I cant understand. He was so young and probably such a lost soul. Im so sorry. I listen to this music a lot still after all these years LP is my favorite. Its really comforting me. I know it saved a lot of people and it hurts me Chester and your son couldnt save themselves.
Chester was a huge Veterans Advocate and if I remember correctly I think this song was meant to portray the regret felt by many veterans after returning from war.
My dad fought in the First Gulf War in the 90’s (some of the scenes featured in the music video are from then). I watched this music video for the first time a few months ago and he happened to be in the room. A lot of the stuff featured he kind of relates to, including the lyrics. The scene near the end with the child holding a thing (I know what it is but, well, UA-cam😅) is unfortunately still a reality today. Child soldiers are a thing in some countries and unfortunately while my dad was over there, he had to come up against some of them. It’s very sad😔
Chester's pain was evident in all his music, but it helped so many who feel the same. The song 'Leave Out All The Rest' breaks my heart, but explains how he wanted to be remembered & is so beautiful! (But a tear jerker when you know he truly felt it). He physically "erased" himself, but never from our hearts & minds, his legacy will live on forever, Linkin Park's music has no doubt saved a lot of lives. x
I agree that his paid was evident in all the music, but i am a bit confused by you saying leave out all the rest was released not long before he "self deleted"? Leave out all the rest released in 2007 with minutes to midnight. Which is approximately 10 years, a decade is a long time. Either way, I agree with your sentiments.
@TheCreedism My mistake, I apologise & will correct myself. Time blurs, I could swear it's only 2012, (maybe wishful thinking) or because I still listen to these songs & bands so regularly. I guess him dying & then as a fan, looking back & listening with hindsight, it all seems like a suicide note & goodbye, maybe that's why I misremembered it being closer to his death. Sorry, I will correct my comment, thank you for the correction. x
I'm so glad you get it. The number of Linkin Park "fans" who were surprised by Chester's death is staggering. If you listen to the lyrics (he wrote/co-wrote) and how he emotes when he sings; it couldn't be any clearer how much pain and dissatisfaction he was in. In addition to the newish way the band melded genres, it was the lyricism that drew me to the band. It felt like all my own alienation, struggles and suffering were just spelled out for me.
I think I have the benefit of hindsight because it’s already happened, but I 100% agree that at parts it’s like someone stole the dialogue right outta your head 😭 that’s the beauty of TRUE ART, it’s all complete and brutal honesty so it hits us in that place we don’t even talk about out loud 🫶
You can still be surprised that someone who has been in your life for 25 years is gone. Would it be surprising if all of the millions of people who relate heavily with his music did the same? Such a weird take
@Dr.Spatula thanks for your comment, as I didn't realize how unclear I was. What I haven't understood is the large number of "fans" who said they never imagined Chester would make that choice. All death is shocking when it happens - the death of a terminally ill parent, an older pet, etc. - and the feelings you have when you learn of it can linger. I was/am disbelieving at the number of people who said they thought they were only words or art. (And to be clear, I'm speaking of 'fans,' not people who knew him as more than a public figure.)
I’m not trying to take away from Chester’s pain or raw emotion (in fact, it’s because he can empathize with the lyrics that he can genuinely sing the songs with pure emotion), but Mike wrote the vast majority of songs. And I mean the \emph{vast} majority of songs. Mike confirmed this in a very recent interview when he was asked about the lyrics and the way Chester passed.
The surprising thing is when you know how he feels and the fact that he was still fighting made you want to fight too, then he lost his fight and you wonder if that will be your fate too. Of course we knew he was depressed, we were just upset that he finally gave up
Your note on him blaming himself for things that happened to him - Chester was molested by a close family member when he was a kid and like many people who go through that it became a root of his depression when he got older, it's something that happens a lot of the time where people blame themselves for things that were done to them. So yes, that core feeling is the root of a lot of his lyrics
I'm 39 and this has been my number one band since I was a teenager! I've had and still have thoughts of not wanting to be here but I just keep pushing on and music like this helps more than anything else ❤
Always hold on! Even when the world seems dark music can get us through. I am a few years older, but LP got me through life’s journey and I think of Chester every day. Stay strong!
Same here, with all you said on the length of time being a fan and having this music help me hold on. Linkin Park really helped a whole generation just hold on.
Chester always spoke right to my heart ❤ 40 years old now and LP helped me so much in my late teenage years and to this day 🤩 So many songs by them make me cry, like "Somewhere I belong", "Breaking the habit",... The hardest song for me is "One more light"... listening to the full song I go to a full pack of tissues 😢 RIP Chester ❤ You helped so many of us and I'm so sorry that we couldn't help you 😢
Mate. Can see this hit you hard. Sending good thoughts your way. Linkin Park have a way of speaking to people on such a deep level. They make you feel and think, and that's so rare. The world is a sadder place with Chester not in it. Watching your reactions to these, and seeing someone experience linkin park for the first time is great. Thank you for that 🤟🖤
Something Chester said in an interview once that’s never left me: “It’s like walking over in the corner and just going ‘I’m just gonna lay down here and just d*e.’ ...it’s not even like I’m gonna k*ll myself. It’s just like I’m just gonna go over here and I’m not gonna eat anything, I’m not gonna drink anything, I’m just gonna lay here, I’m not gonna talk to anybody, I’m just gonna do that until I d*e. That’s what depression is like.” He not only had such an amazing ability to put complex feelings into words, but the fact that he was also so open about everything has always meant so much to me. I was in high school when Hybrid Theory dropped and it had been drilled into my head up till then to never speak about my mental health issues outside of the house. LP’s songs were the 1st spark to help me break free of that.
This is and was Linkin Park, capable of touching our emotions, affecting us, making us think and sing as if there were no tomorrow. Thanks for the reactions.
He was just in so much pain. You're right. It oozes out all over the music. Thats why I think you would love Layne Staley and Alice in chains. His voice is so good and so full of the lyrics. He also is gone, but Jar of Flies will change your life. Every song is so full of talent and music. I hope Chester and Layne are both at peace finally.
Hybrid Theory and Meteora are absolutely amazing albums, they are among the few albums i listened to back in the day on shuffle/repeat in it's entirety. You're in for a treat friend.
I've just gone through your previous LP reactions and I adore how viscerally you react-you don't just pause when you feel like it will save the video, but when a lyric hits hard. Your respect for their musicianship is beautiful and I know that you had said in an earlier video that you were sorry you didn't find this sooner, but I think we find things when we most need them-whether it be to reflect on the past and how we felt and how far we've come, and to give ourselves compassion from finding something we connect with so deeply, or to feel like we're not alone, to hear someone singing something that sounds like the thoughts and feelings we have ourselves, I think both sides are important and when you find the things you connect to, it's at the right time. I heard LP growing up and loved their music, their lyrics, and connected so much with them-it was my teen years when they began-and listening to their music now, as an adult, the songs still mean so much, but often in different ways. I love to see someone finding a song that they truly feel, and connect with, and your reaction to their music is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! As for songs you might like after your reaction to these, I'm going to assume you're eventually going to go down the LP catalogue in full, so I will only say that "Castle of Glass" and "Roads Untraveled" are personal favorites of mine that step a little further from LP's typical style, if you want a little wander that way. As for other bands, while I could go on and on about my favorites, I will suggest a handful that I think may touch you: From Breaking Benjamin: "Dance With The Devil" (more rock) "Ashes of Eden" (softer, existential) "Angels Fall" (middle) From Five Finger Death Punch, "Wrong Side of Heaven" (the video is heartbreaking) From Papa Roach: "Last Resort" "Help" Sum 41, "Pieces" Thank you again for sharing these videos with us!
Mike and Chester are the reasons I have had power in my life. When my mental illness crushes me and i am not able to get out of bed for long periods of time - i start watching reaction videos of this magic power that somehow gives me something that nothing else can.
I “found” LP 3 years ago when I retired and as a child of the 60s and 70s I thought nothing could touch the music we had. And as to the quantity I still know that to be true with the sheer number of bands from the Beatles, Stones, Pink Floyd, Queen, Allman Brothers, Eagles, and on and on, but Linkin Park is the best band I have ever listened to. Every member is perfect in their role with Shinoda and Chester as the heart and soul, but Chester is the greatest rock star. Ever. I can’t verbalize why but he strikes a chord that no one else has ever done for me. I have almost nothing in common with his life dealing with the abuse and mental struggles but he is so open and honest it draws you in and you literally can feel his pain. I wish I had been able to see them live but his pain was obviously more than he could overcome. God rest your soul, Chester. On a closing note let me offer hope to you in the name of Jesus Christ. He knows your struggles and offers the only true deliverance. Just talk to Him.
It honestly really choked me up when you said ‘rest in peace - and I hope it is peace, that’s he’s resting in’. People who have known marrow deep anguish just want that for each other. It’s so moving for someone else to get it, with Linkin Park
I really recommend listening to linkin parks breaking the habit. In my opinion that is one of the most relatable lyrics that i've ever heard and one of the best linkin park songs.
This song isn't on meteroa it's on their third album Minutes to Midnight it's also used in the first Transformers movie. Their other song new divide is on the second Transformers movie the revenge of the fallen
That's the magic of Chester and his ability to emote his feelings through song. He could sing like an angel and scream like a devil. I really hope you listen to "Given Up" it's from Minutes To Midnight.
From the indide is amazing song. Got me from the start of first words " i dont know who to trust.. no surprise " vocals, rap part. Overall another masterpiece from LP got me truth the days back in the days.
After Meteora, I strongly suggest A Thousand Suns. It's all supposed to be listened to together. It's my personal fav LP album, just because of the way everything connects.
After your LP journey is finished you really need to listen to the album "Post Traumatic" by Mike that was recorded to chronicle his dealing with Chersters' suicide. It is a great album in its entirety that starts with depression and gets less so after each track showing that he eventually got to a better place...
This was a great reaction.
LP did a tremendous job distilling the emotional heart of their music into very small verses, letting the poetry of the lyrics do the work as they penetrate your psyche on multiple levels of meaning. Every one of them gets a turn up when I hear it played
Thank you for another sincere and insightful LP reaction, Teddy. 🙏 Like many fans, I've had a long period of difficulty in engaging with them since Chester left us. Watching your journey of discovery of their music, seeing how even now he is reaching and helping new people, how deeply you just GET it, has been immensely cathartic and gone a long way towards healing a lot of the grief I still carry. ❤
I don't normally comment on videos, but i found your channel today and have seen how you really appreciate your journey into rock and metal of all the Linkin Park songs I would absolutely think you should give a listen in the most recent release that was written to be in Hybrid Theory but never made it. Mike shanoda released it after Chesters passing. The song is called "Lost" it is very much the song that give you something to think about and see his side of things in life.
I think What I've Done really showcases a common trait of Linkin Park songs, with the universality of the lyrics. It feels like they boiled down various experiences into a core theme that then resonates broadly. I think most people have experienced guilt and regret over something they've done. Some have made a change, and can relate to that aspect of the song as well. For others, that part may be inspiration, and could even be a source of support as they try, maybe again, to commit to changing. I think the music video (even if a little hamfisted) shows how the song can even be about a collective shame of humanity, and a desire to change the course of human history. From how we treat ourselves to the part we play in society, the song works on so many levels.
I was so lucky to have Linkin Park in my life during the times I felt like “erasure” and just hearing someone else say they felt that. It helped. Same with Breaking the Habit. Linkin Park saved my life. I think for alot of us fans, we wish we could’ve saved Chester, like he and Linkin Park did for us
Appreciate these videos mate! Great job! The song that always gets me and makes me sad thinking about chester is ‘breaking the habit’…. Its on Meteora. Lyrics hit hard, especially now knowing what happened to him. You’ll love it dude. If you love Numb, this is then next level.
One of my favorite bands, this is one that I've heard countless times since childhood bc my mom listens to them, but I've never seen the music video before. This gave me chills.
chesters always had pain, it was well known he suffered from depression. chester had a hand in writing every song they sang. it was his pain, being put out the only way he knew: through music. thats why it was hard for them to continue writing music after his death. forever rip Chester ❤
Chesters son Jamie Bennington sounds exactly like his father ,listen to *soul song* by grey daze , I thought it was Chester singing when it's his son Jamie ❤
Hey Teddy If you like this side of LP check out Castle of Glass from them or if you want to see the greatest live show watch Linkin Park live in Texas a place for my head. Greetings from switzeland
This is from Minutes to Midnight album. The third studio album. One song to react to that isn't on any of their studio albums is Qwerty live Summer Sonic 2006 Tokyo Japan. Qwerty is on LPU6 (Linkin Park Underground #6 release).
LP songs were always simple lyrics wise, we could sing it as kids, but as we grew we understood and dived deeper, until we relate now. Chester had a really tough life, hope he has an easy afterlife now♥️ Also, my birthday was last August 🤣 can you react to “the stage -avenged sevenfold”? Powerful
Great reaction, linkin park live is also awsome, there you can hear and feel the emotions even more, i love , from the inside, live at rock am ring 2004, the whole concert is so great, what can i say i love linkin park, thanks ❤❤❤
That music video and the vocals sum up the title of the song for me; What have we done? The only known species capable of creating the best and the worst, all in one world.
This needs to be out there-and I am in no way disregarding Chester’s pain. Linkin Park is my favorite band of all time with Chester being the GOAT singer, and I even want to name my son after Chester! But, Chester did not write the vast majority of songs. He had his demons and that’s why he can bring out such raw emotion when singing these songs. Here’s what Mike said in an interview just a few months ago when he was asked about the lyrics to Lost and how Chester passed away: “It’s tempting to try and create narratives when looking at songs or albums like these. Couple things to remember: when we were writing songs, some of the songs I [Mike] wrote for him to sing, some of the songs I wrote with him, and some of the lyrics he wrote and we worked on them together. There were very few songs where he wrote them all on his own.” This obviously doesn’t take anything away from Chester’s history or his battles. But its just honestly upsetting to constantly see comments about how he was “literally telling us his pain,” etc. He did have pain and that contributed to his exceptional performances of songs, but they were not cries for help. A popular song that people typically attribute his cry for help to is Breaking the Habit. But that song was entirely written by Mike, just as an example.
Oh this isn't just about war. This video encompasses the sins of humanity and how we're stuck on this never-ending loop of destroying not just ourselves, but our habitat.
I discovered your reactions recently, I love your dive into metal/rock and how you see the feelings plus in the message in the lyrics! I'd love to see what you think of the band Otep. Especially the album The Ascension, maybe ghostflowers for more haunting vocals or home grown.
Great reaction. Would love to see you check out some Sleep Token. Without spoiling anything, I think you’d find the way they go about being metal but also basically genreless really interesting coming from a rap/hip hop background
Recently found you, and I've been really binging your vids - specifically the metal reactions. It's Hella refreshing to see you come in with such an open mind, and it's been awesome watching you really vibing with Linkin Park. I don't know if you've done a reaction to it yet, but you need to check out Hands Held High by Linkin Park - it's from the same album as this track, and solely focuses on Mime Shinoda who pretty much raps the entire track. I reckon you'd really vibe with that - it gets me every time
Linkin Park has a positive effect on those suffering from mental health issues, social issues and needs. It was intended to share talk and save lives. Chester would want it that way. Check out Mike Shinoda’s track PostTraumatic. It was his climb out of grief after Chester’s death.
The choruses are so powerfl because Mike is a good fucking writer and pushed everyone else to as close to perfection as he thought could be attained at the time. They would record the vocals hundreds of times until it was right, sometimes Chester would just be screaming in the booth for an hour.
You really need to check out linkin parks “hands held high” massively underrated and hardly anyone reacts to it. But due to how well you analyse lyrics I’d love to see you pick apart how deep and meaningful that song is.
I have watched the music video so many times and I just noticed how they show a clip of a bomb going off when the beat drop in the intro happens. Nice touch.
Been binging your LP stuff, and oofh. Haven't listened to them in a minute, cause I cry now whenever I do. My husband and I bonded over their music and our prior divorces. His song was "Numb," mine was "In The End." RIP Chester. He had the voice of an angel and could scream like a demon.
dang, you've got me subscribed to your channel! LP was iconic for us and I never thought you'd react to our legend. I've only seen you react to KPOP mv before and really glad that you tried this! keep it up! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
I love seeing people go down the linkin park rabbithole. You should do a full meteora album listen and watch some live stuff once you know how the studio versions are. The live ones are even better
Unfortunately I had to blur the video otherwise UA-cam would’ve blocked the reaction entirely 😓 You can watch the full unedited versions + the Hybrid Theory reaction on my Patreon using this link : www.patreon.com/TeddyGreyOnStuff 🫶

Chester Bennington was such a beautiful man! This band was my son Jesse's favorite band...when he passed away at 17 Chester's words became my comfort!
I'm so sorry about your son. Chester was & will always be a beautiful soul. Sending hugs mama
So sorry for your loss❤
sorry for ur loss. hugs tight.

@Suspira I mean it's no problem, I'm not trying to be rude by correcting. Just making sure we're all on the same page. Much love.
This song is one of my favs.

Layne and Chester are my 2 favorite singers because you don't just hear their singing with your ears, you feel it in your soul.
Like so many Linkin Park songs when he says at the end. I'm forgiving what i've done it's so powerful. Lp forever
Hybrid Theory and Meteora are absolutely amazing albums, they are among the few albums i listened to back in the day on shuffle/repeat in it's entirety.

I feel you. Literally saved my life. Never thought the music can do it
Mr. Grey I love your reactions to Linkin Park. Many of us feel the lyrics the way you do. I hope your mental health is strong. RIP Chester.
Don't forget about Iridescent from the third Transformers movie! That one is a very beautiful song and probably my fav of the 3 transformer songs.
Teddy famously has never watch popular movies lol he lived under a rock before UA-cam 😂
This MV and this song break my heart every time i watch it. My all time favourite Linkin Park song. Thanks Teddy.
Linkin Park has always had such great drops, amazing instrumentals, relatable lyrics, just perfection all around
That's the magic of Chester and his ability to emote his feelings through song. He could sing like an angel and scream like a devil.
I really hope you listen to "Given Up" it's from Minutes To Midnight.
Chester had the ability to make you feel a range of emotions because of the honesty in his voice...
Check out Given Up by Linkin Park. There’s an 18 second part in there I can’t wait to see your reaction to!!!
From the indide is amazing song. Got me from the start of first words " i dont know who to trust.. no surprise " vocals, rap part. Overall another masterpiece from LP got me truth the days back in the days.
This is my alltime favorite too, i love the live version from them at rock am ring 2004❤
From the inside is song 4ever ! I think all of us,fans take this song deep and personally .❤
After Meteora, I strongly suggest A Thousand Suns. It's all supposed to be listened to together. It's my personal fav LP album, just because of the way everything connects.
Your reactions never disappoint me ❤ Thank you for analysis and emotions 💖
RIP Chester. Wish we still had him in the world... also you're not the only one who had thoughts like that. Keep fighting...
To me. this seems to be a song about forgiveness. Beautiful. Chester...what a mfkn legend...and the rest of Linkin Park. Wish I could have seen them.
We’re all waiting for him to say it sounds familiar (me yelling at my phone) TRANSFORMERS !!!
You do realize that this music use in original transformer as a theme
Chester and his band are so amaizing and cool
It's an amazing thing to watch people experience these songs for the first time. Hopefully people keep finding LP for decades
That’s the beauty of music- you can enjoy every tune or song that you hits you, go with it and just enjoy it❤❤❤
That is the awesome thing about Linkin Park songs. The are so thought provoking on many levels.
chesters always had pain, it was well known he suffered from depression. chester had a hand in writing every song they sang. it was his pain, being put out the only way he knew: through music. thats why it was hard for them to continue writing music after his death.
forever rip Chester ❤
Hits different, now he's gone, and as someone who has struggled with addiction and guilt. But there is still hope.
Chesters son Jamie Bennington sounds exactly like his father ,listen to *soul song* by grey daze , I thought it was Chester singing when it's his son Jamie ❤
i have grown with linkin park and for me they got better with every song. every change they made for me was a step up
Please react to easier to run man, such an underrated song :)
Now we know that all songs of chester Bennington has been written by himself to dedicate to the people he loves with deepest coldest heart ❤❤❤❤
Survivors Guilt yes totally. There is so much pain. I connect so much with Chester... so much. I feel he absolutely saved me via his music.
I miss Chester! 57 yr old here and a huge LP fan!
This music video is something that hit me really hard when I first saw it. all things done by us, humans. All the pain, nature catastrophes, wars....
Hey Teddy
If you like this side of LP check out Castle of Glass from them or if you want to see the greatest live show watch Linkin Park live in Texas a place for my head.
Greetings from switzeland
This brought a tear to my eye. This is one of mine and my dad's favourite Linkin park song, I miss him so much. Dang it, Teddy
This is from Minutes to Midnight album. The third studio album. One song to react to that isn't on any of their studio albums is Qwerty live Summer Sonic 2006 Tokyo Japan. Qwerty is on LPU6 (Linkin Park Underground #6 release).
You have to do given up next!
LP songs were always simple lyrics wise, we could sing it as kids, but as we grew we understood and dived deeper, until we relate now. Chester had a really tough life, hope he has an easy afterlife now♥️
Also, my birthday was last August 🤣 can you react to “the stage -avenged sevenfold”?
Bleed It Out on repeat in the past.
I loved the glitching it was super on theme 😂🫶🏼
This needs to be out there-and I am in no way disregarding Chester’s pain. Linkin Park is my favorite band of all time with Chester being the GOAT singer, and I even want to name my son after Chester! But, Chester did not write the vast majority of songs. He had his demons and that’s why he can bring out such raw emotion when singing these songs. Here’s what Mike said in an interview just a few months ago when he was asked about the lyrics to Lost and how Chester passed away:
“It’s tempting to try and create narratives when looking at songs or albums like these. Couple things to remember: when we were writing songs, some of the songs I [Mike] wrote for him to sing, some of the songs I wrote with him, and some of the lyrics he wrote and we worked on them together. There were very few songs where he wrote them all on his own.”
This obviously doesn’t take anything away from Chester’s history or his battles.
You are lucky, I wish I could hear this for the first time once again
Oh this isn't just about war.
This video encompasses the sins of humanity and how we're stuck on this never-ending loop of destroying not just ourselves, but our habitat.
I discovered your reactions recently, I love your dive into metal/rock and how you see the feelings plus in the message in the lyrics! I'd love to see what you think of the band Otep. Especially the album The Ascension, maybe ghostflowers for more haunting vocals or home grown.
Ttheir song hits you like a tidal wave of energy and aggression.
and just now October Ends dropped a banger 🔥 You gotta react to it!
Teddy. I love you so much. You are so relatable!
This song was the theme song for one of The Transformers movies. The helicopter wasn't from war, it's in a part from the film
Hey glad I made it to a premiere!! Love your channel!
your woohoo at the beginning for some reason scared the shit out of me for some reason, i jumped lol, didnt expect
I reckon you'd really vibe with that - it gets me every time
His was actually the ost for Transformers 😊
Linkin Park has a positive effect on those suffering from mental health issues, social issues and needs. It was intended to share talk and save lives. Chester would want it that way. Check out Mike Shinoda’s track PostTraumatic. It was his climb out of grief after Chester’s death.
Breaking The Habit is another great song and the Leave Out All Rest.
Your reactions are great! I seeing you reacting to Linkin Park it’s awesone! ❤❤❤
The choruses are so powerfl because Mike is a good fucking writer and pushed everyone else to as close to perfection as he thought could be attained at the time. They would record the vocals hundreds of times until it was right, sometimes Chester would just be screaming in the booth for an hour.
I miss chester. I was supposed to meet him for the very first time, the day after he saddly passed, in Hershey, pa
Teddy when are we going to get some Five Finger Death Punch? And POD?
😢R.I.P Chester Bennington ❤
Next Reaction
Limp Bizkit-Break Stuff
Chester 😢 you my Legend 🫂❤
You really need to check out linkin parks “hands held high” massively underrated and hardly anyone reacts to it. But due to how well you analyse lyrics I’d love to see you pick apart how deep and meaningful that song is.
Chester was one of my yourh loves along with David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Falco, Kurt Cobain, Brandon Lee, Peter Stele.
One My masterpiece song and video forever❤
This song is from the minutes to midnight album.
I have watched the music video so many times and I just noticed how they show a clip of a bomb going off when the beat drop in the intro happens. Nice touch.
Don’t be afraid to divulge how you feel about the lyrics and draw comparisons to real life bro 💪🏼
The live ones are even better
this song is great
This song was my introdction to Linkin Park. It holds a very special place in my heart for that reason 💜
This song was on the first Transfomers soundtrack
