    The "Bild" is an unfortunately very widespread tabloid newspaper. That line in the song is a play on words: Bild = the newspaper in this case, usually just "picture"; Bildung = education - two things standing very stark contrast.

    Our school principal once let slip to my mum at a parent teacher conference that the whole town thinks she's a prostitute because she leaves for work so late at night.
    She worked as a nurse in the psychiatric hospital in the next town and took as many night shifts as possible because our family struggled financially after dad lost his job.

    If you want to check out more from "Die Ärzte" i suggest "Schrei nach Liebe" (Cry for love), but i dont know if there is a video with english subs tbh.
    Also "Deine Schuld" ("your fault") is a good one.
    I love the main line: (SPOILER):
    "Es ist nicht Deine Schuld, dass die Welt ist wie sie ist, es wär nur Deine Schuld wenn sie so bleibt"

    Great song and a charming reaction. Your attempt at a German outro was quite good. I had to listen twice to fully understand it, but only because I was caught of guard the first time. The different ch sounds, which are alien to English, still sound a little bit off, but they are recognizable and you did the correct versions of them in the different words. Easy tip to improve the pronounciation: German "au" is pronounced like the English "ou" in "house", not like the English "au" in "Australia".
    As for the choice of words: While "Pass auf dich auf" (singular form) or "Passt auf Euch auf" (plural form) is a correct translation for "take care (of yourself)", we don't usually say that as a goodbye phrase unless we say goodbye to someone who is going to head into a specific dangerous situation. The more fitting German equivalent for this situation would rather be: "Mach's gut" (singular) or "Macht's gut" (plural), which literally translates to "Do well".

    I recommend watching the other German rock band often mentioned alongside Die Ärzte: Die Toten Hosen (The Dead Pants).
    Their song "Hier kommt Alex" (Here comes Alex) is an anti-nazi song. They've also published a song in English called "Pushed again".

    • @pixelbartus
      @pixelbartus 19 днів тому +2

      "Hier kommt Alex" is not an anti nazi song. The Alex in this song is Alexander Delarge, the main charakter of Stanley Kubricks Film "Clockwork Orange" (but it is a great song and I second the recommendation)

    • @chrisrudolf9839
      @chrisrudolf9839 19 днів тому +1

      Pixelbartus is correct (though I understand how you could get the idea if you didn't know clockwork orange, but no, not every song that is about a gang of youngsters doing pointless brutal violence is necessarily about Nazis, they don't have a monopoly on that). But maybe you just mixed up Alex and Sascha. There is a good sarcastic song about a dumb neonazi called "Sascha - ein aufrechter Deutscher"

    • @denniskrenz2080
      @denniskrenz2080 14 днів тому +1

      @@pixelbartus yeah, they made a whole album about the book and Kubbrick movie. AFAIR they even collaborated with a theater there. Their anti-Nazi Song is "Sascha", if you can still remember it. Got a bit less attention than "Schrei nach Liebe" back then, which was released a year later.

    Very good pronunciation of the title (if I remember correctly you still have to work on your Arschloch ^^)! It means "let them talk", it's shortened from "Lass sie reden", so technically it should be "Lass'e reden" but no one does that :D
    The translation of "rasierst du täglich deinen Damenbart" to "Does your wife shave her facial hair every day" is not correct, it says "do you shave your lady-beard daily"
    As you seem to enjoy Die Ärzte, there are so many cool songs! Like "Dinge von denen", "Grotesksong", "Angeber", "Schunder-Song", "Junge", "Deine Schuld" or "Männer sind Schweine". I love Die Ärzte :D
    Your last part needs some practise as well - "Pass auf dich auf, ruh' dich aus, gute Nacht".. The "au" is more or less the same sound as your "ou" like in "ouch!" and the "ch" is more like a hissing cat

    Die Ärzte even are in the guiness world record book for their song 'Yoko Ono':

    Oh yes, people gossiping here all the time, quite normal.
    You know my apartment is in the top floor and when I look out of my bedroom or living room window I can look directly into my old neighbours house. The grandpa from over there of course noticed and every time he sees me open my windows to let air in he immediately puts a sheet in front so that I cannot "keep spying on him". Dear god, I just want to let air in, nothing more. I couldn't even care less about what he's doing but he always thinks I'm spying on him.
    One day in the morning he nearly kind of shouted "HELLO!" at me in an angry way. I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say. And his wife is quite tall and slim but very old fashioned, always caring for her garden. Personally I think both are just living together because they're too old to separate. In reality they got bored of each other a long time ago and so they're both frustrated.
