time. Yes, there's a certain overlap, but the people who earn money and spend it are way more dangerous than those who own a company that has risen in value a thousandfold over the last half-century.
8:46 I think Die Ärzte supported (in the late 1980s and well into the 1990s) a satirical party on the local level in Berlin, the APPD (Anarchistische Pogo Partei Deutschland / Anarchist Pogo Party of Germany). But that was more of a joke…
Actually, the idea behind the song is more about the ecological consequences of „do-nothing, everything is fine“-politics with regard to climate change.
You might include that in your interpretation, but Die Ärzte are a classical left punk band and especially in the early 2000s when this came out ecological concerns weren't at the forefront of things. I'd rather say this is a general pro democracy, pro political participation song. At least that's how I use it in my philosophy lessons. 😜
@@BeOtterMyFriend you are aware of „Ich ess‘ Blumen“ (1988) or the lines about the little seal on the extended version of „Westerland“ („Ich bin die kleine Robbe, und Algen find ich gut. Am Morgen hab ich Ausschlag, am Abend spuck ich Blut“) or „Rettet die Wale“ (2000)? You are correct with regard to the connection to democracy and participation in the political, non-parlamentarian process, but you would be grossly wrong to associate this song to, say, taxation or (Randian) Libertarian political concepts. Some kind of (imo) oversimplified anarchism in a Die Ärzte song can be found in other pieces, like „Bitte Bitte“ (1988 - and, well, more in the video to the song than in the actual song) or „Die Regierung“ (1995). With their most recent release, „OUR BASS PLAYER HATES THIS SONG“ (a.k.a. „Demokratie“), die Ärzte even call for participation in elections…
@@Roberternst72 I don't disagree with anything of what you said. I just think the connection here is more obviously using your voice/vote to influence politics than to the specific topic of climate change or ecology. Demokratie in my mind is very close to the theme of this song. When it came out it felt like a continuation of this one to me.
@@BeOtterMyFriend I‘ve listened to Die Ärzte approximately since the time Westerland was released. In my opinion, they have begun to use the videos (although not in every case) as a sort of „CliffsNotes“ to the interpretation of their songs (except for the occasional horror B-movie references) at least as early as with the „Bitte Bitte“-video. In the „Deine Schuld“-video you get the imagery of the leaking/sinking boat, the build-up of the tornado, etc, which I think there is at least a little more of an (also) ecological background.
The Americans pay more for their military than for their school system. That says it all. If you want education you have to be rich or go into debt. The system is so broken.
May I suggest a German rapper with the same topic? Sammy Deluxe - Weck mich auf (english: Wake me up!) Official video with english subtitles: ua-cam.com/video/YHGSn9Mozyo/v-deo.html
Debts are not the problem, at least not the value of the number. The quota of them to the GDP is more interesting. Germany: 2.624 trillion EUR 63.7% of the GDP The number went up but the quota got less. USA: $ 33.4 trillions 122.15% of the GDP
If you want to try something different, check out Max Raabe. The classic is " Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus", here with English intro: ua-cam.com/video/M3xcC2H4NoY/v-deo.htmlsi=RyAwZSm-1H3uQJh0 And his summer hitbfrom a while ago: ua-cam.com/video/m_Pvo5veOss/v-deo.htmlsi=IjNOeAWi2yCLwGeL English lyric video: ua-cam.com/video/u4VZleqmSgI/v-deo.htmlsi=8fDTm8aBOmCbIv9g
Max Raabe is an acquired taste. I doubt his music would be very popular outside of German speaking countries. "Kein Schwein ruft mich an" was the first Raabe song I ever heard on either MTV or VIVA and I was not impressed.
The breaking point is already happening right now. People are sick and tired of getting fucked over at every corner. Unfortunately the anger is vented into the wrong direction at the wrong people. Not immigrants are the problem, the government and the billionaires they work for are the problem.
The things you said are on point and relatable. We follow the news regarding the election in the US because it could change whole Europe like never before. This song was made in and esp. for Germany for a good reason. Yes, we are concerned. We have a weak government at the moment and the people are fed up. Lots of fears and rage. Extreme people are shouting in the streets and I think Die Ärzte are trying to wake up the silent and lazy masses.
Your reactions are so much fun and I like that you speak your mind. Having "a leader" is exactly not the point of the song, though 😊 I know you propably didn't mean that literally, but I just can't help myself here, sorry. It just doesn't fit at all! 😅
@@ReactionsbyD BTW, as it oddly fits the theme and I know how much you love him: Kang Hyungho of Forestella released an awesome music video just the other day titled G.T.H.O. DIe Ärzte are very very left leaning. So everything you might read out of these lyrics has to be read in light of their political views. Which I support. But don't confuse them with Querdenkers please
All of that still means that Germany has a full debt well below its yearly GDP. The USA however is so far in debt that they'd need more than three years worth of GDP to cover their debt.

Take a look at “manchmal haben Frauen” von Die Ärzte. Maybe you will like it, too.
You didn't get the sense of this song.
Bro if you get Die Ärzte as leader, count me in!
The Americans pay more for their military than for their school system. That says it all. If you want education you have to be rich or go into debt. The system is so broken.
May I suggest a German rapper with the same topic? Sammy Deluxe - Weck mich auf (english: Wake me up!)

D, Die Ärzte LIVE please !!
Try another German band: Die toten Hosen. Start with a song with english lyrics by them: Pushed Again.
Debts are not the problem, at least not the value of the number. The quota of them to the GDP is more interesting.
Germany: 2.624 trillion EUR 63.7% of the GDP The number went up but the quota got less.
USA: $ 33.4 trillions 122.15% of the GDP
a friend of mine is going to the US 9th.nov. Thankfully to Boston.. That is far away from the potentially civil war. Trump might insist.
this is a good song wow
Just suck the world up into the alien tornado or what
If you want to try something different, check out Max Raabe.
The classic is " Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus", here with English intro:

First of all: this song is from another time. It wasn't made with todays issues in mind. But sure, its message does always fit - it is timeless.
And with "Die Ärzte" there would be no Trump😂
Your reactions are so much fun and I like that you speak your mind. Having "a leader" is exactly not the point of the song, though 😊 I know you propably didn't mean that literally, but I just can't help myself here, sorry. It just doesn't fit at all! 😅
NOT having a leader - did I say HAVING A LEADER? sigh......
@@ReactionsbyD Maybe I understood you wrong, that's entirely possible 😅 I think, at the end of the day we mean the same thing 🤗
@@ReactionsbyD BTW, as it oddly fits the theme and I know how much you love him: Kang Hyungho of Forestella released an awesome music video just the other day titled G.T.H.O. Brilliant rock song about ... well, getting the h*** out. I think he means all of us.

DIe Ärzte are very very left leaning. So everything you might read out of these lyrics has to be read in light of their political views. Which I support. But don't confuse them with Querdenkers please
Thanx for that great comment!
Germany Debt: 2.344 billion😔
German Billion is English trillion, I guess.
@@winterlinde5395 yes but its Milliarden not Billionen
@@winterlinde5395 oops its more now, this was from 2022, end 2023:Jahresende 2023 mit 2 445,4 Milliarden Euro verschuldet. (2445 billion)
@@hobbyamixd6801😵💫oops, yes- I have only seen „billions“ and I remembered we had two 2 Billionen … sorriiiii!
All of that still means that Germany has a full debt well below its yearly GDP. The USA however is so far in debt that they'd need more than three years worth of GDP to cover their debt.
The older songs are better. "Geschwisterliebe" or "Klaudia hat ´nen Schäferhund".
Früher waren die viel härter und punkiger

God forbid that someone could like the idea of making something better. That would literally be the worst.

The tragic case of die Ärzte: today they're fully aligned with the gouvernment.
I hate this ultra left wing group. Is better you stay with Rammstein 😉
"Ultra left wing" 😂 they are like the definition of a bourgeois band. Rammstein is more leftist than them.
